We would have had a wonderful stay, except that housekeeping was awful. The first day they did not do our room or leave clean towels. We asked for service and were given towels, but no wash cloths. The next day we had to ask for sevice. The 3rd day, they madevthe beds and nithing else. These little things make a big difference toward avrelaxing stay. The beds are comfortable. The location is excellent. Room service is fast and delicious.

There is no free parking without a good walk, so be ready to add $48 nightly to park.

Ocean view room and relaxing. Quiet room with a comfortable bed. We had a great time with our adult kids walking to the beach. About 30 minutes walk to the pier and 40 minutes to farmers market on the state street. Great view of the beach from the lobby and the pool.

As soon as we stepped into our ocean view room it was perfect!!! The layout is great, very spacious and comfortable. The front desk staff was amazing Max did a great job detailing everything about the property and Kevin with valet service was very helpful. I definitely recommend having some drinks at Cafe Lido and grabbing breakfast at Costa Kitchen. I will definitely be back soon! Thanks for everything.

Motel 6 at Hyatt prices. Room was terribly noisy, and the front desk refused to move us (even by offering a higher cost room) by claiming that the hotel was sold out—despite rooms being available on Expedia. The freeway and railroad run right behind the property, and the doors slam ALL the time. When told about the issue the guy at the front test started to argue instead of apologizing.

Hotel was pretty. But upgraded ocean view room 1112 was terrible. Paper thin walls with constant noise on 4 sides. Dog on one side. Pool/hot tub playing on another. Public sidewalk with people chatting while relieving their dogs on another side. Hearing every footstep and conversation of people upstairs. Ground-level bathroom has no curtain, so you're showing and giving a show to the public. Ocean view means nothing when you have to keep the bedroom's shades closed the whole time (unless you want everyone staring at you from the pool and the public sidewalk). The area is beautiful, but the ground floor ocean view rooms are by no means romantic or enchanting.

We arrived at the hotel at 2:00 PM. The hotel was not busy on a Monday. They said \"our\" room was not ready and we had to wait untill 4:00. However, for $30 upgrade we could have a room immediately. We're seniors and we were tired so we paid the upgrade charge. We've stayed at this hotel a few times before with no issues.ill think twice before using this Hyatt again.I have never had this issue with Marriott or Hilton.

Everything at the hotel is lovely, however, the quality of the toilet paper is very poor. We had to purchase our own.

Staff were great. Location is spot on. Rooms are small, but to be expected from a property that originally opened in 1931. We requested a balcony room and, unfortunately, ended up by the regularly utilized ice machine and above a party venue. I sang along to the first couple hours of music (sound deadening was clearly NOT a thing in the 30’s), then put my headphones in for the last 2-hours. They shut it down at 10pm promptly, but if you’re looking for an early turn in, I suggest you verify where your room is located at check-in. We were in bldg 1 on the 2nd floor above Cafe Lido.
We had breakfast at Costa Kitchen and enjoyed some delicious lemon ricotta pancakes, avocado toast, and a farmers breakfast, all of which is delicious.
Being directly across the street from the beach doesn’t suck either.

This is an older property. Overall nice facility and friendly staff but the plumbing noise woke us up throughout the night and we had to change rooms. New room was better, but still heard the plumbing and the elevator. The Lido bar ha really good food and Kiran the bartender was the best. Staff at Costa (especially Danny) were great.

I would like to say that the staff and maids were fantastic.
I’ll make it simple and to the point. We were there for 2 nights.
As soon as we got into our room there was a smell of must, a wet sitting smell. I could not pinpoint it but perhaps the filters on the mini split system need to be cleaned. We did suffer some allergies while there. The mini split unit was very loud and has a sound like running water while it’s on. The fan does not adjust much or if at all.

The next thing was I spent about 30 minutes trying to kill mosquitoes that were all over the room. I swatted them till they were all gone. My wife received 2 bites during our stay.

The toilet occasionally does not flush all the way unless you hold the handle down manually.

There was no screen on our patio door as there was one on the neighboring room but not the other. I reserved this room because it has a patio, and we had no choice but to keep the door closed due to the chance of allowing more mosquitos in. I paid extra to have the ocean view and be able to have the ocean breeze come in and this was not possible.

