What an excellent place to stay! The staff absolutely top notch, so helpful, friendly and very professional. Theon was spectacular and that view from the balcony was amazing. The room was clean, bed was the most comfortable I had in Switzerland, breakfast was good with a decent selection. I highly recommend staying here. It is very close to the bus line so perfect for explore the city or getting to the train station. I would definitely get a room with a balcony, you definitely won't regret it.

The view of Lake Geneva, Chateau Chillon and the Rhone Valley to Dents de Midi from our balcony room (and the hotel terrace / bar) was stunning!

Our room was spacious with tea/coffee and minibar. The quality of the bedding - mattress, pillows and duvet - was exceptional and guaranteed a good night's sleep.

Breakfast offered a good selection of hot and cold food.

The staff, supported by interns from numerous countries worldwide, were all friendly, helpful and professional in looking after us during our stay.

The centre of Montreux (for shops/restaurants), the ferry dock and the railway station were a 20 min walk away along the shore of Lake Geneva - or 5 mins by the frequent local bus.

A fantastic, memorable experience in a beautiful hotel and City.

Great hotel, amazing staff and incredible accommodations. We traveled with family and reserved 2 rooms, bot were extremely clean and had plenty of room for several suitcases. The bathrooms were spacious and had all of the basic necessities. The outside garden and closeness to the lake, makes this hotel a top notch option. The cost is very affordable and the staff is amazing. Ara was our server both at the hotel bar and at breakfast time, and she exceeded all of our expectations, she is professional, friendly and extremely helpful with providing sightseeing recommendations. The entire staff of this hotel is incredible and very pleasant. The hotel owners are very fortunate to have such a great group of professionals woerking there. Thank you for an incredible experience.

The property is gorgeous, with amazing views and great location, with lots of dining and entertainment options available close by. The cost of the room was budget friendly, and the room upgrade they offered was amazing. ALL of the staff were incredibly friendly, warm and professional at the same time. Especially Ara, our bar and breakfast server, she is a great professional and extremely welcoming. The hotel has an amazing staff overall. Kudos to the owners for their staff selection.

The property was lovely and we had a stunning view of the garden and lake from our balcony. The main patio off reception is gorgeous with seating areas and a fire - which was a bonus as it was chilly. The property is right on the promenade that takes you to the main strip. It's about a 10 minute walk along the promenade but the walk is beautiful next to the lake.

We had a fabulous stay. The hotel was just as lovely as we’d hoped - perfect lake views on the balconies and a lovely dining terrace. We chose to go half board and despite there being no choice, we enjoyed everything we were served. There was easy access to the promenade for walking and we made great use of the Montreux Riviera card on the bus (bus stop very near by) and trains. All staff were friendly and helpful, we had fantastic stay and we’d all like to return.

Careful which room!

Beautiful lobby. Wonderful staff. Fantastic breakfast with large selection. Very pretty outdoor furniture with views of the lake. Short walk on lakeside to boat for the castle.

Drawback in August there is no AC & the room was staggering hot. Our room, with a city view was so close to the train you could almost touch it. See photo of hotel sign next to train track! With church bells on the hour, no AC & many trains it was uncomfortable. Highly recommended lakeside room.

Lovely lake side hotel

Really lovely hotel with a terrace where you can admire the mountains and lake. Good sized rooms with a balcony(for lake view rooms).

Easy access via bus to the train station and the centre of town.

Bed comfortable. Small fridge with mini bar. Teas and coffee, with a little kettle in the room.

Breakfast has slight variations day to day. Good range of pastries, cakes, hot food, cold hands and cheese. The pancake maker didn't work the two mornings I tried using it, but there were plenty of other choices.

Staff friendly and helpful. Lovely little pack of cookies when we checked out.

We had a lovely stay in the golf hotel, the surrounding views of lake Geneva were beautiful, the staff was very nice, check in was very good, the staff were very helpful with letting me have the use of their socket plugs, our room comfortable, except the wall paper border of cats and mice at the top of room ,which I dislike, it would give you nightmares, other than that we had a lovely stay.

Hotel Golf Rene Capt nestles in the town of Montreux surrounded by lakes and mountains. Being in a town so steeped in the 16-17th centuries culture, most architecture of their buildings and hotels reflect accordingly. This hotel decors likewise reflect its roots but surprisingly able to maintain them well.

The location is relatively convenient, and best of all you get premium view of the lake Geneva and mountains! I have nothing to complain about as the check in and out were seamless and hotel was kept very clean. Will be staying here again when I ever visit Montreux again.

With the only ventilation being the balcony door open, we had noise from the restaurant below and constant smell from cigarette smoke (yeah I know - everyone in Europe seems to want to die of lung cancer).
We ate at the restaurant for dinner and the meals were very mediocre and of a small portion size - would rate restaurant a 5/10.

Very well located. Right on Lake. Room was 30 meters from majorrailway line. As it was not airconditioned we had to open windows to keep cool. That meant excessive noise from trains every 5 minutes. Unbearable

Friendly staff who tried to be helpful - gave us some good advice and suggestions on local activities. But also gave us a lake view room on a lower floor, so actual views were blocked by the trees between balcony and lake. Facilities are older and the years show - has a feeling of age overall, dark areas, worn carpets, etc. The room door lock was not electronic, but a key - which took a lot of fiddling with to operate (several minutes to make it open or lock on several occasions). The bathroom was smaller, with a bathtub that had very high sides - difficult to step in and out.

