Incredibly helpful staff, kind and attentive, we met 4 different members of the team and they were all great and really looked after us!
Rooms are slightly dark and dated but comfortable and clean, and nice and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the town. Overall a really enjoyable stay.

Nice room, small but efficient.

The room was compact but had everything I needed. The bed was comfortable and clean. The only quibble I had was with shower. A little more attention to the corners or maybe a recaulking job would make a nice difference.

We loved out stay at Tralala! The location is amazing and close to many transit options, both bus and train making it easy to get around. Montreux is very hilly and steep, but Tralala was in a great location in a very artistic area. The room was great, and we had a nice balcony with a view all the way down to the lake! Staff was super friendly and spoke English and gave us lots of tips and helpful advice.

One night stay on train journey. Very arty hotel service was great Room and lift are small Long steep walk from the train station but there is a 206 bus if you don’t want to pay for a cab. Breakfast was great - very cosy hotel.

It was hard to control the temperature of the room, and we got locked out of the hotel as the key card would not open the out of hours door to let us back in.
The bathroom was very overlooked by a parking lot.

The hotel was good overall. The walk up the hill from the train station was challenging with luggage. When we arrived, we waited about 20 minutes for someone to check us in. The sign at the desk advised we could call, however as we only had a data plan, we couldn’t. I walked the stairs and eventually found someone who could call the number. The small lift was helpful, and our room was big enough for a family of four. The beds were comfy, and the shower was good, though the room felt a bit dark. I read the guide when in the room and found out the hotel offers a local bus pass and a complimentary welcome drink, but neither was mentioned at check-in—we had to ask about the bus pass ourselves. Breakfast was good with plenty of options, and overall, our stay was good. A better check-in process would improve things.

Just stayed here for three nights, obviously we knew about the hill which was hard work, but we knew this, Mainly my concern was the mould in the bedroom And how the the walls were As we had commotion all night on the Friday night with drunk people starting from half 11 at night until the following morning 6 am, but this is not the hotels fault I found the staff not very helpful, And also few times wait around in the lobby for a drink and no one would come and there was no staff to be seen so give up there was a very friendly man in the morning shift He was very helpful answered any questions it is a nice hotel with the downstairs and we had cleaners in each day of Our stay which was good and fresh towels which is another good thing all in all it was average I did like it but just the mould put me off and the lack of staff Being around for help

Overpriced, read the below before book it.

The bad bits:
Bedroom is very small, the 3rd bed for my son barely fit in the room.
Internet wifi was working.
Sign of mould in bathroom.
No air conditioning.
Windows open with fan on = very noisy and bad sleep.
Plugs are hidden behind bed so if you want to charge the mobile you need to move the bed.

I booked a room with a balcony and they gave me a regular one. When you check in, you're supposed to get the right room without having to ask. After a certain hour at night there is no one at the reception, and that night there was a scandal in the rooms next door that they did not let us sleep all night and we could not do anything since there was no hotel staff. There were no food options nearby, everything was closed. To make a delivery to the room was a dare, and we had to beg for help. In the end, I don't recommend it at all.

The Tralala is a quirky little hotel in the hills above Montreux's waterfront with a music theme. The staff was super nice and accommodating, finding extra bed pillows for us and letting us check in early.

We were in room 307. Two narrow twin beds. No AC, but a fan was provided. There was a safe in the room. A shower but no tub. They had wash cloths -- a big plus for Americans! There were plenty of outlets for phones, e-readers, laptops, but bring plug converters. The room had a window, from which, if you leaned to the left, you could just espy Lake Geneva.

The location is not in the center of town. This is a plus (quiet) and a negative (a steep walk down to get to restaurants, shops, etc.). However, there is a bus stop right outside the hotel, which is great!

We did not take breakfast at the hotel, nor have a drink in the bar, so can't comment on that. One note: the hallways are a little foreboding, with painted cement walls that are a bit prison-like. But who spends a lot of time in the hallway anyway?!

We would stay here again.

Plus: position above the city so you can enjoy lake view. Located among old part of the town which is very attractive. Very clean and cosy. Bus station is just in front of the hotel entrance.
Minus: again position when it comes to reach it by walk. Walking up the hill is a bit hard. Room very small. Very hard to get unpack and then there is no garderobe closet. Room a bit noisy since it overlooks the street. Basic toiletries . No air condition.

Room reserved thru e-booking: Superior. Room given at Hotel: Standard. Hotel staff tried to make us not aware of the difference and then owners tried to reimburse only part of the difference. This is not the way we like to be treated !!

