The restaurant at the hotel was fully booked so we had the option to dine at a small bar at the hotel or drive to the nearest town which we eventually did.
The main photos used to promote the hotel show a updated modern rooms. Our rooms were 80’s style and had not been modernized. The gym equipment is also 80’s and the photos shown online hide this.
Hard pillows with heavy stuffing.

I was only at the hotel for one night and arrived late. However the receptionist was friendly and said they would open the gym for me at 6am (instead of 7am) as I had to leave early. Breakfast was standard hotel fare with something for most tastes. The scrambled eggs were overdone but everything else was good. Coffee was a bit weak

Relaxing Stay

We stayed for a night and had a wonderful time.
The check-in was smooth and the reception staff were very friendly. Our room was so nice: the bed was big and comfortable, the room was really quiet, the shower was large, and there were shampoos/ conditioner/ body wash from Rituals.
We had food at the Bistro which wasn't the cheapest (about 25 euros each), but the food was really good. If you want to eat in the restaurant then you need a reservation, but then you don't get to enjoy the patio area next to the pond.
The pool and sauna facilities were good. The pool is small, but it wasn't busy when we went in.
We paid extra for the breakfast and it was really good. They had a very large selection of different foods.
We would definitely recommend!

Beautiful hotel in the countryside

Amazing location not too far from the Aachen CHIO Horse show. We loved the amenities (pool was excellent) and the breakfast buffet. Rooms are spacious and bed very comfortable. Wish we could have stay longer. We will come back next year.

Fantastic resort to stay in, rooms lovely with very comfy beds and cleaned every day. We stayed for 5 nights the bistro food was lovely we never ate in the restaurant but it did look nice. The spa area was great lovely pool and sauna, gym available but slightly disappointed as it didn’t have a running machine. Robes and towels are available at reception however every time I asked for a robe none were available apparently this was due to the laundry service which the hotel used. Not a problem though as more towel’s were provided. Breakfast was amazing, great choice of hot and cold food available. All in all a fabulous experience. Would definitely recommend.

Relaxing stay in Limburgh

The best things about Vaalsbroek are its proximity to the countryside (in the middle of it!), the animals (hint...cows like apples), the mosoleum, the restaurant (fantastic), and the fitness / pool area. This is why I return. The rooms are Scandinavian simple and far below the level of Kasteel Bloemendahl (a more upscale hotel nearby where I also stay often). Service is Dutch (non-existent to poor). So if you want a finer hotel with better service, choose Bloemendahl. If you want to walk in the fields and have a pool and gym, pick Vaalsbroek. I alternate myself.

Truly enjoyed the stay!

Found very well adopted to Covid-19 precautions. Restaurant and bistro recently re-opened, obviously complying with 1.5 meter distancing regulations. Compliments to the hotel staff!
Nice indoor swimming pool. Clean room and good beds. A good location for visiting nearby cities of Aachen, Maastricht, Valkenburg and the ‘drielandenpunt’.

I came back to this wonderful location and had a disappointing experience.The room offerred a superb view on a giant garbage container. There was no water in bottles in the room and the minibar not in service. Plastic cups instead of glasses. Old yellow plastic kettle to prepare you instant coffee. Check out was a disaster. I was presented a bill for a booking that has been already paid. As I was prepared for this ‘type of interaction’ and had previously checked that payment had been made, I immediately showed my credit card online statement. Staff was saying that the amount on the credit card statement was not matching. Long discussion with staff to explain why amount on credit card statement was different (orbucks has been deducted!!) Had to show again all emails and recalculate in front of the staff to it was correct. This took about 20 minutes and really ruined my day. Unexpected!!! Can the front desk just call Orbitz? I definitely expect more service from so called stars hotels like this.

Nice and Cozy Kasteel!

Nice and Cozy. You have to walk outside to get to the breakfast restaurant.
In-room breakfast is additional 15 Euro and you also hae to pay fot 20 Euro breafast to get this service.
Nice small swimming pool. Too small for teenagers.
Overall nice hotel, but a bit isolated. Recommended for family.

My wife and I had a great stay at the Bilderberg Kasteel Vaalsbroek hotel. The room was nice, clean and modern. The bathroom was spacious and well equipped (even though it could use active ventilation). The breakfast buffet is great and offers a large variety of food.

