Très bien dans l'ensemble. Les chambres sont assez petites et il y a peu de crochets, étagères pour pendre ou poser des objets. Par exemple derrière la porte de la chambre, on aurait bien apprécié des crochets ....

Old style property up on Bompard area , a 25 minute walk to the city - local ambience very pleasant and the espressos excellent - undergoing renovation, so a bit haphazard, but staff unfailingly polite and would be a great place in spring or autumn for a long weekend !

A stressful end to our journey; upon arrival, no one could be found on reception to give us parking directions and the street is very narrow. We eventually worked it out for ourselves. Having to wait 20 minutes to check in doesn’t feel appropriate when you are tired. The hotel is pretty, the room fairly nice. The shower didn’t give a consistent temperature. We could find limited dining choices locally and ended up ordering Uber eats to be delivered to the hotel. We decided not to try the breakfast.

Welcoming staff and wonderful food

The ladies at the front desk were very friendly and helpful. We were very late arriving because of bad weather but the dinning room welcomed us anyway and served a fabulous meal. The bed was very comfortable, our room overlooked a charming courtyard and there was convenient parking. I would highly recommend staying here.

We stayed in the original house and, although the room was small , it was very pleasant with a bath which I enjoyed after the walking . Excellent dinner and breakfast on the terrace . Swimming pool looked inviting but we did not have time to use it . Good quiet part of Marseilles with excellent public bus service to and from the main town . We left the car in the hotels car park .

Quiet, enclosed area with free gated parking. Nice landscaping with interesting sculptures and large patio off reception area. Room also had an outdoor patio. Breakfast buffet was very good with several options including scrambled eggs , ham, cheeses, cereal, etc.

Property located at Bompard area of Marseille. It is Residential area / older part of town / up hill. Property by itself is very nice and as soon as Make past gates VERY Serene and Relaxing. Rooms facing large courtyard with good landscaping and old pine trees. There is a pool and free parking. Parking is easy and secure.
Rooms are quiet and pleasing, but by decor and amenities kind of dated. For charging electronics - Lack of USB outlets and for extra outlets there is an old fashioned extension strip, which doesn’t suit Hotel portraying itself as 4 stars.
All very clean / personnel very attentive and goes above and beyond.
What comes to driving - please be aware that it is old part of town and streets are exceptionally narrow, sometimes only ONE car width. Hairpin turns up etc.
Some streets are one car width and both ways / so priority belongs to car which entered first.
Google maps giving adequate directions but please be aware of above.
Coming from USA it was tough for me / had to back from several narrow streets and drive backwards at tight quarters, to yield to upcoming cars.
So then I opted to leave car parked and walked downhill to Old Port area. To go back - one can walk uphill (which is Tasking) or take a Taxi, which are plentiful at Port area.
Overall liked this property / quiet and pleasing, but be aware of above - so not to damage rental or personal car ...

The hotel was really nice and the staff was very helpful and accommodating. Very good Wi-Fi was a plus. Future guests should know that the area is a little isolated from any \"nightlife\" so using a taxi or ride sharing will be a must, unless you like to walk. There are some small cafes and diners but not much else. Overall though my stay was very relaxing and enjoyable.

I’ve stayed here before and loved it as it’s in a great area and city centre is accessible by the 61 bus. But three years later the hotel needs a bit of love. The carpets were very dirty and the room smelt a bit. This said, the rooms are comfortable and I love the dressing gown provided. L’Occitane products are a nice touch too. The lady at reception was wonderful and very helpful in getting us a booking for the restaurant we wanted. We were also able to check in early . I didn’t feel that £100 was great value, though purely on the state of the room.

We arrived at 1.00p.m, we had called the hotel to give them notice. Our room wasn’t ready so we had a walk around the area.
The closet town at the port is a 40 min walk our 10-15min by taxis.
We came back to the hotel at 3.00p.m and the room still wasn’t ready.
We waited another 30 min before they had finished cleaning.
Then on that same day we decided to eat at the hotel restaurant.
They told us that they weren’t serving anymore starters and that they had no bugers left. So in the end we didn’t have a choice choosing our main courses.
The only good part was a lovely bathroom with a shower and a bath. Not forgetting the pool. The bedroom was small so we were disappointed. I am not sure if I would go back to the hotel because the service was very poor.

