An affordable hotel

The best part was its close proximity to the railway station & the old town which was about 10 mins on foot. There are places to eat, cafes & shops nearby so quite convenient. The room was comfortable, clean but simple.

Hotel in need of renovation, place gradually falling to bits. Room had cigarette burn marks, cracked window, dents in the skirt board area, extremely small and generally poor for Ibis standards. The good things were proximity to station, breakfast and free luggage storage.

The location is great and the room was proportionally clean. The room lacked several basic stuff like slippers, garbage can...etc. the room is really small and also the bathroom (for the price paid 89 euro/night). We tried to call the receptions several times no one answers the phone so we had to go personally to the reception whenever we needed something. They didnt have tooth brush or paste for instance. It’s just not a typical Ibis experience

Tiny bathroom it's true!

Cramped room & miniscule bathroom & we're a petite couple so for anyone with size &/or height, staying here would definitely be a challenge! Friendly tho & clean. Rubbish thin pillows & only 1 each was poor, especially for the price. Air con a plus, lack of a kettle tho.

Small and AC doesn't not work at all

The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance from the train station. The staff was very friendly. The rooms are extremely small and not suitable for 2 people. There is barely enough room for a suitcase. The room was clean but be aware if you are traveling in the summer the air conditioning is a joke. Be prepared for some hot nights.

Location: 6-7 mins walk to the historic center and 1min walk from the train station (hauptbannhof)
Staff: very friendly and helpful (check-in in less than 5 mins!)
Room: very clean but small, the twin beds were 80cm wide or less but very comfortable, the pillows could be better
Bathroom: clean but very small

Other Positives: TV has a lot of channels, hairdryer, room price and Parking ( 7€ for the whole day)

Other Negatives: No coffee machine or coffee in the room, just at the reception bar and dining room. The walls are too thin and you can hear everything in the corridor.

Extremely small bathroom, very noisy from the street, miniaturized room, paper thin wall so one can hear anything from the rooms next doors, but all of this is in accordance to the low price which this hotel charges, so difficult to expect more / Convenient location in proximity to the central train station.

Cheap and well located

Very good value. Didn’t Pay a lot, hotel was clean and nicer than we imagined. 6min walk to main train station and 12 min to the centre. So worth it! We brought our dog and had no problems.

A dog friendly hotel, a nice and plentiful buffet breakfast and good location just 10 minutes walking from historical Aachen. Good WiFi. Friendly front-desk. Has its own parking. A problem was we were placed on a smoking room the first night to have a non-smoking room the following night.

Very noisy, definitely wouldnt stay again

Upon arrival at the hotel, the reception staff did not appear to have my reservation on file, they then gave us a twin room (instead of the double we booked) the hotel is located at the corner of a busy junction and although some traffic noise can be heard, this wasn't the issue. The level of noise from surrounding rooms and the hallway ensured that we did not get a proper night’s sleep on both nights of our stay. I very rarely complain and it takes quite a lot to keep me awake but this was really quite bad and I would suggest ear-plugs if you do plan to stay here or alternatively, stay somewhere that's worth the money - this place is definitely not.

They had no idea that I had a reservation and transferred me to a \"house of horror\" buschhausenn hotel.
This hotel closed its door and I had to sleep in the street. The lady who mistreated me terribly.

My stay is just for sleep. I went out during the day, no activity in he hotel.
At the end of the day, after work, I was very relax in this hotel. It's not busy like some hotel in the big city.

World's smallest bathroom

Ibis hotels generally do the basics well and the Aachen HBF Ibis is no different. However, it has the world smallest bathroom - it is really amazing how small it is, you can hardly get in or out of the shower. Also the rooms aren't completely soundproof so you can hear people talking in the corridor outside.

Not what is says on the tin

Booked a non-smoking room. However at around 9pm our room started to stink of cigarette smoke. The reason for this being that the majority of rooms on our corridor were smoking rooms (I'd go as far as to say ours probably was too and they had just removed the ash trays prior to our arrival) and people were smoking in the hall ways too. Went down to complain to reception and ask if we could change rooms but was told this wasn't possible as they wouldn't be able to re-sell our room. After kicking up a bit of a fuss, was told that somebody would come and check our room \"in a few minutes\" and if they felt that they could re-sell the room then they would move us. Half an hour later I had to return to the front desk as no-one had been up. I handed over the \"15 minute guarantee\" poster which informs you that the hotel will rectify any issue may have within 15 minutes or you would be refunded, but was told that because wanting to have a non-smoking room was the \"wish\" of the guest and not a requirement, then it didn't really matter that the room stank of cigarette smoke. Basically they couldn't care less. We ended up checking out 4 hours earlier than required (at 8am) as the air in the room had that dry stale feeling normally brought on my smoke and we had both woken up with sore dry throats. In all the hotel couldn't care less that they hadn't provided the product or service that we had paid for, and this will be the last time that we will be using an Ibis hotel.