But not much else around. The communal areas were very basic. The room had no cupboard for hanging clothes - there was a small rack behind the window curtain for hanging clothes. The shower cubicle was dirty. I would have preferred a hotel in the new town centre and to walk up to just visit the old town - there wasn't much to do there.

Amazing in every way!

What an amazing room, huge, stylish and with great views of the alps. The wonderful hotel staff were very helpful, and the free tourist pass they provided saved us hundreds of euros. (50% off local travel and attractions such as the golden pass line).
I have traveled the world and stayed in countless hotels and this would be in the top 5, I firmly believe this should be at least a 4 1/2 star hotel.

Lovely hotel in the old town

Great hotel with terrific staff. My only slight complaint about my room is that I would have liked brighter lighting. Otherwise it was very comfortable.

There's a 206 bus stop just opposite the front door. Take this bus from the railway station as its a steep hike up the hill otherwise. By the way this bus just runs in a circle so there are no stops on the other side of the road if you're looking for them. If you don't have luggage it only takes about 10-15 minutes to walk up.

Don't miss Vevey, Chillon or Lausanne. All great places to visit.

This hotel is well situated close to the old town and also an easy stroll down. To the lake. Be advised however that the walk up is very steep and it would be challenging to walk from the train station although it is not very far. Hotels staff was ok, nothing beyond that. Breakfast is not included and costs an additional $17 CHF. The rooms are fairly small and there was also no Air Conditioning or any sort of minibar/ fridge in the room. The bathroom is tiny, shower only with no tub.
Fan is available in the room and the hotel and rooms are quite clean.

Affordable, but is it worth it?

The hotel is affordable, room tiny, very basic. The best way up is by the cog train leaving from train station especially if luggage is involved. Front desk not especially warm, but asked for extra pillows and electric adapter and received. Would not recommend stay during warm weather, as no AC and the only way to get minor relief from heat is to open window and window drape. Unfortunately sleep impossible as there is an outside sitting area with table and chairs at street level, very loud group partied until 2AM with smoke drifting in open window. Also very bright street light directly across from room and with open drape no way to darken room.

Beautiful rooms, spacious and with individual balconies. The view was splendid. Breakfast is not included but the main city area is ~15 minutes downhill walk. Parking is 20 francs/night but right next door. It is not cheap, but then that's Switzerland. The train to Rocher de Naye stops right behind the hotel. Montreux main station is ~15 minutes walk downhill from the hotel.

We arrived by bus at the hotel and found that the hotel is located across the road from a bus stop. The desk staff were very helpful with advice on how to get to the Chateau Chillon which was the main thing that we wanted to see in Montreux. The walkway on the lakeshore in Montreux is lovely.

A rude ending to an otherwise pleasant stay

Overall our stay was good. Room was clean, very comfortable and relatively quiet (occasional passing traffic noise), free wifi worked well. No tea/coffee in room but welcome drink on arrival was a nice touch. As previous reviews stated hotel located short walk (approx 12min) from train station, and is up some relatively steep cobbled streets. We didn't have an issue with this but there's a bus (206) from station, that will drop you outside the hotel. The hotel is located a short walk from the lake and main shopping area and there are bakeries close by.
Unfortunately our otherwise pleasant experience was soured by being intentionally locked out of our room 1hr prior to stated check out time. We returned after a pleasant morning walk to discover our key no longer worked. The lady at reception, whilst clearly knowing we had not checked out nor paid our bill, stated \"she had cancelled our card. Our hotel is full, I've given it to someone else\". She also stated, with attitude, that checkout time had already been. To clarify we provided our hotels.com booking which stated noon checkout, to which she agreed however stated on this day it was 11am due to a function. Apparently we were expected to know about this despite not being notified when checking in. Our advice to the hotel: if a change to the stipulated checkout time is expected, notify your guests so they can make plans around this.

Great Hotel in Old Town

Hotel is very clean and well kept. Staff was very friendly and accomodating. Estelle arranged a golf outing for my husband, and helped us navigate to Crans-Montana so we could attend a golf tournament there. Clara printed out some documents I needed. It's a bit of a hike up the hill from the train station, and then again every time you go into the city but we took our time and it was okay. Estelle offered us a complimentary glass of wine upon arrival, and there was a fun, crowded, after-work party on Thursday which we attended - and we were treated to some fabulous risotto! We will definitely return. Thank you Tralala for great memories!

Tralala was a good hotel. It is located in the old city part of Montreux and is 10 minute walk from the lake. The staff is friendly and nice. The breakfast is alright at an additional cost. I paid $200 per night which I think was expensive for the service. So I would not say it is worth the money but there was nothing to complain about. However, that may be the usual price for that area.