What a gem this place is. A short walk to cafes and bakeries, and not much further to the old port. The staff went above and beyond at every turn. This place is an oasis in a quiet neighbourhood, away from the noise and traffic of the main tourist area. Fantastic.

We're talking about a boutique hotel that also includes free parking which is amazing. It's situated in the old town on top of a hill so the best advice I can give you is to go for the small car, otherwise it's close to impossible to make the necessary turns to get there. The hotel itself has very good conditions, looks recently renovated and offers a delicious breakfast. Public transportation is also available very close by. Overall we've enjoyed the stay very much although the cleanliness could use some improvement. I am not sure but it looks as if a vacuum cleaner is not used inside the room, but other than that it was very good.

Lovely hotel! Amazing friendly helpful staff!

We stayed early August. Hotel was great - large pool and not too busy. Room was cleaned every day. Had aircon and large comfy bed. Location was perfect for us - quiet part of town with only 10 min walk to small port with great restaurants. 30 min walk to main Old port with cheaper tourist restaurants. Easy access by bus to Les Calanques. What made this stay perfect was how lovely all thw staff were.

Location was quiet, which was welcome in a busy city. The hotel is a 20 mins walk into the old port. We enjoyed this walk and there are nice restaurants 15 mins away. The hotel grounds are pretty with trees and the setting is very pleasant. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Our room was small. The bathroom had a tub/shower and sink. The toilet was in another room in the unit. There were several outdoor areas for sitting and relaxing though. The hotel is away from town which allowed for a quiet atmosphere. There is public buses into town if needed.

The best part of the hotel is the garden/ courtyard setting which is very pleasant and the pool whilst it is tired and could do with a bit of maintenance gets the sun and is quite.
The staff were generally helpful and in particular Thom who was really going out of his way to help you enjoy your stay. The hotel style is very rustic so if you like everything pristine and immaculate this hotel may not be for you.
There are a few negatives. Main one is there is NO air conditioning despite what the website says. There was an air conditioning unit in our room and it did switch on with a very feint sound of air being moved but had no effect on chilling the room. After the first morning I had a look around and the air conditioning unit was not connected to external air and was not going to work!
The hotel itself is in a quite location and is fine when you are in the hotel but there is nothing close by in terms of bars restaurants. I do like to have a wander around and wherever I'm away always like to use the 'real' locals bars but there is nothing near this hotel that you would want to go to.
You rely on the taxis here and the hotel had real difficulty in getting taxis. It was the Euro's so maybe on normal weekends taxis are not such an issue.
The breakfast in the hotel was fine but no English breakfast available but a good continental breakfast. The main menu was very limited with only four main courses available and with young children or choosy eaters will be an issue

The hotel is tucked away a short drive from the city centre in a residential area (about 6 euros from the port area by Uber).

We were staying in Room 500 (or was it 501?), which was a great room with a terrace area. The bathroom was excellent with VERY large separate shower and bath. His and hers basins and a toilet cubicle. Bathrobes, hairdryer, etc.

The room itself was large and very comfortable.

The grounds include a lovely garden and a great looking pool - too cold for my liking in late October but still spent some quality time hanging out around it reading my book in the sun.

The staff all seemed very nice though we didn't have much need to use them beyond checking in and out.

Refreshing Escape from Marseille

My girlfriend and I stayed at New Hotel Bompard to enjoy a one-night break from the heat and crowded beaches of downtown Marseille. It was a lovely, secluded hotel with a nice, quaint pool. Breakfast was available for purchase.
It was an easy 10-minute bus ride from Vieux Port, nestled in a quiet, safe residential neighborhood.

Nice hotel in a good area, hard to find. Pool area was great. Food and service wasn't up to the standard required by a 4 star hotel. Lunch service stopped too early, would be nice with a few hours longer service or open all day for snacks. Hotel room was very nice with all you need. Free parking, unheard of in France. Overall we had a good stay and I would go back again.

Beautiful hotel in a quiet oasis not far from bustling marseille . Steep 10 minute walk up and back to the sea. A must see was the Calanques of Marseille - though difficult to reach its absolutely beautiful and you need a cab ( 30 euros) . Sonmouire is the closest and largest. Take train to beautiful Cassis and break that up with sights in Marseille. The front desk staff and dining staff is awesome at Bompard Hotel and the breakfast and pool are awesome ! We loved it !

