Location, location, location! You really can’t beat the location of this hotel. And it feels like a dream come true. It was the perfect base to explore the town. We could come and go as we wanted. I wouldn’t recommend staying anywhere else.

Reception staff ignored me standing there whilst getting herself a drink and faffing, when her colleague became available more than 5 mins later, she then said to see the one who had stood ignoring me. After a very long drive all we wanted was to drop the bikes and park the car then head to the room. No she wouldn’t let either happen until I have taken the bag to the room. After 10 ish hours in the car I didn’t need it.
The night porter was lovely and went out his way to listen and help.
Breakfast… food couldn’t fault, but had to go hunting for staff to ask if needed room number and where to sit etc. then hunt for a clean table, we went in pre 9am and the amount of dirty tables and stuff on the floor was a joke for a 4*

My 10y old son and I went by ourselves and felt so safe! The most perfect area. The bathroom was incredibly spacious, but I felt a huge slip hazard. Rooms are a great size. The front desk let me store our bags there 5 hours before check in as well!

Excellent location, beer garden is so/so. Didn’t use the restaurant as it was on the expensive side and we found better value away from the hotel. Our room was on the 3rd floor in the neighboring property but had take 2 lifts to access so not very convenient. Breakfast was $20 Euro if paid in advance or $25 morning of, if you are an early risers than I recommend as nothing is open before 9am accept for 1 bakery. Parking is good but need to book well in advance to secure free spot otherwise $8 in the public space for 24hrs outside the city walls and 500m back to the hotel. Would I stay again? Yes but there are many choices and in more quiet areas of the town.

This was a very unique hotel! Updated rooms, but hallways and restaurant area contained very cool antique furniture and pictures! Location was awesome, right in town, breakfast delightful and lots of choice, hot and cold food. Definitely worth $19. Would stay here again if in area! If good enough for Winston Churchill, good enough for me!

Our room, a superior double room DID NOT look anything like the pictures online. The room was large and clean but the furniture was old, the bed had a thin uncomfortable mattress and the room was not nicely decorated. The hotel is run down. Don’t count on getting parking. Even though this hotel is listed as having parking it is only 14 spaces for a couple of hundred rooms. Staff was not helpful and sent us to the tourist info center. There was a festival going on that the hotel did not notify us about until I requested parking. Loud drums and parading past our windows until after 1 am.

I would not recommend this hotel.

We arrived to 5/12/2026 for 2 night stay. The elevator was broke. We were traveling Germany, Austria, and Switzerland; so we 4 large pieces of luggage.
Hotel staff carried luggage up when we arrived.
I asked for bucket of ice; desk attendant said I would have to come down and get the ice.
Our trek to 2nd floor was large stairway, hallway, and half staircase to arrive at our room.
The day of departure, David went and requested help with luggage after waiting 40 minutes; David and my niece's husband carried luggage down. Desk attendant said she was on us to let her know when we were ready to leave...note: no phone in the room.

Food & Beverage service were excellent. For the price, this hotel was very disappointing.

I don’t understand the bad reviews of this 650 year old hotel. It is a rabbit warren of delights. Our room, 357, was maybe one of the biggest, best rooms we’ve ever had. It has an amazing bed with soft linens, adequate power outlets, a mini fridge, safe, a HUGE bathroom, and double doors that open to some spectacular views of the valley. It is perfectly located in the center of Rothenburg with a delicious restaurant and one of the better open terrace bars in the city. This hotel is truly an historic gem. The parking lot is a bonus because most cars need to park outside the city walls. But it is a short, 6min picturesque walk back to the hotel. And it passes one of our favorite breakfast spots: Lebenslust. Their Eggs Benedict is so wonderful we went two mornings in a row. Also don’t miss the Night Watchman’s Tour. A fantastic way to learn the history of the city in a fun way. The English tour runs nightly in front of the main square for €9pp. The front desk staff at Hotel Eisenhut were friendly, patient, and very helpful with all of our questions. Notes: There is an elevator, but no bell service. The elevator is small. Enough for two adults and two bags. The Bidet water needed to be opened before use. (We didn’t use it). Water pressure was SIGNIFICANT. Hallways and staircases are creaky. But we never heard another guest from our room. We absolutely enjoyed every cobble stone of this city and will enthusiastically recommend it to anyone interested in visiting.

