Super cute hotel with such a welcoming atmosphere. The staff was incredibly friendly - from valet to the front desk, as well as everyone at the restaurant and bar. I especially loved that they offered a texting option for any requests, which made everything feel so convenient and seamless.

The room was spacious with modern furniture and very comfortable beds. The walls were a bit thin, but thankfully it never got too noisy during our stay.

Also - the vanilla latte is a must. So good!

I’ll definitely be back and would absolutely recommend staying here.

The staff, location and room was great. The bed has a pillow top but was very uncomfortable. It was very fluffy in the middle and it felt like you were sleeping on a slight angle unless you were in the middle of the bed. For my husband and I it didn’t work. Also, the mattress under the pillow top was extremely firm. Unfortunately a very bad night trying to sleep.

The room was nice and clean. They need soft close toilets … makes for a lot of loud bangs when your used to the others. If you book through Expedia you don’t get IHG points evidently. Something you should be more upfront about or negotiate the points into your deal with them.

The hotel is ideally located and the room was spacious. I did not realize that the hotel is dog friendly to the point that 75% of customers had dogs in the lobby, elevators, and rooms. I felt like I was at a dog hotel. I am a dog lover but it was just a bit much. There were dogs sitting on furniture, dogs barking in the lobby, and dogs barking while we tried to enjoy the room. The restaurant bar and restaurant were enjoyable and the staff was helpful. If it were not for the extreme number of dogs I would return.

Everything was great! My bestfriend and Insoent a girls weekend and Kimpton made our stay amazing. Tommy at the front was always there to help, the gentlemen at the door always greeted us with a warm smile when we’d come in, and special thank you to the gentlemen who invited us to the rooftop party! Friendly Staff, ( especially Hayden), great rooms and location, BUT seriously understaffed. I had to wait 30 minutes to check in. I had to wait so long to buy some of the lobby snacks that I gave up, $50 for overnight parking but then I found out that the parking structure next-door is $40 overnight and they’re adding 50 on top of that. Not the same place since they’ve been bought.

Property is fairly nice but there were many issues during our stay. For one, they offer an upgrade to a room with a balcony however, it’s hardly a balcony extending a mere 4 inches. Our room was over an alley where trash trucks and constant filling of trash bins wasn’t a pleasant way to wake up. Restaurant on property was sub par as well. Rooftop pool is nice but quite small and overcrowded.

We stayed here for our wedding and it was so perfect. We walked to the courthouse and so many stores and restaurants nearby we didn’t have to drive anywhere. The hotel was great. Staff is so friendly (Chole was amazing) the room was beautiful, the complimentary wine and coffee was great. The bar was great. All the food and drinks were so delicious. We will be coming back for our anniversary.

My stay at the Kimpton Canary was very relaxing. I was initially roomed immediately off the elevator but Chloe ensured that I was moved to a different floor and room. This elevated my experience from the beginning-had my room not been changed, it would have been a poor experience as it was not a cheap stay for 3 nights. Hotel is overall expensive. Some features are nice but not $450 /night (and I came in the off-season) not including amenities such as Wifi, coffee bar, and a gym which were additional ~ $39 /daily. Other hotels have similar amenities included. That makes a huge difference for people when adding $200 depending on # of nights. Perhaps could charge a one time fee for amenities. I didn't have a car but parking is also additional-seems to be standard around the area. A a bit of a hassle.

Pool was wonderful. Fireplaces however were not working nor were the space heaters up on the roof. Would have been nice to have had those functional for those wanting to sit and read after the sun went down. Room had some noise as walls were pretty thin. Bicycles were a nice addition-property has about 11 and, while it was not very crowded when I was there, I would imagine certain times of the year they are harder to reserve. Great safe location of State St. Very walkable/rideable to restaurants, shops, and approx 20 min to beach.

Overall, I had an enjoyable stay and will definitely consider a repeat stay when I return to beautiful Santa Barbara.

Perfect location for day trip!

This hotel was the highlight of our roadtrip! The hotel was very pleasant and the restaurant was amazing. The location for walking to the pier and browsing shops along the way was a perfect day. If ever in Santa Barbara again, we will definitely stay here.

We were in town for a benefit. We wanted to stay close to the venue in a walkable area. The first room was loud. We were promptly moved to another room. Everyone was polite and very accommodating. The bed was very comfortable. Excited to come back.

Surprised 30th bday celeb-success!

The service is wonderful. My family and I were there for my daughter’s surprised 30th birthday and we reserved 3 rooms. The front desk were very accommodating when I requested to have our rooms on the same floor and as close together as possible. Chloe made it happen! She was wonderful to talk to. Everyone from valet parking to bar and restaurant and housekeeping, staffs were very friendly.