Pleasant place to stay in Marseille

Clean room, comfortable queen-sized bed, stocked mini-bar, friendly service, spacious well-designed bathroom. Great location if you want to be in a safe and scenic part of town close to the Corniche Kennedy, requires a bit of walking uphill and if you're approaching on foot from the Corniche. Alternately, if you have a lot of luggage or have any physical issues, come by car or taxi. We booked this place because it's a short walk from Vallon des Auffes and we had reservations at Chez Fonfon (bouillabaisse !!). Service was great, they called me the morning of my reservation and notified me about a technical problem (heating) in advance and offered me some alternatives. Since it wasn't very cold even in November, thanks to the Mediterranean climate, we kept the room and were not disppointed. I would happily stay here again.

Pleasant stay in suburban Marseille

Concerned about the reputation of central Marseille this hotel is in what appears to be a safe residential area. Although on the edge of Marseille excellent frequent bus service to the harbour and city centre .A long steep 20 minute downward walk to the Corniche and sea area-but worth the effort. No local amenities - shops , cafes etc. Breakfast in the hotel was decent although not inexpensive at 15 Euros. The evening meal was basic and you would not wish to eat it more than once and again pricey for what was on offer .Although provided as a service in the room there was a charge for coffee when the expresso machine was used. Pool large and pleasant although unheated and cold in June. Gardens pleasant and well kept. General overall experience good.

This hotel is quite nice. The location is good in that there are frequent buses into the Old Port. We also walked it a couple of times - about 25 mins. Some of the staff are very pleasant. The pool area is well kept and very quiet which is a real bonus. The food is good in the hotel and the breakfast is very good. There are no local bars or restaurants as it is in a very residential area. But it is just a 10 minute walk to the Corniche where there are restaurants as well as places to swim. So, all in all I would recommend Bompard as a nice place to stay in marseille

This hotel is difficult to find but Sat Nav will find it for you. The Hotel has secure parking within a beautiful garden. The rooms have been renovated and very comfortable. If one wishes to go to town there is a bus service (61) to the center and port every 10 minutes and only 50 meters from the Hotel. The only problem is the last bus back is at 8.30pm so we took a taxi which was only 10 Euros.We have stayed twice at this hotel and would stay again. Highly recommended.

We originally booked 2 beds room and when we arrived to hotel we've been told that they apologized for not having any 2 beds rooms available and they accommodated us with their most expensive 3 bedroom suite without any extra charge. Pros: very quiet; pretty courtyard; adequate but not exceptional restaurant; 45 minute walk to Notre Dame Cathedral and old port area; parking is included in nightly rate.
Cons: Location is extremely difficult to find by car; very narrow streets are hard to negotiate and there is a good chance your car will be scratched or dented; we had to back up ( a long uphill block) 3 times one day to allow others to pass--don't need this stress on vacation; no other restaurants in the immediate area.

Quiet neighborhood, lovely garden, secluded pool. We stayed in the old building which was very charming. The reception area lacks charm but the dining terrace attached to it is lovely. Room was clean and quiet, but a bit small( we were in a standard room). Breakfast was also very good. Hotel is not really close to a beach you can use or to sites but everything is a short taxi ride away. I drove my own car there and had difficulty finding the hotel in the small twisty streets.
I would highly recommend this hotel and will stay there again

Good value for money.Bathroom was not too clean when we checked in on the first day but they cleaned it the following day.Great if you have a car as there is ample parking.Difficult to find even if you dont have a GPS.Conveniently located near bust stops and the cafe/restaurant has really good food and fantastic service.

Hotel is ideal if meeting is close by--as was my case. Otherwise the hotel is somewhat remote from downtown and restaurants. But bus 61, with nearby stop, can get you to and from downtown for E1.5. WIFI is sometimes erratic a nuisance. Staff is very helpful.

Would stay again if meeting is closeby. But prefer a downtwon hotel to share in the Marseilles atmosphere.

The New Bompard is an oasis in the jungle that is Marseille.
Leafy courtyard great pool and restaurant , remember to book for dinner, short bus ride into old town saves the dread of finding a park.
Lovely early morning walk to basilica recommended by staff gave great views over city and surrounds.
Not that easy to find thank god for satnav.

Oasis in a busy city

New Bompard is located in a quiet part of the city, but close to the centre. The surrounding area is within walking distance and the bus stop is at the end of the street to travel into the centre. The hotel is well appointed and very comfortable, with a lovely pool and a good terrace restaurant. Advisable to book the restaurant as it is popular and not large. The gardens are really lovely. Free wifi and free parking - again limited, but only if you arrive late. Recommended hotel for all groups.

