Problems with check-in. We arrived around 7:00 PM, but the reception was closed, and the nearest open reception is 5 km away. After many phone calls, we finally got a check-in link, but it took more than 2 hours before we could enter our room. We were stuck outside trying to check in, pay the deposit, and the tourist tax — very frustrating. you also have to take out the trash when checking out. If you're looking for a cleaning staff position in Barcelona - it seems a perfect place for you!

Big PROBLEMS with check-in. We arrived after 19:00 and the reception was CLOSED (they open at 23:00). The nearest open reception is 5 km away. After many phone calls, we were finally given a link to complete the check-in — which also wasnt easy. It took us about 2.5 hours before we could enter our room. We were literally standing outside the building trying to check in, pay the tourist tax, and pay the deposit, which was also problematic.

guests have to take out their own trash when checking out. I’m just glad they didn’t also ask me to clean the staircase and wash the bed linens!

Everything was just okay. Everything was close by. Public transportation, attractions were easy to get to. Great customer service. The only thing I would like them to consider is changing the beds! The bed/mattress were super uncomfortable. Mattresses were cheap and super old and dirty under the clean sheets

We were very disappointed with this stay. The check in experience was a true nightmare. Staff was very rude, and apparently we had to go to another location almkat 30 minutes away to do the check in. The apartment was not the cleanest one. They charge you extra for fresh towels, and they expect you to take out the trash yourself otherwise they will charge you for this also. I would not recommebd anybody to stay here.

I would not call this a hotel. There are no towel changes, nor sheets. 4 people had to share same towels for 1 week. The trash from the room had to be removed and walked across the street after check out, failure to do so, would result in a deposit charge, because apparently cleaning person doesn't take trash out. The hotel is close to the ocean, which is what we were looking for. The pool idea is cool, but tiny.

Decent location. Checking in was quite difficult. Only provide one towel per person, there is a washing machine but you need to buy your own washing machine tablets. You’re on a limited hot water meter. One pillow per person.

If you have a chance, look for another hotel.

It is not a bad location: it is about 3 minutes to the subway station and 10 minutes to get to the beach. That's about all the advantages of this hotel. Much more about disadvantages: most idiotic self-check-in procedure I've ever met (you have to pass it in another hotel in another part of the city), you must read intently the hotel's conditions not to be extra charged, a combination of iron furniture + cement floor will give you unforgettable squeaking sounds, window in the toilet that allows everyone to admire your profile sitting on the toilet, bloody cold floor, etc. So if you have a chance, look for another hotel.

Gradually declining experience

The living experience here is gradually declining… and staff is rude. That was a good starting at the very beginning, greeted by a very nice lady and explained everything clearly. The room was in good condition and big with all the facilities.

However, there are a few things that we felt the apartment needs massive improvements.

1. Supplies of personal hygiene products
We in a group of three are staying for 3 nights. 2 bottles of shampoo and shower gel are barely enough for us. We then asked for one extra shower gel, but the receptionist said we usually provide just 2 for each room. If you need extra, you will be charged… To be honest, as a 4-star apartment which the room price is not that cheap shouldn’t propose this restriction to the tenants. This should be a low cost for the hotel but they can in turn get a better reputation. This is what the management should consider.

2. Handling of trash and rubbish
As a 4-star apartment, we didn’t expect to handle our trash on the checkout date. This doesn’t sound to be a very good living experience.

3. Passive aggressive manner from the staff
We have stored our luggage on the checkout date. When we tried to get our luggage, there was no one at the reception and there was a sign saying “Back in 5 minutes”. Eventually, when the staff came back, he gave us an attitude by blaming us disturbing his lunch hour.

So many things were bad during the stay, but the most disgusting thing is this. I saw small flies here and there, and wandering where it comes from, and found out that it was from the open ceiling of the open loft. I checked it by standing on the counter top, and found a lot of garbage on the loft ceiling including used paper plate with food stain on. As result, I stayed jail cell with garbage next to my bed. Very disappointed and disgusting.

I chose this property because I had very good experience with DerbyHotels Collection, and trusted their management, but this property proved me wrong. It was totally unwanted experience in Derby Hotels.

