Mixed feelings. Great space and staff. However, due to an event, the parking I was told they had for guests, was used up. They sent us to a parking garage, which was a pretty far walk and was also full for 8 of the 9 floors, so it was a long walk down the stairs, as the elevator was broken. Also, there was no evening restaurant, just the bar, which did get us food, but really slow with the event in house.

Lovely stay in Cologne. The hotel was great and in a good location, easy for local transport connections. Staff all helpful and friendly. Good, big and comfy rooms (we had two family suites) with an excellent range of options for breakfast. Highly recommended as a base for visiting Cologne and the surrounding area.

Generally good. Fantastic room for breakfast. Great staff. Good location. Car parking a bonus. Air com was a bit weak and a strange design fault as the bathroom which was lovely had frosted glass doors which flooded the bedroom with light when used. Otherwise v good indeed.

Wonderful Hotel

Staff are friendly and helpful at all times and the Hotel is extremely clean and well kept. The rooms are a good size and equipped with all you would expect. Beds are comfy and provide for a good nights sleep. There is an extensive variety available for breakfast in the spacious restaurant, which is beautifully designed. All in all a perfect place for a comfortable stay.

In general, the hotel is good. The biggest problem we experienced is that it advertises that rooms have a/c but in reality is just a fan that doesn't cool the room. Therefore, we had trouble sleeping. Staff is friendly.

Air conditioning non existent in family room which meant two extremely hot uncomfortable nights for over £600.

Réception miserable and unhelpful, took payment for car parking , didn’t give a token which was required to activate barrier which meant another trip back into the hotel , not so much as an apology

Hotel was great and the staff was really friendly. Everything was very clean and the breakfast each morning was great (except there is no self serve coffee option so sometimes it can take awhile) the large downside was that the room got very hot every night and it was highly disruptive to sleep. Also there was no bed sheet. Only a comforter (top blanket) which I thought was strange.

My only tiny negative is perhaps putting a bit of artwork or design into the bedroom as it is quite bland.

I definitely recommend and would stay again.

Lovely hotel and wonderful staff. Very convenient to the Laxness Arena for an evening concert. Breakfast was excellent and the restaurant area is in a converted swimming pool. It was quirky and elegant and quite fun for your early morning coffee! I would most definitely stay here again

The name “Palais” makes you believe it’s like a palace, so a bit disappointing to enter the hotel lobby. However staff at the reception is very sweet and helpful. I first got a really disappointing, dark room, and was upgraded after I objected, to a room of the type I expected to have paid for. The breakfast room is what must give the hotel the name Palais, it’s huge, but the selection and quality in the breakfast buffet isn’t impressive at all, compared to other German hotels at the same price. The room I got, was nice and bed was comfortable. Parking was under the hotel, very convenient, and payment was easy, added to your bill. The area around isn’t that exciting in the evening. A bit far and dark to go to the nearest restaurants, so better go further away by taxi for better selection.

If you're going to an event at The Lanxess Arena, then you can't stay closer! This hotel is literally just across the road. The hotel has a VERY small parking garage: when we arrived, bang on earliest check-in time, it was already full. There is however, plenty of street parking just around the corner, which costs €4 up until 09.00 the next morning (parking meters: you will need 1 or 2 Euro coins and 50 cent coins only; it says it accepts card payment, but didn't seem to recognise our British credit or debit cards). Be careful though, if you park in the same road as the hotel, it's a maximum of 3 hours stay. There are several very decent places to eat within a 5 minute walk. It's about a 20-25 minute walk to Cologne Cathedral, or there's a bus stop for the red line hop on hop off open top bus a couple of minutes walk away. The hotel itself was nicely decorated, the room had comfortable beds, air conditioning and a good bathroom. There's a breakfast buffet for €16 each. Restaurant staff were delightful, as were the females on reception. Unfortunately, the young man on the reception desk in the afternoons really didn't want to be there and it showed: he was unhelpful almost to the point of rudeness, despite our speaking to him in German.

An ideal choice and convenient location

We were surprised by a lovely upgraded room upon our arrival. It doesn't get better than that! It's a lovely hotel conveniently located to the Messe, Lanxess Arena, tram stations, etc...The hotel has been beautifully remodeled and our room was exceptional complete with a huge terrace. The breakfast has something for every taste and is delicious. The staff was always very helpful and friendly.I can't say enough about how nice it was to find this hotel. I will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Köln.

We booked to stay here as a last minute trip away over Easter. The price for the hotel was extremely good value and came with breakfast included. The room was spacious and modern. Breakfast was a buffet style with quite a big selection.

