The room's decorative pillows smelled awful, the skirt on the bed was stained and dirty. Additionally, the room did not have coffee or tea, ice bucket, glasses or cups to drink water, and no iron. When I went to get ice from the ice machine, there were no ice buckets in the ice machine room, but the room had washing machines and dryers.

I went to reception desks and asked if the Robert Treat is a welfare hotel? They said no. I did not pay close $230 for a room that did not have any of the above mentioned amenities.

They only clean half way not entirely , they come to make the beds but don't collect trash which leads to my next issue because I don't mind cleaning up after myself
No trash can in our room.
Food spoiled because fridge didn't want even though it was pulled up.
Iron was missing and when asked if they can bring one no one ever did.
Cracks in the ceilings unnoticeable at first.
Biggest one of all no batteries in the smoke detector and I only know this because it fell off the wall and almost hit me.

The hotel is beautiful but they could do better alot better with the rooms and how things work there. I seen no bugs the staff were nice but seemed to be in their own world. Room feels incomplete is the best way I can describe it. Our room was 444$ and this is what we get spoiled food and a half clean room with a fire risk

The first room I got was completely awful, had a smell , towels were on the ground toilet seat was up , hair all over the bed , table was dirty , I was super turned off but it was late I didn’t have a choice I had to stay , I immediately called the front desk to be moved got moved to another room , the toilet paper roll was pretty much finished no new ones in site to replace it , had to call numerous times for towels , some of pillows weren’t even actual pillows it was like throw pillows you’d put on your couch , the only positive experience was the security and the airport shuttle at 430 am !

The rooms are cold and nice and the windows open up. Parking is $27 at the hotel go around to the parking garage it’s $18. We saw a roach. The plumbing is awful the water literally backs up so you’re standing in it. A lot of things are under maintenance at the moment. It’s a very nice sleep the beds are very comfortable! It’s only cable no smart tvs! But you get what you pay for! Overall a nice stay the staff was helpful but I’m 100% sure one of the housekeepers stole my good bombshell Victoria Secret bra!!!!

The hotel is old. It has a magnificent history, but it seems to be relying on that more than keeping things top-notch. It looks good and the room was fine, but it has the feeling of not taking care of itself. Wall have gouges in them. The bedding feels like it has been slept on too many times by very heavy people. I changed sides of the bed to get some more support. One of the garbage cans was not emptied. The furniture is pushed up against the wall giving the impression that ease of cleaning is more important that customer impression. But it was reasonably priced and exactly where I needed to stay. I would stay there again, if I needed that location.

After checking in, I was given a room that had clearly not been cleaned after the previous guest. I returned to the front desk and showed the staff photos. So they moved me to another room.

Unfortunately, the second room also had trash left in the trash can, which made me question the hotel’s housekeeping standards. I did not want to go back to the front desk again, so I stayed for the night and moved on with my trip the next morning.

There is also no breakfast restaurant on the property. My room was near the ice machine and laundry room, and I could hear noise from the hallway after midnight, which woke me up.

The front desk staff was helpful when I raised the issue, but the cleanliness and noise problems made the stay disappointing.

The reservation I had included a refrigerator and we did not receive it until the last night of our stay. We lost our leftovers for two of the nights. I called 7 times and went to the desk twice before they finally brought it. Every time they promised they were on the way with it including the second night when we stayed up til midnight waiting for the promised item. When asking about receiving compensation for the inconvenience and loss of food no one there ever could do anything. I needed to speak to a manager, so far I haven’t been able to even get one even on the phone. The parking was also a nightmare, you pay $23 a night (on top of the room price) but they clearly don’t keep count of how many people are using it because two nights many cars were double parked making it very hard to navigate and certainly not allowing confidence that your car would not be hit or dinged. Overall the hotel itself was nice and clean and M-F the deli inside the hotel will deliver the food to your room. The food and coffee were good. The hotel is also located in a great spot for getting around or ordering food. Based on customer service however I would hesitate to stay here again.

When we arrived staff were courteous and explained everything that we needed to know and explained that there was a film set in hotel with shooting ongoing always answered any query we had wether it was during the day or even late in evening/early morning security staff as well were excellent as someone who doesn’t sleep much they provided chat no matter what time of day or night . One downside was no breakfast in this hotel although informed we could go to sister hotel around the corner I felt that it would have been better with breakfast being available

On the positive side the price was good by comparison with other options in the area. However the hotel is quite shabby and feels like there has been no investment for a while. The bedroom itself was clean enough, as was the bathroom, but the blinds on the window were ripped, and the wardrobe had no clothes hangers. Staff were not unfriendly, but didn't exactly show any enthusiasm. At check-in you just get your key card and directed to the elevator - there was no mention of breakfast being in the next door hotel, that there was a shop, that there was an airport shuttle (which I could not get an answer about before I arrived). There was an advertised top floor open space that looked like a bomb site.

