Lovely hotel in a perfect location just outside the walls of the town and a short walk to everything Rothenburg has to offer. Staff were incredibly friendly on arrival and made check-in easy and swift (which was appreciated after a long drive with a 4 year old). They had also put a basket of toys in our room for our son which was a lovely touch. Room was comfortable and homely. A wonderful stay.

Very nice small hotel just outside the wall. Our room was a Comfort room, good size bedroom and sitting area, bathroom shower was amazing. Staff are excellent, helped with dinner reservations. We did not eat at the restaurant but it looked very nice. Highly recommend for price, location and staff.

From check in to check out, this a great hotel. Check in was amazing. Very friendly, knowledgeable and willing to help in any way. Even made dinner reservations for us at a local restaurant! The room was amazing, bed comfortable, the shower was so nice. Was very clean. Breakfast was delicious, fresh bread, eggs to order, lattes were great. Service was exceptional. Location was next to the wall city and Christmas markets.

Everything about this property is sublime. The room was clean and modern. The housecleaning staff kept it spotless. Breakfast had everything you needed to get you on your way. Parking was close and the old town was just a few minutes walking distance from the hotel. Highly recommend it!

Last minute booking at this hotel for our group of 6 (3 rooms). The hotel was very accommodating and provided us an upgrade on one of the rooms at same charge to ensure we were all in the same building.

Hotel has a Michelin star restaurant in the building but we didn't have the opportunity to try it as we were only in Rothenberg 1 night. It looked good but pricy, which you would expect at a Michelin star restaurant.

The rooms were lovely and had a great spacious shower in them. Our room had a patio with a couple chairs.

The hotel is literally across the street from the walled city, which was perfect as that was what we were there to see.

Excellent Hotellerie & Restaurant. We came unexpectedly to Rothenburg due to a change in schedule. We arrived later in the evening, but staff was willing to accommodate us. We were able to enjoy a Michelin meal for dinner that was fantastic. We appreciated the staff willing to work us into their schedule. Food was superb, ambiance was peaceful and serene, and service was excellent. Thank you!

Would have given 5 stars, except that we had 2 issues that had a negative impact on our stay. 1st, there is no elevator and we had to go up several flights of stairs with our luggage. We really struggled with that as we are 2 older women. It would have been nice to know that ahead of time so we could request a room on a lower floor. 2nd, we checked with the Front Desk the evening before our check out to settle our bill. We informed her we would be leaving at 4am. She assured us that they had our credit card information and we were all set. The next day we received an angry phone call from the manager accusing us of skipping out on our bill. She was very rude and I was not happy to have this happen as it affected our vacation. The staff needs to figure out where they dropped the ball. Very poor customer service.

This is an absolute bait and switch. I paid for a classic double, which according to the listing, was an updated room with a private patio or balcony. What I got was a room in the attic that resembled a dungeon: dark, small, pitched ceilings with little headroom around the bed, no bathroom privacy. Completely unacceptable! They refused to refund my money and offered no solution when I exposed their scheme.

We had a challenging check in. The woman who checked us in was anxious, flustered, confrontational and not accommodating. After traveling 9 hours by plane and 3 hours by car to get there, I did not feel welcome. Thankfully, after 5ish minutes of this exchange, another woman came to the front desk to help us / I believe her name was yisette? She was so kind, helpful and kind went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.

This was our second time staying at Mittermeier. Wonderful staff and just a different feel than a regular hotel: a good one.

Due to some overbooking we received an upgraded room and all we can say is wonderful room.

Excellent location just steps away from walled city of Rothenburg. Lift to rooms also made it much easier with our luggages. Dinner onsite was delicious with interesting fusion flavours. Very comfortable room.

Only downside was the weak water pressure.

After a crazy week at work with world politics involved I just wanted to relax in an idyllic town an hour train ride away. I brought my little dog. I thought I reserved a room with a balcony, nothing crazy excessive, but relaxing and nice. I got in late and was directed to the basement. I didn't want to argue with the desk about it as I was tired...but I was disappointed. The next morning I realized our main room windows looked out onto the back parking lot. I felt like I was in a seedy motel. You can see into the room from outside. The shower was a glass/Plexiglas box in the room- so I'm glad my dog and I are close because you can fully see into the shower as someone is washing. I had to pull the curtains and rig up a system to also not shower in front of the people getting in and out of cars in the parking lot....At least the bed was comfortable. Anyway, I wouldn't stay again next time I visit.
Also, \"pet friendly\" means 30 euro extra a night for your dog and probably a basement room to not mix with the general population.
(BTW I might just be a lowly government architect, but I can design a better hotel room in like less than an hour (if you need my help)).