The hotel is in a great location but is quite dated.
Staff at front desk were appalling. Rude, inconsiderate and basically incompetent. They ruined our stay and left me in tears at one point. Will not be returning.

Very nice hotel with wonderful staff. Room was great, the pillows were so comfy. Bathroom was huge. We were able to check in a little early and leave a little late which was very helpful. Breakfast was amazing. Extremely handy for the Arena which was the purpose of our visit. Maybe a little pricey but hotels in Cologne in general seem to be that way inclined.

Room was super tiny, with the windows from another building looking at my window. I had to have window covers on all the time, even during the day. Felt like I was leaving in a basement. The bathroom was nice and clean but also super tiny counter that I did not have where to put my toiletry. Hotel is far away from everything, so you ether have to eat in the hotel, or take a taxi to downtown.

Great location, polite staff who all spoke very good English. lovely clean room and the breakfast was excellent. We stayed the entire day there for work purposes and can only say the food was good, the beer was good and the cocktail was great value for money.
The only slight negative was that the bed was a bit firm for me and the room got quite hot in the middle of the night but that was probably due to me not turning the air conditioning up high enough. highly recommended - you will not be disappointed. the other thing the hotel could do with is more seating in the foyer but that's minor.

Great location for the Lanxess arena.

The room was a decent size for a city centre hotel, and the breakfast and common areas were nicely presented.

The main plus point is that it's just across the road from the Lanxess arena, which made our visit there very easy.

It's probably about 20 mins walk from the city, but we decided to use the underground hotel car park (extra €18 for the day) and walk in anyway.

Pretty Much Excellent!

Used it as going to an event in the Lanxness Arena, for which it was incredibly convenient. Also did a couple of days touring around Cologne and its proximity to the Metro, which was also easy to use, made it ideal for this as well. Staff were helpful and pleasant, the rooms were clean and roomy, and the breakfast was one of the best I have had. The only minor complaints were that the parking was an additional cost and you had to pay for the use of the Internet which in this day and age is bizarre.

We've decided to stay in this hotel during a road trip. We were looking for a good hotel, in a nice location that we could go easily sight seeing.
The hotel overachieved our expectations in almost all levels - room size was very good, bed was very comfortable, amazing shower and water pressure, excellent breakfast.
Only one downside for the entire stay: no free WIFI. I would expect that, nowadays, free WIFI would be a standard service everywhere - apparently, not yet.

Very nice hotel with good service. Situated close to the fair, with very good connection to the city by U-Bahn. We reserved last-minute, a room for 2 adults and a child. We arrived late and only found a double bed that was not suitable for the three of us. They offered us another room with an extra bed, which they did not charge extra, above my expectations. The atmosphere was good, most probably because the hotel is a family owned business. Clean, good bathroom, good breakfast. worth the visit.

Modernes Hotel mit sehr ruhigem Zimmer, obwohl gegenüber der Arena. Eigene Tiefgarage mit (22€), kein großer Preisunterschied zu anderen Parkmöglichkeiten vor Ort.

Personal / Service sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Familienzimmer sehr sauber. Angenehmes großes Bett / großes Schlafsofa, konnten gut darin schlafen. Große Schränke mit viel Stauraum zur Verfügung.

Im Zimmer gab es einen TV, Kühlschrank, Kaffemaschine, Wasserkocher, Safe und ein Radio, was uns jeden Morgen Stimmung gebracht hat 🕺.

Badezimmer sauber, Föhn vorhanden,Handtücher, Badetücher ausreichend, Handcreme, Duschgel und Handseife mit sehr angenehmem Duft.

Frühstücksbuffet mit sehr guter Auswahl an Aufschnitt, Eiern, Aufstrich, Joghurt, Obst, Brötchen, Brot, Pancakes, gefüllten Pancakes, Kaffeespezialitäten und Teesorten usw. Es könnte jedoch etwas Abwechslung bekommen da sonst eine längere Aufenthalt langweilig wird.

Bio´s Bar wurde genutzt, freundlicher guter Service, leckere Cocktails, leckere Hamburger, gutes Bier, gute Erzählung zur Bio´s Bar.

Restaurant am Abend genutzt, eine kleine Auswahl an Speisen, aber gute Qualität, Essen sehr lecker, Service sehr freundlich, Weiterempfehlung.

Die 4 ⭐Sterne des Hotels sind absolut gerechtfertigt - wir haben uns rundum wohl gefühlt und können es nur empfehlen, da es uns den Städte-Trip in Köln echt gut gemacht hat. ☺️