Our first night our dinner was over an hour late and the French Fries were soggy. We did not eat most of the dinner due that fact. Every meal ordered after that was fantastic.

You advertise no room delivery due to protection of the privacy of the guests . How ever in my opinion there is not much privacy. The exit doors were open all night.
You can hear all neighbors above you.

Location is amazing and we had lovely huge patio areas looking at the beach. We spent the evening in their courtyard with a fire pit and drank wine and chilled. Some ordered a few items from the restaurant and it was delicious. The coffee at the cafe was really good too!

The rooms are little outdated but overall, very clean and beds were comfortable. My luggage was not properly stowed while waiting for my room. It sat at the front entrance of the hotel in the parking area the whole day. I had my laptop and other personal items sitting right there in front of all the guests coming and going. Many guests seemed to be upset that their rooms were not ready in time. My room was also a bit delayed. One bright spot were the valet attendees Tracy and Alexander. They were so helpful and kind!

Pretty average property at best. They do a good job with their photos making it look like it's actually on the beach, and that their pool is anything more than a Holiday Inn pool. It’s actually across the street from the beach. Lots of small disappointments through out. The AC was broken in the gym. All three Peloton bikes were broken in some fashion. I tried to order room service, but the phone didn't work in our room. I called the front desk, and as no one picked up, I left a message where they said they would call me back, and nobody ever did. They don't start coffee service until 7:00 a.m., and by that time, there's a line of people waiting for them to bring it out. Lots of little things with not that much impressiveness.

Hotel manager, Dennise was above and beyond while our stay at this property. She was extremely friendly and super super sweet to make sure that we had an amazing experience. Even the food was exceptionally good at their restaurant. The room conditions could be better, but I’m definitely coming back for another. Stay soon at this hotel just because of her.

Not the experience I expected for a deluxe stay

I stayed in a King Deluxe room with an ocean view overlooking the pool. Unfortunately, several issues impacted my experience. The blinds in the room did not work, preventing me from fully enjoying the view. The hair dryer was broken, and despite calling the front desk, no replacement was provided. I also requested a late checkout, but it was not documented, which led to housekeeping repeatedly knocking and intruding during my work calls. These service lapses were disappointing and fell short of expectations for this level of accommodation.

Thoroughly enjoyed a nice September weekend at Mar Monte. The staff were wonderful: friendly & helpful. I'm from out of State, and found the fresh produce in the restaurants to be outstanding, along with good service. The room was comfortable - firm mattress, with a soft pillow-top, soft pillow, good temperature. They do have a primitive cooling system, which is rather loud. Bathroom & shower were clean & good. The hotel is right across the street from a clean and well maintained beach - safe for walking any time of day. I'd happily stay here again next visit.

I absolutely loved my stay at the Mar Monte in Santa Barbara. It's a beautiful resort but the service is what makes it.

The Air Conditioning in my room was not working. Grant at the front desk sent over a maintenance technician immediately.

As the issue could not be fixed, Grant apologized as it would be a downgrade but offered me a different room.

We accepted and were so comfortable for the rest of our stay.

The Mar Monte Hotel exceeded our expectations. I chose it to see, in person, how the renovation combined modern amenities with its 1930s structure. And the location next to the ocean, in beautiful Santa Barbara, is idyllic. Standouts were the lighting, tile, marble, furnishings, and mostly the two restaurants. On top of that, we experienced friendly service from the front desk staff and Lido Cafe server, comfortable bed and linens, and a large and heated outdoor pool. Don't miss the hand-painted mural in the cafe!

This was hands down the worst hotel stay I have ever experienced, and I would never recommend the Mar Monte Hotel to anyone. When we arrived for check-in, we had two very tired, crying babies with us. Our room was not ready, and instead of showing even the slightest bit of empathy or professionalism, Nick at the front desk was incredibly rude and dismissive. He didn’t care about our situation, didn’t apologize, and made what was already a stressful moment even worse.

As if that wasn’t enough, when we retrieved our car from valet, it was returned to us with a flat tire. We had to call AAA and have the car towed to a tire shop — an unbelievable and unacceptable inconvenience, especially after paying nearly $1,000 a night for this stay.

The Mar Monte Hotel is not worth a single penny. Between the rude staff, the lack of basic hospitality, and the complete disregard for guests, this was by far the worst hotel experience of my life. Save your money and your sanity — stay anywhere else.