The hotel was clean and pretty convenient to where we needed to be. The shuttle was a nice feature. But the service was not great. We had to call the front desk 3 times to get a roll of toilet paper. The first time they said the housekeeping staff was not in yet and would be there in 30 minutes. 45 minutes later we called and talked to a different person who did not know of our request. Another 45 minutes later, we talked to a 3rd person who finally sent someone up. Just poor service.

I've stayed at the Robert Treat Hotel for my last five trips to NYC, and I've always had a great experience. The rooms are clean, the staff is friendly, and the location works perfectly for us.

I travel with a handicapped family member, so we drive into the city instead of taking the train. The drive is easy, and parking is only about $23 a night, which is hard to beat.

The little store in the hotel has saved me more than once when I forgot something, and the restaurant food is really good. At this point, staying here has become part of our trip. We'll definitely be back.

When we first arrived, we were given a room that smelled like smoke. It is a non-smoking Hotel. We went back down to the desk and they gave us another room. When we reached the second room, it was occupied. Went back down again this time they sent somebody up to make sure that the room was clean and unoccupied. Room was spacious and clean. Bed was very comfortable. Dud not care for the pillows.Loved the restaurant at the hotel, Medallion. Excellent food prices were very reasonable. They had the best paella I have ever tasted . Hotel Staff was very polite and helpful even though we encountered a few bumps upon arrival.

The entire lobby and hotel reaks of weed. There was no iron or board in the room at all. The entire toilet was leaking around the bathroom. There was only one working elevator when we checked out. The key card quit working completely on day 2.

However, shuttle driver is the highlight of the property !!

Though there were exceptions, the people at the desk were misleading and unhelpful.

We were not allowed to park in the hotel parking lot because we arrived earlier than check in time, which required an extra expense, and a big inconvenience as we had to carry our bags to the parking lot assigned. On checking out, we were misled about how the lot we were supposed to use was to be paid.

When we checked out, we needed to get our bags from out of storage and had to wait until a security person arrived -- that person didn't, and then the desk person finally was willing to get our luggage when another guest was checking in.

The toilet paper roll in the room when we arrived was nearly empty (though there was another roll available.)

The air condiioning was set on celsius, which was confusing (New Jersey is pretty far from anyplace that uses celsius).

The machines downstairs to get beverages and snacks were confusing and defective and out of product.

We will never stay at this hotel again.

It felt like an old hotel that was glamorous in it's day, but needs updating. For example, the upolstry on the room's desk chair was shredded. Also, the cleaning staff were loudly chatting in the morning while cleaning the room. There was no ice buckett or drinking glasses in the room.

I was traveling from another city, tired, and booked a room at this hotel because it looked nice, but I couldn't sleep all night. You can hear everything from the neighboring rooms and the hallway; it seemed like they were having a party there that day, and on top of that, there was a strong smell of weed—it was awful. I had to leave at 6:30 a.m. because I couldn't stand it anymore.

Noisy - with shared doors having gaps at the bottom, you can hear every word from the adjoining room.
Door slam shut in most rooms and echo in halls.
Found the perfume smell a bit overwhelming.
No drinking cups in room nor is there a coffee maker, tho there is coffee available in lobby if you ask for pods.

The walls are thin, and I kept waking up due to noise from my neighbors. You can also clearly hear noise from outside.

The carpet felt dusty and dirty. Walking barefoot, I could feel the dust and debris. There were also cigarette burns on both the carpet and bedding. The room definitely needs more TLC.

I also highly suggest that the hotel start offering breakfast on weekends as well, not just on weekdays.

My experience during the stay was extremely disappointing. There was a strong and persistent smell of cigarettes (or something similar) that was present throughout the room and even noticeable across the floor area. Despite requesting a room change from the reception three times and clearly explaining the reason, although the room was changed, no visible action appeared to be taken to address the source of the issue.

When traveling with family, safety, comfort, and a clean environment are among the top priorities—especially when traveling with young children. Unfortunately, the response from the reception staff felt unprofessional and dismissive. Their explanation was, “we asked all guests to sign a no-smoking policy, but if someone smokes, what can we do?”

There are several other hotels in the nearby area, and based on this experience, I would recommend exploring those options before making a booking.

