It was ok! it was very lifeless with no atmosphere, it was dark in the reception area and just felt soulless. The room was very warm, I asked for a double bed and we had to twins which was not safe for my son as they was not placed against a wall. The location is amazing for the train station but you can hear the trains so it is noisy.

Helpful front desk staff, but room smelt bad on entry, had to open windows to remove this.

Windows had to be shut when time to sleep as constant very loud train noise, this continued even with the windows shut. Bad night sleep as a result.

Good location for Christmas market etc but take into account the train noise when booking.

Room smelt off, paid a lot of money but didn’t get value for money. Felt like a budget hotel, no iron in the room, safe was broken, phone line wasn’t working. Extremely hot in the room with no A/C. We arrived early, the suitcase storage room was full so staff said we need to leave suitcases in reception, bearing in mind students were walking in and out constantly it didn’t feel safe to do so, so had to carry our bags everywhere with us until check in opened. No EU/USB charging sockets. Felt very daited

The Freddie Mercury Hotel is a convenient stop in Montreux, almost adjacent to the train station. The staff are quite hospitable, and this building also houses (literally) a Hospitality School. …which is why some things were surprising. Poorly designed room with no/few outlets, weird room layout, no reading lamps, limited toiletries, no area rugs, difficult hotel layout and a very average breakfast made for a less than easy stay. We were in the “best” suite with a view of the lake and mountains and a nice balcony…but little else. The hospitality school could do a study project on this suite as far as layout and conveniences for their guests! But lots of great Freddie Mercury memorabilia and within walking distance to most everything. Montreux is a delightful city otherwise!

Very convenient location with just a few minutes walking to the train station via the platform #1. While the rail road is next to the hotel it is surprisingly very quiet inside. Breakfast was somewhat disappointed, tasteless. It was nice that the hotel offered the city pass, that was very convenient for using a public transportation completely free! We would stay there again.

This hotel is very convenient. You exit tge train and walk to the hotel on platform one. Our room was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the view of the lake and city from the terrace and were the only ones there.!!
Breakfast is not included and cost Fr.18 ($22) We chose to walk to the Migro supermarket about 8 minutes down near the lake to get our yogurt and fruit instead. The staff were very friendly and helpful from the minute of our arrival.

Not noted in the hotel description, but the front door literally opens onto platform 1 of the tain station. For those travelling by train this is a major bonus as Montreux is an extremely hilly city. Our room was on the top floor offering a great view off a large patio of Lake Geneva. Very comfy beds. Friendly and helpful staff. Easy walking distance to the waterfront for stores and restaraunts.

Nice staff at a budget stay

Very convenient location right on the train station platform. It was a very small room and sparsely appointed. (No wash cloths, 1/2 roll of toilet paper, etc.) However, we requested a fan, extra pillows, a bowl of ice, and all were promptly provided. Great service! Beautiful rooftop dining area. Would recommend for brief visits. We were there two nights.

Don’t be put off by some reviews, good location

We didn’t read reviews until after booking and so I was a bit apprehensive about the stay. We arrived quite late but fortunately hotel is at the end of Platform 1. Checked in and given a Montreux Travel Card which offer local transport/discounts etc.
plenty of Freddie photos downstairs. We were in room 321 our room was large with plenty of storage and a safe. No a/c but a fan but it wasn’t a hot night. Quiet room, bed was memory foam but I slept well. Bathroom was large and a good shower. We didn’t have breakfast as reviews had put me off.

Very new! Large rooms were very clean. Check-in awesome. Maria very helpful. Maria had a good knowledge of neighbourhood including restaurants. Very close to train station. Be sure to walk to it along the rail way platform. If you listen to Google, it takes you to the street and then you have to walk up hill.

The room was a good size but the headboard on one of the beds is detatched and kept banging off the wall. Also, the electrical outlets are blocked by that bed. It would be a problem if more than one person occupies the room.

