Clean, modern room, but very little amenities: no fridge, no coffee machine or water heater, actually no coffee or water at all in the room, a tiny TV. This is ok if all you do is sleep in the room. But for the same money, you get better value elsewhere.

We enjoyed our stay at Mercure Hotel Aachen. The room was clean and staff quickly responded to our request for extra pillows (we originally only had one each). All of the staff were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was good. Not much noise outside considering how busy the Christmas markets were, so we slept comfortably.

The bed was soooooo comfortable and the staff was very helpful - not just professional but friendly and welcoming.

We had a small issue with our car, we parked it in fron of the hotel to check in and by the time we got back out, there was a police officer writing us up. The officer saw we really were unloading and cancelled the ticket, but the staff got quite upset as they normally have an arrangement with the police that before writing up someone on the special spott \"for unloading only\" they check with reception if the people are indeed checking in and I just know the emlployee must have given him an earful when she spotted him...

We stayed here for two nights. It's a really convenient location for the Altstadt, cathedral and Christmas markets. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the hotel is clean and in good condition, and our room was comfortable. We did hear some noise from the street in the night, but that was the only minor issue. Overall we were very happy with our stay here.

Wonderful time in Aachen, in no small part due to Hotel am Dom. Very friendly and attentive staff. Room was nice and clean. Water pressure made showering pleasant. Quiet and relaxing time. Only problem is that the parking situation is not very clear. I believe the hotel lot is the underground section of the car park, but I parked in the upper floor and had difficulty getting out. If you drive, you might want to get this clarified first. Otherwise, everything was great, and I highly recommend the hotel.

Mercure Hotel a Good Choice but Lacks Amenities

Centrally located, Mercure Aachen is a good hotel choice for the location and nightly fee but rather bare bones - no restaurant or bar (breakfast is offered), hardly any lobby and no in-room mini-bar to keep drinks cold. While my mattress was bit hard, my room was otherwise well appointed and lit. Nice bathroom.

Disappointing Stay

There was a water leak from the ceiling and we had to lose time for our plans while the worker fixed it. The management refused to give us a new room or compensate us for our inconvenience. In addition, the water kettle leaked and we needed to get a new one, but had to retrieve it ourselves-it was not brought to us.

The neighborhood is noisy and the wi does do not keep out the street noise, even on the third floor.

We asked the front desk staff to reserve us a taxi in the morning and they would not, claiming that there are “always taxis out front.” When we needed one in the morning to catch our train however there were none, and we had to deal with it ourselves.

Overall a very disappointing experience for the money paid.

1 night stay, very comfortable hotel. Parking is a challenge in the city but hotel does have designated spots in a nearby garage. Excellent room and breakfast, everyone was friendly. Very-city center, great for the sites and dining, shopping but very busy area.

I had emergency to go back home, I requested refund on the remaining 3 days. But the hotel refused and refused to give me checkout paper or any documents to prove that I checked out!!!!
So I can request a refund. I called and I requested email confirmation they didn’t even send that. I do t understand why !!!

A bottle of sparkling water is a nice touch.

Short walking distance to city center. We preferred having breakfast in Old Markt instead of hotel.

One and only issue, NO PARKING at premises. Closest public parking is on the opposite street (w a huge Mercure sign on the entrance + plenty of spaces) yet we've been told there's no special rate/allocation for the hotel and paid €15 for 1 night👎👎👎👎

die drehtür am eingang ist so schwer und wenn man koffer dabei hat, ist es fast unmöglich mit koffer reinzukommen. entweder man sich selbst oder die koffer. eine andere tür gibt es nicht. auch ohne koffer muss man athlet sein, um die tür zu drehen.
im zimmer ist ein 180cm bett dann gibt es kein platz mehr dich zu bewegen.

the entrance swing door is so heavy and if you have suitcases with you it is almost impossible to get in with suitcases. either yourself or the suitcases. there is no other door. even without suitcases you have to be an athlete to turn the door.
in the room is a 180cm bed then there is no more space to move.

Came to the Cologne/Aachen area on business. Reserved an upgraded room and they put me in a top floor corner room with a spectacular view of the city. Room was large, spacious, plenty of closet space and a nice big bathroom. Service (check-in, check-out, and taxi to Hauptbahnhof) was professional, friendly, and perfect. Location could not be better - close to restaurants and the Aachener Dom & Radhaus.

This was OK for two nights. We had a very quiet and reasonably comfortable room, although a little small. Parking was a bit of a problem. But if you turn down the road that goes under the houses across from the hotel it's very cheap. I paid 9 Euros the first night and only 6 Euros the second night.

I liked the hotel with its perfect location. Staff were friendly, helpful and all areas were very clean. Free WiFi and the room was very comfortable. I didn’t find it noisy even though it is on a main road. There was a good choice for breakfast with fresh bread, meats and fruit. I enjoyed my stay and would stay there again.

Great hotel for a relaxing vacation in Aachen

I loved the central location of the hotel; it's very close to the historic center. It's just a 5 minute walk from the Cathedral and Rathaus. There is a parking garage very very close by if you arrive by car. The staff was very nice, especially during the breakfast. Overall it was a good value for the price.

Unfortunatly the service man couldn’t come til the next day but they offered free water and to move rooms anyway to make me more comfortable. I would highly reccomend this hotel for your stay in Aachen!

