This is the second time i have stayed at this hotel. The staff is wonderful and the hotel is perfect to start your walk around the walled city of Rothenburg. You will start with a wonderful breakfast and can have a great snack come lunchtime in the rear garden. The rooms are wonderful and very clean and its nice to end the day with a cold beer next to the garden.

Rothenburg is a beautiful medieval city that has been modernized for today's standards. The Gerberhaus Hotel is within the walls of the city and provides all the charm you come to expect. A wonderful breakfast buffet helps start the day for shopping and sightseeing.

I LOVE ROTHENBERG! THIS CHARMING INN IS EXCELLENT. THE LOCATION TO PARKING AND TOWN IS EXCELLENT. THE BREAKFAST IS DELICIOUS. WE STAYED HERE IN 1983 AND LAST WEEK. WE WILL STAY AGAIN. THE ONLY ISSUE...PILLOWS TOO FLUFFY.

Lovely accommodating owner and staff but this is really a well located café (even the sign says Café Gerberhaus!) with good basic rooms. Gardens off the back with a lot of potential but not maintained, as the focus seems to be to just manage everything else day to day, which they do! Can park right on the street, especially overnight, but better to park in the (easy to access) huge lot just outside the old wall, about 150 metres away, for more than that. Access is an adventure as you need to drive into what looks like a pedestrian entrance in the old wall but is really a one car in and out access to Spitalgasse! Loved exploring the old town from this locale; the Night Watchman tour is highly recommended (wonderfully educational and excellent way to appreciate this amazing heritage site!).

Hotel Gerberhaus is a special place in Rothenburg ob der Tauber for our family. In the last 25 years we have stayed several times. We come back because we enjoy the authentic traditional nature and presentation of the hotel. It has been run by the same family who are helpful and friendly. The breakfast is beautifully displayed, with a generous assortment of delicious and typical German foods. I highly recommend this hotel in pretty Rothenburg.

We had the top floor room and no elevator so had to drag bags up 3 floors or about 60 steps. There was no internet only if you stood at front desk, not in room, not in garden or in lounge. There are 4 small small parking spaces in a shed at the end of the alley, so first in last out! Parking outside the walls in a public parking lot 6 euro per day, must get ticket one day at a time. Hotel is close to down town, breakfast good, rooms small and no ventilation windows open. Hotel is okay, it is just not as advertised

Charming hotel in a beautiful city! The complimentary breakfast is delicious. The rooms are big and clean and the bed is super comfortable. There are bo elevators in the building so if you’re unable to do stairs, this is something to consider. The location is perfect! Would highly recommend!

It's ok. Beautiful place, good breakfast, great location, nice people. But the room is too hot, forcing you to keep windows AND door AND bathroom vent+light on when you return, just to cool it down. I was lucky and able to turn off the vent and close the door after a while, but rude, thoughtless people continue to tromp by and flap their jaws on the street below until 1 in the morning, disturbing any attempt to sleep with the window open. There are no fans. You also get ONE down-filled, flatter than paper pillow.

It might be worth coming back in the late fall/winter/early spring, but even in September when the air is cool, the room is too hot-hotter than the hallway. Not fun to return to when you desperately need a place to cool down.

On-site parking is practically non-existent, so no, parking is not \"available.\" There's a shed where 5 vehicles all double park and block the entire driveway. Thankfully, they directed me where to park-a little ways outside the gate, not far to walk, and free. No issue with it, but the hotels.com info is misleading, and since it was one of the reasons I picked this place, I'm not pleased about that.

Room listing is also wrong. No separate sitting area, no room computer, and very small. Wish they would give the rooms a fan. Until then, fling the windows open wide, leave the vent on all night if you need. Leave them cracked during the day and check back to be sure no one has closed them.

We greatly enjoyed our stay and plan to stay there again. Unfortunately, because of our last minute booking, we got one of their smallest rooms which required my husband to climb into and out of bed because his side was against the wall. The bathroom was also quite small, particularly where the toilet was located. Seeing the other rooms when they were open and being serviced made us jealous! We loved the enclosed beer garden and their onsite cafe. The breakfast was wonderful with plenty of options, and the Dining rooms are quite lovely. On-site parking is limited, but there is plenty of parking within an easy walk outside the city walls, and paid street parking is also available.

