Absolutely perfect location for karneval. Close to everything you need to have a good time. Great restaurants and bars nearby, transit is 30 seconds outside the hotel, can't ask for a better spot. And the rooms are HUGE for Europe. Our one issue was the room was extremely dusty and the pillows were basically non existent, but small price to pay for the location.

We decided to finish our road trip and gig of bands I've never heard of, but the younger generation knew who they were, with three days in Cologne. We booked the Maratim Hotel due to the location and how it looked.

The hotel was very clean and the staff very attentive. I did think that the car park, which was located under the hotel, was very expensive, but that may be because I'm a Yorkshireman

Breakfast was not good, extremely busy despite coming early, food trays and spoons were not clean, people were just mixing the non veg with veg - nobody cared about the cleaning and hygiene of the dining area, no table system just could sit anywhere so people of 1/2 were taking up so much space on tables that could have been separated for others. The service of the hotel staff is disappointing, will not be coming back to this hotel again- felt like I have spent so much money here and it’s gone to waste, 3 nights my daughter and I had to spend in the cold as the balcony door was broken yet nobody listened when I complained and asked to change room - only on the 4th night they moved the room which was pointless as I had to move things which caused so much inconvenience, I have a non viable disability where all this stress has caused me so much pain and discomfort where this all has ruined our trip! From long queues in reception, to not answering the phones, to awful customer service and some of the staff had such bad attitude - which I found so disappointing and disheartening especially as a tourist in a new city/country it’s made an impression that the whole of cologne is like this. I have emailed and tried to contact the hotel many times but no reply still. I will be making a formal complain as I have also been charged for the rental of a charger although I gave this back but the payment has been charged on my invoice. Toilet seat broken , no soap in dispenser not clean roo….

The hotel location was excellent as were the facilities, however I was disappointed that the bar was only open 1 night during my visit.
The rest of the amenities were very good including the room and the staff.

The hotel looked impress online but from the minute we arrived it was breathtaking. We had a lovely family suite, king bed and queen comfortable sofa bed in the lounge area for our 16 year old. City view of Christmas market, Cathedral and river. We had plenty of room, storage, towels, spotless. Had to ask for extra bath robe and slippers. Request a kettle from reception. Only down side one english/news channel on TV. Could of done with a small mirror in bedroom under TV.
Had a complementary upgrade with suite in a quieter breakfast room. Great as our girl is autistic with sensory issues. Lovely breakfasts on 3 occasions. Ventured into main breakfast area on last day and although more choice, it was more hectic. Staff were helpful throughout stay. Small but nice pool, sauna and tiny stream room.
Had late lunch in patio restaurant. Great food with friendly staff.

Constant broken elevator and doors. Room was only cleaned once in four days during our stay. Appears not enough cleaning staff. Has a sauna where old men with phones hang out by the door faking like they are on the phone to take pictures of the women inside.

The hotel has a perfect location and was very easy to reach from the train station. Everything is walkable, and we had a lovely view of the Dom from our room. The rooms were a good size, included a nice balcony, and the hotel felt very eco conscious.
Check in could have been better. The staff member was not very helpful with local recommendations, and we were not told that booking breakfast at check in would have been 7€ less per person per day, which would save us 28€.

Hotel is in a great location, especially for the Christmas markets. The breakfast is good. But the rooms are way too hot and no way to adjust the temp. Also the reception staff wanted €5 for the hotel robe to use the pool so be prepared for all the extras.

Very difficult getting room service on the first night so had to go down to the restaurant itself where the man was very rude so we didn't bother using room service again. We booked a cot which we didnt get. When i spoke with reception they told me they were having trouble with the housekeeping

Piano player in the Piano Bar was nice to listen to and relax together with the friendly bar staff after a days shopping.

Generally this is an interesting hotel to stay in; however the piano bar was not available on the Sunday night.

I also thought I had paid more for a room with a view. The view we had was of the top of the glass roof and was most disappointing.

My 8 day stay was spoilt by the lack of the most basic facilities - 2 of the lifts not working during my stay ... the revolving entrance door also not working. Restaurants not opened. On Friday 31/10 for example only one restaurant available as the Hotel were also accommodating a wedding; this in conjunction with the lift situation meant room service was the only option.Room decor very dated. Housekeeping poor - room was not service on 31/10 - presumably because the Hotel was so busy with the Wedding & other events being hosted. Despite booking a superior room ensuite facilities poor - shower not great. There was also a stale smell in the room despite requesting non smoking ( had to keep windows open during the day).Honestly there are better 3* Hotels than the Maritim. Felt I had been robbed. Never again!

The hotel is in an excellent location. Bedroom and bathroom were spacious, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice, especially the varieties of delicious bread and the coffee. Housekeeping and reception staff were very good and hard working. However the WiFi was poor and dropped connection frequently. The gym and pool were disappointing, very small, and no staff present, towels have to be collected from reception who then told me I should have brought one from my room. Mixed changing room and showers which I found strange.

Great hotel to stay at. It is in a great location, close to public transportation, which we didn't ise actually, as everything touristy was at a walkable distance, includingthe central train station. Our only compliant was the stuffines of the room. The weather was pleasant outside, so we kept our windows open. It's really noisy during the day. Surprisingly quiet at night.
The hotel itself is quite charming with great staff. We'd definitely stay there again.

Hotel was in great location as it was within walking distance of Koln. Hotel was nice, rooms were spacious and clean.

The restaurants and shops in the hotel seem to shut, but restaurants are 2 min walk.

Breakfast was great, with wide selection of hot/cold options.