Almost a french experience

I would say that Tralala is good for what it offered, in that context of expensive Montreux. i was there for 3 nights.

We arrived after dark, and got lost trekking uphill from the train station. Not terribly far... but when you are walking uphill in the dark and uncertain where to go, with luggage in the cold, it can be daunting.

The night reception was very helpful, very friendly (this is in contrast to the day-reception, whose service was perfectly dreadful).

The room itself is basic, but big and clean ... very stylish No fridge or perks, but you can ask for a hot water kettle. My primary complaint is that at night it was too dark in the room for reading... even a basic reading lamp... and an extra foldable chair would have been useful so we didn't have to sit on the bed. And the pillows were too thin to be comfortable sleeping.

The wifi in our room was also weak. The TV only offered local stations.

It is situated high on a hill, on the edge of the old town but oh so charming with its cobble stoned streets out front and the views from the Rue du pont out over the lake. This is therefore also its weakness - the walk to town (about 15mins) is a steep downhill trek, and the trek uphill similarly steep ...

In the day, the hotel provides a pass for the free bus shuttle which stops right outside the hotel. This was very helpful , but when we were there it stops operating at 8pm.

1st Time (and 1st Night) in Europe

My wife and I had just flown into Europe for our first time and we were very pleased with the hotel. We got in late and the only bus that runs from the metro to the hotel had stopped we had to walk the 1.5km up hill with all our luggage and it was quite taxing. Once we got in we were welcomed with much-earned drinks and the staff was very friendly. They also gave us a 24hr transport card that allowed us to ride the buses for free and got us great discounts for the Chillon Castle and other tourist attractions nearby! The room was very clean and had a wonderful view. We would definitely stay here again.

Nice hotel in a quaint & quiet neighbourhood.

Nice boutique hotel in a quaint & quiet neighbourhood. Easily accessible from main train station and by bus (bus stop right in front of hotel). We got an attic room, which gave us a nice view, especially when it snowed the night before. Room was a bit dim though with no ceiling lights. The floor was quite dusty as well, showing that the room was not properly cleaned. Rooms also did not have tea/coffee making facilities, although you could request for a flask to boil water, and sugar sachets from the reception.

Some hotel staff was friendly enough but some were very unfriendly. Even when my friend apologized when his daughter started playing with a bell, she just ignored him. Overall service is not recommendable but otherwise the hotel is good.

Really friendly and striking decor! One of my Swiss friends recommended it a couple of years ago and it was often booked out. The rooms have huge photos of the most famous jazz musicians who have played in the Montreux festival over the years.

A fading song in tight quarters.

The staff was very nice and helpful. We were offered welcoming drinks!!! There was a convenient bus stop in front of the hotel and we appreciated the free local transportation and discount passes.However, the room was very pricey and VERY small, no room for suitcase rack, a closet and the shower stall was claustrophobicly tight and the curtain too short (wooden floor flooded and was stained from repeated wettings) - no space for toiletries in bathroom. No air conditioning - only a fan; kept the balcony door wide open the whole night.

Small rooms, not a great location, no breakfast

Located in Montreux old town but nothing in the surrounding area was lively... Had to go down to the lake which isn't a short walk. The walk from the train station wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't up a hill. I would not stay here again because for the price, I was very disappointed: no breakfast included, terribly tiny rooms, horrible decor (creepy picture of Phil Collins in my room with head cut off), and the wireless only worked if you stood in certain areas. The hotel was not cheap (nothing is really cheap in switzerland) but even still, we stayed at much nicer places that included breakfast and had great wifi AND were way closer to the bars/restaurants...

The staff was very helpful when the power went out.

Great welcome

We we offered a complementary glass of wine on arrival and made to feel very welcome. Although the hotel is in the old part of town the decor is modern. Our room in the attic was too small to include a wardrobe or drawers so we left everything in our cases. It was a tight squeeze for two adults. However, the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was well equipped and everything worked. We had a good night's sleep. I would happily stay at the hotel again.

it was a bit too far away from the train station, not to say we had to take all the luggages with us. the reception is good, we received an orange juice right after we arrive.