The area around the hotel is gorgeous. In case you have a few free minutes, I would recommend to walk through the park behind the \"Kasteel\", or to sit on the patio of the hotel bar while enjoying the view and a drink.

maybe my favorite castle hotel in Vaals

This is my 3rd castle ive stayed at in the Vaals - Aachen - Maastricht area. probably my favorite. it has a lively bar in the evening and there are 2 restaurants, both very expensive though. the grounds are lovely, and you can walk, ride a bike or jog in the countryside for hours. even feed the cows apples. i went on a lively run that took me into germany, back to the netherlands, into belgium and back to the netherlands. the town has a wonderful market and a number of good restaurants. i dont recommend local cuisine much. I dont recommend eating at the Zwarte Madonna. l despite the charm of some of its interior. Basic uninspired blah of the region and poor service. i dont know where to eat in vaals yet. do go to the church museum next to Zwarte Madonna. Do venture into the countryside and surrounding villages. Do spend time in Aachen. Do spend a night at least in Maastricht if you can. it is a jewel of Europe.

Overall our stay was good. We arrived after 10 pm, and found the room without bath as described in the booking. We talked to the reception and learned that not all rooms with bath, and they were sold out that night.Then the hotel offered to leave the swimming pool open for us to have a swim. We enjoyed that.
However the breakfast was not so impressive, there were not so many options

Beautiful place at the Dutch/German border

Great place. We had a large room with a terrace. Beautiful surroundings, especially if you have time for walks. Two drawbacks: room felt slightly damp and we had aconnecting door in the room which created a noise problem. Five minute drive to Vaals center, 15 minute drive to the center of Aachen.

Don't be fooled by the picture!

a large hotel complex on beautiful grounds in beautiful countryside! Large room, comfortable, but no air conditioning. The breakfast is out of this world! Complex has a lovely outdoor patio for evening drinks and light fare, that was quite enjoyable! The rooms are not located in the building shown on the picture, but in a round, fairly modern attached structure. However, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here:)

Perfect location for a quiet getaway

Ideally located - minutes away from the lovely surrounding cities of Vaals in Holland, and Aachen on the German side - the Kasteel Vaalsbroek is very well maintained by a welcoming and helpful team. The rooms (I booked 2 deluxe doubles and one junior suite) were perfectly clean, and decent in size although one of the doubles was clearly smaller than the other one. Without placing special requests, the hotel located all the rooms close to each other which was also great, as we had outside space to have a smoke together without disturbing other guests by walking around. The only small drawback is not specific to this hotel: in Holland, the provided amenities such as toiletries, bathrobes, slippers etc. are always very limited so make sure to bring your own if you consider them important for your stay. Overall fantastic experience in a good hotel (make sure to take a dip in the pool and to go by the sauna, perfectly clean) that I will definitely recommend!

If you want it quiet, this is the place to be

We stayed for 3 nights here, as were wanted to be close to Aachen, DE. The hotel staff is very friendly, the rooms are good sized and very clean, the restaurant is a bit pricey with limited offerings but relatively good. The only thing that I found wrong is having to go outside to get to the breakfast area, no big deal but during the winter months requires to put on jacket (an extra nuisance . The breakfast buffet is awesome though, The only reason I gave it a low marl for location because there is NOTHING around, nothing to do if you want to stay local.

Staff was welcoming and helpful. Rooms were immaculate, but a little cramped with the extra bed added that we had to have. You don't really get to see the inside of the main house, which was disappointing. Meals were all good, but room service menu was limited. Location was very close to Aachen and Maastricht, but out in the countryside so very relaxing. Would stay again.

Het ziet er op de plaatjes wel wat anders uit, kamers zijn niet in het kasteel zelf maar een gebouw ernaast. We hadden problemen met het weglopen van het douchewater en een deur die gesmeerd moest worden en 2x gemeld, werd niks aan gedaan. Ontbijt is op zich ok maar weinig variatie. Bar ok, restaurant geen gebruik van gemaakt. Matig hotel maar ok voor een paar nachten

Ik verbleef drie dagen in dit hotel en was helaas erg teleurgesteld over de kwaliteit van het onthaal en het gedrag van het personeel. Vanaf onze aankomst voelden we een totaal gebrek aan professionaliteit en vriendelijkheid. Het personeel leek weinig aandachtig en miste duidelijk gevoel voor dienstverlening.

Er werd geen bijzondere aandacht besteed aan de gasten, eenvoudige verzoeken namen buitensporig veel tijd in beslag en de algemene houding gaf de indruk dat klanttevredenheid geen prioriteit was. Jammer, want de locatie heeft potentieel, maar het team zou beter moeten worden opgeleid en meer betrokken moeten zijn.

In de huidige staat kan ik dit hotel niet aanbevelen, vooral niet voor wie op zoek is naar een aangenaam verblijf en een ontvangst die past bij een hotelservice van niveau.

De locatie is prachtig, daar valt niets op aan te merken

Sehr schöne große Zimmer in wunderschöner Umgebung. Leider wurde meine Buchung zunächst nicht gefunden und mir gesagt, es gäbe kein Zimmer für mich. Dies zog sich hin und erst nach Vorlage des Buchungsbeleges wurde die Reservierung gefunden. Eine Entschuldigung gab es nicht.