It felt quite dead . Looks beautiful from the outside but needs rooms updated . Breakfast at 30 euros too expensive. It put me off having a meal there.
Pool was unmanned and there was a lot of surface water on floor . Very slippy . I was oncerned that if anyone slipped there was no one there for help . It could be a fantastic hotel as it has the wow factor from outside and in an ideal location .

Had a wonderful 5 night stay at the hotel. I was a bit apprehensive after reading some reviews but i was pleasantly surprised. Lovely welcome from check in staff and given lots of information about the hotel and surrounding area. Hotel lobby is impressive, superior double room was spacious, clean and aircon worked perfectly.
Breakfast was plentiful and you can order different eggs/bacon from the waitress. My only very small gripe would be that the toaster took ages so put your toast on whilst you enjoy some cereal!
The lifts were mentioned in alot of other reviews, to be honest it would be better if all 3 were working but we never had long to wait and we were on holiday so not in a hurry to get anywhere.
Central location right by lots of bars/ restaurants and a very short walk to the Rhine.
Loved our visit to the hotel and to Cologne, we will be back to visit you both again

The Hotel Maritim is beautifully designed with a multistory atrium. The room was well appointed and the beds were comfortable. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. I had a drink at their rooftop restaurant with amazing views of the river and the city. I highly recommend this hotel for its location, service and well appointed accommodations.

Great choice for Cologne

The hotel is really big and pretty. The rooms are spacious, a bit poorly lighted at night but they get lots of light in the day. It’s a 10 min walk to the Cologne Cathedral and it’s right in from a beautiful plaza with lots of restaurants.

Really nice hotel, great location, great breakfast. Unfortunately our room was extremely hot, and stayed like that the whole five days even as the weather cooled down. The air con wasn’t working and even though we reported it, it didn’t improve. A shame because everything else about the hotel was great!

This hotel is located in a great area. You’re close to the river, train and bus stations as well as restaurants & shops. The rooms are a bit dated. They look like they haven’t been redecorated since the late 80s but I can get past that. The beds are super comfortable and so are the pillows. The rooms are spacious which is a rarity in Europe. The breakfast buffet is a nice variety of foods and the coffee is delicious.

Great location and a 15 minute walk from Cologne Hbf.
The hotel itself is great but two things that were not so great. Thinking the sink plug was stuck I called maintenance. Only to find out the plug release lever was hidden behind the tap!!
The second issue was the rainwater shower. It came down with such force that it almost flooded the bathroom. The drainage couldn't keep up with the flow. The water actually overflowed into an area without any drainage at all.

The only plus I have is the location and convenience to the city center. The hotel itself was not worth it at all to me. Very dated, mid 80s stained carpet, bad furniture. The elevators are trash, we waited over ten minutes multiple times for it to get to us. The rooms themselves had no ventilation, so it was just a hot box with no AC. I would definitely it recommend this hotel.

Hotel is in good location Heumarkt. Transportation, Bus , Tram are just a minute away. Restaurants are just in 5 minutes walk. Landmark, Cathedral, bridges, cologne triangle , Rhein river are in walking distance. Staffs are friendly. Room was ok, we were 3 persons and I booked a Room with 3 single beds, but as we checked in, there was 2 single beds and 1 sofa- bed. As I mentioned this to the reception, she told me that the room is too small for another 3rd bed.
As I asked if you have another room with 3 single beds, she told me all room are same. I wonder why the hotel offer an option “ 3 single beds ” while booking, if they are not able to organize.

Another minus point is: the hotel offers bottled water for checking in, we got 2 sparkling water (water with gas medium) , when I asked the reception for normal mineral water, because we don’t drink sparkling water, she told me to buy at the KIOSK (the hotel has a small room with Maschine, where you can pay with cards and you will get your water, chips, coffee etc. )

Because of good location and safe, it is recommended.

We had a great stay at this hotel. Most of the reception staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was very clean in all areas and well maintained. Breakfast was excellent, the pool, sauna and steam were in good working order. The service at the 24/7 bar was excellent. The location was really good, lots of travel facilities and plenty of local restaurants etc. Beautiful views of the river from the rear of the building. The only downside was no complimentary late check out (most hotels do offer this). However, besides that minor point, would recommend a stay at this hotel for sure.

It is centric and close to places but not the what I prefer in a hotel. The hotel is old and so are their rooms. Old TVs, old decorations, old phone, old furniture and the beds are very uncomfortable. I don’t know if I missed but we got 3 individual beds for a family room. Carpet everywhere. Saw flies outside the room. I would say that pictures do not look like the actual property. I tried to see if they will cancel and refund my reservations but they didn’t want to. If you don’t care about room confort, then it is in a good location.

We have stayed there twice this teip to Europe. Clean and rooms good size. Remodeled rooms and wonderful showers in some rooms. Very convenient location with easy access to restaurants and transportation. Only disappointed was that my sister was to make trip with us and a month before leaving her Dr wouldn't let her make the trip. The airlines and everyone of the other hotels on our trip all reimbursed her except Maritim. 😒

A very clean hotel. The breakfast was very good and it looks like the picture. So often you go to hotels and it doesn't look like the picture. This one really does and is very nice inside. I would definitely stay here again.

Great hotel in a great walkable location to all the sights! The room was amazing and we directly overlooked the Cologne Cathedral from the seventh floor. Walking distance to the river and old Towne area, tons of restaurants and shopping. We are already planning our next trip and will definitely stay here again. Cannot recommend highly enough!

The hotel is located right by the Rhine so convenient for river cruise passengers. It's about a 15 minute walk to the Cathedral and Central Train Station. There is a tram station right outside to get to city center. Room is quite spacious for the 3 of us.