Tried to check in \"early\" at 2:40 but had to wait in the lobby for 45 minutes for the room to be cleaned. Did not realize that the check in time is so late. Got to our room with \"outdoor living space\". Hahaha. Three feet of balcony with two chairs jammed in that subtracted three feet from the \"indoor living space\". Oh, and $50 a night to park. Should have read the fine print.

A nice but not great hotel in downtown Santa Barbara. The hotel has some good facilities (parking - for a fee, gym, bar and restaurant). The location is good for exploring downtown and the beach (bike, or a 25 min walk). We had some issues with noise outside the room in the early mornings; one day due to a delivery, the other due to an unhoused person. The room was nice but the bathroom lacks any kind of sound proofing or even a solid door... It was also missing robes, coffee/kettle (though they were available on request) so felt not quite up to the usual Kimpton standard. But overall would recommend, just not a *great* hotel for the price

It's a beautiful property, perfect for a getaway. The ambiance is quiet, and the room decor is both unique and in good taste. We had a balcony room, which faced the street. While the beach isn't within walking distance and we had to take Ubers to get there, the overall experience was still delightful. The pool area is amazing—warm, inviting, and enhanced by a fireplace for the evening, making it just perfect.

The rooftop pool was outstanding. Same goes for the friendly and attentive hotel staff, Definitely the highlight of our stay at the property. The bar and restaurant were also great. Unfortunately, the bed in our room was too soft, which will probably keep us from staying there again. And the bathroom doors were ventilated shutter doors like you might find on a closet, which meant all the sound in the bathroom was heard in the rest of the room. Overall, the hotel is really nice and I recommend it if you don’t mind soft beds and prefer a good pool over being close to the beach.

First, shoutout to Edwin for being an amazing when I spoke to him at the front desk. I love the Kimpton(s), but I did think the balcony room looked a lot smaller in person and the room didn’t feel as luxurious. I loved the (coffee) amenities, the valet staff and location.

We arrived at 4:10 (check-in is at 4:00), and were told \"Linens are running late, your room isn't ready.\" No biggie, we hung out in the lobby for about 15m, then got a missed-call (there is _horrible_ reception inside, and the WiFi is for guests only, and we weren't yet a guest...) saying our room was finally ready.

The room itself was nice enough. Unfortunately, the room wasn't exactly ready, since the pillows were piled up in a chair without cases on them. Sigh.

We figured we'd hit the pool and ask them to finish making up the room...so we went to the \"largest rooftop pool in Santa Barbara\", only to find that it was closed for a private event. Sigh.

Eventually, things got sorted, we had a nice dinner out, etc. etc.

The next day we decided to try the pool. There is NO SHADE upstairs around the pool (about 1/3rd the number of umbrellas needed), and the pool is about 20 feet long, and 3 feet deep. Figured we'd just lounge elsewhere on the rooftop deck (try and make some shade somewhere), but it was booked for another private event.

Repeat the above for 4 days.

On the plus side, the location is great - plenty of restaurants nearby, a mile-ish walk to the beach, etc.

The valet service was FANTASTIC, and they were on top of charging the car while we stayed there.

For the price of the room, the lack of useful ameneties and service just weren't worth it. I don't think we'll be back to this property.

Great Dog Friendly Hotel

Really enjoyed our stay, we brought along our 110lb pitbull mix & they’re were very welcoming were most places would not be. Everything from the room to the rooftop events were great! Really enjoyed the location, close to state street but on the quieter side of things.

The balcony we paid extra for was underwhelming. It was a door that opened and that was it. Couldn't sit outside to enjoy the view. Although since we had a view of the has station we weren't missing much. I was also disappointed that the spa services they offer and we booked we're not on the actual premises. Wasn't a far walk, but not as convenient as I'd hoped. Overall it was just \"ok\". The restaurant Finch and Fork was alright but the menu wasn't impressive.

the stay was really good. after a hiccup at check in, we had a wonderful trip at the Kimpton. They seemed to be under staffed but handled the issue very well. The service people were extremely kind and helpful. the hotel is situated perfectly in downtown Santa Barbara. You can walk every where.

There was a lot of noise below our window post-midnight with workers from the hotel loading a large truck. Also, it seems everyone in Santa Barbara drives a car without a muffler. Road noise outside the hotel was loud and obnoxious.

It was an amazing stay. The valet parking guys were so friendly when you get there. Always full of information on what to do and where to eat. The hotel was super clean and so close to State St (which is where all the shops and restaurants are). The room was very clean and the bathroom was huge! The bed was also very comfortable.
