This hotel is clean but very average. Close to everything but only has the very basic amenities. Breakfast was expensive €26 per person for buffet breakfast and there wasn't much to choose from. Reception could also be a little friendly to guests. No complimentary water so we bought water and asked to charge it in the room but we were told they can't do that since the room has already been fully paid for but doesn't make sense that they were ok to charge the €26 per person breakfast to the room.

Very clean hotel/room, pleasant staff and a wonderful breakfast selection (though a bit pricey).

I would have given it 5 stars if not for the odd room layout. I had a single queen room. The toilet was immediately to the left of the door, but the sink, shower and tub were around the corner. I found that odd.

There was an electric kettle in the room with a few tea and instant coffee selections, and a mini fridge. The room size was good with two windows that you could open.

I came in by train and you can take bus 3 or 13 to the Hansemannplatz stop. Cross the street to Peterstraße and the hotel is down on the left. Easy to get to and a short walk further down Peterstraße gets you towards the old town.

Great location near the cathedral and square. Hotel was great but we did not eat the breakfast as it was expensive at $26 euros each. I recommend the dining room as we ate 2 nights of 3. Parking was easy with our rental. Unfortunately, our vehicle was broken into and my wife’s Michael Kors purse (the only item we left and forgot in the car) was stolen. Note: the underground parking does not belong to the Hotel. I would recommend staying here without a vehicle.

The hotel and room as such were fine. But there are too many drug addicts and drunks in the blocks around the hotel. The parking lot is spacious but some parts of it are used as public latrine. Very close to main shopping areas and other parts of the city center.

Séjour parfait dans ce Novotel très bien entretenu (chambre impeccable, spacieuse, ultra propre). Accueil très agréable, de la réception au petit-déjeuner. Localisation très centrale et pratique (à 5mn à pied des rues avec tous les magasins principaux pour un week-end shopping ; 7mn à pied de la vieille ville ; 17mn à pied de la gare). Le petit-déjeuner était très copieux et soigné (par exemple petites cassolettes de saumon fumé, et une attention sur l'hygiène avec des vitres de protection pour se servir au buffet). Je reviendrai séjourner avec plaisir dans cet établissement et remercie tout son personnel agréable!

Very convenient for Aachen Christmas market. Super friendly staff. Clean room. Used bar both evenings and drinks were reasonable and delicious. Didn’t have breakfast as we had it on the go from fantastic bakeries and cafes in town. Aachen beautiful - you must see the cathedral!

The hotel staff was extremely rude and inconsiderate. Many essentials were missing in the room including toilet paper. When you need to ask for toilet paper then you know there is an issue. The key cards did not work and we had to ask for new keys frequently. The staff was very rude and inconsiderate; I have stayed in many hotels around the world but the lack of service and basic communication skills were missing. Consider this hotel as you last option in Aachen.

Service and location are good, but the property itself is dated. The shower cabin is too small (good for munchkins). The hotel is next to the central bus hub, which is quite convenient. The excellent Carolus Therme is within a walking distance.

Very clean hotel and supportive staff.

The hotel and particularly, my room was very clean, staff are very helpful. My family did enjoy our stay and the location of the hotel, being at the city centre made it easier to visit different places, and shops which are all within a walking distance. Additionally, the breakfast was very nice as well.

It was a good hotel.
The one thing I will take from my stay was the possibility to opt out of having your room cleaned every day and instead the hotel donates a small amount to planting trees.
Just hope the actually do it.

Brilliant hotel in central location.
Rooms are large and spacious. Even though this hotel is on a main road, with the windows closed you can not hear a thing.
Breakfast was excellent and catered for all needs from full English to continental pastries to super food seeds, berries and nuts - you will not be disappointed if you chose to stay here.
It was an easy stroll of 15mins to the train station and a quick 10mins walk to the old town.

one adult with two children and they put an extra sofa bed in the rion which worked very well, though the sofa bed is probably only big enough for one adult or two v small children. Staff were very helpful and location is good

This was my first time staying in a Novotel. Usually, they are near airports but this one was right in the middle of the city. My one complaint is that the neighborhood was kind of sketchy with a lot of people loitering outside nearby. The hotel itself is pretty basic but decent value for the money. The breakfast was actually very good but not 19 Euros each good. Still it's better than trying to find somewhere to eat first thing in the morning in a new city.

