We stayed in the extra large suite, paying a premium to treat ourselves. Initial impressions were that it was quite small and oddly laid out. Then we realised there was no balcony as per the listing - staff confirmed the site was wrong and we could not smoke on balcony anyway (that is not why we wanted it but enjoyed the judgement). We could move but only for 1 night so pointless. I booked in online the day before but had to book in again upon arrival using a screen outside, it didn't work properly but did make me pay, which I had already done. So had to finish check in at reception and got a refund for the second payment. Breakfast was only available on 1 of the 4 days due to a staff issue, first time there was a notice in the lift and on breakfast room door but notthe other days, no apologies. The 'queen' bed was 2 singles pushed together and had 2 cheap single duvets, nothing in the suite felt luxurious or at a quality you would expect in a suite. The room wasn't dirty but there were marks on floors, in the bath and sink, shelves, etc, that just showed a lack of maintenance and care. There was a full bathroom and a seperate toilet, the seperate toilet was small (fine) but had little bugs in it all the time, just a little bit nasty to see every time. We had a coffee machine but had to ask for a kettle. They provided 2 coffee pods for the machine but never replenished so we had to ask for more of those too. No extra bedding in the room so also had to ask. No more space...

This is a very budget hotel. I knew my room would be small, but it was in very poor condition. The top of bed was in a recess so that when you sit up you bang your head. The adjustable lamp above was also loose and hanging directly down. No bedside table or even a little shelf, so your phone, glasses, water, etc have to be on the floor. Wifi was very weak and wouldn’t stay connected. Oh and there was no hot water, which didn’t seem to bother the receptionist too much. All for £159 a night!

Great Hôtel but ruined by lack of air conditioning
Lovely location, lovely staff, lovely condition, very modern and clean but 26 degrees in the room and impossible to sleep. So I cannot advise staying here, it is so uncomfortable and so unnecessary. It’s so unfortunate that the Hôtel chooses to not allow guests to set their own temperature. For someone like me who has a heart condition, I find it really bad for my health as I could only get a couple of hours sleep. It’s just seriously unhealthy. And the owners and management should be ashamed. When everything else is so good this is really just a big big mistake.

Great location within the main shopping area. A few minutes walk to the Döm and old town, and to the chocolate museum. Automated check in code didn’t seem to work but it was daytime so we just went inside to the reception desk where the staff were friendly and welcoming. Room was clean, though very small. Bathroom was functional but the shower door was a little temperamental. We didn’t have breakfast at the hotel so can’t comment on that. We found the department store across the road had a lovely buffet for only 5€. I would certainly stay at this hotel again, it was good value for money and surprisingly quiet for such a central location.

A nice, well managed and well maintained hotel in a terrific location on the edge of the old town, with easy access to tourist attractions, and just steps away from an U-Bahn station, multiple restaurants and a Rewe market. The hotel staff was exceptionally friendly and professional. Although we were unable to check in early, the hotel stored our bags so we were able to enjoy a day in the city. The hotel room was clean, reasonably spacious and quite comfortable. The bed was confortable and the bathroom was well designed and adequately appointed. We were particularly grateful to our air conditioning since we visited during a heatwave. The location was incredible, as we were steps away from anything we either needed or wanted. We would definitely consider staying here the next time we visit this grand city.

A great location in centre of the city within easy walking for all main city sights like EL DE Haus and the Dom. Very nice breakfast with helpful staff. There's a car park multi-storey next door or a QPark is 10mins walk away.

My stay was for the most part excellent. The one exception was street noise. The hotel is located on a major pedestrian thoroughfare, so there is considerable noise from the street into the evening, although it is gone later in the night. There is a subway station and a tram stop nearby, making it easy to get around Cologne.

Lots of street noise filtered into my room (I think something may be wrong with the window latch). The shower head did not fit properly so the water shot out both through the nozzle and sideways. Hotels.com says they have a business center, but staff said they do not. Someone is wrong, which left me out to dry. The blackout curtains were very effective. The bed was sagging and came with one pillow.

4 star? Really? It was ok. No public facilities worth mentioning. Small reception. Dodgy, 80s looking bar that was unsurprisingly always empty. Didn’t mind the very small single room but hanging space minimal. Had to put my coat over the door stay! Pool/gym/spa was 200m away. No tea making facilities. Best was on first morning. Hadn’t pre booked breakfast but turned up 35 mins before buffet closed saying I’d pay and was told I was too late. A straight no! 4 star? Not a chance! Price was reasonable compared to average at this time but now I know why.