Although my GPS took me out of the rail station and on a 7 min walk on two streets in the rain…I realized the next morning I could have walked for two minutes without ever leaving the train station. You just continue to walk towards a tall
glass building at the end of Gleis1 and there you will find yourself at the hotel. Enjoyed viewing all the old photos of Freddie Mercury in the hotel lobby. When we entered our room
and discovered one overhead light and one desk light were out, the front desk person immediately had a maintenance person
replace the bulbs while we were out to dinner. Preventing us from changing rooms….I would recommend the hotel to anyone wanting the best railway station location…so convenient. Found the staff efficient and caring.

We loved the fact that Freddie pictures were everywhere. Loved the plates and mugs and glasses with the Freddie pose. The breakfast was good and they had gluten free options for me. The bed was comfortable. The staff were lovely. My sister sent us flowers for our 50th wedding anniversary and she had to chase them up. My daughter sent loads of emails asking the staff to put fruit in our room. She never got a reply, but we appreciated that it was a training hotel and absolutely loved all the Freddie stuff. We will visit again.

Hotel tres propre. Chambre agréable et propre. Lit confortable. Proximité du bord de l'eau et de la navette ( bateau ). STATIONNEMENT interieur ( toute une experience avec l'ascenseur de voiture). Quelques restaurants à proximité, un café boulangerie tout prés .Seul bémol la gare mais assez bien insonorisé et avec le lit , on s' endort facilement.

Love the Location of this hotel, it’s right off platform 1 of the train station, super convenient. Room is spacious and clean. Bed is very comfortable. The only downside is that there’s no outlet near the bed which is inconvenient for charging the phone. Overall we had great time staying.

Ideally located for train travellers - you can access it straight from the end of platform 1. Quiet and clean with friendly and helpful staff and positioned just 2 minutes up hill from the lake, it was perfect for our needs. The only downsides for us were the breakfast (not good and extremely expensive) and the fact that our quad room had a shared balcony with another room and only 3 chairs on it.

The property was well located, very modern and in good condition. We had a room with views to the lake. The reception staff were very attentive and very willing to help. A great breakfast was available. The hotel also has laundry facilities. If you have a car book ahead for parking. The only negative was the lack of power points which made it difficult to charge accessories or use a hair dryer. Would stay again.

The location is great. You can actually walk right off Platform 1 of the train station and into the hotel. It’s a little off the main street so you do hear the train a little but better than hearing people in restaurants and such. Only a few min walk to the water and stores/cafes. The room was spacious. The staff were super friendly and the self-service laundry was a nice amenity to have.

Our room was great, with a beautiful balcony overlooking the city. We chose this location due to the proximity of the train station and the available self service laundry. The desk does not provide coins, so be sure the have some with you. I think it was 4chf for washer and about the same for the dryer. Breakfast was not included and seemed expensive even for Switzerland, we walked a block to a lovely coffee shop.

The hotel is a short walk from the train station. However, to get to the hotel you have to walk up a steep hill. If we had known this we would have gotten a taxi. The lobby was very nice. It is contemporary with a lot of Freddy Mercury photos. Check in was easy although the girl did not understand much English. Then the room...we were shocked when we walked into the room. My first thought was \"this is just a step up from a hostel.\" It is bare bones. Two twin beds, one little lamp, no dresser or closet and one outlet. (There was another outlet under the counter but I didn't feel like crawling under.) There isn't an outlet in the bathroom so to dry your hair you do it sitting on the bed. But there is no mirror in the bedroom. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable but it certainly was not what we were expecting!

The room was quite good. Cleaning was not very good. Towels weren’t replaced. Shower drain blocked due to hair in it. Kettle leaked but was replaced when requested. Had to request toilet paper after 2 days as it wasn’t replaced. Overall ok but cleanliness left a bit to be desired.

Name of hotel and location quite a draw

Easily accessible right at the end of platform 1 but guests should be informed of this prior to stay. Very slow reception staff with not much personality but reception ambience lovely with the Freddie pics & music.
Standard Room was fine on 4th floor - no view although on lake side & tap was slow to drain and drains smelt a little. Coffee machine and motorised blinds were good - no AC - very soft pillows but single beds comfy and room v spacious. Shower was excellent and nice towels. Although facing the lake, trains were noisy when window opened.
Breakfast wasn't worth it & pastries/bread not replenished fast enough even though it wasn't busy at all. Breakfast staff were more like security staff, too involved & keeping a close eye on guests, not v welcoming. The hot food consisted of chicken tenders/chicken sausages and streaky bacon - fresh eggs sitting out that you had to boil yourself. There were gluten & lactose free options though and the breakfast room was clean and spacious. Very hilly location though you can be at the lake in about 5 minutes. The Freddie memorabilia in the hotel was lovely but totally lacking in the bedroom - only his name on the runner - bare white walls. Hairdryer socket was in the mirrored cupboard in bathroom. Plug sockets plentiful beside the 2 single beds - no English channels on tv only BBC World News. Reception staff definitely need be more faster dealing with customers at check in.

