It’s an average place, the bathroom is the main reason to give it 3 stars. The shower drainage was bad! Also the bathroom was more like a pod than an actual bathroom. The room service was awesome

Ibis Kolenmesse Germany.

Room was clean and tidy good breakfast choices very polite staff. Only thing that needs addressing is no usb charge points seem like this is a real service thing nowadays with phones that need charging. Other than that it was ok for my needs.

Even the non-\"budget\" Ibis is rather budget

Cons: only a couple power outlets in room, and not close to bed/nightstands. Weird pod-like bathroom. No dressers or mini-fridge, so fairly small and spartan room. Location is fair for tram but a hike for the trains. Very few walkable places around the hotel, more industrial area. At one point in morning, staff actually entered our room while we were still trying to sleep, which annoyed us.

Pros: nice, posh lobby. Modern and good condition rooms and beds.

Lovely hotel for a city break

Once upon a time, there was a boy and a girl. They went to Cologne for the Christmas markets. They booked an Ibis hotel and totally loved their experience. The hotel was a 20 minute walk to the cathedral over a beautiful bridge. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Awesome place!

Thank you from the girl with green hair!

Staff were very kind and patient with me. I speak very little to no German and they made a real effort to communicate with me. The room was comfortable and clean and well worth what i paid. Thanks once again for being so brilliant and see you again!

Clean budget hotel in good location

This was a good hotel. I like that they are very clean and simple. However if u do not like budget hotels it won't be for u - I could have done with extra pillows. You can walk in to the centre, as we did, but u would need to be keen walkers as it takes about 30mins.

Walking distance from Exhibition centre

Comfortable & Clean. Just a few minutes from the Cologne Exhibition Centre (Koln Messe)
Breakfast was not included in room price, so had to be purchased there. Also Cologne room
tax was applied at checkout. Room was functional, bathroom clean. Only issue was the carpet
in the bedroom was stained quite badly

Good budget hotel close to city centre.

If you've stayed in an Ibis before, you'll know what to expect. This one is quite large but seems efficiently run. For a city break it's well placed but fairly quiet, unless perhaps your visit coincides with a major exhibition at Koln Messe.

We walked into the city across the rail bridge, but it's over 30 minutes walk to the Dom. The U-Bahn stop nearby requires either large numbers of coins or a German-issued cash card, so isn't useful on arrival.

When approaching by car, check the instructions rigorously as it's incredibly easy to miss it and end up on a motorway.

Ideal for our needs

I am a fan of chain, basic, 3 star rated hotels and this is exactly what Ibis Koeln Messe delivered.

The staff were lovely, apart from a cleaner who was so eager she wanted to clean our room she knocked on our door on 4 separate occasions on the morning of our departure.

For a lot of people wanting easy access to the centre this hotel may not be ideal but personally I enjoyed the 25 minute walk through some of the city outskirts and over the impressive bridge.

Overall a very good price for a very adequate hotel.

Although it was only one night. Hotel was great. Perfect location. Good attention by staff. Room clean and confortable ( a bit small) but in Europe standard rooms tend to be smaller than any other continent ! No complaints.

Clean hotel with an excellant buffet breakfast. Great choice of channels on the TV and free wi-fi in the lobby. A very comfortable stay and close to a U-bahn stop which is handy. I would stay there again.

Not one I would recommend

The staff were very helpful and let me check in early,but really from there it was nothing special. Room was o.k,bed comfy. But no armchair to relax and strange marks on the wall oppisite my side of the bed! Service was slow at the bar. One member of staff even walked off whilst I was waiting. Transport to twon was good,but a very remote area surrounded by offices and factories. No hot water or heating during the day! Wouldnt use Ibis again.

Die Betten sind in Ordnung, es gibt aber nur eine große Decke für 2 Personen.

Das Check-in verlief am Anfang etwas chaotisch. Wir waren 10 Leute und uns kam es so herüber als hätten die selten solche Gruppen. Der Ablauf lief nicht flüssig. Waren etwas überfordert und fragten oft andere Kollegen um Hilfe.

Im Zimmer war nur ein großes Handtuch zum abtrocknen und kein kleines Handtuch, die Duschbrause und Wasserhahn am Waschbecken müssten erneuert werden. Da der Wasserhahn nicht mehr ganz zum aufdrehen ging und etwas locker war. Im Zimmer wäre ein zweiter Hocker oder Stuhl sinnvoll. Desweiteren hat die Lampe sehr gebrummt und gesummt

Aber sonst war der Aufenthalt angenehm und das Hotel ist schön eingerichtet. Das Personal freundlich. Das Frühstück reichhaltig und sehr gut.

