This 4 star hotel offers good value for money and a friendly ambience, the rooms are recently renovated and are both modern and cheerful in design. This hotel is located immediately outside the city walls, in front of the 'Wuerzburger Tor' (city gate).

The restaurant reflects the medieval history of the hotel, with its beautiful wood paneling and carvings, murals and solid wooden furniture. Rebuilt after its partial destruction in 1945, the hotel has managed to maintain its historically famous 'inn' style.

It certainly cannot be mistaken with its bright yellow exterior and red and white striped shutters. The lobby is big and newly renovated.

It is very atmospheric, and in a typical traditional Rothenburg style.

We loved it. Spacious, clean room, bottles of drink give to us every day. Loved the breakfast. It was perfect. Staff friendly. Loved the decoration in the lobby. Close enough to walk to the train station and the xmas market. Do be aware if you have an early flight that there are no taxis or uber available. You have too walk or drive. Our room was fine, but we were put in a different building (not the one pictured) that was sparse, with no art or pictures on the walls. The carpet in the room was quite stained. We paid 166 Euros after booking it for 116 (extra fees per person!?). The breakfast staff were very friendly, and the location was good, but my bed was on the other side of a wall from the elevator, and it was very disruptive. Every time someone used the elevator, I could feel it and hear it in the wall beside my bed. If you go to this hotel, I highly recommend that you make sure your room is not next to the elevator. It was very hard to sleep.

We had a great time staying at the Hotel Rappen. Our room was clean and comfortable and the staff were very nice. From the variety of hotels we stayed at during our whole trip, this hotel's breakfast was tied for number one. The proximity to the old town gate was so helpful in maximizing our time in the area. Do not hesitate staying at this lovely property.

Very friendly staffand great loction to old town literally just outside the city walls with beautiful views out our large windows. Free parking and absolutely amazing breakfast free with stay. This was a great hotel. FREE parking and FREE breakfast seemed to be a rarity and was much appreciated. The lot was easy to find and just behind the hotel. From there it was only a few minute walk to the Rathaus and a block to the town wall. The breakfast buffet was INCREDIBLE! So many choices. The room for three was spacious and beds comfortable. Bathroom was fine. Would for sure stay here again.

This hotel is in a great location with parking. We loved being able to walk out the door and be within the mediviel wall in 2 minutes. It's a perfect location to explore the town. It was also close to the bike path, if you plan to bike between towns. The rooms were basic and clean.

Overall the stay was fine. The hotel is located in a nice location and the staff was very friendly. The main areas of the hotel are nice and more updated, but the room itself could use a refresh. The queen bed was two twins pushed together that kept separating and drooping over the side, making an uncomfortable sleep. The shower was also quite tight and half of the water seemed to come out of the connector.

Excellent Customer Service.

There are many reasons why this hotel was excellent for our family. The hotel is clean, overall the breakfast is great and the staff is friendly and helpful. I had a situation with my reservation that required some care and Lisa from the front desk went above and beyond to help me and my family. I cannot say enough good things about her and her kindness towards my family. It is employees like here that make all the difference in the world for a guest. She was compassionate and went above and beyond the call of duty to help me out. If there is anything you can do to recognize her excellent costumer service skills. Had it not been for her we would have likely not made it to Rothenburg and added extra days to our stay. The hotel staff was also very helpful when I requested an earlier check-in for my additional 2 days at the hotel. I told them that my husband had mobility issues and was feeling ill and that it would be very helpful if he could have access our new room earlier than normal. The young lady at the front desk called the maids and asked them if they could clean the room for us and it was done within an hour. That's what I call, excellent customer service. As it turns out, my husband wound up needing to go back to the hotel room to get the rest he needed. It made all the difference in the world for us for he was in a lot of pain that day. Breakfast was excellent but eggs were ok and wish restaurant food was at a lower price point.

We spent 2 nights at Hotel Rappen recently and it was walkable from the train station, which was very helpful.The breakfast was very good and we enjoyed it.
The hotel itself was adequate, but not more. It lacked warmth and charm and felt like a high end hostel. The dining room for breakfast looked nothing like the restaurant pictured in the ad. It was impossible to get a cup of tea or coffee in the evening without walking to a gas station; there was no in-room set up and the hotel didn’t offer any, even for purchase.

Good hotel for the cost, especially if you're coming with your own car (parking was included and right behind the hotel). Dated rooms, but comfortable. Our room was in a corner of two major streets and the noise was unbearable, got not sleep, and had to use ear plugs the following nights. If you're noise sensitive, I recom to get ask for a room away from the street. The staff were wonderful overall. Breakfast was fresh, plentiful, and delicious, great deal for being included with the cost of the room. Our room did not have a coffee maker, but that was fine.

This hotel is a solid 3 star. Nothing wrong with the property, but nothing too special. Check in was easy & the staff is friendly. Room could have been a bit cleaner, but I'm really picky. Breakfast buffet is generous & tasty. Location was great for us because we took the train daily, & it's a short walk. It's also an easy walk into Rothenburg.

The room was spacious and modern (maybe a bit too modern--ask how the lights work before you get trapped in pitch black room). Breakfast was excellent. Walk to historic center, main gate is 150 meters away.
The breakfast in the morning is worth the stay alone.
If want a great Germany dinner , with out getting the tourist price, their dinner menu has everything .. and comes with a homemade flavor and service

This was an “ok” hotel. I had higher expectations from the reviews. Our room was on the guesthouse side, there was a restaurant on first floor and the hallway leading to the room, our room, especially the bathroom area smelt like food which was not ideal. The square in front of the hotel is named after this historical sight. The main building of the hotel was built in the 17th century by a noble family and transformed into a hotel by the owner's grandparents in 1960.
