Overall it is a good hotel with good location. Swimming pool is a bit small though. I went twice, in the evening and the morning, never see any staff there, no water refill nor any safe gard, which is a bit surprising.

Nice hotel overall, stunning outlook on the lake but the hotel is very dated and needs a refurb to make it a true 5* hotel and experience. The staff are nice and overall we enjoyed our stay but the decor and facilities would need to be refurbished throughout to consider staying here again.
Overall a pleasant experience though.

Superb location, stunning views from room and reception, excellent service and facilities. Nicolas at the reception made our stay super special, with his great personality. We observed him making each guest feel valued and special. Nothing was too much trouble and a wealth of information was given to us to make the best of our short 2 night stay. Hotel was next to bus stop, and direct access to the lake side promenade too. Room was very clean, very comfortable beds, amazing shower and a fridge. Loved the shutter for windows and the awnings that cover the balcony in sunnier times.
Improvement needed: minor maintenance issue of the power plug cube being broken off its stand on one side of the bed and night stand shades need tightening. 2 coffee pods per day for 2 people in a room is not generous at all, especially when you charge Chf 4 per extra capsule.
That said, we had an outstanding stay and the only regret was we were not staying longer.

A 4.5 rating would be accurate. The room was spacious, clean and tastefully decorated. But....the bathroom seemed to need updating....fixtures seemed old and worn.

Bed was firm and linens of good quality. View from the patio overlooking Lake Geneva I'm sure would be stunning....in better weather.

Some carpeting and public areas in serious need of freshening and/or replacement.

Had dinner in the Sinatra bar and the breakfast buffet in the restaurant. Service and food were both excellent...and the areas were very nice.

Nice location, and the walk along the lake shore was beautiful.

I have stayed here in the past, and had a much nicer room facing the lake previously. I thought it was the same room from the photos on line while booking. So was a bit disappointing. Also missed the mellow music that was playing in the room on arrival last time. It's a beautiful hotel. I'll be back, but will choose the room more carefully next time.

A wonderful stay with our little toddler. Great for families. Bus stop so close and efficient. Staff are wonderful, always asking if you need anything. Only thing I would suggest to make it even better is a varied breakfast as the same thing everyday can get boring especially as it's paid for. Otherwise, views, location and staff all were 10/10

Comfortable stay but extremely noisy. We have stayed at the Royal Plaza for the last three years during Montreux Jazz but this year the noise was very much louder and we will probably stay elsewhere next year.

The Swiss Riveria is great!!

We only enjoyed a one night stay in the great hotel. Our room was large with a great view of Lake Geneva. Good location - a 10 minute walk from the train station. The staff were very friendly.

I loved this hotel and loved Montreux! It's a beautiful town (though very expensive, like all of Switzerland). The room was spacious and comfortable with a gorgeous view from the balcony and the bathroom was also spacious. The breakfast was pretty good with decent options.

This hotel is on near the end of the Montreux lake-side path so it's a long - but very pleasant - walk to Chateau de Chillon. I love walking though so that was a perk for me.

Would absolutely recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

The hotel was in a good location. Our room nice and spacious with lovely lake views! However the bed was very very hard. This may suit some people, I guess it’s down to personal preference,
On checking in to our room, realised our in room safe wasn’t working, we rang reception who sent a member of staff up in a short time, she clarified there was an error with the safe, we were told a technician would sort it the next day. This did not happen, not ideal to have no real secure place for expensive watches and passports!! Wasn’t given any apology or solution either.
The real dissatisfaction came on our last evening, when I realised we only had coffee sachets green or camomile tea, I rang reception asking for a couple of English breakfast teabags…. Our flight was very early the next morning, so wouldn’t be having breakfast which we had paid for as part of our holiday package…
Reception rang back to tell us we had used our allowance for the room and we would be charged for extra teabags!! Despite not using the coffees sugars or other condiments,, regardless we were told in a rude manner we were t entitled to a couple of teabags. I was pretty disgusted to be honest,, the male staff on shift at that time was very dismissive and unhelpful. ( not all staff were like this tbh)
So our 5 o clock start to the day was without a hot drink.. for a 5 star establishment I was very surprised at their treatment and attitude towards hotel clients. The hotel was quite unorganised and chaotic!

Our check in was simple and our room was ready around 1pm which was perfect . Our junior suite was lovely. Would have preferred a separate bedroom but did realise that junior suites normally are just bigger rooms. Balcony was great with fabulous views with the right weather over the lake. Bed was very comfortable and plenty of wardrobe space with hangers and importantly trouser & skirt hangers. Wi fi was great and a very informative desk was very useful. Very happy overall and would definitely return.

Reception staff was very hospitable and kind. I'd skip the massage. I got one and it was disappointing. Property is older but still nice. The breakfast was expensive to add on to our stay and when i looked at the spread in the morning i was so glad i didn't add it on. Just basic underwhelming stuff. Room was decent.

Old school and old building. Excellent location and views, spacious rooms, fine service. The amenities were ok. The main issue is smoking. A non smoking hotel that hands out matches in every room, what do you think it’s going to happen? If you’re a smoker it’s for you. For me it was always an exercise in opening the windows to get the smell out of the room and close them quickly when the suicidal monkey next door smoked in their balcony

I would have expected a slightly better service bearing in mind the premium paid for booking this hotel.