However, still a slight mildew odor. The pool is small and overcrowded. Great location across from the beach and the staff was accommodating.

Staff was very dismissive. Common areas are all updated but the rooms are terrible for the cost. Our ocean view was blocked by multiple trees, should not be considered an ocean view room. Advertise bikes and beach chairs included in resort fee but have very limited inventory. Cleaning crew started making noise very early around 630 woke us up. Not a great experience for celebrating our wedding anniversary

It was out third time here and a great hotel but this time we paid extra for the \"ocean view\" room which ended up being above the pool with an obstructed ocean view. The kids and music at the pool kept us awake from 7am to 10pm and was not relaxing at all. Definitely not worth the extra money for the upgrade and had us leaving very disappointed

The property was lovely and directly across from the beach. They offered bikes and beach chairs to use. They have coffee in the morning in the lobby, water at pool and in the lobby and in buildings next to ice machine to fill your own bottles. Both the pool area and the open air seating off the lobby has nice chairs, couches and fire pits / fire tables to hang with family and friends. The staff was very knowledgeable and very friendly and helpful. The rooms are on the large size and beds were very comfortable. We will definitely return to the property!

Our room was quite comfortable it had the perfect space and furniture.

We stayed in the main building and enjoyed the charm, pool and bikes.

I typically will not stay in hotels rated good but the reviews were mixed with complimentary tones.

The hotel is just shy of being excellent. Mostly, the linens are tired and need replacing as well as more provided. The robes were both small and lacking luster, if they fit we would not have worn them. The towels were not hotel towels, including pool towels. Our room had one glass provided, I had brought my own and assumed when cleaned that would change but no other glasses were delivered. The garbage can and tissue holder were peeling plastic. One of the under side tables had a malfunction tripping light.

I would recommend the hotel and the location. Covina and Reunion Food and kitchen were great finds in a short walking distance. The hotel drinks and breakfast food were yummy.

I love the beach being across the street. I appreciate the checking-in staff, she was great. I also appreciate the wooden chips you get which give you $10 off drinks!

I just wished the hotel would have had a bigger pool space to lay out. It was hard to get a chair, specially since the hotel is as big as it is or have a second pool. The other part was somewhat disappointed was dining options around the hotel since most of the were 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 mile away which are not walking distance.

The room was spacious, but the furniture setup could be improved. The closet was so close to the side of the bed that there was not enough room to open the closet door. The cushion on the sofa in the room had a nasty stain, and the room felt damp and stuffy.

Great location. Very cute spot. Nice staff. However, it was very loud from people being in the hallway outside our room. It sounded like we had a heard of children in our room banging around all morning.

I was happy with our stay. I loved the hotel’s Spanish revival charm and its food/drink amenities. Our room and bed was very comfortable but the “ocean view” feature was actually more of a small window view of the pool and raising the blinds would have infringed on our privacy. Overall, however, I give the hotel a high rating. It’s lovely.

This was our first time to Santa Barbara. We had the most amazing time! The hotel room was beautiful. The location was perfect. They had free bikes that we rode along the beach to the pier. The staff was friendly and courteous. The only tiny issue was the pillow cases were not soft at all but otherwise everything was fantastic

It’s a nice property in a quiet location. Our room was great and centrally located in the Santa Cruz building. We were on the bottom floor, ocean side, and had an extended balcony with a wonderful sitting area. This was a perfect hang out spot for our family of four. The website claims that you cannot put rollaway beds in the rooms, and I was a bit concerned having two teenagers with us on our stay. But the moment we arrived, we asked for a rollaway and they delivered one within 15 minutes. Not sure what the actual policy is around that, but we were thrilled to have the extra bed. We were able to secure bikes for daytime adventures every day, but unfortunately, we’re never able to secure pool chairs until later in the evening. It was Fourth of July weekend and the property was packed so people claimed everything first thing in the morning. This meant that we weren’t able to have much pool time, but spent most of our time at the beach right across the street anyway. We also had trouble getting the free beach chairs, and were only able to secure one. Luckily, we had brought along two of our own so it wasn’t a problem. The staff was very accommodating and the property was well appointed. overall we enjoyed our stay and I would stay there again.