Comfortable short stay with great service

A two day stay for business. The staff were very friendly and allowed an early check in. I appreciated the baggage storage on departure day, as other hotels from this chain have not permitted that. Breakfast had a lot of options, but limited hot food options. Room was comfortable, although the bathroom is tiny and would be difficult to manoeuvre in for a large person. A small amount of road noise, but it didn't really affect me.

This is fairly typical of an Ibis. Rather spartan furniture and basic facilities. The worst thing is the noise from the road. Luckily I could change my room to the inside. The bathroom was very cramped as were the cupboards. They only provide winter weight duvets even though it was hot outside. Generally a place to avoid.

An Ibis is an Ibis - WYSIWYG

You know what you get with an Ibis and I stayed at Ibis hotels most of my working life, until their quality-price relationship went askew. Sadly this one had no restaurant. Getting into the car park was a challenge. Located a ten min walk from the cathedral was its redeeming feature. The architect had fun with so few right angles in the building, which made the room oddly compact and I managed to bang my head on the wall sitting on the loo, (really), in the bathroom which measured 3 feet x 7.

Hotel for Aachen

Hotel clean and within 15 minutes walk to city centre. Rooms very small, however they are equipped with everything that you may need for a short stay. We kept falling over case or chair in room because we had barely any room to move between bed and on suite. The on suite is also very compact.
Food for breakfast can be obtained cheaply form the shop opposite so we did not need to eat in the hotel.

Overall I am greatly satisfied with my stay at Ibis Aachen Hauptbahnhof Hotel. The room was just the right size, comfy bed. The bathroom was a little too small for my liking, but it is more than enough for a couple of nights. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the noise of traffic starting from 6 a:m. Ask for a room not facing the street! Otherwise, great service, even during the late hours )))

had a good time in Aachen. Chose this hotel due to location as it is quite central and most things can be done by foot. Had free Wi-Fi in the room which was great! the car parks were small and I had a rather large car and struggled a bit (but that's just me I guess)
The room was fairly clean and so was the bathroom. It was quite small but I was there only for 4 nights and all I needed was a bed and a shower, and so it has done its deed!

This is a working hotel, not a place for an extended holiday or romantic get-away. It is clean, safe, a short walk from the train station and an easy walk to the centre of town. The staff was helpful and friendly. It was a fine, inexpensive place to use as base for a 3 day working trip.

We had a one-night stay on our way home from holiday. We found the hotel easily and the reception staff were friendly and helpful, advising us where we could find a restaurant at 10pm in the evening. The only negative thing was the size of the shower room - smallest I have ever seen!

Good experience in this Hotel. Stuff at the reception and restaurant's been very nice and willing to help. Smiling everytime. Though the charwoman was really violent, waking me up before 8am by kicking the doors (she really didn't knock), after sending her away and putting \"no disturb\" sign, she started to be really noisy.. Except of this it was a good experience. But this made me think about some other hotel next time in Aachen...

Hallways smell from cigerettes, room lock did not work well and was not fixed for the 6 days of my stay, rooms have no coffee maker or fridge, safes are located at the reception. prices for drinks are incorrect (it says 2.40 Eur for a pot of coffee, and you get a cup). located a good 20 minutes walk from the center.
However, staff was friendly.

Perfect stop over hotel

We visited this hotel as a stop over as we were travelling from Italy to the UK. It was very well situated and clean but it did smell of cigarettes & by the time we got there, all of the car parking spaces had been taken. This was 11 at night so it might be worthwhile trying to reserve a parking space (although we did find a secure multi-storey about half a kilometre away). We ordered pizza & a few drinks in the hotel bar/cafe and even though it was very late the food was perfectly adequate and the service excellent. All in all it was a good hotel for our requirements & budget although I would not want to stay there for a long period of time.

Cheap and effective hotel

Everything required in a hotel for a one or two nights stay. Both rooms that I saw had smaller than usual bathrooms (with showers), but usable. Otherwise a good hotel. Hotel car park was fine - just drive up to the gate, and there is a button to get in. Location is about ten minutes walk from the tourist area of town.
