This was a large and beautiful property, overlooking the Bay of Naples. The food was all made with ingredients from the property and was delicious. We felt very lucky to have such a quiet space to enjoy on the Amalfi Coast!

We really enjoyed our time here, the property was great. The private beach is gorgeous and we enjoyed walking through the olive grove. It is a bit of a hassle to get to the main town area in Sorrento, but the hotel did offer a free shuttle a few times everyday so that was nice. The room was really nice and the restaurants at the property were great.

A really special place. Great to wander around the grounds, the private beach was incredible and the whole team were fantastically helpful. The food at both the beach bar and restaurant was absolutely delicious. Central Sorrento is just a short cab/shuttle ride away, but we actually didn’t want to leave at all during our stay! We just wanted to soak up this absolutely beautiful property - perfect!

We really enjoyed our time at this hotel. We were traveling from Rome to Naples via train then rented a car and drove to the hotel/Sorrento. Having a car is good around Sorrento. The shuttle was new. Many of the other reviews said it was old, so they must have gotten a new one. We took a taxi back from Sorrento to hotel with no problem.

Great Private Getaway

Really unique place, located on its own olive plantation, with its own private beach. Not walking distance to the main sights of Sorento, but a quick taxi cab ride away. The staff was very helpful. Our room was spacious, with fantastic views. The on-site restaurant was great and there were friendly, resident cats who joined us during meals. Highly recommended!

The place is set among beautiful lemon and olive gardens, natural, quiet with spectacular views. Beach is small and private, stony but wonderful considering the whole coast in the area lacks sandy shores. Staff is exceptional, food is great quality and we didn’t really feel the need to go anywhere else. Rooms are specious and decorated with taste. For going around, though, a car is recommended as taxis are overpriced and public transportation is not very convenient. Would definitely return.

Sorrento Rejuvenation Oasis with Beach

Amazing place to stay. 20 acres of olive and lemon trees,private beach,huge apartment, golf cart help, lovely caring staff, great food on property. I will return. Free shuttle in cool Fiat(?) minivan,15 minutes to central Sorrento central. Call from train station to get the cabdriver who delivers you to their door. Other cabs refuse to drive to the door. Oasis from crowds, cigarettes, Italians smoke everywhere (ugh), noise, scooters etc. Yoga retreats here, food options available. We were there before outdoor restaurant opens. Lovely cafe at private beach. Steep steps to beach. Homade limoncello and more! Truly a retreat Italian style. Highly recommend for rejuvenation on your Italian grand tour.

The rooms are huge and the views beautiful! The customer service at the front desk was exceptional also. They went out of their way to help us with arranging transportation, etc. This is not a downtown hotel where you can just walk to shopping areas, but just a few minutes in a taxi or their shuttle. I would recommend it highly.

We stayed 8 nights at the Relais Regina Giovanna as part of our Honeymoon in October 2018.
All of the staff were so friendly, they almost felt like a family! We were greeted by Lorenzo who was so informative and helpful on check-in. We were also greeted with a chilled bottle of prosecco in our room, which we enjoyed on the roof terrace, which overlooked the sea. The weather was fantastic for October so we were able to wander down to the private beach, although the public area a little further along had the best of the sun.
Our room was really spacious for a classic room and the wooden beams gave it a lot of character. Only slight downside to our room, was that you could hear noise from some of the other rooms (tiled floor and heavy doors sometimes slammed). There was a larger party of students staying near us that were noisy one of the 8 nights we stayed.
The location is about a 5-10 minute drive from Sorrento (30 minute walk but no pavement), but the free shuttle service worked fine for getting into Sorrento for day trips (by bus, train or boat) and the line A bus also runs until about 10pm. The distance from the centre is more than compensated by the idyllic setting of the hotel with a sea view!
Restaurant is convenient and the menu changes daily, so we ate there three times. Luigi was the waiter who served us each time and was very attentive. Eating at the hotel was maybe a bit more expensive than eating in Sorrento itself, but the menu was higher end and great quality.

Beautiful hotel in Sorrento

Relais Regina Giovanna is a beautiful hotel, with very friendly staff who will do anything they can to please you. The breakfast was delicious every day, with a buffet continental breakfast and hot dishes (such as eggs and bacon) that could be ordered. We also had dinner one night which was equally delicious, and very reasonably priced. The hotel's private beach adds a nice touch, with the beach bar open for drinks and light lunch. We hired a car on our trip as we wanted to travel around a bit, but the hotel has a transfer that regularly go into and out of Sorrento that we used a few times. An amazing stay, would definitely recommend to others and will definitely be going back. Thank you!!