We had an excellent stay at this guest house. It was perfectly located in old town, within walking distance of all the highlights. Breakfast was included with our stay. It was a loved meat cheese and fruit assortment. The staff we very friendly and helpful and the room was pristine and spacious. Will stay there again when I bring family to visit.

Wonderfully quaint hotel minutes walking to market center, Plönlein, entrance to Tower Wall. You are right in middle of Old Toen Rothenburg. The owner was wonderfully accommodating and staff could not be friendlier. Room was spacious enough and tile floor for two large dogs (50 and 30 kg) and back exit of hotel led to exit in Tower Wall to park for walking them. Parking garage for 15 euros a night. No electric kettle in room but no need as breakfast in first floor cafe comes with room. Really wonderful place.

First night was amazing. Wasted most of second/last day their trying to do laundry I was told that morning would be no problem. Second had less than agreeable checkout initially over wasting my time there when they wanted me to pay full price for amenities/staff that caused 4+ hrs of wasted time.
Overall good place to stay but needs some communication improvements & I wish the back patio door would close as it made hallways drafty/cold.

The room was very tiny and dark. The cupboard where you needed to store your luggage did not even have a light. Upon check in we were offered a larger room for a significant up charge. In discussions with other guests, room changes did not involve additional costs. Breakfast was overcrowded and chaotic although the lady in charge did her best to accommodate everyone. The towels were in dire need of replacement. The young lady at checkout was very friendly and helpful.

We arrived from Fussen after staying at a lovely local hotel there-with an auto at 4:40pn we emailed ahead but no parking. Consider you’ll not be able to park at this hotel. The front desk man was very friendly and explained the coffee cart is closed when the office closes at 6pm. (no hotel service at all from 6pm-until they return the next day) The front door is locked and only alley use is available. So when you come and go with luggage you’ll need to leave through the back and walk through the cable stoned alley & around the block to the nearest parking with your luggage. It’s very dark without lighting.
The only part of our stay that was as expected is the actual room. It looks the same as the photo. With that said, our superior room had poor lighting. The canapé bed was very rickety, the duvet is very small.
As for the bathroom, the toilet had tissue when we arrived and never fully flushed. Terrible towels, skimpy and edges frayed,1 wash cloth filled with dark lint, 1 push soap. The fan never turned off. No amenities in the room and none available after 6pm. The courtyard in the back fills with everyone’s used glasses and dishes until the staff returns in the morning. We were looking for a local experience however there are dozens of full service hotels in Rothenburg to choose from. We would not choose this hotel again especially after seeing all the wonderful options.
We wouldn’t call this a hotel. It’s a room. I’m thankful our stay short.

The owner was very friendly and helpful. We paid an extra 10€ to park in the hotel parking lot and the next day when we checked out and couldn’t get the streets parking meter to work, she wrote us a special note so that we wouldn’t get ticketed.
The room was spotless but tiny. The blinds at the bathtub window didn’t work and the bed’s mattress was hard. The breakfast was amazing!

The owners of Gerberhaus clearly love their guests. This quaint hotel feels like a period inn. The breakfast is one of the best I have had-varied, fresh, beautifully presented, and delicious. The cafe closes early, but there are plenty of restaurants within a short distance.

Good Stay, but Know the Limitations when Booking

Very nice property in a good location. Staff was very nice. Keep in mind the front desk is only open 7 AM to 6 PM and outside of those hours you need to use a back entrance. Breakfast is not served until 8 AM, which is too late for us business travelers. Not that it mattered, but the TVs did not work in either of the rooms we rented. WIFI worked in the hall, but not in the rooms.

Rothenburg lives by tourists, so it is a good idea to stay in town so as to be able to havevtge place to yourself in the morning before the first bus tours arrive.
Located inside the new city gate (\"new\" is a relative term here) but away from the crowds in the center of town, this charming small Inn was perfect. A glass case displaying delicious-looking homemade baked goods is the first thing that you see when you walk in the door. The pretty breakfast rooms are filled with antiques. There is also an inviting-looking cafe in the garden. Our room, which overlooked the garden with a glimpse of the ancient city wall, was one of the smallest, but the feeling was cozy, not stuffy, especially since the bathroom was well designed and modern. A great choice!