Mooi hotel maar de badkamer kon wel een opknapbeurt gebruiken. Plafond zag er niet schoon uit. De badkamerdeur was aan de onderkant gaan wellen en het kozijn kon wel een likje verf gebruiken. Ook de temperatuur was in de kamer niet te regelen. De minibar op de kamer was leeg. Het personeel was zeer vriendelijk en servicegericht. De bar bood meer dan genoeg keuzes. Het ontbijt was werkelijk perfect.

Zeer vriendelijk personeel. Wat ons wel heel erg op viel was dat de kamer erg donker, klein en een beetje bedompt was. Het toilet hing scheef en min of meer los. Ontbijt was prima eten echter veel tafels stonden nog vol met rommel van voorgangers. Werden niet opgeruimd, schooongemaakt en opnieuw gedekt. Speciaal iemand voor moeten gaan vragen. Bij de vruchtensap waren de glazen op en ook weer moeten gaan vragen. 1 koffieautomaat was defect en met 10 man in de rij voor de enig werkende automaat. Na een half uur konden we door al het gedoe pas aan ons ontbijt beginnen. Voor deze prijs mag je echt wel wat meer verwachten.

informatie van kamer klopt niet ,i.p.v.32 vierkante meter kreeg ik een kamer van 20. zal hoognodig de informatie op website veranderen ! Onderkant van bed steekt een heel stuk uit ,waarschijnlijk veel langer dan matras, heel leuk ,maar ik stootte meerdere keer met mijn knie tegen aan ,geen comfort, erg vervelend. Dan lag er een kaartje op bed met de bedoeling een cijfer te geven voor het schoonmaak team, een tip voor ze: van tijd tot tijd ook de afvoer schoonmaken ,water loopt niet goed weg. Dat allemaal in kamer 103.

Op zich goed - hadden balkon gereserveerd maar kregen terras - geen airco op de kamer - terrasdeur kan bij openen niet vast gezet worden dus voor eventuele indringers makkelijk toegankelijk- bij gesloten deur is het te warm en het dekbed te dik voor de zomermaanden - niet hygiënisch opgemaakt- onderlaken rechtstreeks op matras- lege minibar

Kamer netjes, comfortabel. Bedden heerlijk. Ontbijt top. Restaurant ver van tevoren reserveren. Bistro kaart beperkt. Bediening van uitstekend en gastvrij. ( woensdag 6/8.) tot bot en ongeïnteresseerd (donderdag 7/8). Zeker voor herhaling vatbaar. Zuid-Limburg blijft een fantastische bestemming!

Wij hadden kamer 240 en één van de bedden had een doorgezakte matras waardoor ik slecht heb geslapen en met pijn in nek en rug opstond. Dit de volgende ochtend direct gemeld. Hoe de manager hier mee omging was in één woord fantastisch! Wij kregen een gratis Upgrade naar een mooie suite en het gebruik van alle faciliteiten uit de minibar! Dan toch één puntje van kritiek, het ontbijt moet echt opschalen, de afbak broodjes waren keihard en droog idem voor het stokbrood, dat was er de volgende dag al niet meer. Maar voor de rest geweldig.

Het is een prachtig Hotel. Eten is goed. En op een goede afstand tot diverse faciliteiten.
Enige minpunt was het uitzicht vanaf de kamer op een afzuig buis die herrie maakt als je graag met het raam open slaapt.
Maar goed hotel en vriendelijk personeel!

Prima verblijf. Rustig en geen overlast. Kamer ruim en in goede staat. Beetje vreemde regeling wat schoonmaak betreft. En dan al helemaal vreemd dat er dan een service charge in rekening wordt gebracht per nacht als je er geen gebruik van maakt. Voor welness en restaurant moet je ruimschoots van te voren reserveren anders vis je achter het net. En met ruimschoots heb ik het over meer dan 1 week van te voren.

In het restaurant was er 1 serveerster die rustig in het beste restaurant van Nederland kan werken en 1 die nog niet in een frietkraam thuishoort. TV kapot, luidruchtig op de gang, Duits echtpaar parkeert auto gewoon voor de deur van de receptie ipv op de parkeerplaats en vind dat heel normaal zelfs als ze erop gewezen worden

Fantastische locatie! Wij hadden 2 losse boekingen en werden zonder problemen aan elkaar gezet zodat we niet van kamer hoefden te wisselen. Ondanks dat we 2 nachten verbleven stond er na 1 dag al een zak met nieuwe handdoeken, thee en koffie voor de deur! Echt helemaal super!
