I must say this is one of the worst hotel experience I’ve had. The hotel is located in a decent area within walking distance to the Christmas markets. Unfortunately, this the only good thing I can say about this hotel.

Hotel is old and dirty. Room is small, bathroom are extremely small. Wifi are almost non-existent. Have a difficult time connecting to the wifi.

The front desk receptionist are terrible, seems lost when you ask them questions, on top of all these the guy is loud and extremely rude. Terrible customer service.

Great service, comfortable and clean room, great location. I would recommend that they put up a better frosted glass or at least a window sticker for the bathroom window. It was extremely awkward trying to use the toilet or shower when the window that left little to the imagination was where people would walk. Then to have a clear glass shower in direct line of sight???

No way I would shower at night. Everything else was great but rm 118 needs a better window cover.

Arrived on the biggest festival day of the year but staff was great and helped us navigate the crazy parking situation as the city gates were closed making their normal lot unavailable. Room was small as expected but perfectly located near everything. Breakfast was very good and lots of room for the packed house. Ate at the hotel restaurant which was very good as well. Great value and spotlessly clean.

This is an excellent option if you want to spend some time in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. This property is right next to the old city wall which runs around the old town and there is an entrance a few meters from the hotel entrance, and because it's not right in the heart of the old town, it's quite peaceful after sunset.

The room was small (by north american standards) but definitely served the purpose. There are a lot of antique and old-world touches everywhere while being modern in places like the washroom and having an A/C unit.

The restaurant in the hotel is also very good and the included breakfast was very enjoyable for our family -- though don't expect a waffle station or anything like that. It was a somewhat traditional German breakfast with lots of cold cuts, cheese, hardboiled and scrambled eggs, and some break with various spreads. We loved it.

I would wholeheartedly recommend this as a fantastic place to experience all that Rothenburg old town has to offer.

P5 parking lot right outside the Pulverturm (PowderTower) entrance, which is right by the hotel. They also have their own parking, and parking lot in front of hotel. Polizie monitor, so make sure to purchase your parking pass if you drive.

Restaurant on premises with good German dishes and Bier/Wine selection. Rooms are quiet and clean.

This was in a good location, easy to find by car. I had booked and paid for a triple room as I wanted two totally separate beds because I was travelling with a family member, not a partner. We were allocated a double room and there were no separate beds. An approach to the staff for reallocation toa room with separate beds was unsuccessful.

We arrived at noon for 4 PM check-in. There was no one at desk so waiter in restaurant just said 4 PM. We had reserved parking but had to pay to park in public lot till 4 - not ideal and cost an extra eight euros. Room was updated, clean and quiet. We had three adults and it had a double bed and a single. Breakfast included was a nice spread of some American type foods (cereal, yogurt, scrambled eggs plus breads and jams, meats, pound cake, cherries etc. Very pleasant staff. Parking was $15 Euros per day cash and we had to remove the car by 1 PM. Convenient, quiet location to sites and shops.

Two minor reasons they miss the 5 stars, the A/C unit makes a disturbing noise while in operation and for a while after it is off. Enough to wake you. Also, they need to make the parking situation clearer, the parking right in front is limited to two hours, the parking the works for over night is on the other side of the city wall.

Quaint hotel inside the walls of Old Rothenberg. Room was clean and comfortable. The TV didn’t work. If arriving by car, there’s no free parking. There is plenty of parking lots, but all are paid.
The room was a bit warm and no fan is provided. I didn’t ask if a fan could be brought to the room.

The biggest disappointment was the breakfast buffet. I’ve seen a number of great ones on our Europe trip and this was by far the worst. Not as many food options and what was there was just okay.

Beautiful old building in a very good area. The attached restaurant was very good. The staff was helpful and friendly and the breakfast was fresh and delicious. Parking was convenient. The room itself was pretty good - fairly dated and non descript, the bathroom shower was leaking and the tub was high off the ground, and the shampoo was empty but we were only there 1 night so not a huge deal. The beds were comfortable and we liked that the beds that sleep 4 were separated into 2 spaces.

We were there during a hot spell and there’s no air conditioning. One fan for a divided quadruple room didn’t help much, but otherwise, we had everything we needed.

Great location for exploring the old city! Very close to the town square. Included breakfast as well so that was a bonus. Great food, and the sausage is made by the owner... It was amazing. Or room was fine. Comfy bed. Quite small but we were only there for a night or two so we didn't mind. Friendly staff but they weren't available in the morning to ask about an extra night. I think, like everywhere, they have staffing shortages. Overall it was great and we wouldn't hesitate to book again.