We thought the proximity to the station would be ideal as we were travelling with suitcases, and whilst the noise from the trains didn't bother us it was the noise from the neighbourhood that was unbearable. There was a lot of shouting and screaming late into the night.
Up checkin we were advised that we could purchase breakfast for CHF20 or pay on the day CHF25. We elected to see first and then pay. When we arrived we were advised that the cook was too busy to cook eggs and therefore it was just a continental breakfast. That is very expensive for a continental breakfast and we decided not to stay!
Even though we reserved a double room we were originally given a twin room - normally we wouldn't object if it was a twin bed, however it was 2 single beds located on opposite sides of the room. When we complained they did change rooms but at an additional cost of CHF20 per night.
We certainly won't recommend this hotel to anyone in the future.

Some facilities are lack of maintenance and quite dusty.

Also, no air-con and quite hot even in early April. Anyway, can’t sleep well for the whole night with noise and hot room.

I love the concept of this hotel, and the idea that staff are all students in training.
The Freddie Mercury name is a big draw and I didn't find the area bad.
To avoid hills, walk along the train platform & you can use escalators/lifts.
Otherwise walk down the hills for shops/resturants in easy reach.
Great links to public transport.

The hotel misses on a few points for me, I detest carrying around something with the hotel name and my room rumber on it, this is screaming out for rooms to be robbed - with a key you don't even walk through reception. This isn't safe for me.

The rooms desperately need blackout curtains, yes it has shutters and these look lovely, however they don't block light.
I'm glad I wasn't staying in peak summer, with no air con either!

The pillows were awful, but the beds comfortable and the whole hotel was spotlessly clean.
The rooms were very basic, but I didn't mind this. I prefer this to some styles!

Lastly, the T&C's of staying, that you sign, seemed very focused on items going missing from rooms.
I was unhappy with this (it didn't seem standard) so left a 'do not disturb' sign on my room.
When I've done this in other hotels, housekeeping will generally check if you still need anything.
Even slip a card under the door, or ask you to visit reception. Here I had to ask for toilet roll and towels. Odd?

Would I stay here again? Probably not - for the above reasons. There's room for improvements for sure.

A tribute to the great Freddy Mercury, this hotel had pictures all over the lobby giving me nostalgic memories of his music.

Beyond that, the hotel is pretty new and in great condition. The staff are excellent and very helpful.

My booking through Expedia didn’t show up on their end so due to availability they could only give me a lower tier room but made up with complementary breakfast. The next night they upgraded my room and gave me complementary breakfast (reg 25CHF). Loved the customer service overall. Would highly recommend this hotel.

As an older female, and solo traveller, I found The Freddie Mercury Hotel to be very safe indeed. Conveniently located and easily accessibleat the end of the Montreux train station platform. There are shops, a small supermarket, a pharmacy, an Irish Pub, and local bus stop within minutes minutes from the hotel. And also a lift down to the lake area beside the main road.
It's a bright, spacious, modern hotel. Bright, clean, and well equipped for the traveller. I had breakfast each morning, which is buffet style, but caters for all tastes, with hot, cold, and very fresh tasty food and beverages. The dining area is always staffed, on hand if you require any assistance. The kitchen and dining area are spotless!
Beds are simply luxurious.
Staff are a joy to experience. They are genuinely friendly, helpful and informative. They made their job look effortless, regardless of the time of day, and gave each guest their full attention.

Basic!

Good location and parking - albeit complicated.
Rooms very basic - very few plugs/ no mirror to dry hair for example/ no bedside table or even a lamp or even access to light switch ! I fell at night looking for one!!