Only complaint would be our room being from Canada we did not enjoy a room with two tiny windows. We traveled along distance to stay at a location near the water and were very disappointed with no view an no windows. We stayed 5 days which was ample time for them to relocate us too a room with a window

The staff was extremely helpful... they drove us to the main square to recommending restaurants. Our experience at this lovely estate more than exceeded our expectations. It was a wondeful place to start our trek down the Almafi coast.
The grounds are covered with olive and lemon trees, and it’s truly an oasis from the busy streets of Sorento.
Our room was light and airy, with an amazing sea view. The breakfast was delicious and only enhanced wirh the attentive staff that included Luigi and Inma. We ate dinner at the hotel each night since we knew it was guaranteed to be an excellent meal.
We were warmly received by Miguele and Antonio who quickly attended to our needs and questions. Most of the staff spoke English and they were quick to help and guide us.
This hotel has been the highlight of our Italian vacation and we highly recommend Relais Regina Giovanna to add to your itinerary.

This hotel is a truly special, memorable place. The grounds are indescribably beautiful. The staff is beyond friendly and helpful. The onsite bar and restaurant are great. The private beach is quaint. This is the type of place that we will remember for the rest of our lives.
The one heads up that I would give is that it is quite a bit of a way out the peninsula from the town of Sorrento. The hotel has a shuttle service, but it runs by appointment at a handful of set times during the day, so you cannot take the shuttle into town for dinner, for instance. I would definitely stay here again and again, but I would rent a car next time.

This is the place to stay if you want to escape the craziness of downtown Sorrento! At least 25 acres of trees, flowers, vegetable gardens and landscape to get lost in. Truly gorgeous!!!! No sandy beach but you won't miss it.

Very nice breakfast spread and excellent staff. Free shuttle to train station of downtown Sorrento. Shuttle bus is not a 5 star but it is certainly \"groovy\". If you need to take a cab/taxi, the meter will run you about 30 Euros.

Great Hotel and Private Beach

Probably the nicest hotel we have ever stayed at!

True authentic italian experience!
The accomodations are in a newly renovated but 300 year old stunning villa. Views to all directions look like a painting. At times you can literally feel yourself being taken back to eras before and walk the foot steps of ancient romans.
Amazing breakfast in house to start the day and then one of the most romantic settings at night for dinner. Food is fresh, local, and right from the garden.
50 acres of property for you to explore and all staff make you feel at home.
Top experience though has to be the private beach. Fully stocked bar and lunch items available while you drift the day away with capri in the far distance. So relaxing. So romantic. So perfect. If it werent so far away from our home we would be back yearly. Plan for a stay 3-5 days as our 2 night stay left us wanting more!! Thank you Relais Regina for being the highlight of our european honeymoon!!

If you want a home from home, lovely welcoming staff, space, peace and a glorious setting then Regina Giovanni is for you.

Set outside of the hustle and bustle of Sorrento but easy 10 minute drive for when you want it in the evening or trips from the port to Capri Amalfi etc

The private beach is glorious the suites are spacious cool and clean. An oasis of tranquility.

Looking oking forward to returning and trying their sister hotel on Capri.

The private beach is a must, it's a beautiful quiet little beach with all you need. The location is good, 20 min walk from the city center however it is not easy to walk to the center as this is quite a busy road with no sidewalk..

A fantastic hotel and park in Sorrento

This's is one of the most unusual hotel properties in Sorrento that I've experienced. The grounds are a national reserve with hundreds of lemon and olive trees on its land as well as a few Roman ruins. The hotel is gated and set back from the city - very pleasant and very quiet. The very small number of rooms are all well appointed (I was traveling with a family of ten people). The breakfasts were extensive and one dinner was set outside in the gardens. An 80ft path led to a small portion of the hotel in from of the ocean with access to swimming and kyacking. There is no elvevator in the hotel, but the staff were always helpful in moving bags about on reception and departure. It was a great hotel taking care of a treasure of a site. I will stay again if I ever have the opportunity to return yet again to Sorrento. I highly recommend the hotel - I'm glad I did the research!

