What a beautiful stay! I have always visited AP for day trips, and this was my first overnight. The room was toasty warm, and the views of the convention center and ocean were amazing! I will definitely be back! The only thing I noticed, is that the room had a fridge but didn't say it on the website, which meant we didn't pack drinks or bring leftovers back from our first dinner. Otherwise, it was pure magic, I love the vintage charm without being outdated or run down, just the best experience!

This hotel is not what it seems. The positive reviews are misleading. I would not recommend this hotel especially if you are traveling alone. It is so large but so empty. It felt like a ghost town. Maybe for weddings it's okay because you only sleep in the hotel room.... after a night of drinking.

The staff (every single one we encountered) was wonderful. Unfortunately, for the price we paid we expected a much more updated bathroom (it only had a sink...no vanity or anywhere to put our toiletry bags), there were very few outlets, the lamp shade was broken, and the biggest problem was that there was no fan in the bathroom. I would also have appreciated real milk or 1/2 and 1/2 available with the morning coffee.

Best part about this property. It’s its location. It is an old property that needs to be updated. During the day the air conditioner barely keeps up with keeping your room cool. At night it cooled down enough to sleep, but we had to get an additional fan to help it cool down. Overall, it was clean however, the shower curtain floated in the bathtub, which was really gross when you were taking a shower and the tub did not drain very well. The valet parking for $75 a day. I thought it was a little excessive. We chose this property because the price was well below the other properties in the area

It was a comfortable stay! The staff was friendly and efficient. MY room had a beautiful ocean view and easy access to the Sea Hear Now festival. The parking fee was steep but understandable given the location. I wish the Berkley offered more dining options.I would stay at the Berkley again.

Our room was booked with Expedia as an ocean view deluxe king. Our room did have some view of the ocean but mostly of the building in front of us, the roof below and most lovely the garbage disposal area below. The room was dirty. The bed was very uncomfortable with cheap pilly sheets. The curtains were so old the backing was pealing off.
We requested a different room, which was denied by the hotel. I called an agent from Expedia and complained about the room. She too was unable to do anything.
I don’t know if the hotel management was unwilling to accommodate us because we booked with a third party? It wasn’t because they were full and no other room was available.

Cant beat the location, right next to everything. Parking was 75 a night or street parking which was nearly impossible. Customer service was basic but not rude. The room was outdated and there was a water leak in the hallway which caused ablotof noise.

We will probably stay here again due to it's excellent location. We would've given The Berkeley five stars if their gym had a chest press which worked, and/or a weight rack with barbells so we could've made - up our own custom workouts. Otherwise it's good that their gym is always open .

Well, let’s start at the beginning. I arrived via Car not one of your valets came over to help me get the things out of my car. They stood there while I struggled with my suitcase, my chairs, etc. Ultimately a man showed up and took my luggage. You charged $100 a night for a car parking. That’s outrageous and a total rip off. Then I asked if you have a room available for early check-in you said yes but it was $125. Another total rip off. The room was mediocre best. The refrigerator was old and wobbly. The shower nozzle was so low that it was difficult to wash my hair as I’m tall. And the pool was closed on Tuesday the day after Labor Day and we couldn’t even use it. In addition, you say you have endless coffee in the lobby. Each room should have their own coffee maker. Plus your “endless“ coffee only goes till 10 AM. It was a disappointing stay for the price I paid and the parking. You take advantage of being on the beach and rip people off.

My family and I have been staying here for the past 5 years. This year there were many more dogs than past years. Lots of barking into the night. Mattresses not comfortable at all. Pool food is not quality for the amount of $ u spend. Hotel should make that area by the pond an area to buy pool food and sit down breakfast and lunch. Should have a good restsurant in the hotel.

Service has gone down in recent years. Used to be a fun trip staff was always gracious and accommodating. We were harassed at the pool by an employee who insisted that we were on lounges that we had to pay to sit on. This was on a Monday morning pool was fairly empty, plenty of available seating. This was so uncalled for and unprofessional. After the fact a sign was put up at the entrance that some lounges had a fee. The damage was already done. Totally wrong to treat us this way. Later in the day same employee harassed us about towels on unattended chairs. Eventually complained and was offered two drinks, big deal. An apology from the employee was have been more meaningful. Sadly I will not return to the Berkeley again.

We were staying for a busy holiday weekend. The property was affordable and the bed was comfortable. The bathrooms had badly damaged (or poorly installed) hardware that was falling apart and not staying in their proper position. I didn't mind saving money without the ocean view, but I didn't realize it would mean having to hear the loud partying from the bar next door. We couldn't sleep until after last call at 2 a.m. The beds were comfortable. The air conditioning unit was so loud and turned back on every five minutes. There was convenient breakfast downstairs and a shop. Access to a hot water kettle would make life far easier. It was super convenient for a short weekend, and the staff were wonderfully friendly and informative.