We had a lovely 3-night stay at the Royal Plaza Montreux. It was an easy walk from the Montreux station (also easy to get a taxi if you have a lot of luggage and don’t want to walk).
We walked to the Christmas market, which was wonderful!
It was also an easy walk to the shopping district, which had tons of shopping and restaurants.
In addition, the bus was super easy to use, goes right by the hotel, and takes you to shopping as well as Chillon castle.
The hotel breakfast on the main floor was lovely, with plenty of options. The hot buffet on the lower level was also very good with a ton of options.
But perhaps the best thing was the gorgeous view of the lake and the mountains from the hotel lobby!

The location is perfect and they have a good underground parking facility. We felt some of the hotel was dated and that also applied to the room. The room was spacious. The staff were very good and the city is right outside the door. We did have a few drinks at the bar but it closed at 11 which seemed odd to us that guests coudlnt get a drink after 11.

I was in many 5 star hotels around the world but this hotel is not one. I was in this hotel almost 50 years ago and then it did look like a 5 star hotel. Nothing in the hotel is updated since 50 years ago. Everything is OLD, except a few paintings and lights. Carpet, curtains, closets, and many more things are dirty. I even complained about the black mold in the shower walls and no one did anything about it. This hotel at most is a 21/2 star. I was told by the manager of the hotel that owners know about the fact that hotel is old but they do not want to upgrade it.
This hotel is othing like the pictures you see online.

We were very well welcomed to the hotel by the reception staff. Our hotel room was pleasing especially the small balcony with the views of the lake and the mountains despite the ongoing building works. The breakfast selection was excellent and the dining room staff have to be mentioned because they exuded warmth and hospitality.

Unfortunately our stay was spoilt by the fact that the cleaners forgot to clean our room on two occasions on the first we had to bring it to the attention of housekeeping and only then did it get done late in the afternoon. On the second occasion our room was not cleaned at all and we were in too late to mention it to housekeeping staff so for example beds were not made but more uncomfortably bins were not emptied. When we mentioned it to housekeeping on the day we were checking out house keeping staff said that perhaps it was not done because staff were busy with other rooms and reception made a similar excuse. Whilst that may be the case it does not detract from the fact that we paid the same money for a non-service. Hate to complain because everything else was exemplary but a better system needs to be put in place so that none of your guests are neglected and all of them get the same value for money service.

A lovely hotel, super clean, air conditioning, nice hot water, modern facilities. Staff at registration spoke excellent English. Wonderful grounds with easy access to the Montreux Jazz Festival, which is why I came here. This really is a paradise with one caveat folks: they are building a massive structure literally next door. Work starts promptly at 7am and ends at 5pm. The room was so quiet I didn't hear anything. But, if I sat outdoors on my balcony I could watch them work, which was quite interesting. I had a lake view, which was pure heaven. There's a good span on the premises, and an indoor pool. I will stay here again on my next trip to Montreux!

Hotel management turnover and summer hire workers always in the industry leave repeat customers without any recognition. Everyone was nice and doing their best to accommodate customers but you beed a workable algorithm for room turnover waiting until 5pm standing in the lobby after a long flight wasn’t my idea of a good time.

The hotel has direct access onto the lakeside promenade. It's a fifteen minute walk into the town centre and about 1 hour walk to Chateau Chllon.

Needs Improvement: In one room the thermostat did not work properly and was very hot. The other rooms fan was very loud – got a headache from constant noise and needed a Motrin.

The view from the hotel if you are blessed to have a lake view room is amazing. The hotel does appear a little tired in places. The bed was firm for a side sleeper. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Not all amenities were open at the time of our stay. The bar was expensive. While the hotel is at the other end of the lake promenade from the centre, it is a nice walk and not too far.

We are travelling with a service dog. On their website it clearly states that service animals are welcome at no cost. When we checked in one of the ladies in reception was telling the man who was checking me in that I need to pay. When I questioned her she said that you are in Switzerland and the service animals ID is issued in the UK. I said so if someone is disabled in the UK does that mean that they are not in Switzerland? She was incredibly rude. After checking with her manager of course she didn’t charge us. The check in process took around 30 minutes because of this. I also spend my birthday there where I was promised something special for my birthday. Unfortunately that didn’t happen. The whole experience was very disappointing. I’ve stayed at this hotel several times before but this is the first time I felt the need to write a review. When I asked for the manager when I checked out I was told by another lady that there was no manager on site. This was not true the manager was on a break however she lead me to believe that no manager was working on Sunday. I was very disappointed with the whole experience. The staff need training on how to be polite to people and stop mentioning the obvious that we are in Switzerland!!!

Enjoy the location: Right on the lake shore, with lovely gardens outside the restaurant. There is a walking path which goes along the lake which runs right behind the hotel, with a wide variety of birds, tress, flowers, etc.
The staff are all lovely, and speak excellent English, always obliging and nothing is ever too much bother. Hotel amenities are nice, rare in Europe- spacious rooms, in room minibar fridge, large beds, bathrooms with a tub and shower, pool, hot tub, sauna, spa.
Only critique is the lack of casual dining near by. With the bar/ room service menu being small, there isn’t much close by after one meal with them. Prices are high, as is usual in Switzerland.
