I write this review with the preface that I have stayed here twice before and never had any of these experiences. Perhaps the hotel has gone through management changes.

The first room that I entered into stank of pungent take out food, which had not been aired. After two nights, I asked about getting rid of the smell, and they immediately moved rooms. The new room was fine; however, it had many silverfish. I took photos and videos of them - the staff did put down something to poison the bugs. Then the room smelt of that for some time.

I recognize that due to the holidays, there would be changes in staffing. But, my room was turned over once in 11 nights, regardless of whether I put the sign on my door or not. I typically found myself asking for things that would usually have been filled daily without asking. I was not asking for my bedding to be washed as I appreciate the hotel’s eco friendly work.

Lastly, they no longer serve breakfast. I was told a few pastries - there was never anything there. I feel that the website details just need to be updated a little so that people know that there is no breakfast service and that housekeeping will not often happen. Staff are friendly and the spaces are great.

Overall, I would like to stay again and I hope that this was just a one off poor experience. Thus, my rating is written also in light of earlier stays numerous years ago.

Handy to have the kitchen part of the apartment and the staff were very helpful. The double bed was a small double so quite tight. We were on floor 10 and 1 night it was windy and the whole room was creaking and rattling all night so very little sleep. The pastures and coffee in the morning were a nice touch. Location wise was 20 minute walk into town so quite central and at the back was a quiet road

This was a decent back up after our original accommodation let us down. Early check in was an extra £10. Car park was full, even early, but council parking literally across the road was cheaper anyway (albeit less secure). Location is a bit of a walk into town, but we just got a cab anyway. Overall would stay again for the price.

The apartment was okay for a couple of nights, useful kitchen facilities and a powerful hot shower. Free coffee and croissants was good (although nothing to put on the croissants?). However, the bathroom STANK of old cigarette smoke which we were worried about sticking to our clothes. Also more than one chair for a double room would be good!

We have just had a weekend stay at the property. It appears this hotel is refurbished student halls accommodation - it really had a feel that it was from about 20 years ago. The shower was unclean with hairs and had a “capsule” feel like from our student halls days. We tried to pay 3 times for late check out and were told no and to check back later (hence asking three times).

People were very noisy in the corridor at all hours, for the price point we felt ripped off. There are better hotels in the area for cheaper, with a cosier and more premium feel. Wouldn’t stay in this brand of hotel again, we usually like to stay in a property with a kitchenette but due to the ambiance of the room we wanted to avoid sitting in the room as much as possible.

Full kitchen. Very clean. Comfortable hotel, but no AC in the room, so keep that in mind if it’s a hot day. They do have a fan though. There’s free coffee in the lobby, as well as croissants every morning which is nice. I’d stay here again!

for an apartment hotel, the rooms are OK, but it was very poorly cleaned. I pointed it out and asked for visible trash under sofa to be cleaned up but it wasn't. They do have coffee in the morning but could certainly offer at least one more coffee bread.

Very comfortable stay and excellent service from the front desk (booked both early check in and late check out meaning I had a total of 48 hours occupation of the room and only for an additional £10 for each). As many reviews suggest, the rooms do lack vigour, feels like a big open space with very basic and minimal furnishings, but equally everything you need. Walls are extremely thin - the benefit of the late checkout I’d booked was somewhat negated by the very audible sound of the housekeeper clearing out the room next door. Location is close enough to the city centre but about 30 minutes walk to get into the very heart of it (you have to cross a bridge over the motorway). Doesn’t feel like a city centre hotel as a result. Parking in the car park opposite worked out cheaper than using the hotel car park for the two days I was there (this may be because it was the weekend).

The room was lovely, and the complimentary pastries at breakfast was great. However, we tried to use the facilities provided in the room- the microwave and the hob- and neither of these worked properly. The microwave would smoke up when we tried to heat up anything, and the hob just didn’t work at all. Someone came up to assist with this, he confirmed it didn’t work, then offered to put us in another room. The room we used to cook in was a mess and was just very dirty. The windows were open so it was freezing and it just wasn’t a nice area to cook in at all. So this place has a lot of potential, was in a good area and was a good sized room. However, the issues with the facilities did ruin the experience slightly.

