Breakfast staff v. helpful as I have to eat gluten free. Very good wide choice for breakfast.
Room plain, but quiet and had all the essentials.
Lady on desk when I left couldn't have cared less - barely said good bye, No thank you or 'hope you enjoyed your stay'. Hardly looked up from desk!

Staffs are super friendly, and professional. The room was perfectly cleaned. They changed my room as I found a big bee came inside of the first room I got. The air conditioner works well which is rare to find here in Germany. Great price-quality ratio.

We stayed as 4 sets of couples. Going to a wedding in the next town but stayed in Aachen for 2 nights, hotel was basic but comfortable, clean and reasonable. Great walking distance to the centre with an easy access car park. Helpful staff getting taxis. Service in the bar could have been better hence the rating but all other service was very good. Would recommend here and will come back

This is real 2* hotel. Hotel doesn't provide fridge, individual bath accessories and air conditioner. If you window looks to the street than you should choose between close window with lack of oxygen and fresh air with very noisy street. Breakfast is good. Sometimes they provide watermelon. Room is small but very clean.

Budget hotel with a decent breakfast buffet. The hotel is located a short walk to the center of Aachen. It is a 5 minute walk to the main train station which makes it an ideal choice to explore nearby Liege, Maastricht and Köln.

No frills hotel in a great location

No frills hotel conveniently situated a short walk from the train station, bus stops and old part of town. The location is great. Just bear in mind the room is fairly small and no frills, and the service isn’t outstanding. Several of the staff at front desk weren’t overly friendly or welcoming, and hardly ever smiled. They weren’t able to provide an umbrella on the rainy days, so bring one!

Good location at reasonable price

The IBIS is well located 5 minutes walk from the main railway station or a 15 walk into Aachen centre. Close by are several restaurants and the hotel also offers breakfast and evening dinner for a charge.
Staff are friendly, there is free basic wi-fi but better speed requires a payment of 6 Euros per 24 hours.
The hotel has more than 120 rooms on 4 floors but only one small lift/elevator so there can be a wait at busy times, same with the small reception but staff are helpful and efficient.
Rooms are small but decent, those on the back side of the hotel are quiet but there can be some noise from the next door rooms, also the corridor but a double door system helps reduce this.
Room cleanliness good but could have been better.
Overall happy for the price and location, have tried to stay here in the past but the hotel was fully booked and seems to stay busy. Will be back...if not full!

Great location and inexpensive

This hotel is not even a five minute walk from the train station and less than a 10 minute walk to the Dom. There is a park in front of the hotel that was ideal for walking our dogs. The staff were very friendly and we were allowed to check in early. Prices for everything are on the low end (€8/day parking, €11 breakfast buffet, and €8/day per dog) are all very reasonable for Germany. It is a no frills hotel with the only bathroom item being a soap dispenser in the shower. Only down side for us was there is no a/c and the inside of the hotel was much warmer than the weather outside. We had to leave the window open to keep the temperature down and the street noise on a Saturday night was annoying until well after midnight.
If you're looking for a good location on a budget and don't mind warmth, this is ideal.

Hotel is very convenient to the train station. The hotel and the train sit on a ridge of a small hill, so walking from downtown center involves a gradual climb. No evident free-use computer in the lobby. Room was big enough for a large suitcase to be left open. Good wifi.

Hotel is in walking distance to Aachen's main attractions (Cathedral, Market square) and very close to the central train station. It has its own parking lot and provides a decent breakfast buffet. If you are sensitive to street noise I recommend you stay in a room facing the back. I have stayed multiple times already but wish they would soon paint the rooms.

Good value little hotel near the center.

The rooms were small, but not too small. The shower had plenty of hot water and good water pressure, but sadly the water didn't drain so you were always standing in a pool of water. The staff at the front desk were extremely helpful and pleasant. The hotel is not in the center of town, but it is very close to the train station and only a short walk into town. Plus, there is a little German bar about 15 meters from the hotel. I guess my biggest complaint was since it was a budget hotel in Germany there was no AC, but also no screens in the windows or any fan. All in all I would stay there again, but if I did so in the summer I might buy a fan in town and stick it in my room.

Pros: the location and the price is fine; the double bed is good; the staff is nice.
Cons: 1) the room is not at all sound-proofing! You can hear clearly when your neighboring rooms are using showers or open/close their doors. Basically you will be awaken around 7 to 8 in the morning 2) A small dirty hair was found in the wash basin when I entered the room (well, it's no big deal but it should not happen)

Requested a quiet room and ended up getting a room opposite the lift and immediately above the hotel entrance. Woke up several times during the night by noises from corridors and outside hotel entrance. The most noisy room I ever stayed in.

Staff was impatient while asked for directions to various sights in the city. Not a friendly bunch of people. Period.

Ideal perfect stay, would stay again!

The rooms were very clean, spacious enough and comfortable. Best of all it was so nice and warm the whole night (we stayed in December) and we got a perfect nights sleep every night. Plus we had free wifi in the room which was a God send to have so my child can play on the ipad for a while. Shower always had ample hot water and they provide you with HUGE bottle of liquid soap for your face, hair and body and not those tiny bottles you get in most hotels. This is the ideal place to stay when in Aachen and we plan to stay here again next time we come to visit family.

As there were many eateries around we didn't sample breakfast or food/ snacks in the restaurant, however seeing the snack menu which is available most hours was disappointing, as there didn't seem to be much food on there,certainly no sandwiches even.

I usually really like ibis hotels. Even though this one was (as ibis almost always are) clean, and it had a good location, it was probably the smallest and simplest hotel room I've ever stayed in. No facial tissues, no alarm clock, miniature bathroom were really the only downsides. Not what I was expecting, but still a good hotel.

Smart, clean and well-located

Overlooking one of the medieval gates to Aachen, the hotel is a short walk from the Dom, the wonderful cathedral, and the beautiful historic city centre. The hotel is smart, very clean, and comfortable. The best budget hotel I have stayed in. The staff were friendly and there was a great atmosphere in the breakfast room in the morning. We stayed for 2 nights en route to a skiing holiday. There is a secure rear car park entered through the front of the hotel. I would certainly stay here again.

Ibis chain hotel - you know what to expect

An Ibis hotel, so you know exactly what you are getting, clean, functional, perfectly comfortable, if rather bland. An extra €10 for breakfast was not good value. Only a couple of minutes from the station, which was fine as I was arriving late and glad to get there quickly. Ten minutes walk from the prettier area of the city centre, which was fine.

Ibis Aachen Marschiertor--Great, Clean Small Hotel

We've stayed here twice and have been very satisfied.

It's VERY clean, has a friendly staff, offers a really WONDERFUL breakfast buffet and all day snack service.

There is a hairdryer & body wash in the bathroom but, you need to bring your own shampoo.

We'd gladly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Aachen.

Tout bien, sauf qu'ils nous avaient attribué une chambre avec une porte intérieure communiquant à la chambre à côté de la nôtre. Et le grand soucis c'est que les portes pouvaient s'ouvrir et donc nos voisins auraient pu avoir accès à notre chambre pendant la nuit ou pendant notre absence en journée. Pas très rassurant

Nous avons vu avec la réception pour demander à changer de chambre, ce qui a été fait dans la foulée
