Jebbie seemed bothered when we checked in. After attempting to leave the parking lot, I had to go back into figure out why I was going to have to pay twenty dollars. She came out with food all over her face, crumpled my ticket and then gave me the parking pass she should have given me when I checked in.

Breakfast was fantastic as was the coffee machine.

This was a very convenient place to stay for its proximity to the airport and timely 24 hour shuttle service to and from Newark airport. Our flight arrived late (after midnight) yet we were able to catch the airport’s Airtrain bus link to the shuttle pick up. It truly is less than 5 mins from the airport. Room stay/sleep/bathroom were good. Breakfast was good. Shuttle left on the half hour like clockwork. The drivers were friendly, safe, and efficient. Got back to the airport the next morning to rent a car (same place where shuttle drop off was so that was convenient.) overall, a very positive experience that saved us time and money. Thank you!

After waiting for 45 minutes for the hotel shuttle, and seeing multiple shuttles from multiple hotels stopping, I called the hotel. I was told that the shuttle was not running. The availability of the free shuttle (every 30 minutes, 24 hours a day) was one of the major reasons I selected this hotel and the hotel had sent a text message the day before my arrival confirming that the shuttle runs every 30 minutes, 24 hours a day. The following day, the hotel shuttle was still not running.
This meant that I had to spend $60 in Uber fees and wasted 45 minutes of my time waiting in the freezing temperatures.
The hotel receptionist said she could not offer a refund for the Uber fees, but gave me the General Manager's email. I wrote to the GM complaining and requesting a refund for the Uber fees, but did not receive a replay.
I am therefore requesting a refund from Expedia.

In particular one of the desk clerks, George was nothing short of stellar with us and all guests there. He was friendly, patient and very helpful to everyone. Possibly he was one of the best hotel clerks I have ever dealt with

The only downside was that the Hotel WiFi was not working on the 5th floor where we were staying and we had to use our own data plan at a premium to get some work done

Check in person about the worst in all our years of travel - after waiting several minutes for someone to show up at 9:30 pm which we'd indicated in advane we politely said \" hello? hello\". She appeared chewing food with mouth open and a scowl..our greeting was \" name?\"..couldn't find altho we ended up spelling it twice ( 5 letter name) with a conf in hand. Finally found it , handed us the key and pointed to the elevator.
There was a huge cleaning cart in lobby and empty cookie plate ( except for the crumbs...ugh) to also \" greet us.
Nice young woman at check out in a.m. and the included brkfst buffet & on time airport shuttle made it a bit better. Know \" hospitality \" a hard profession but that part needs help!

I had a great stay here when my flight was cancelled due to a snowstorm. They have free hot coffee and tea in the lobby, and it was easy to have some food delivered from one of the many nearby restaurants. Room was clean and quiet. Had a relaxing hot bath. Nice breakfast buffet in the morning. Scrambled eggs, waffles, fried potatoes, yogurt. My one frustration was finding the shuttle to the hotel, and no one answered the phone when I tried to call the hotel to ask. The shuttle goes to the Airtrain station P3, and getting from the hotel to my terminal did take a while. So give yourself plenty of time if you're going to use the shuttle.

I was assigned a room where the internet didn't work and the entire hallway was freezing because the air conditioning was on despite it being about 20 degrees. Multiple times I came down to front desk to see if they could help with the internet and she told me there was nothing she could do. I asked to be moved to another room and she said No The next day the front desk associate moved me to another room. Without internet, I couldn't order food, book my flight, return emails and calls. It was awful.

Though the room itself was just fine, the customer service from the front desk was deplorable. Our flight was delayed, so I called several times to ensure we were going to right place to catch the airport shuttle. The front desk staff couldn't be bothered to help me, only kept repeating over and over \"the shuttle comes twice per hour. Just wait.\" The shuttle never arrived at P3 and we were stuck outdoors in 5 degrees for nearly an hour before we finally just chose to pay up the nose for a cab at after-hour prices rather than freeze. When we got to the hotel, this same staff person continued to be rude, refused eye contact, and wouldn't explain where the shuttle was. It was nearly 2am before we finally got to our room. The lack of customer service was shocking.

I will not book this hotel again. While they are right next to an international airport the services they offer could be described as lacking.

There is no restaurant on premises, so you can’t really order food from the hotel. There’s no shop where you can get a bag of peanuts or a bottle of water or essentials, like let’s say a toothbrush. There are vending machines which are half full. There isn’t anything really within a short walking distance. If you want food you can order from local restaurants, which seem to have lowest Yelp rating possible. The hotel does serve breakfast, but they only start at 6 am so if you are flying out on an early flight you are out of luck. It is just a below average service here.