This is an older style hotel. It is more of a guest house and definitely not of the chain variety which makes it so unique. We had not initially planned to overnight in Rothenburg. We found ourselves wrapped up in the beauty of the city and didn't want to leave. Using the app, I located this hotel which was close to where I had parked. Prior to booking we walked down to check it out. What a cool place!! Just inside the Rothenburg wall. The wall and one of the guard towers were just outside of our window. I was able to drive into the old city and park on the narrow road between the city wall and hotel.

The internet, if you need it, is city wide and very spotty.

It's a quaint and very charming place; if you're looking for a romantic stay, you won't be disappointed. It's very close to the most iconic sight in town and just a five minute walk to the central market square. Cars are not allowed on the street at night, so it was perfectly quiet and peaceful at night.

The staff was very friendly. Great traditional Hotel with a lovely breakfast included. The parking was a little tricky but that goes without saying for European Hotels. They have a garage you can park in for 10€ but it's small. You can park on the street for a fee during the day and it's free between 6pm and 9am. We found a free lot and moved the car in the evening. I highly recommend this Hotel! The Garden area was so pretty with setting and blankets for the cool evenings.

Great location. Room was clean and comfortable. I was worried about sound since we were right on the road but it was incredibly quiet outside after about 9pm. All of the staff was helpful and wanted to do whatever they could to ensure we had a great stay. Courtyard behind the building is awesome. Breakfast was absolutely amazing and included. There are two yellow bikes you can borrow at no charge upon request and explore the city. Couldnt recommend this place more highly- they made us feel welcome.

This was a very quaint and friendly German gasthaus right on the main strip in Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful with a bountiful selection. Staff was very friendly and happy to speak English to us. Room was comfortable but very hot. No air conditioning but there was a fan in the room so that helped. Would be nice to have a top sheet instead of the feather bed provided. Great for winter but way to hot to use in summer! All in all, we would go back to this hotel! Thank you!

A Quiet Place to Relax

This is a quaint little Hotel within the walls of Rothenburg but away from the center of town, so it is very quiet. Although the building is old, it is quite well maintained, and the staff was friendly and helpful. The room was very clean, and old books and antiques were used throughout the hotel to add to the ambience. We were on the upper floor which required some extra muscle to get our suitcases up, and because it was quite hot while we were there, the upper floors were also a bit uncomfortable. A fan was included which provided some relief. The beer garden in the back of the Hotel was a lovely place to have a drink or enjoy a meal. Breakfast was included and offered lots of variety including, breads, fruits, cheese, eggs, juices, cookies, yoghurt etc. Free parking was available on a narrow road, along the wall outside the Hotel, but guests could also park in the large metered lots outside the city walls.

Perfect hotel for perfect town

Great hotel in wonderful location. Very cosy and comfortable, very much in line with this amazing town. Staff were very nice and helpful, breakfast delicious in a very pretty dining room.
For me it has been like being in a fairy tale. Everything has been perfect!

Great hotel for family

Our family (2 adults and 2 kids - 13 and 9) stayed at the Hotel Gerberhaus in the apartment. Plenty of space for us as a family and great location and staff. Couldn't have been better! Thank you Hotel Gerberhaus!

A Winner for Sure

This was my favorite hotel in Germany. It is located in a lovely medieval walled town on top of a hill. The rooms were spotless and very charming (ours had a four poster bed). The garden and patio are nestled right under the old town wall, and provide a delightful place to rest after seeing the sights of the town. The owner was helpful and her son was very kind to carry our bags to our room. The breakfast was delicious. Overall, I'd say this lovely hotel definitely rates 5 stars.

We had a great stay here

Perfect location...just a bit away from the rabble but really in the old city. Wonderful little garden in back...our room (#10) overlooked it. We were able to park behind the hotel. Wifi is easiest to use of all the little guesthouses so far, just turn it on, no password, no jumping thru \"hotsplot\" or \"Telekom\" hoops. Great Greek restaurant across the street, too.

Nice hotel with friendly and helpful staff.

We had a great time in Rothenburg and enjoyed our stay at Gerberhaus. The room was nice and comfortable. The location worked well as it wasn't in the main area of town so it was more quiet in the morning and evenings but was only a short walk to stores, market square, and restaurants. The breakfast was really great, too!