We were greeted by the staff member who was very sweet and walked us through the lobby and restaurant, as well as the after hours entry just so we could find our way. In addition, it’s a very easy walk to the town center and very convenient. They also provided a treat for my dog which she loved. I would recommend this hotel and hope to return.

We stayed at the Alter Ego - beautiful, contemporary rooms and we enjoyed the shared space with free coffee and wine/beer/snacks for purchase. Very convenient and close to the wall. Staff was excellent. Dinner was fabulous. Opted out for the breakfast - seems like that should be included in the price of the room.

Confusing to locate building. VERY limited onsite parking, no lift (elevator). Beautiful building, excellent location, friendly and helpful staff. Lovely place along the Romantic Rosd

I enjoyed my one night stay as I followed the Romantic Road. It is an excellent location just steps outside the walls. Loved my room but the pillows were too soft for me and the bed too hard. Everything else was great. Staff members carried my luggage up and down for me. It’s a beautiful property. The lack of A/C was worrisome as it was hot but it was fine in the room.

Although this is a very nice hotel located right outside the entrance to the inner city, it lacks air conditioners and fans. As a result, we had to sleep with the windows open hearing all the cars and people outside during the night and morning. Aside from this issue, it is a very nice hotel.

Beautiful boutique hotel located just outside the walled area of the city, easy walking distrance to the historic area. Parking onsite made it easy to spend the day driving the Romantic Road area and coming back to a home base. The hotel is clean, safe, and very comfortable.

But our experience with the restaurant was unacceptable. We dressed up and were happy to wear nice shoes rather than running shoes that are necessary on the cobblestone streets. We made a reservation in person and arrived on time. However, we were told that there was no record of our reservation. The staff were RUDE and they made no effort to accommodate us. Just based on that, I would not return. The woman we made the reservation with in person was present and barely acknowledged us other than to say oops I forgot.

The room was hot with no airconditioning. With windows open to get some air in, traffic noise was consistent and loud! Shower area smelled and shower head sprayed water in every direction. Reported issues next day and nothing was done, room was not serviced. There is also no lift and had to carry bags up an old wooden winding stairway, 2 floors! For what we paid, this hotel was not worth it and had many unacceptable issues. I would not recommend this hotel.

The front desk staff was super nice. Helped me with my luggage when I was finding place to park, showed me the lovely room, brought me a bottle of water and recommended a very nice restaurant for dinner. This is one of the best check in experience I have had. I did not get the name of the lady but thank you so much!

This hotel is such a gem, right outside of the old town, easy parking, good taste of decor, spacious room, and everything. I love it so much that I recommended to my friend who lives in Germany and recommended Rothenburg as one of my stops in this trip.

Excellent in every way!! The hotel is beautiful, has an amazing restaurant...breakfast was the best we had and we were at 10 different hotels across Europe. The parking was right out front. Staff are excellent.. Our room was huge and very well designed. Out of all the 10 hotels we stayed at, this was absolutely our favorite. Don't get me wrong...we stayed at many nice places but this one checked off every box. Our highest recommendation!! Wish we had time for a dinner there but breakfast was incredible.

This 4 star hotel offers good value for money and a friendly ambience, the rooms are recently renovated and are both modern and cheerful in design. This hotel is located immediately outside the city walls, in front of the 'Wuerzburger Tor' (city gate).

The restaurant reflects the medieval history of the hotel, with its beautiful wood paneling and carvings, murals and solid wooden furniture. Rebuilt after its partial destruction in 1945, the hotel has managed to maintain its historically famous 'inn' style.

It certainly cannot be mistaken with its bright yellow exterior and red and white striped shutters. The lobby is big and newly renovated.

The square in front of the hotel is named after this historical sight. The main building of the hotel was built in the 17th century by a noble family and transformed into a hotel by the owner's grandparents in 1960.

Since then the three generations of the Meinold family have permanently invested, restored and modernized the hotel and restaurant now offering 46 classified hotel rooms, 5 restaurant rooms for individuals and groups, a beer garden and outside dining as well as private parking to guarantee the safety and comfort of our guests.