I chose the hotel for its central location, but the room was spectacular. It was super clean and classy. The sheets looked ironed. We had large windows with a view of the terrace and countryside. The only negative for me was that it was right next door to Kathe Wolfahrt’s Christmas Shop and my wife took full advantage. In the evening we had drinks and dessert at the hotel. It is a wonderful place to stay.

One important concern we would like to mention is that the door to our bedroom was very low. My husband, who is 6’3”, hit his head more than once and was actually hurt, including his neck. This felt like a genuine safety issue rather than just an inconvenience. We would strongly recommend that the hotel consider addressing this—whether by modifying the doorway or clearly warning guests so other guests don’t run in the same problem literally.

With that said…We had a lovely stay at Hotel Eisenhut. The property is absolutely gorgeous—full of charm, character, and that perfect quaint, historic feel that makes Rothenburg so special. Everything felt beautifully maintained and inviting.

The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made our stay even more enjoyable. We also had dinner at the restaurant, and the food was excellent—truly a highlight of our visit. Breakfast was just as wonderful, with a great selection and a cozy atmosphere to start the day.

Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay and appreciated the beauty and hospitality of the hotel. With this improvement, it would be an even more exceptional experience.

Wonderful stay on our one night visit to Rothenburg. The staff was great and very helpful. The location is prime right near many of the main sites. There's a great pizza place right across the street that has great food and great drinks. The restaurant at the hotel is very good as well. We had a dessert there that was incredible. On the night we were there there was a piano player that was very good and it was a nice touch to have. Highly recommend staying here if you visit

The staff were very helpful- Lydia and Cavid at the front desk. We got lost looking for the parking but they assisted us patiently to explain where the parking is.
Erickson and Gus at the restaurant were worth mentioning- Erickson very helpful with the beer choice for my husband and Gus at the breakfast was very polite and respectful. Highly recommended!

I’ve stayed at this hotel many times and it is always a joy. This time the lock on our door was broken. We were supposed to have a room with the view of the city but they moved us to another room with a view of the roof. We could have waited hours for the locksmith and had the same room but my husband wanted to shower. They said it was an upgrade, but I have stayed at this hotel many times and know better. (And had booked an upgraded room for our friends that we’ve stayed in before) I didn’t want an upgrade anyway, just to enjoy the view. Anyway, the room was still lovely and the staff was helpful and polite. They tried to accommodate a situation that was largely out of their control. If it were my only time in Rothenburg I would have been very disappointed. As it was the room was nice, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom is great, the location is unsurpassed, the breakfast is good and I’ll still stay there again hoping for better luck next time. For the price and quality you really can’t get a better room in town and it’s still my favorite hotel there (I’ve stayed in others too)
Side note - there used to be free parking associated with the hotel. One now has to book in advance. If you don’t or there is no room there is a parking lot outside the wall not far away that is very inexpensive and convenient.

Room was cozy and spacious but improvements could me made. Lack of electrical sockets is annoying, especially by the desk, and annoying to have to choose between a bed side lamp or plugging in my phone at night. The place really needs double glazing, they must spend a fortune on heating.
Very noisy through room connecting door, snoring/talking/TV could be heard from next room.
Bathroom functional but dated, replacing the old tub with a modern shower would help a lot.

Breakfast was disappointing. No imagination on choices, too much food drying out under heat lamps. For the €19 paid it should be much better.

Overall very pleasant stay, but more attention to detail could make this place very good.

The room was amazing! They are so dog friendly and provided water bowls and treats. The location is right in the centre of town. The staff is so lovely. The building(s) are historic and beath-taking. The restaurant(s) and different sitting areas are incredible.

If you're staying in town, you will not find a better option.

The town view looks at the beautiful street and old buildings but the garden view is totally worth it as you see out over the valley and wall and is a great choice as well.