I want my money and time back

I am not a picky person but I was so disappointed with this place and it negatively impacted our time in Barcelona. Check in was very inconvenient, as we arrived when no one was on site and had to pay for an expensive taxi to pick up the keys. The room was not as described and sleeping arrangements were uncomfortable. More generally, the place had the feel of a prison. The rooftop pool hours were very limited. Once we were able to access it, we saw it was seriously neglected. My child swam anyway and got terribly sick. When I reported the issue I got a brush off twice, with staff insisting that no one else had complained. I paid three times less at other places in Spain and had a far more pleasant experience.

Unhelpful and like a prison cell

Hotel was a nightmare from arriving after the flight was delayed. Refused to check us into the hotel even though there was a person on the desk looking at u through the glass at 19:00. Instead said we had to come back 4 hours later, or go to the other side of the city to collect the keys. Called 3.5 hrs later to say we were going to collect the keys and they said that option is not available anymore, need to come back at 1am or go to another location to get the keys. By this time it is 23:30 at night with 2 children in tow. Left with no choice, we then travel back and forth to an alternate location, costing us 30EUR in taxis and 1hr of time before we can then get into the apartment. They then refused to pay any compensation for this arrangement we were never told about, instead saying we could have self checked-in!! Which was never mentioned in any paperwork or on any of the phone calls. Once you get in the place is like mini prison cell blocks, where I was told call off if I hear of any parties going on. I understand for the price what I was getting, but add another 30EUR on top and no one that seemed to care, it’s one I won’t be visiting again.

Also spoke to hotels.com for the refund and they too washed their hands of the issue on several occasions, even though they were told of the alternative checkin situation and never passed that information on. Took 3 conversations with hotels.com of 20-40 minutes to get any decent feedback. Not great service all for 30 EUR.

They charge $8 “tourist” fee per person. Make sure you get there at the times they ask, other wise, like they said, you will have to wait OR go to another location to check in. There was rat poop on one of the mattresses, one of the tv’s didnt work, one of the showers didnt have a closing door so the water wouldn’t come out, the place took over two hours to warm up, and you have to take out the trash. The only positive I found was the location. Close to La Sagrada Familia and other must sees… didn’t have to pay for parking bc i was lucky both nights and found free parking… other wise, it would have been an additional $20 euros

Very nice apartment and 10 minutes walk from beach but check-in not possible between 6.30-11pm. You have to walk one hour to collect key (or take taxi). Reception helpful and contactable on phone but not great to arrive off a plane and have to lose time collecting a key from a different location. Restriction not clear when making non-refundable booking.

처음 도착했을 때 크리스마스로 인해서 무인 체크인 시스템을 이용했음 방법이 수월했고 샐프 체크인을 하기에 무리없었음 숙소 자체도 깨끗하고 지하철 역에서 5분 거리에 있어서 시내 접근하기 쉬웠음 바닷가를 걸어 갈 수 있는 거리에 있어서 야경 보기 좋았음
그러나 주변에 볼거리 할거리가 하나도 없음
또한 옆방의 소음이 새벽 2시까지 들리고 사소한 생활소음까지도 전부 들리는 상황이라 예민한 사람들은 잠을 잘 수가 없음

Duplex Aparthotel in Poblenou

The location of the Aparthotel was convenient to the Metroand Poblenou area of Barcelona. The unit was well equipped with appliances an utensils. It was perfect for our familly of two adults and 2 early teen children. Downside, the beds could be more comfortable and the sound carries through the wall.