The location was great but parking was $90 a DAY and also charge a $28+ hotel fee a day onto the already expensive prices for average room. Hotel is dated compared to others in the area. Not sure what the hotel fee is even for, it seems it is just a way to pad the bill. Front desk staff were nice but only 1 person working so took time to check in. My main issue is the price of parking and resort fee. Never have ever had to pay $90 A DAY to park. Pretty ridiculous

An interesting building with a great history has been reduced to lipstick on a pig. The only employees with a sense of professionalism and service were the valet parking team, and at $90 per day, they had better be. While our room was quite spacious, the window treatments were stained and filthy, and one armchair was held together with scotch tape. Worse still was being awakened at 2:00 AM from a room party one night, street partiers another. The bars look nothing like the website photos and are tired and old. For the supposed sports bar, the televisions showing old Westerns were ridiculous. Lastly, a casual breakfast served in paper boxes was $55, and our pizza in the sports bar was served on cheap paper plates. This hotel might think they are a sophisticated oasis in Asbury Park, but we would argue it is anything but.

We always stay here for our yearly beach trip. Staff has always been very friendly and accommodating. The suites are very spacious which is helpful for extended stays. Location is great- pool/ pool staff are lovely. We enjoy coming every year! Thank you.

Our room had a broken bathroom door and a light fixture above the door was not secured into the ceiling. As a result, we had to change rooms. I also believe for the rates charged there should at least be a coffee maker in the rooms.

Our Stay At The Berkeley
We were rather dissatisfied ith the room's ammenities. The bathroom was lacking in every ossible way.There was no towel bars in the bathroom, there was no ventillation, there was no vanity or shelf/counters upon which to place our personal care products. There was no place to put the towels for storage. When we arrived in the room all the towels had fallen off the towel rack and were on the floor. There was only one suitcase valet for a room reserved for two people, thus the 2nd occupant placed all of her belongings excwpt on top of the desk. The only wall outlet was on one side of the room, besides the module/alarm clock that does not accomodate all cables. We did not use your parking service because the price of $90 per night is outrageous. We were pleased to see that the room was tidied up and the beds were made. We were pleased that all requests for additional towels were responded to promptly.

I swear my experience changes each time I stay at this place. I pick it because of the convenient location, right across the street from the beach and the rooms are on the large side. It's great that they now have refrigerators in the rooms too, incredibly helpful and convenient. However every time I Stay I either have a good experience or a horrible experience this was my second visit for the summer of 2025 and this time was much less of a good experience than the previous one. The carpet was wet in the room and they sent someone up to dry the bathroom floor. Completely misunderstood what I told them on the phone and then never sent anyone back. The door handle came off the inside of the bathroom door. That could have been a very dangerous stuck in the bathroom incident if nobody else was in the room. The hotel seems to fail in just basic upkeep in many ways. And the lobby bathrooms were filthy this time and I only spent one night there. It's a shame again because of the great location, but for what you pay for these rooms even during the week, they could do so much better with basic upkeep.

I am very, very disappointed in the way I was treated at Berkeley Hotel. We were in the middle of hurricane Erin and could not leave our hotel beaches were closed. Pool was closed. Boardwalk was closed. Several shopping areas were open, but we had to drive to them. If we moved your car we would have to pay for parking all over again. Berkeley hotel did nothing at all to entertain us. No events planned in the hotel no complementary lunch or breakfast. Nothing was planned to accommodate our guest during the hurricane. I am very disappointed. I have asked to be credited a day because I was supposed to check out on Friday and due to staring at four walls for four days I decided to check out a day early also to add the four days that I stayed we had no maid that came in to clean our room make our beds give us clean towels I had to go to the front desk and ask for towels, garbage bags tissues, and so forth I am very very disappointed and also to add Expedia did not help me at all and try to get some type of help and getting some type of credit I would never book through Expedia again nor through Berkeley hotel

We had an amazing time at the Berkeley. We were on our Honeymoon. The stuff couldn’t have been more professional and polite. Building was in great shape and its location was perfect for walking around Asbury Park. Will certainly stay there again!

It wants to be a boutique hotel but isn’t. The coffee in the morning is domino sugar packets and coffee-make creamers, for what you pay per night, a nicer set up would be great.
The weirdest feature was there is a room next to the gift shop where the clothes guests have left behind are for sale for $50-100+. It’s really tacky.

The room was a nice size. Close to the beach. The parking was ridiculous- the price is different than listed. They charged 90$ for valet parking. Tried to call ahead of time to schedule my car pickup for departure. Took them over a half hour to get the car. Also front desk disappeared at night. Waited there over 20 min for someone to appear (while simultaneously calling them).

The hotel is just right for us. It's across from the beach, there is a pool, its comfortable and clean. I would fix up the fitness gym and maybe some better choices for breakfast. Overall, It is my great escape!