Friendly staff and an easy walk to the Cathedral from the hotel. I didn’t have an environmental badge on my rental car so I parked in a garage recommended by the Aachen city website by the stadium. €5 for 24 hours and a short bus ride right to the hotel.

Walkable location to all the sites

This hotel is a convenient 7 minute bus ride from and to the train station and about 10 minutes walking to all the sites in Aachen. This is a modern hotel and we had no issues with the wi-fi. It is clean and has everything we required for our visit. The room we had was on the 4th floor, very clean and quiet. It had separate bath and WC. The staff was very accommodating to our requests. The breakfast provided in the dining room was excellent! We highly recommend the Novotel Aachen City.

I visited Aachen for the first time . I likes the cleaness n tidiness of your rooms . I stayed for six days and everyday my two rooms are kept clean n tidy . The rooms gave us effective n efficient structure , every furniture can be extend to maximum usage by moving , by altering and can be minimize when not in use so they won't need much space in the rooms . Overall a Good Place

This is a very nice modern hotel. Overall it was a very good experience and we would stay there again. While not uncommon in Europe, it was disappointing that there is no sink with the toilet and one has to walk through the entire room to wash one's hands. We also had an issue with the height of the parking garage. However, the restaurant food was excellent and the breakfast the next morning was described by our kids as \"the best they have ever had!\"

Nice Hotel but in not such a good area

The hotel was very nice and only around a 15 minute walk to the old part of the town. Unfortunately however, we were rather concerned for our security during the walk from the hotel to the old town! On leaving the hotel we were confronted by a number of what Id term as street urchins and undesirables; this was rather intimidating (I add here that I'm a seasoned traveller having been to South America even Afghanistan!).

The second point I make is that we were a family of 5 (my wife and our three children aged 8 and twins aged 6). There is a massive issue in terms of booking a family of 5 ie almost impossible! In view of this I had booked an executive room costing €140 for a family four. This was the last hotel on a tour of Germany and other hotels had accepted our situation. Had we'd been five adults or even with teenagers Id have understood the policy, but on this occasion, the hotel refused to allow us to stay in the room together and we had to then stay in two separate rooms!
Whilst I accept that this may well not be a fault of the hotel, I question the rationale and sense of this issue. If it is because of fire regs then Id suggest that my having to stay in a separate room in the hotel would have caused more danger ie not being in a position to look after my young children and having to get to the other room to do so etc - the whole situation is ludicrous and seemingly most unfair!

Perfect for us

Since it was our first time in Aachen, we depended heavily on the staff for assistance in learning the area, and they were always eager to help. All of them spoke very good English, knew their town well, and were courteous. The facilities are modern, and well situated in the city center. We will definitely stay again if given the opportunity!

Avoid if possible!!

Not at all happy with the hotel. It is a budget hotel marketed as a four star hotel. Next to a busy road, without a decent lobby, no concierge, no swimming pool, minimal room facilities which are not replenished everyday. Very expensive for the facets offered.

I was pleasantly surprised by the value for the price. The room was clean, nicely furnished,with a comfortable bed. I picked it because I could walk to the main district with the church of Charlemagne and a modern shopping district. The food in the hotel restaurant was good and priced reasonably. I did not go out at night but saw many people walking on the street.

Very good location and a nice clean hotel. The only problems we had were the parking meant queuing for 30 mind as the hotel doesn't have separate parking to the public spaces and the room was a little to earn at night time. Would stay here again at a less busy time of year.

Well worth a visit.

Nice hotel, just slightly out of the town centre, but only a 10 minute walk from the Dom and Rathaus. Rooms were of a nice size, clean and quiet, except for the occasional gobby person in the corridor late at night. Breakfast was excellent - something for everyone! Staff were very helpful and polite. Aachen itself was lovely, with some interesting buildings and gatehouses. The Christmas markets were also good with lots of stalls and food outlets, plus some nice shops on the high street.