Great Overnight Spot

I thought this place was great and the price was right! The staff was really friendly, booked dinner reservations, gave suggestions of what to do at night, spoke excellent english, even came outside to help me find parking. The rooms are small so that's why I titled this review \"Great Overnight Spot\" but the hotel and rooms are very clean. The location is walking distance from town center (5 min), I drove so I am not sure how far the train station walk is. I would definitely recommend this place!

great hotel for a young travellers

the staff was friendly, but the room was overheated, had to open balcony door...there were no international plugs so i couldn't charge my phone, they don't have 24 hour reception. However, the look and feel of the hotel was very modern and chic. If I were in Montreux again, I would stay in the same hotel. And there was a furry greeter to welcome me at check in, very pleasantly surprised, cause I am a huge dog lover myself :)

Sleek, modern & comfortable hotel

Really nice hotel, very clean, soft comfortable beds, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly (especially Janna) easy to find the hotel and had a bus stop right out front. Very modern and sleek and new in decor. The only downfall I would say is that the windows are thin and if you have a room that looks out onto the main road, you will hear street noise throughout the night. But it was a great hotel otherwise.

Worth the walk

Very clean, very modern, very friendly staff and very reasonably priced compared with other Montreux hotels. It's on a charming street high on the hill, so not an easy walk, but it comes with a free bus pass and bus service is just like the trains in Switzerland--frequent and always on time. Parking in the neighborhood isn't too bad, either, if you have a car, The only thing to complain about was a misunderstanding about breakfast and tax being included. I had been told by Hotels.com that both were and I didn't have documentation to prove that they weren't, so ended up paying the extra charge.

Great welcome, friendly staff and funky atmosphere

We were welcomed with a complimentary glass of wine which was nice, and staff seemed keen to help in every way, giving us a map of Montreux and a free card for the bus during our stay. The hotel is nicely decorated with a music theme. Our room was large and extremely clean - only two criticisms - poor lighting for reading in bed (like almost all hotels in Europe - do they not read in bed across the Channel??) and a shower which just sprays down from above, not removable although a shower cap was provided. Lovely towels and even face cloths provided. We were ripped of by the taxi driver who took us all around town before charging us 17SF from the station - it would be a steep walk with heavy bags, but we walked back without difficult next day. We'd recommend this hotel as long as you don't mind not being especially near the lake (maybe 10 mins walk downhill) but for the price - never cheap in Switzerland - it was excellent value and a nice stay.

Nicely Done

The hotel itself was very nice. The bed was very comfortable, the staff very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was one of the nicest we had in Europe. There is no parking as previously mentioned. I did find a spot on the street within about 200 yards. The hotel was little challenging to find. A nice place, would definitely stay there again.

Not worth the steep rate. Uncomfortable room.

Some at front desk helpful and friendly, others not so much. Refrigerator did not work. No window shades but a huge curtain which blocked what little desk or counter space provided.
Cramped quarters. Shower stall undersized with no hand held. Electrical outlets inconvenient.
Cold breakfast OK was included but I noticed sometimes it is not. Buyer beware. News channel on TV in breakfast room with no sound so not at all useful. Waitress refused to make audible. Wake up call worked once but did not work once. Location up steep hill far from center and RR station. American guests not welcomed. Go somewhere better. Has three astericks but not three stars. Tries to be cool but fails on almost all counts.

Music themed boutique hotel, great style big rooms

Adorable music-themed boutique hotel in a gorgeous lake-side city. Tucked into the hillside and easily reachable from the train station via bus. Would be nicer to be closer to water, but being away from it made it more reasonably priced. Super cute rooms. The main room was spacious but the bathroom was tiny. Three windows with nice views and got a helpful breeze in the room. Great lobby bar. Thought for the price we paid they should have included breakfast and also had wifi throughout hotel. AS it was you had to go to the lobby to check your email.

Fun Hotel!

Don't let the location of this hotel put you off. The 206 bus stops outside of the train station and brings you right to the hotel (runs every 15 min - uphill). It was a very edgy hotel with a fun modern twist in the heart of the old Montreux. Our room was very modern with windows on 2 sides - lots of light. Great bed! We had a late dinner at the bar (complementary cocktails) and a good breakfast the next morning. We were able to walk to the Chateau de Chillon - about 15 min away - took the boat back. We would love to stay here again! Staff was very friendly!

Fantastic hotel great for families

Our family enjoyed staying at this wonderful hotel. The staff were helpful, friendly and accommodating. The rooms were beautiful and clean and the location was in the old part of town easily accessible to lake Leman area. Absolutely lovely and highly recommended.

Best hotel of the entire Swiss trip

The hotel staff particularly the night staff gave us exemplary service. Jana on the front desk did not only make us feel welcome but made it feel like a home away from home. We reached there very late and she was kind enough to research late night delivery restaurants for us and placed the order for us in French. We have never had that at any hotel before! Definitely the best hotel of our entire central Europe trip.