A lady at the front desk acted like she did me a huge favor by answering my question about their shuttle service and in general acted like I was interrupting her magnificent performance of a exquisite brain surgery she was conducting in the backroom before I rudely interrupted.

Right from the get-go it was the staff!!!! I was traveling with my 7 year old grandson for the night from central New York. He was traveling back to Texas as an unaccompanied minor the following morning. When I called my son to have him transfer the security deposit money, we agreed that he would pay for me having to bring his son to Newark from central NY for him, which he was all set to do. The gentleman working the front desk registering heard me talking to my son on the phone and told me not to worry about the security deposit. That he trusted we wouldn't do any damage. It was 10:30pm at night and we would be leaving to go to that airport at 6am. I was ready to pay. But what this man did though was amazing!!! The bed was soft and cozy. I slept all night through, which is rare when I stay at a hotel. There was a free shuttle bus to the airport which runs every 30 minutes. I was able to use the shuttle getting to the airport with my grandson and once he was in the sky I was able to get a shuttle back to the hotel. It saved me so much stress by not having to drive my own vehicle and have to worry about parking at an unfamiliar airport. This was the first time my grandson traveled by himself and it won't be his last. I will continue to use this same hotel on spring st going forward every visit 😊

The room was dirty and smelled and the carpet was sticky. There was a loud creepy African religious event going on and people were screaming and running around the hotel barefoot. There was no breakfast left by 9:00 and the shampoo and lotion and conditioner and soap are in Dove bottles but I have Dove products and I compared them and there is no way they are actually Dove. Staff was dismissive and seemed irritated just to check us in

I did not choose other hotel options because they did not offer breakfast. However, the breakfast at this hotel was unfortunately insufficient. For example, cream cheese was available on some days but not on others. Items such as eggs and bread were very limited and often ran out.

During the holiday period, the hotel was very crowded. The toaster was very small, so people had to wait in line. When I asked for hot water for tea, I was told that the machine was broken. Some of the staff in the breakfast area and some of the drivers were really rude.

The room was clean, and I had no issues with that. However, overall, I was not satisfied with the service quality. I did not leave the hotel happy and would not choose this hotel again.

My flight and many others’ flights were cancelled because of the weather, thus a rush for hotel rooms. I booked online based on price and experience with the brand. Room was clean and all one could want or need. Breakfast was very good. However, there was only one person on the desk checking in and she was a bit frazzelled and “remote” , technically complete with instructions and information BUT SHE WAS OVERWORKED. Also, the pickup shuttle from the airport did not arrive, I phoned and the desk person said “he on his way” . He wasn’t. Finally another hotel’s shuttle took pity on me and two others, that shuttle had seen me twice waiting for Holiday Inn Express and took us all in that hotel’s shuttle. He was very kind. I am 82 yr old, it was now dark and cold, and thus I was most grateful. (The early next morning shuttle was perfect.). But again, the problem was there was not enough staff to cope with the results of the flight cancellations, the hotel itself was fine.

When I first arrived, the woman at the counter was very rude. I asked for my bags to be left, which she said there is absolutely no room. I asked her what should I do since I cannot take my bags to the football game, she said well you can check if you want. When she opened the the storage close not only did my luggage fit, ypu could fit at least three more suitcases! When I said thank you as I left she gave a \"hmmpph\" response. When I checked in later the new person at the counter was very kind.

Air conditioning was not good, called twice to confirm room since booking through Expedia and when speaking with the hotel, one person told me free early check-in and another person told me $40 fee for early check-in when I got there I had to pay for an extra night. The areas of the hotel felt unsafe. Lyft drivers told us to stay in the hotel unless you go somewhere safer. The only good part about the breakfast was the fruit. We only had good interactions with one lady at the counter and the very convenient airport Shuttle, driver was nice.

We have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Newark Airport Elizabeth by IHG numerous times. Check-in during this visit was very easy, and the staff member was pleasant and professional, as always.

While we were able to book the room at a good price, there were a few concerns this time. In Room 409, there were noticeable mold spots around the top of the tub, and the bathroom door did not close properly unless pulled very hard. Unfortunately, these issues made the stay less comfortable and leave us unsure if we would choose to stay here again.

On a positive note, the bed was very comfortable, and the air conditioning/heating worked well. Breakfast was okay—the powdered eggs were not great, but the sausage, fruit, bread, and yogurt were good. Checkout was quick and easy; we simply dropped our room keys in the red basket.

Overall, this stay was a mix of positives and concerns, with cleanliness being the main issue that impacted our experience.