Quiet and relaxing

Located in a residential spot makes this hotel ideal to get away from it all and relax in the quiet surrounds of the pool. The main tourist attractions are a bus/cab ride away though. Walking is an option but up and down the hills in the heat might not be for all. The hotel was clean and tidy, staff very friendly and accomodating. Recommended for those loooking for a city break whilst also wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas when necessary.

the Bompard is a very nice hotel with polite & friendy staff
the food was very good for lunch & dinner; a little expensive but worth it
breakfast is ok; continental with maybe some scrambled eggs if your early enough but not worth 12 euros
The pool area is good with plenty of sunbeds and tables & chairs, very sunny till late with a bar & waiter service through the day
our rooms were clean with comfy beds & robes , slippers, toiletries etc. but coffee making is 2 euros per cup!
the hotel is pretty good overall but maybe a little far out from the main port area, which is where most of the restaurants & bars are situated. taxi was 8-15 euros each way depending on which route they fancy generally more going to town, as they seem to arrive at the hotel with 5 or 6 euros on the meter already??

We were there for our honeymoon for 2 nights, the staff were really friendly and helpful! The room looked recently renovated and the bed was pretty comfy. The only complaint I have was we asked for a non-smoking room however the whole building we were in stunk of smoke and our room the first night was pretty bad, we decided to turn off the air con which made our room much better just lucky it was not very hot during our stay.

This hotel was exceptional and our room was lovely. The dinner in the hotel is definately worth having so you don't have to go into Marseille.

The hotel really is on top of the hill and the access is difficult if you have a large car as they are only a car wide at best. Once your there though it's well worth it.

Internet is not existent in this hotel.

This hotel complex was like having your own estate in Marseille. The beautiful gardens, outdoor courtyard and stylish old buildings made the whole experience great.

The room we stayed in had a very stylish, modern interior with quaity fittings and a Nescafe Expresso (POD) machine. Nice touch for your own espresso in the morning. When we were there, it was two euro for the pod (one cup) but well worth it.

We had our own car and parking is provided free. We also used the bus which is just a one minute walk (or less) from the hotel. It takes you right into town.

Don't eat at the hotel restaurant

The breakfast was OK, but the dinner was terrible. My husband is one of those people that will eat anything, not from this place. Way overpriced and sooooooooooooo disgusting.

New Hotel Bompard

Nice hotel in peaceful and relaxed surroundings, nice swimming pool area. Room was smallish but very clean, bathroom was newly renovated so was very modern and clean and had a huge shower. Staff were friendly and helpful. Town center is about a 25 min walk, all downhill, so we got a taxi back (about €12 ). Overall a nice hotel away from the hustle and bustle of Marseille, and I would stay here again.

When we arrived it was very late, but still very difficult to find. The night person was not very knowledgable in questions we needed answered and very unwilling to help. The room was not what we had booked and asked for some kind of compensatoin in the morning with the manager and they refused. We found the customer service to be extremely poor and very rude as well. The grounds themselves as they display in the pictures are very beautiful, which is deceiving to lure you in but I would not list this as one of your hotels on expedia to our US customers traveling to France.

Quiet hotel wlthin walking distance to city center

Beautiful hotel with a serene garden tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Very quiet in spite of being very close to the city center. Parking facility was excellent, hotel staff very helpful and the waiter at the restaurant was exceptionally efficient and corteous. The only disappointment was that the food was just OK - nothing special.

Quiet place to stay in Marseille

Relaxing, quiet and clean ***Hotel with plenty of space in and around the room. Very friendly staff. We enjoyed most of our stay very much. The only criticisable issue were the smelly bath towels, which should either be renewed more often by the hotel or be washed at a hotter temperature. If without car, take bus Nr. 61 from downtown. However, after 8pm you will need to take a taxi back to the hotel.

J’ai découvert l’hôtel Mercure Bompart par hasard il y a quelques mois, et depuis, je n’ai jamais été déçue. Le personnel est aux petits soins, toujours attentif et chaleureux. La nourriture est excellente, l’hôtel est très propre, calme et bien entretenu. C’est toujours un vrai plaisir d’y séjourner — une belle adresse que je recommande sans hésiter

Varierende erfaringer, men godt totalinntrykk

I løpet av båre dager på hotellet hadde vi både gode og mindre gode opplevelser.