I went to the front desk to ask if I can have late check out for 10 minutes
But before I finish my request the woman with no personality said no I know the hotel was no sold out
The reason I want the 10 minutes is because my flight was cxl and I need to make sure I need to extend 1 more day
So my flight was cxl I took my money to a different hotel for the night

Location is very good, and public parking is right in front. The included breakfast is very good, and besides the usual European fare, has scrambled and hard boiled eggs. Rooms don’t have USB chargers, and tub had a hand held shower (not a walk-in shower), and if you’re tall, watch your head on the dormer drops in the ceiling in all rooms and hallway (but that’s part of the charm.) We are both 6 foot and didn’t hit our head once. All in all, a good place to stay!

Just a couple blocks from Christmas Market and inside the city walls. Very welcoming and clean facility. Dining room staff were excellent too. We would gladly stay here again. Humongous parking lot across the street and parking was free 6PM to 9 AM daily. We could see our car from our room. Breakfast buffet food was typical of German hotels; eggs, lunch meats, assorted breads and cheeses, yogurt, etc, etc,. No bacon, potatoes or pancakes and waffles. But for one day it was plenty and nourishing.

Small, superb hotel in fascinating Rothenberg

Hotel Schranne is located near Rothenberg's wall--we could view the walk way atop the wall from our room. The location within the old city puts everything within walking distance. We visited in the off season, but the town's fascination wasn't diminished in the least, and the attentiveness of the staff meant that we had no problems. All in all, the hotel is sehr gut! The staff is helpful and friendly and willing to meet the needs of their guests wherever they can, perhaps because this is largely a family affair. The breakfast was superb and the onsite restaurant provides wonderful food--including venison during our visit! The food was among the best we had not only in Rothenberg, but throughout our time in Germany. The room is not large, but comfortable, quiet, and well-appointed. Parking is limited at the hotel for those who bring a car, but a public lot is just outside the wall. We highly recommend Hotel Schranne!

We drove through Bavaria on the Romantic Road and stopped in Rothenberg to do the Night Watchman tour -- don't miss it if you are in the area. Do all your shopping here and mail it home. This was our only hotel with a bath tub and my toes needed a good soak after all those cobblestone streets.

The hotel itself is pretty nice - wonderful location, free parking, friendly staff, nice-sized rooms, decent buffet breakfast.
Unfortunately, wi-fi was non-existent in the room, and barely working downstairs.
But my biggest problem was the shower - because of the slanted ceiling in the bathroom, the shower head was at the waist level, so you can only shower sitting down in the bath tub, and the water is splashed everywhere.. By far, the most inconvenient shower I've ever used in a hotel..

Nice hotel in a historic town

Very warm the first night (38+ outside made the whole house warm); second night we got a room with a/c which helped a lot (but at a rather steep extra price). Internet connection was very bad; most of the time not working at all.
Nice restaurant / bar in the back yard with very helpful and friendly staff. All in all a nice hotel we can recommend to others visiting Rothenburg.

The room was big and very nice. My wife and I decided to have dinner at the hotel and the food was great and very reasonable prices. Would have given and overall excellent rating except for when we checked in there was no parking available and the older-women who checked us in was rude about it. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and I would stay there again.

Great location close to the center of Rothenburg. Typical German breakfast buffet, our room was a little noisy (can hear neighbors shower etc) and very basic, but clean. The hotel parking lot was full, but there's a large public parking place in front of the hotel.
Would stay there again, but probably try a different room. To be fair, we booked last minute.

Inside the wall

Great hotel inside the old walls of Rothenburg o.d.T. Parking was available just outside the front door or if that is full, within a short walk through the medieval wall outside the town. Everything was clean and the beds comfortable. We had a room on their ground floor facing the street/parking and it was well insulated and quiet - did not hear a thing throughout the night. Great breakfast with an enormous amount of food and available seating. Just a note-this hotel will have tour groups/buses. They handle it beautifully and quickly. Staff is friendly, and helpful. Check your maps on approaching Rothenburg - our car's GPS system took us through the middle of the town's pedestrian walkways and through some tight alleys before finding this hotel. Just use a map - the location is very easy to find.

Perfect location and price

We traveled to Rotherburg to see a perfectly preserved medieval city with an intact city wall. We were overjoyed at what we found. Spent three wonderful nights there and could have easily stayed many more. There are many small hotels in Rothernburg, some right in the city center. We appreciated Hotel Schranne because it was off the center and quiet, allowing open windows through the night.

My wife and I stayed in this hotel because it was in the middle of the city. We were able to walk to the weinachsmarkt every day, and into the heart of the city in about 5 minutes. It also had free parking, which is very valuable inside the city which has very tight parking. Hotel was very nice, and fair for the price.

The staff is very fiendly and helpful, but at times it was hard to find someone, but that is becaue they are always working and do multiply jobs at the hotel/restaurant. The room we were in was facing the road and it was wonderful. This was our first time to Germany and we spent our first two nights at this hotel and could not have asked for a better hotel or room. The room was clean and large and breakfast had many items to choose from.