Sehr zentral, die Bahn direkt an der Ecke...Der Dom ist auch fußläufig gut zu erreichen. Liegt direkt an der Messe. Parkhaus kostenpflichtig vorhanden. Die Bar ist 24 Stunden geöffnet. Frühstück sehr gut. Insbesondere der Kaffee hat sehr gut geschmeckt. Vegetarier kommen auch auf ihre Kosten. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder!

Praktisk og nemt. Skønt med p kælder under hotellet. Værelset fungerede fint, men det er skabet - f.x. et håndklæde pr. person som både skal bruges til at tørre hænder og som badehåndkæde.

Ich hab noch nie gehört dass mir jemand am Empfang befiehlt ich möge bitte den Stift in die Hand nehmen. Also vorher gab's das Dokument nicht. Allgemein etwas sehr seltsame Umgangston.

Zimmer/ Bettzeug. Klar dass es nichts jedes Mal gewaschen wird. Aber zur Hygiene gehört schon, dass wenn es fleckig und gelb wird, man es austauscht.

Ich habe dieses Hotel ausgewählt, weil es ziemlich nah an der Lanxess Arena liegt und ich für ein Konzert in Köln war. Das Zimmer war in Ordnung. Es war eher klein, aber ausreichend. Das Badezimmer war etwas merkwürdig aber sauber. Für Kurztrips ist es empfehlenswert. Für längere Reisen wäre es wahrscheinlich etwas unkomfortabel.

Freundliches Personal, gutes Frühstück, am Zimmer an sich nichts zu beanstanden.
Leider aber im Zimmer starker beißender Geruch aus dem Toilettenrohr, der das Benutzen des Badezimmers sehr unangenehm machte. Dagegen sollte dringend etwas unternommen werden.

Zweckmäßig und sauberes Zimmer, jedoch sehr hellhörig. Jedes Husten, Fernseher, alles ist vom Nachbarn zu hören. Daher ist es für entspanntes Schlafen nicht geeignet. Die Matratzen in meinem Zimmer waren beide durchgelegen und müssen ausgetauscht werden. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich. Aufgrund von hellhörigen Zimmern und unbequemen Matratzen werde ich es zukünftig nicht mehr buchen.

Review by travelling ambulatory wheelchair user

I stayed in Ibis Köln Messe for three nights. The hotel was modern, there was step free enterance and two elevators. I stayed in an accessible room as I'm an ambulatory wheelchair user. The room worked well for my needs. The room was spacy, it had hard floor and the shower was wheelchair accessible. There was a shower chair that was attached to the railing that could be moved to different positions or removed. The bathroom door was a sliding door and there were no doorstep. The room had full body mirror and the bathroom mirror was adjustable. The bed was accessible only from one side and from the foot end.

Only thing that didn't work for me was that there were only two power outlets in the room and those were on the writing desk. There was no power outlets near the bed. I had to use an extension chord to get electricity for my CPAP. Two power outlets are too little in my opinion for this kind of room as people may have e.g. power chairs or other medical equipment that needs to be charged or plugged in.

The room wasn't dirty but it wasn't super clean either. The soap was almost out since the day I arrived and even though I asked for a refill I never got it.

Otherwise the service in the hotel was excelent. The staff were super nice and helpful. For an example they offered to help me with my luggage without needing to ask them first and after my first night I was asked if the room was sufficient for my accessibility needs. These kind of seemingly little things matter.

Der Checkin war problemlos, obwohl die Formulare nur auf englisch waren - in Deutschland. Aber wir haben es trotzdem geschafft.

Das Frühstück hat uns sehr geschmeckt.

Die Zimmer waren zwar klein, aber gemütlich. Wir würden wieder kommen.

Bin sehr zufrieden

Ich habe das Hotel für ein verlängertes WE mit Konzert- und Messebesuch gebucht. Dafür ist es perfekt geeignet! Die Zimmer sind sauber, Lanxess-Arena und Messe sind fussläufig erreichbar. Auch in die Innenstadt kann man laufen bzw. ist die Straßenbahn-Station zu Fuß erreichbar