Always enjoy a stay at any Roomzz hotel, you tend to always enjoy a nice spacious apartment room, comfortable bed and general is good value for money. Stayed here before but we obviously paid for a better room as this wasn't as nice as previous. Apartment was ok but the bathroom was our only complaint, it was tiny and very much like an Ibis Budget bathroom. Other than that's, it was all ok

The fridge wasn’t working, the freezer compartment was dripping water which left fridge shelves flooded. The main light in the room didn’t work either. The bathroom wasn’t overly clean with long dark hairs scattered throughout. The room seemed a bit all over and not laid out particularly well, second set of towels were almost hidden in living area, even though the room was booked for two? The fan provided was so noisy meaning when it got unbearably warm at 3/4am with no air-con we couldn’t use it. Nothing like the Newcastle roomzzz and a bit off putting sadly.

Best of all were the staff: friendly and helpful. A confession: I left stuff in the room, and when I phoned, the hotel staff found it for me and posted it back. Really appreciated.

Easy to park (opposite - you have to pay) which is rare for a hotel so close to city centre. Not so easy to check in (IT failure). But the room is amazing. Huge, clean, like new. Small kitchen, dining table, sofa, large tv. Nice bathroom. Would prefer a bath. Such a lovely place. I could live here!

I've stayed at other Roomzzz in the past but not for 18 months or so. So I'm not sure if it's just this hotel or whether Roomzzz has slipped. Everything was a bit old, staff couldn't seem to make for seamless reservations and thigns were dirty/didnt' work: iron, washing machine/dryer, dishwasher; bed linen was dirty with brown stains on fitted sheet and duvet cover in one of the rooms I was shunted to.

Anyway, I like the location, some of the staff were really great and all were ok and the apartment size was good but you'd expect more for the price, given past standards and the fact that people really need value for money these days.

Such a great stay. I wanted to try something a bit different not too far from home (Preston) and it was such a delight! Every member of staff I spoke to was polite, professional, but each had that extra special touch of their own personality! It was professional but relaxed if that makes sense! The cleanliness was top notch, and everyone was so friendly I felt like I already knew everyone. And one thing I found was a great touch was that they actually always remembered my name and for the first time in my life said it correctly everytime, LOL! I hate it when people tell you their job but I work for a global hotel chain and I could see exactly where the staff were going out of the way to make everyone’s stay comfortable and safe. In a nutshell I didn’t really like my stay.....I LOVED IT! Very well done guys, I hope you get the appreciation you deserve!

Very Good Comfy stay at Hotel

The layout of the App room is well laid out.
Room has got very good thick curtains similar to high end hotels which are good to cut out that morning or daytime light.
The shower unit is well made with a very good power shower. The Noir Bath & Body Wash products that are used are very good just like in 5 star hotels.
There are quite a number of eateries just outside the hotel
so I would definitely recommend this place.

Great service from the team of staff on reception. Good facilities within the apartment but a few issues;
The whole of the floor was dirty and not been swept or mopped correctly (walking from the shower my feet where black with dirt just walk from the bathroom to the bed.)
The shower controls where extremely difficult to turn with dry hands and impossible once wet.
The complementary continental breakfast bits was a nice surprise. (Room 707)

This is ok, nothing exceptional, place is clean enough but still a little grubby. My main complaint is that, in the middle of winter, I checked in during the evening and the room was about 25C despite the window being left open after cleaning. Absolute waste of energy! Management need to take a good hard look at themselves and their policies.

Pleasant stay, day time staff were lovely and accommodating. I found the night time staff and security lacked interested and were very passive. Room was nice, clean and spacious.

The hotel is about 25 mins walk from the city. We used Uber and was around £4 during the day and £12 return on the evening. We parked over the road from the hotel as there were no spaces and managed to control parking by an app. This was around £10 for an overnight stay.

Would stay again!

Just what we needed somewhere to stay near to town, quiet of an evening, complimentary pastries & hot drink machine great option for quick breakfast on the go!
Room was very spacious, clean, everything we needed for a short stay but also good for longer stays, kitchen had all basics plus dishwasher, ironing board, washer/dryer, fridge freezer.
Staff friendly & helpful!
Location is a good 10-15 minute walk to centre of town and some quite busy roads to cross on route. Hotel is situated amongst a student accommodation area.

Fine room, poorly trained staff,

Staff member blatantly broke GDPR regulations by giving out my room number to someone who called asking for me, turns out that person was my lunatic ex girlfriend, who I have a restraining order against. She denied doing this, despite being caught bang to rights. Never did receive a proper apology, or explanation, as I had asked. The room itself is fine, all mod cons. nice for a short stay, but not if you value your safety.