Republik is a modern designed aparthotel. took a while to find it as it’s not clearly mentioned .. but loved it ..
Really good location..with a metro line next to you and free parking 8pm to 8am everyday.. walk to the beach is easy.. we loved the interiors ..trendy and open space.. big bed for us and sofa bed was comfortable for my boys. Kitchen was well equipped With a dishwasher and big fridge freezer . Bathroom toilet was very clean. Supermarket right below .
Negatives ..they didn’t provide a microwave ..
parking for the day is very expensive 22 euros a night.
There was a email explaining check in procedure saying that you can either come before 630pm or you have to pay extra to get a person in to do check in. Self check in option was given for which they wanted a dep of 250 euros..
Swimming pool is on the roof top which was too cold for Oct. lifts are good
Rubbish was expected to be thrown by us.
we stayed for three days and the rooms were not serviced.. they did say they wouldn’t be.
All in all highly recommended place if you want to enjoy Barcelona with style ..
Best bits.. they provided a startup pack with coffee tea sugar creamer and oil ..also a Startup bag with washing up liquid and a dishwasher tab. Helped without rushing to the supermarket everyday.

Industrial style apartments in good location

Located walking distance to beach. Back of the old Olympic village area. 5 minute walk to metro train. €7-10 for taxi to Sagrada Família. Modern apartment in quiet neighbourhood. Great beds, small but adequate kitchenette, very small lounge area, for 4 people just too small. Local bakeries nearby are handy for breakfast. Opposite apartment is coffee roaster serving great coffee. Rooftop pool (small) great after a day of sightseeing, closes at 8pm. Rooftop has view of Sagrada Família in the near distance. Management very helpful and provide guidance on seeing main attractions. Great place to stay!

Good apartments in a quiet area of Barcelona.

The view from the roof top pool is amazing (Torre Agbar and Sagrada Familia). The beach is an eight minute walk away. There are three metro stations nearby to get around and this is cheap and easy to use.

There should be a bit more information in reception about where everything is eg. shops, bars restaurants etc as there's nothing visible nearby. It's a very quiet semi-industrial/residential area and not touristy. Things are there but can be hard to find and took us a few days to settle. The beds are comfortable, the sofa-beds are not. The air con can be noisier than usual, but we would definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone visiting Barcelona.

Great location, however....

These open plan apartments are suitable for family’s. A metro 1 block away, a large supermarket 3 blocks walk away, small rooftop pool & a short walk to the beach. HOWEVER, it appears to attract groups in their 20’s-40’s who want to party & as this is loft type accommodation the noise travels! We stayed in apartment 13, the first night a group of lads decided to make a loud drunken appearance at 5am & hold an extremely loud conversation on the balcony for 45 minutes. The following 2 nights were quiet. The final night no.14 decided to have a party. It originally started on the balcony at 11pm whereby 8 people were smoking outside our door. I politely asked them to move away & asked they keep the noise down because of my 3 children. Within minutes the music was blaring from their apartment. Not wanting to spoil everyone’s fun I let it run until midnight. At this point I complained to the security guard who was wandering around the concrete garden and could hear the noise. He informed me his senior was dealing with it. At 12.15am I complained again to be told no.14 had claimed to be ‘watching tv’. Even though you could hear the music from outside the room, I took the security guard inside my apartment so that he could experience the noise we were hearing. This time it was dealt with or so we thought. It went quiet for 45 minutes then started up again at 1am. The website clearly states no parties but from experience noise disturbance is not challenged unless someone complains.

Four of us stayed here whilst visiting Barcelona for the Primavera Sound Festival.

The apartment was perfectly located for the festival and you can even walk if you needed to.

The metro being so close made it easy to get around and into town when we wanted. The local area was quite quiet but we found a few nice restaurants however their opening times were pretty inconsistent.

The apartment itself was probably a little small for 4 people with little space remaining once the sofa bed was open.

The pool area was well kept and a good place to get some sun during the day but did get quite busy.

We had a wonderful stay here. The staff were lovely and really helpful booking taxi's for us. The room was really nice and everything was clean. Taxi was 40 euros from the Airport, 15 to City Centre, and 6 to the clubs on the beach front. There's also loads of nice little places to eat around this area. and its a short walk to the beach.
Only thing was, we brought tea bags but the lead on the kettle is too small to plug in and be used (1.3)
Would highly recommend and stay again if I come back to Barcelona.

It's a very good apartment, close to the beach and very well communicated. The apartment is very clean and comfortable. The only problem is the check-in and check-out times. Between 6 pm to 11 pm there is no one to make the check-in, and if you arrive at the apartment in this gap it´s needed to go to the central offices that s incredible far from there.

