One of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had – avoid

Reading other reviews, it appears the hotel rarely (if ever) responds, so this may well fall on deaf ears — but future guests deserve to know what they’re walking into.

I arrived at 1am after a long flight, expecting at least a smooth check-in. Instead, the place was absolute chaos. The lobby was packed with people coming and going like Piccadilly Circus. Only two reception staff were serving, both completely disengaged — no eye contact, no acknowledgment, just endlessly typing into computers. Check-in took over 30 minutes, which is the last thing you need in the middle of the night.

The lobby stank of cigarette smoke, drifting in from the bar area, and to make matters worse there were numerous women openly touting for “business.” It felt uncomfortable, unprofessional, and completely inappropriate for a hotel.

Security is practically non-existent. Anyone can access the lifts and any floor — no key card required. That alone was deeply concerning.

The corridors were filthy. There was a large dead cockroach lying in the middle of the hallway carpet, which remained there for two full days without being cleaned. That says everything about housekeeping standards.

The room itself was extremely basic. There was no proper storage, just four hangers. One of the three plug sockets was faulty, making charging devices a nightmare. A workman was sent up, but the problem was never fixed.

Room was in good condition and easy to find parking. However, around noon requested housekeeping to come back in a little bit as i was getting ready to leave but they insisted to come in now, and room wasn't cleaned, no towel change. Requested towels but wasn't given until next day even though the guy had them. Wifi was very choppy, difficult to work so I had to buy cellular data plan. Daily party noise from outside until late night, and breakfast buffet options were limited.

I am a returning guest and always choose Citymax Bur Dubai cause of its location and friendly and helpful staff. The property is located at the center of everything and close to all the modes of transportation. The Managers at the property Rahul and Anu are fantastic and make your stay comfortable while paying attention to detail. The housekeeping staff was also exceptional 1 Shafiq was kind, polite and always greeted me with a smile.

Very bad experience, very low quality services, very dirty rooms, it is good for labors only with all my respect to labors but i felt i am staying somewhere in industrial area building where bad smells and people with slipers around and in lobby guys put their naked legs up infront of people. And it is cery expensive for such level of quality.
I DON'T ADVICE ANYONE TO TRY IT.

Location is great.
Rooms are a bit small, however the most annoying part of this hotel are the pillows. Those are the most uncomfortable pillows I've ever experienced in a hotel. They're inflated and bulky with no give. I could not sleep well and my neck was sore in the morning. The hotel had no other options.
I would have stayed another couple of days, but I had to switch hotels cause of that.

I like City Max, Kuwait St. Ive been choosing this hotel for years. I know you cant eliminate all noise even during the daytime but this hotel has been a little noisy. Doing room renovations and also major construction all around. At night on my floor a parent disrespectful to other guests lets her little one make a lot of noise, running up and down the hallway, shouting and screaming. Even the mother is loud she just doesn't care. Its not the child's fault its the mothers. Usually after midnight last night it lasted until around 0230 am. Im thinking the mother is working somewhere in Dubai and lives here with the daughter because their gone all day.

Could be a great stay if they fix the noise issue.

I have stayed in Citymax hotels in Dubai many times over. One issue is noise. There is construction near this hotel going on currently and it creates a lot of rucus. It’s very disturbing at night. And sound insulation of the night is not good.Has a very great breakfast spread.

Room is clean and simple. The hotel is busy and has a lot of rooms in each floor.
There was a lot of constructions around hotel, the noise didn't allow of quiet sleeping.

very happy with the hotel, the staff are friendly and respectful. Room size is decent and always clean. Everytime we left our room and came back it was always cleaned which was lovely. Clean towels are provided, water bottles are provided everyday as well as tea bags etc. Toilet was clean and in general all the hotel is clean and in good condition. The breakfast is also delicious. The only down side was the noise of construction all night preventing us from sleeping so we were then to tired for our excursions but other than that 10/10. 👌

This property was very good and I enjoyed my stay with the lovely assistants with a young man called Desmond on the front desk. I enjoyed the breakfast, Gym and pool. The pool was clean and the life guard was friendly too. The rooms where always clean.

They can start buy telling the truth about the reviews of the hotel the hotel we this stayed in was not what the pictures made it out to be it was riddled in dampness the bathroom flooded and slosnesrly set fire to the lights the air conditioning didn't work place was so dirty the pool water was filthy and the customer service was terrible and do in professional we had to b moved 3 times into different hotel rooms i had a terrible flight and terrible hotel experience.

I arrived late , TV not work nor the Kettle , drink in the bar mega expensive and beer choice very limited if you not drink lager

Rooms very small , only good for one night stay , if you need stay longer pay a little more and find a better place

Oh and only on the 1sr night do they provide bottled water FOC after that you need pay , don’t understand that at all

there is some maintenance work which should be done regularly on higher level.i stay there for seven days and i used 6 card to unlock my door.this system is too old or may be the lock de-activate each time.so for us it is really a nuisance .hope this time when i coming this problem will disappear conpletely.As far as staff in the loby ANU is a superb man and while JUDY also knows their subject very well so my humble request is to take care for these staff so that they can look after us.

My only concern was that i was not allowed early check in, as i arrived the hotel around 6am and had to wait till 2pm. And again, all their TV channels are all arabic and indians channels, no where to watch sport channels. Please look into that. Every other thing, perfect.

Was hoping 3rd time lucky... Not the case!

When I got to the hotel around 2pm and tried checking in was told there was no twin room/non smoking availability and that I would have to wait or would have to have a smoking room even though i had made the booking 4 weeks prior to my stay. Then after speaking to a manager we were given a room and it was awful no natural light, dirty bathroom that had hairs in the shower tray, the chair was worn. Not what i would expect from a hotel in Dubai. So requested another room the request was successful so that was a plus point. We had breakfast however the options are limited as in not much variety very indian orientated choices which isn't everyones choice of breakfast. They do offer croissants/muffins and fruit too. The day we were to check out I rung reception to ask for help with our luggage and was told 'no-one is available and the wait would be at least 45mins if I did want help' So instead took my luggage via the lift downstairs having to make 2 trips so much for customer service! Overall, check in and out is slow and customer service isn't great. Rooms are tiny. Local area around the hotel is the only advantage with 2 metro stations within walking distance and supermarkets and eatries near by.