This hotel is an out of the way delight. About a 10 minute drive into Sorrento, you are surrounded by the gorgeous olive and lemon groves, from which the hotel/farm makes its own limoncello and olive oil. Wonderful. The private beach is in a secluded cove. Just lovely. Recommend the hotel stay for couples and the apartments for families. There are Roman ruins on the property that you can find too.

Peace and quiet close to Sorrento

Relais Reginna Giovanna is a small hotel located on Sorrento Capo about 3km outside of Sorrento, in Southern Italy. It is a charming villa that has 12 bed rooms, simple comforts, attentive, friendly staff. The property sits in 50 acres of lemon, lime and olive groves, with its own private beach (Caletta) complete with sunbeds and beach club and also a life guard. the beach was pebblely and clean.

Hotel for all nationalities.

The hotel is set in olive groves amongst lemon trees with history going back to Roman times (Regina Giovanna).

The staff were unobtrusive yet friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. In fact the staff were a large part of the enjoyment.

The food was varied to suit all tastes.

The views over the bay and the private beach were outstanding. Garden with hammocks. Best holiday ever!

Pricey accommodation for so few amenities

The room (#9) we were given for my family of four was very large. But, having stayed in multiple hotels in Italy this is not one I would return to. The beds were hard - especially the rollaway. While the room was nicely furnished it was not clean - the floor was filthy, there was dust and dirt on the bed sheets and the shower had mold in the grout. The included breakfast was pitiful - we had breakfast included at the other hotels we stayed at on this trip and they were amazing compared to this. We stayed at another hotel in Sorrento during this trip and for more than half the price of this we had an immaculate room, pool, wonderful breakfast buffet and free trolley into town.

We checked in and we were given an excellent room. The staff was very accommodating especially Rosa and Giuseppe and they made us feel at home. The longer we stayed the more we fell in love with the location. We met wonderful people and we would definitely recommend this hotel to our friends and family.

Good but a huge missed opportunity to be great

The Relais Regina Giovanna was a beautiful hotel, wonderful staff and great breakfast BUT it was a missed opportunity to be great and secure our return. It no longer provides a restaurant service at lunch or evenings, a bar but no service, beautiful grounds with a lemongrove with cantilever parasols which don't work and a private beach which is entered through what looks like an old sewer- charge 2€ for a small water, no snacks, parasols etc. we didn't go back. There was nothing to tie you to the hotel at all. It's pretty inaccessible without a car and driving into Sorrento in high season is a licence to crash into a scooter hurtling at you head on as he is overtaking a lorry on a blind bend, costs a fortune to park your car if you have the fortune to find a spot and then battle the thongs of package holidaymakers to get ripped off in the restaurants. Had RRG served the wonderful food the manager told us that they used to we would have stayed, picnicked in the lemon grove, frequented the bar talking to the guests who because of the set up saw fleetingly at breakfast and watch the magnificent sunset from the terrace (had there been some lovely seating to do so rather than a couple of naff plastic tables and chairs). All in all it no doubt was a lovely place that could be a wonderfully amazing place, very romantic with wonderful food- the staff Rosa, Michele and Pepe where the best I have encountered in Italy! However we wouldn't go back!

A remote B&B

A car is essential as the \"hotel\" is down a steep ,narrow and rough track. The access to and from the main road is very dangerous. Coming from teh south sat nav will take you down a road that is impassable to motor vehicled (too narrow). The second option is to take teh next left but that is too dangerous to turn into as you cannot do a left turn in one movement and it is a busy main road that you are exiting from and your vision is impaired in both directions due to it being a very twisty road.The property has been converted well apart from the electrics. Numerous switches in the bedroom - not sure what some of them did, if anything, and the wall-mounted bedside light was hanging-off the wall. No mirror in bedroom, so hairdrying had to be done in steamy bathroom. Breakfast was very limited in choice and you had to be early as what was set-out was not replenished. The staff tried hard but the establishement either needs more investment to make the necessary improvements or they should re-market it as what it currently is a 1 or 2 star B&B.

The hotel is lovely, clean and comfortable. The rooms are large and individual with great views. The little private shingle beach in the alcove is a delight although the abandoned building you have to pass through to get there wasn't!
The staff were also friendly and helpful.

Be warned though. It's not an ideal place to stay if you don't have your own transport. We were informed on check-in that the hotel only offered breakfast! No lunch, no dinner and the small bar appeared to have been long abandoned!
This left us with a 15 minute walk from the hotel to nearest cafe, shop or the bus stop into town. The walk was even longer from the beach.