Arriving after 6:30 pm we were pleased that they offered us the opportunity to complete all the paperwork via email and we're given the code for a key press. Unfortunately the building security was not aware of this arrangement which took some time to resolve.

The apartment itself was clean and well presented. The sofa bed was effectively in the entrance hall which wasn't ideal. We also had one disturbed night from noisy neighbours.

The location is handy for the metro but you did spend a lot of time on the metro getting to most places. The surrounding area is also pretty lifeless.

This is an apartment, which should be understood by the name and description, so don`t expect all hotel amenities.
The reception is not manned 24-hrs, you are expected to throw out your own trash etc, but in return you get an apartment close to downtown Barcelona.

The sleeping couch was not that pleasant, but it was find for one night. I would do a bigger apartment or different place if we were 4 for a longer time.
Wifi worked great and its an easy walk to the beach.

Horrible experience and incompetence of Expedia

Booked an executive apartment for 4 people at Aparthotel Republic and on arrival they gave us a room we did not purchase. Instead of a double bed and two single beds. They put us in a twin single room with a sofa bed virtually in the kitchen. The room was not suitable for 4 adults and was definitely not a 4 star. After discovering this I contacted expedia immediately who were incompetent with dealing with the situation whose customer service staff where extremely rude. I spent almost a full day on the phone with them where I was referred to different people who all said they couldn't help additional i also had the phone put down on me twice. The apartment was never cleaned once . On arrival we had no pillows and towels. Overall it was a horrible experience where expedia promised to chase up after 72hrs while they carry out an investigation, which did not happen. I am extremely upset as my holiday was ruined. I will definetly not be booking with Expedia again in the future.

Excellent property. Very well curated materials and exceptional choice in style of life.
It's not fair to call this a 4 star since it's an apartment. If you don't need a concierge ready to handle your every need and are an independent traveler... this is place for you. It was like home away from home.

Make sure you go too the grocery store on your first day and stock up so you can really use the place as a home.

Also, if you need to get cash, banks are not friendly. There is a Ciaxa (sp*?) bank 5 blocks east on the road the hotel is on that will change money for you.

Hassel Free Apartments!

We stayed for 8 nights. The apartment was nice and clean and had a modern feel. As the floor was polished concrete, I recommend packing some slippers. If you stay over 6 nights, your room will be cleaned once. Dustpan and brush are provided so you can sweep up in between. The apartment has air conditioning. You get an iron, hairdryer also. If you're coming from colder climates to Spain, a mosquito repellent is a must! I don't mean the sprays, you must buy a plug in for the wall socket. The downstairs bed looks like a double but in fact is two singles put together. Upstairs has an actual double bed. Downstairs has a bath/shower, upstairs has a shower unit.
Overall very happy with stay. It's away from the night clubs etc so is nice a quiet. Beach is a 10min walk away, metro 2 min walk. Apartment staff are friendly and helpful.

Ok stay...a bit overpriced

Spacious 4 individual beds loft. Seems to be mainly used for big groups, noticed mostly high-school kids (there are even lockers). It's like a big dorm, beds all in the same room, no individual rooms/privacy. The ladies at the reception were really nice. Plenty toilette paper and big fluffy towels. Kitchen with real limited amount of utensils yet has a toaster, a microwave, and fyi an induction stove. The A/C worked perfectly, wifi was real weak so was one of the tv's signal. There are not many power outlet. Spacious elevators and despite facing the street the noise is minimum (quite neighborhood too). Not a commercial nor touristic area, subway 1 block away and 5 the Rambla de Poblenou with small local shops and restaurants. Tiny supermarkets are all around opened even on Sundays. Beach is 7 blocks away. 10 blocks away The Glories mall and Diagonal Mar mall 3 subway stops away. Cabs do not run by often (closest: Carrer d'Avila and Carrer d'Icaria (available even on Sundays). Better cleaning needed in the apt, specially showers and walls. Shared areas were nice and clean. I guess because of the young crowd for which these apartments are targeted, the places lack fire detectors, yet it is a security risk. Seems ideal for big groups with 7 blocks away beach access as the main attraction, yet next time I'd rather go to a place closer to the beach, probably at the same rates as this one.