The town is gorgeous and the location of this hotel is fantastic. We did eat lunch here, which was excellent, but u fortunately the beer garden was closed due to the timing of our trip (late Oct). The hotel was very classic. Rooms were clean but small.
Most of the front staff were very nice. One was very
inflexible. Check in was 3 pm, not a minute sooner. At 3 pm there was a huge lineup for people to get their room. We also needed some flexibility when it came to breakfast. My husband wasn't feeling goid that morning, so i went down to the front desk at 7 am to let them know we were not able to make breakfast. She was gokng to charge me 80%, which under the circumstances seems a but unfair. She finally relented. The rest of the staff were great.

However, the staff wasn’t very friendly, and the wooden floors are quite squeaky, which can be a bit annoying. Still, it’s a nice place to stay — just make sure to book parking in advance! 🚗✨

Front desk person never got close to a smile. She was closer to rude. Please hire folks that will greet with welcoming attitude and be friendly.

Also We never knew we had to pre register for parking no email no notification. So we were told no option with hotel.

Bed is the hardest mattress ever. We had worse sleep of entire trip. No coffee maker in room. No wash cloths. Flooring level changes between bedroom entry and bath so very easy to stub toe in the night. Never staying here again.

The room was stunning and the bathroom beautiful with all its marble! The tub was extra large and definitely worth the nice soak after a cold rainy day. The bed was very comfortable. While the location of this hotel is breathtakingly beautiful, our stay was far from perfect. The town itself is very challenging to drive through, and the designated parking area is quite a walk from the hotel. We were told our room would be ready at 1 p.m. but had to wait until 3 p.m. for check-in. The room was large and offered plenty of space, but the heat was unbearable due to a lack of air conditioning. The most disappointing part, however, was the bed. Both the mattress and pillows were extremely hard, and we ended up with little to no sleep. Staying for just one night was a relief. For future guests, we hope the hotel considers replacing the old, uncomfortable mattresses and pillows.

Wow, what is not to like about our stay in Rothenburg Ob Der Tauber. Beautiful and scenic town right outside the Hotel Eisenhut. The room exceeded itself. Very comfortable beds and pillows. Lots of special touches with soaps, shampoos and makeup remover pads. The room did not come with a tea kettle, but we just got a carafe of hot water from the lobby. The staff was always great and helpful. Just beware that there is stairs in this hotel, but they do offer a small elevator. We really enjoyed the place and just wished we were able to stay longer.

We weren't sure what to expect from the room - and we were stunned. It was big - I've had smaller apartments. Had a room at the rear of the property that overlooked the biergarten/restaurant, with a view of the city. French doors opened all the way for fresh air. We were on the top floor, so there wasn't a balcony, so if that's your thing, ask for a second-floor room.

Rothenburg is very walkable. We took the train there, and the property is only about a 15-minute walk from the Bahnhof. We'd visit again.

The staff was exceptional, property relaxed and easygoing, and recommend staying here to anyone planning a trip to Rothenburg. The central location makes it extra convenient.

Beautiful place, beautiful town. Difficult parking. Park outside any of the city walls that go around the entire old town you will need your phone on roaming to find the hotel. for a 7 euro a day to park… pay with credit card for each 24 hours you are there. Then walk in . Once you get your footing it’s pretty easy. Very worth going. Try to exchange euro at a bank not an atm in the tourist area bc they will charge you a lot! Like 30$ per 100 euro rip off. Also have euro on hand bc many restaurants do not accept credit card or us cash. It’s euro only .

Perfect location right next to the market square, close to everything we wanted to do and see. Our room was big with a great view of the city and valley. The shower was a bit small, there was some paint peeling here and there, but that didn’t take away from our overall experience. Will stay here next time we come to Rothenburg ODT

This was a great hotel with a separate living room area, two bathrooms, two fans and beautiful view. Town was great, lots to see and lots of shopping. Navigating with a vehicle priced to be challenging but worth it. Restaurant was great as was the buffet breakfast