Breakfast buffet was excellent - large variety and good service.

The property is located right on Lake Geneva so the views from the room were terrific. Although not in the city center, it was a short bus ride to the main area. The only complaint I have is with the shower. It is a tub/shower combination and the tub is deep so it is a big step in. The hand held shower head is attached to the side wall so it sprays across the short side of the tub and is barely usable.

A beautiful hotel with a lake view and easy access to the lakefront promenade. Rooms were fine, no frills but everything was there. Nice toiletries. Not enough shelf space in the bathroom and no place to hang bath towels to dry. Breakfast was excellent although the staff was overwhelmed and didn’t always offer drinks. I would have been just fine getting coffee from a machine but that wasn’t an option.

The location was beautiful and perfect with the lake view, and the breakfast was very good! Everyone spoke English at the hotel, too, which was extremely helpful. Just a 20 minute walk to the Chateau de Chillon, and only five minutes to the downtown area with the mall and restaurants. Would stay again, for sure!

Absolutely the best so far out of our 3 week trip in Europe. Amazing location as we can walk out of hotel directly on to the broadwalk of the lake. Cannot fault the service from all staff. We got the half board option and was amazed at the four course meal and service in a stately dining room. Well worth to get the half board stay. Wished we could have extended our trip just to stay another night at this fantastic hotel with a great history.
From Montreux main station we found it easier to get the bus 201 (walk out of station cross the road and walk down steps or take elevator) to bus top Esca ela gare get off at Bon Port stop and you will see the hotel.

Golf Hotel Rene Capt is a lovely historic hotel located right on the lake.
We loved our room as the view of the lake from our balcony was stunning, especially during the early mornings.There is a great walking path along the lake to visit the castle or to go into the city center.where there are tons of restaurants There is also a bus stop nearby and the hotel gives you a free bus pass.

So romantic! THE BEST VIEW FROM THE LAKE SIDE. You have to treat yourself to room service for breakfast and eat out on the balcony. Bed was so cozy too. We are already planning a trip back to Montreux. Only down sides: no A/C; Our room had a fan tower and we were on a higher level so we cracked the door open to keep cool. Also we couldn't check-in until 3pm but lucky for us, the weather was great. We wandered Montreux, got some lunch, did some shopping, and took pictures ON THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PROMENADE along the lake to kill time.

We had a lakeview room in the original hotel. I am not sure, but think there is a section of the hotel that was added on. View was beautiful, , room was up two flights, but there is an elevator if needed. Staff was always nice and friendly and helpful.
I wish they wouldn’t give you a fridge with the minibar all stocked....I probably could have asked them to empty it so I could keep my water and soda cold, but I didn’t.
Typical American that I am, I would have liked to have had ice available. I know I can’t be the only person who feels that way, though I realize it is an American thing.
The walls are thin, we heard the neighbors a lot the last night yelling at a child which was disturbing. Hotel couldn’t help the weather but it was really warm so we had the balcony doors open all the time we were there. They did have a room “fan” they supplied. Bed was firm, which we liked. Bathroom was small, but workable. Grounds are VERY pretty! The whole Montreux waterfront is gorgeous.
Breakfast was ok. We were there 4 nights and ate at it twice. Again, staff was good there. We have stayed at similar classic resort hotels with more extensive breakfasts, but it was all right.
It is a walk, which we always did, but there is a bus stop close by.
I would recommend this hotel and would stay again if in Montreux.

Great stay for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. Fabulous reception staff who were helpful, friendly and professional. The hotel is beautiful and location excellent.

The rooms are a little dated but that’s what we expected, bathrooms newly refurbished and facilities in room are fine for holiday.

We love Montreux and we loved this hotel we will definitely be back!

We loved Montreux, and the location of the hotel.
Only down side was that the lift was broken down the day before and day of our departure. We had to walk down 3 flights of stairs with our luggage to check out. The staff were very apologetic.
We found that most of our hotels in Switzerland didn't have air-conditioning which is often necessary.

Warning- no AC at this hotel!! We went in the middle of summer and could barely breathe it was so hot inside. Staff was wonderful though and brought us extra fans, but we wouldn’t have booked to stay here in the middle of July knowing there’s no air conditioning. Property is very nice. Hotel has a great location and is a nice hotel for sure but rooms could be nicer. Rooms were a bit small and bathroom typical for Europe but wished the room and bath were more updated. Given how hot it was, we were in desperate need of air conditioning but had to make sure with one small fan. Hotel could not accommodate a second which was disappointing. Views from balcony were nice and the proximity to the water great, went swimming a few times which was great.

As can be expected with such an old hotel there can be a bit of a problem with the noise of footsteps coming through from the room above. Updating the shower in the bath is possibly overdue.

The rate I paid was including taxes and charges. However, I was charged again for CHF20 as city tax when check out.

I loved the location, two seconds and you are on the walking path of the lake, walking to the casino, Freddie’s statue and the castle, or just taking long walks by the lake great location

The Golf is a lovely old hotel with an inviting lobby with a bar, beautiful patio overlooking Lake Geneva, rooms with a view of the lake, a plentiful breakfast, located on the walk along the lake. It is a 15 minute walk to the center of town and a 20 minute walk to the Castle. The staff was a bit brusque at first but they were helpful and informative.