We stayed in a room which says for 4 people but there are only two single beds, and a sofa bed which we thought was a bit cheeky. Room was also narrower than it looked it photos.

On a positive note, all facilities were great and staff were nice and friendly. Rooftop pool provides some really nice views as well.

Staff were very helpful when there, but staff not available after 7pm. We had to check in at a different location because we arrived at night. Pool nice, view from deck was wonderful. Restaurants and food markets in area.

Great location near metro, beaches, good restaurants. Friendly helpful staff. Pool terrace very welcome - pity not open 7am - 11pm rather than 11am - 7pm to enjoy in the evening. Room spacious and comfortable - kitchen missing some essentials e.g. bottle opener and spatula. Would go back again.

Great stay! The apartment we go was really clean, there was 4 of us so we had 2 double beds and a pill out couch. The kitchen was great and there was a supermarket only a street away as well as the metro. The beach was a 15 min walk , where you could find the casino, restaurants and lots of clubs. The area was nice and quiet, however I wouldn't recommend walking at night so we would always take a cab out at night as well as back home at night. Not dangerous but I was really quiet so better safe than sorry! A cab is only 6 euros to the beach and 7 euros back! About a 35 euro trip to the airport! Will come back here!

Reception not scheduled to be open until 11 a.m. We arrived at that time, but no one was there to check us in until after 11:30.

When we were given our rooms, one of them smelled badly of cigarette smoke. When I discussed with the front desk, the problem was quickly fixed and we were given two new rooms, both of which were very nice and smoke-free.

Nice to have the kitchenette if you don't want to eat all meals out.

Neighborhood seemed somewhat dirty when we arrived on Sunday, but mostly because most of the shops were closed. Much improved on Monday when they were open, the sidewalk swept, etc.

Situated away from the hustle and bustle of central Barcelona but within walking distance of fantastic beach (10 mins) and centre (25 mins). Interesting local area felt safe and streets clean with café's and shops. Good Lidl supermarket on way to town. Appartment brilliant, very clean and very helpful staff. Rooftop pool nice area to spend time relaxing. Would definitely go back to Barcelona and stay at these apartments.

Wonderful neighborhood hotel/apartment

This was my first experience in European travel so was not sure what to expect. The room was small by US standards but comfortable. There was not a daily cleaning service or towel service. The kitchen was fully equipt for those who choose to buy food and cook themselves. Perfect size for 2 travelers but a larger party(especially adults) would be cramped.
The woman who worked the desk was amazing and extremely helpful. Overall my stay met my expectations!

Great hotel in a thriving cultural area

Really friendly Hotel staff who are very helpful, the room itself was very well decorated (minus an awful 6 sq ft picture in the living room), very good washing facilities but very basic cooking facilities (not having a proper oven for one). On the nights when we stayed in we struggled to work the TV's as they were just working against us, the channels wouldn't tune, you couldn't add HDMI or USB cables, they just wouldn't work on both tv's, plus no DVD/Blu player unlike the previous hotels we've stayed in, so it was pot luck on what we could watch. Luckily we only stayed in entirely for one day so it didn't affect us too much. T

hey have a wonderful roof top swimming pool and bathing facilities to relax with all afternoon but again, very basic, the pool was only 20 ft in length, but for what you get you can't really complain, I would stay here again and recommend it to friends needing a convenient place to stay in Barcelona.

The one thing I will mention however is the lack of comfort with the beds, realistically this room can only hold 3, me and my friend were practically on top of each other in the sofa bed which was really quite uncomfortable and incredible small. However, the single beds in the bedroom were dreadful, one night of sleep on them and everyone's backs had either gone or had awoken in cramp from just how bad they were.

Cool Barcelona apartment with rooftop pool

We took our 7 year old boy and stayed in a two bed apartment which was brilliant. We were a few minutes walk from the metro station with numerous urban cafes within a minute's walk from our building.