Great location for Christmas markets and shopping

Took a taxi from station to hotel approximately 10 euros. Had room on 5th floor on street side. It was noisy with window open but we did want a great location right in the heart of the shops! It’s just a short walk to the Dom from here - lots of pretty shops and cafes and of course the market - perfect! Hotel is clean and room comfortable at a great price. Didn’t have breakfast or use the bar.

The room was very small, but O.K. There was only 1 chair, so that one had to sit on the bed.
There was nowhere in the hotel, where one could sit and do any work.

The Hotel is more like an IBIS than a Mercure, the hotel is clean but is very basic. Not even a free bottle of water in the room. I know the hotel is a city center location but they could do something more to hide the noise (better windows etc...)

Plus: Hotel is a short (2-block) walk to the Charlemagne museum (highly recommended) and Aachen cathedral (English tour at 2 PM). Room has temperature and fan controls. Minus: Hotel signage outside is tiny -- almost invisible from the street. No space in front to park. No info on nearby parking garages on website.

Nice hotel in the city centre

I stayed for two days at this hotel and was very pleased with my experience. The hotel staff were friendly, and both check in and check out were extremely efficient with no waiting around.
My room was quite small but well-appointed with all the necessary amenities. The room had a modern feel to it and I really appreciated the balcony, which whilst overlooking the street was not particularly scenic, it was nice to have the additional space and the opportunity to step outside. The bathroom was clean and modern with only a shower, which functioned well and is fine for most travellers.
Unfortunately I did not have time on either day for breakfast at the hotel so am unable to comment on this aspect.

The main reason I picked the hotel was the advertised exercise room. Yes, they offer the fitness facility but you heave to leave the hotel and walk about 300 Meters to another Hotel (Novotel).

A good hotel even after seven days!

We stayed seven nights in a room on the 5th floor with a great private balcony. The room and shower/toilet room were specious and clean. Staff at reception and those cleaning were friendly. However, the downside was that the bedding was awkward with very heavy duvets and no top sheets available. The other downside that surprised us was that the TV channels were only those in German language or dubbed from English to German, barring a number of news channels. We expected more movies/documentaries to be made available for international guests i.e. in English, French and Spanish (being the most common) or at least the capacity to choose the original language of the movie/documentary before it has been dubbed into German.

Super location in the heart of the historic center of Aachen. Easy walk to the major sites, restaurants and cafes. Parking is across the street from the hotel (and hard to find if you don't know where it is), and convenient. Internet was adequate and 6 euro to upgrade to high speed for streaming video.

This is a basic business hotel with a good location just a few minutes walk from the cathedral and shopping district. And the red light district if you are into that. OK place for a night but I wouldn't recommend an extended stay here. It's on a noisy street. Rooms are too hot and no way to cool them off. And beds are uncomfortable

Great location, couldn't be better.

If you want a German traditional taste in a hotel, this might not be the place, but if you are looking for a modern top quality hotel with good specification in central location, this is the place. Secure parking nearby (but would have liked to know where it was without stepping outside the car and go to the reception for directions!), and Aachen's historic attractions also in walking distance.
One thing disappointing was the broken desk-light. The bulb was cracked and the receptionist couldn't find a replacement. The engineering guy had gone home for the day and nothing could be done about it.

Ideal for business / pleasure mix

Had to visit Aachen on business and wanted to be somewhere where I could also visit the famous parts of the old city - and this hotel is only a few steps from the old cathedral. The hotel has a good restaurant for breakfast (didn't try dinner) and there are lots of restaurants within a two minute walk (Dinnette is particularly good). Rooms were clean and comfortable.

Christmas in Aachen

I only stayed at this place one night, but it was a generally good experience overall and I would definitely stay here again. The staff were quite pleasant with great English - they held my bags for a few hours after I checked out and before my next train. Unfortunately breakfast was not included with my rate and I was unwilling to pay 17 euros for it (though it did look to be among the better breakfasts I saw in Germany). Instead, I went to a nearby grocery store and put some drinks, fruit and snacks in my fridge and for my train ride - 11 euros to feed me all day! The hotel was right in the middle of town with lots of shopping and the cathedral close by. The Christmas markets and their daily produce market were right outside the door. You do need a cab to get there from the train station, however.

Staff was helpful, but no early check-in. We did not eat breakfast as it was too expensive. I would rather spend my money on good local food. Rooms were clean and efficient. No seating area to sit and relax outside the room during the colder months. Our balcony was great, but unused as it was cold. I would stay here again if the price were reasonable.

This is a nice hotel, despite being very close to downtown and the Christmas markets, it was quiet inside. My room was quite large (for a European city hotel), clean, and comfortable. Check in and out was quick and painless. Did not have breakfast in the hotel.

We found the hotel location to be fantastic, being in the middle of the historic city within walking distance to everything. Parking in garage is close by. Hotel has very generous room, excellent modern decor and very nice bathroom/shower. Many English channels on tv.

The only downside was the air con was shut down, ready for the Fall. Fortunately we have 2 windows in our room for cross ventilation or it would rather uncomfortable. while it was 22 degrees outside. It did get noisy outside from the street at night while sleeping with the windows opened.