This Hotel, was nice . Well located, close to the train station, you can get there walking, but they have shuttle to the station, it was very helpful. Clean , beautiful decoration. The only complaint that I have is that the Lady in the from desk wasn’t very helpful, don’t give much orientations, even though we ask her some questions and when she responds she at like we supposed to know the answer, she should be nice with the customers.
Especially because every Hotels is different. On the contrary at the checkout, the other lady was very nice, I guess some people appreciate the fact that they have a job.

The accommodations were clean and the cleaning staff were very helpful and thoughtful.
The reception staff were friendly and very helpful.
Although the hotel does not have a restaurant onsite, they offer juice and coffee/tea which can be taken back to one's room. Also, there is a deli around the corner from the hotel which can be easily accessed for breakfast and from which food can be ordered for room-service for a very reasonable / inexpensive price.
The hotel was chosen because it was next door to the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC).
The hotel provides excellent airport shuttle and Penn Station NJ train service.
I would gladly stay at this hotel again.

No cup or glass in the bathroom. Had to go to front desk to get a paper cup. No hair dryer . Had to request one. TV did not work. Had to call house keeping to have someone fix it. Remote was not working either so could not watch anything. Shade got stuck and could not bring it back up. Refrigerator was not stable and had to hold it down to open the door. Carpet looked filthy. No “ do not disturb” sign available to put in door. No bathmat available the second night. Had to use a face cloth to put on the floor so wouldn’t slip.

The check in staff need to be educated on how to greet people and guide them and show them how to use the key card on the elevator. Me and 3 other guest at different times were stalled in the elevator because we were never told that you had to scan the key card in order to get to your floor. I was shown by a maintenance staff and I showed the two other guest. And they commented the same issues about the front desk staff. So be prepared to ask them which direction the elevator’s are and how to use the key card on the elevator. The security guard was awesome he helped us with our luggage to store for us since we arrived super early. The shuttle drivers were absolutely amazing gave us information on how to use the Penn Station and the early morning shuttle driver was great as well. Hotel beautiful, clean and nice historic area.

If you need reliable internet, I wouldn’t recommend staying here. Also, when I asked the staff about the airport shuttle schedule, they told me it runs every half hour during the daytime. But the next morning, when I went to the front desk with my luggage, I was told I’d have to wait an hour for the next shuttle. The drivers were friendly, though.

Parking is VERY tight. Queen Room appeared to be clean, but was very, very, VERY small. A narrow entryway + the Queen bed comprised the entire width of the room maybe 11-12 feet? The small refrigerator was hot when we arrived (we fixed it, by playing with the plug) and the carpet in front of the unit was water soaked. There were no drinking vessels (not even a paper cup) nor coffee/tea or creamers in the room. The bathroom toiletries had one tiny bar of soap, one shampoo, zero body wash, and two body creams - even though our reservation was for two adults. The toilet flushed with such velocity it splashed onto the floor. There was ONE chair. period. The room was also right beside the elevators - Maybe the reason for the narrow (15 ft? in length hallway) to the tiny area that housed a queen bed, a narrow desk and single chair. Please (Expedia) - would you kindly inform the site of the above. Their position was clear: since we booked through a third party, their hands were tied.

Let me say I was born and raised in Newark. I currently live in NC and I came back for a funeral and decided to stay at \"The Treat\" and even being a native i was mad myself for not staying there everytime I come home. Absolutely stunning!!!! Got breakfast made to order delivered to the door!! You cant find a decent bacon egg in chz in NC so that was top tier. The room gave comfy and was super clean. The parking is kinda schetchy but it worked out because we were there during the week day. I say all that to say... please please please stay here. Its definitely a vibe.

Parking should have been included with your stay but I paided an additional 118.50 for parking for my 5 night stay staff was not helpful to me I told them about my room having dirty covers and they did nothing I had to purchase some bedding to sleep on, rooms for should have had microwave in the room. Unfortunately I was catfished by the photos of this hotel. The hotel is old and in disrepair- the caters are worn down and the walls have weird stains on them. The room smelled like weed and smoke, and the iron had been taken from the closet. The tissue box was empty, and when we asked for an iron to be sent up, we never received one because the front desk never followed up with housekeeping.

The room was cold and couldn't adjust the thermostat. The driver of our shuttle, Travis, was wonderful. He told us all about Newark and the hotel. Very interesting person.

Parking is roughly $24/night and limited. Room was clean and we were allowed an early check-in which has not been typical in the past. Hotel/room overall are nice and clean however the room amenities are quite lacking (no coffee, no ironing, not even extra toilet paper, 2 sets of towels). I use it for conveniency to the Prudential Center.