Ved ankomst fikk vi tildelt et rom med store utfordringer i forhold til kloakklukt fra bad og toalett. Dette rommet lå i en endre bygning til venstre på eiendommen. Dagen etter ba vi pm å få bytte tom, og det fikk vi uten noe om og men. Her fikk vi en helt annen opplevelse. Dette rommet var nytt, rent og flott, og lå i bygget på høyre side av eiendommen. Her hadde vi balkong, godt fungerende aitconditioning, god seng og romslig bad.

Bassengområdet var bra, og vi hentet rene håndkler i resepsjonen.

Personalet opplevde vi som svært varierende. Enkelte tok sin jobb på alvor, ryddet, gav gode svar og god service. Andre kunne ikke bydd seg mindre om servicen. Det var f.eks. Ikke viktig om vår forhåndsbestille taxi kom eller ikke, eller å gi oss beskjed om hva som skjedde. Det var helt likegyldig. Eller å prioritere å rydde vekk matrester fra bordene ute, slik at ikke det kom flokker med duer som fråtset i restene. Hadde alle ansatte vært på nivå med de som virkelig gjorde en god jobb, og hatt et eierskap til jobben sin, hadde vi hatt en helt annen og positiv opplevelse av stedet.

The hotel is situated in a quiet area, with access to bus routes in less than a ten-minute walk.
The breakfast is reasonably-priced (€20), with a good spread of options, and a very nice outdoor seating option.
The reception staff are very welcoming, polite and accommodating.
However, don't rely on the parking. The hotel only has about 15 spaces, and works on a first come, first served basis, and there is little-to-no on-street parking space around the hotel. In that context, the hotel is potentially a long way from parking facilities, and from the central train station.
Additionally, the cleaning staff don't always respect room privacy, with no 'Do Not Disturb' sign available, and they seem more concerned with being able to finish early than necessarily respect client privacy.
In our room, the shower needed a facelift, and the phone didn't work (when we raised this, we were told, \"yes, it does\"), and the sound-proofing is not great.
Overall, an ok hotel, but over-priced for what it offers.

Eine schöne ruhige Oase inmitten des Trubels von Marseille. Die Lage ist wirklich gut, allerdings sollte man gut zu Fuß sein oder ein erfahrener Autofahrer, viele Steigungen und sehr enge Gassen. Insgesamt ist das Personal bis auf ein, zwei Personen sehr aufmerksam, hilfsbereit und sehr freundlich. Was mich etwas gestört hat, ist der Umstand beim Frühstück, dass die Hygiene etwas zu wünschen übrig lässt. Nicht jeden Tag eine Serviette für das Brot zum anfassen am Buffet und fast täglich dreckige Teller am Buffet, welche man selbst erkennen und aussortieren musste. Achtung, wer Cappuccino liebt, sollte sich lieber einen Milchkaffee ziehen aus dem Automaten, im Cappuccino findet sich Trinkschokolade wieder. Schmeckt gut, kommt aber unerwartet. Ansonsten ist das Frühstück gut, viele süße Teilchen und unfassbar leckere gesalzene Butter. Letztere sollte man unbedingt auf dem herrlichen Brioche kosten, sofern es welchen gibt. Die Zimmer sind insgesamt sauber und etwas hellhörig, Ausstattung ist gut. Achtung! Trotz der Vorauszahlung bei der Buchung des Zimmers, kann es sein, dass beim Check-in eine Sicherheitsgebühr per Kreditkarte verlangt wird, bei einer Woche Aufenthalt waren es bei uns 450€, welches beim Check-out umgehend zurück gebucht wurde. Die Dame an der Rezeption konnte es selbst nicht verstehen, warum ihre Kollegin eine derart hohe Sicherheit verlangt hat. Dennoch würde ich jedem dieses Hotel empfehlen für einen Aufenthalt in Marseille.

Nice stay at Mercure Centre Bombard La Cornich

We stayed 4 nights at the hotel Mercure. Quiet surroundings and good beds. Friendly and helpful staff. Nice swimming pool, and good breakfast. 30 minutes walk down town, bus L61 can be used, 30 m to the bus stop. Tickets on the bus. At nights, bus 83 or 583 to be used. Good value for the money, we highly recommend this hotel.