Big apartment, friendly people, iffy internet

The hotel was close to the office I had to visit for work. There are many little restaurants and bars within a 5 minute walk, nothing fancy. Beach is a ten minute walk. The wireless internet did not work well. The staff were nice and tried to help, but it never worked well.

Would be nice if it was more comfortable eg carpet on floor.

It would also be useful if you were told that you have to go to a hotel on the other side of town to get your key outside of reception hours.

Great apartment/hotel in Barcelona! Loved it!

We checked in easily and the staff was very accommodating. We moved into the first room only to find that the hot water heater for the room wasn't working (blown fuse?). The staff immediately relocated us to larger better room. It was fantastic! Great kitchen. Comfy furniture. A sofa bed for the kids. A large dining room table (for six). We were able to comfortably hang-out in the room for a few quiet nights at home.

Really good value! The hotel is really well maintained and the rooms are of an excellent standard. The area is a short (10 min) walk to the beach, although not exactly posh immediately around the hotel. The pool is small but has a nice view, especially at night. Helpful staff too.

This is a perfect hotel, very modern rooms, very clean, wonderful bathrooms. Slightly out of the city center but the Metro is a 5 min walk. Supermarket across the road, bakery 5 minute walk, beach 10 minute walk. It was nice to stay away from the very busy city centre, would definitely recommend.

Well furnished clean apartments close to beach

We stayed in Barcelona a few days as part of a euro-trip and the apartments were almost perfect. The place was very well cleaned and looked very new, comfortable with good appliances. Slight problem of our bathroom door not closing properly but otherwise flawless. Was very close to the beach and a few minutes walk from the metro station. We had 3 people in our group so my wife and I took the double sofa bed while the other took one of the two singles. It was a very good night's sleep, the hotel staff were friendly and courteous and spoke excellent English. Was not disappointed, in fact during our euro-trip I wish all the places had been just like this one !!! Neighbourhood is a little on the dodgy side. Not a very affluent area of town, but we had no problems. In fact the locals were very friendly to us. We would be happy to stay here again.

Gorgeous loft, a bit remote, & uncomfortable beds

We booked over th phone and were told this place was central. It's definitely not. The area is an up and coming zone with mostly little businesses and workshops around it. Mechanic shops, printers and some university buildings. Closest restaurants are about 15m walk. While the area felt safe, I wouldn't recommend it to women traveling alone since the streets were very empty at night, as there really isn't much open in the immediate area at night. A bit noisy at night due to some drunk men walking on the street fighting. That said, I did feel safe walking home with my family. It is about 3 minutes from Llacuna metro stop. Convenient for getting around. We found some nice tapas places close by on Poble Nou about 15m on foot. The apartment was very chic - huge, soaring ceilings and modern furniture. It was very very spacious and clean. My only complaint was that we were not told that 3 of the 4 beds in the apartment were sofa beds. The one bed was nice, but 2 beds had very uncomfortable mattresses that had large buttons on them that made for an unrestful night. The rooftop pool was fantastic, but only open til 10pm. Delicious breakfast available right downstairs at the little cafe, with friendly service too and only 4€. Best orange juice ever! We would definitely stay again.

L’hôtel nous a attribué un appartement en sous sol avec plein de cafards à la sdb et dans la chambre.
Puis les escaliers n’étaient pas sécurisés pour les enfants.

Et le pire c’est qu’ils m’ont prélevé la caution de 350€ alors que nous avons rendu le lieu dans un parfait état.

Je dois maintenant faire toute une procédure pour demander la restitution de cette caution.

Very rude guy at the front desk, the apartment isn’t suitable for a family with small kids. Everything is open so there is no privacy to change if the bathroom is occupied. No locks on bathroom just sliding door.
Area is okay it was easy to take the bus from there.

Bra läge men vi hade inte valt detta boende igen.

Stort fint rum men tyvärr inte avdelat som bilder och beskrivning. Trasig bäddsoffa som vi påpekade första dagen men inte fick åtgärdat. Dessutom stopp i avloppen så det blev bara snabbduschar. Bra städat. Väldigt lyhört precis som andra beskrivet. Men väldigt bra läge i stan.