All in all it's a lovely place amid olive and lemon groves. More a glorified B&B than a four star hotel

The hotel does not have balconies at all!
The hotel's private beach is beautiful but the sun beds and the water are dirty.
The service was OK, depending on the person giving it.
The towels and slippers were a little stained.
We reserved a room with balcony and sea view but got neigther.
Nevertheless, the room was spacious, and the small distance from sorrento is actually good if you don't like the noise and you have a car.

Most Romantic Place

Relais Regina Giovanna was the most romantic place we have ever stayed! I cannot say enough about the engaging staff and the panoramic views from our room. We hiked every day down to the private (very secluded) beach. It was all our own. And we hiked the olive/lemon grove trails up the the cliff overlooking Capri, Naples and Mt. Vesuvius every day, too. The room was clean, and quiet. Breakfast was included - bruschetta every morning yummy, and we dined in the hotel at night with delicious meals. This hotel sits in a large wooded grove in the side of the Almafi Coast. It is out of town about 1 1/2 miles. We drove to town each day for tours, boats to Capri and Naples and drove to Pompeii. The hairpin curves were a little scary, motorcycles everywhere and no stop signs or lights...but, we did fine with that. We will go back to RRG anytime we get the chance. I might say it would be a perfect place for an engagement or a honeymoon...or in our case an anniversary! Loved this hotel!

We were given an \"apartment\" not a superior double bedroom. The bedrooms looked wonderful online and this is what we had expected. The apartment was in another building someway from the main hotel. The bedroom was extremely small, with very little space to get around the bed. The bedroom window being the only window in the apartment. The view from this one window was very poor.
We ate at the hotel on our first night, but we did not do so again as the food was expensive, very basic and of poor quality. Two courses and half a bottle of wine cost 88 Euros. We ate at various other venues during the rest of our stay and the food was far superior and cheaper.
Be prepared for a narrow steep track to the hotel and the track to the annex was unmade and very rough in parts.
The private beach was very small and approached by a longish slope followed by 99 steps, into a partially completed building, then out on to the pepple and rocky beach. This in our opinion was not worth the effort.
Having said all this the hotel is in a very relaxing environment amoung the olive and citrus trees.
The hotel is beautifully furnished and well appointed. Our bathroom was in fact almost as big as our bedroom.
There is nowhere to eat within walking distance, especially when you have to negotiate the steep entrance tracks, you therefore definitely need a car.

a lovely experience

We were delighted with our 4 nights here. On the cape as you leave Sorrento toward the south (Capo Sorrento), this is a great place to stay if you're traveling by car, partly for the secure and free parking at this gated lemon farm property. You have access to an amazing beach cove, and as it's rustic with pebbles, not sand, bring water sandals. Our 2-level apartment was spacious and comfortable, with tasteful decor that fit the setting of the lemon orchard we looked out onto. This is a relaxing place & mostly quiet but expect some traffic sounds from road above. You can reserve to have dinner here & the menu features fresh, local ingredients. The unobtrusive professionalism of the dining hostess contributed to the graciousness of the dining experience. She also oversees the cold breakfast buffets, and the pastries were our favorites of our 3-week trip through Italy. (It turns out that the dinner chef is also the pastry chef!) The RRG was our base while day-touring the Napoli and Amalfi coasts. In the mornings we took the hotel's courtesy van into Sorrento, walked to the train station and took the easy-to-use commuter system to Pompeii and Naples. To avoid the infamous stress of driving Amalfi coast we took a local bus (across from the train station) that you can get on and off to see the towns you wish. In the eves take a taxi the 2 km. from Sorrento back to RRG (obscure bus/ticket option from town, or walking narrow road are possible but not for most).

Das Personal war sehr zuvorkommend und nett. Leider war unser Zimmer nicht sauber, wir hatten überall auf dem Boden lange schwarze Haare, vor allem im Bad…. Zudem ist unsere Klima immer wieder ausgefallen, auch Nachts mit ca. 32C.
Ich finde nicht das der Preis gerechtfertigt ist.

Four night stay at Relais Giovani Sorrento

The actual conditions of the properties are not as advertised. The management should have regulations with stay in guests, not making noise. We understand it is an eco place.however it seemed you do not have manpower to clear and arrange it in neat way. Unfortunately xit should be a gem in the region.