SEHR GUT !! Great location. There is a parking garage right next door. Fairly close to train station. Shopping and transportation very close. Rewe grocery store around the corner. Hard Rock Cafe is close by as well. You can get access to a gym nearby as well.

Was told I only needed to pay city taxes. Unauthorised charge for full stay (700 ) taken from original credit card, despite already paying through Expedia. Told I need to wait 2 weeks to get this back.

Of note: The room is very dusty, there are lots of shiny services and dust comes in through the windows so I can see why the cleaners don't bother.

Good location. Hotel is dirty. I told them about a dirty personal disposable item outside of my door in the hallway and the cleaning service or maids never picked it up. I told the front desk on two consecutive nights. I also asked the maid to leave a box of tissues in my room because the box in my room was empty. She was near my room and said she would handle. Never did. I would not return.

Liked the spacious room and location. Appreciated the a/c. Hotel needs to supply basic amenities- no body wash or soap for shower. No wash cloths. No iron. No bottled water in room. These are basic amenities to be expected. Room was not cleaned after first night.

Excellent location. From the Neumarkt station of U-Bahn, take the exit for Hohe Str. As soon as you exit the U-Bahn station, the hotel is literally 10 seconds away.

Great Location...quirky property.
The location of this hotel is great for the Christmas Markets...close to practically all of them! It was also close to shopping, bakeries, and nightlife! BUT...the hotel was a bit quirky. When booking this space I believe it was listed as 4 star...it definitely was not. Practicing a form of eco-friendliness, you receive 1 towel in the bathroom for 2 days and the rooms aren't serviced until after 48 hours. The bathroom was a tight space...a little bigger than a camper bathroom. As others of have said, there are no outlets near the bed to charge anything at night but if you know that in advance you can adapt. Unlike other reviews, I found the staff very friendly and helpful at managing requests/answering questions, and I never ran out of hot water in the shower. The Saturday price was 2.5-3 times as much as the Sunday-Wednesday. Given the time of year I guess that's understandable but I certainly wouldn't pay that again to stay there. This property wasn't horrible (I've stayed in worse) but I would select a different hotel in the future when visiting the city.

*Rooms: small but rather clean. No kettle or even a drinking glass. The glass door of the shower was leaking and after I took a shower the floor was flooded. The floor towel did not help.
*Expedia perks: At the time I made my reservation, and being a platinum Expedia member, I was promised a bottle of sparkling wine at check-in, plus a free access to hotel's swimming pool. After I asked for the wine, it was delivered to my room; still, no access to the pool was given.
*Breakfast was the most disappointing thing. The website of the hotel says that on Sat and Sun the breakfast is served till 11:30, but I was denied access at exactly 11:00 by the staff in the breakfast area. I managed to get to the coffee machine and to make an espresso, but was asked to leave. Best capsule hotel I’ve ever stayed at! Extremely clean, quiet, and very conveniently located at the airport. Unfortunately the hot tubs weren’t working while I was there, but it was still a great stay. They provide body wash and lotion in the bathrooms as well as hairdryers. On your bed you are given a towel, pillow, blanket, and ear plugs. They don’t provide an amenity kit, shower bag, or slippers for the shower though so bring your own. The facilities are very clean and well decorated. There is a bar/ cafe area where you can purchase sandwiches, breakfast (oatmeal/ cereal, croissants, yogurt) and drinks. Nothing is free though Switzerland is expensive so be prepared for that. Overall a great stay but my only complaint is that if you are on a top bunk and want to switch to a bottom bunk, they will charge you $5CF.

We decided to stay here because of the benefits of VIP but we never received those benefits. Carpet was dirty. Room smelled to cigarette. We asked the staff to make something to eliminate the odor but nobody came. Good location with parking.

Kind Staff, but Rooms Not What They Appear
The hotel has a great location, and the staff were very nice. However, the rooms did not meet expectations in size or quality. We paid extra money for a Junior Suite to have a sitting area and space for luggage. The staff insisted the room we received was a Junior Suite, but it was the same size or smaller than most standard European hotel rooms and it did not match the images on the website for a Junior Suite. The room had a small chair and desk, and while it had a king size bed, the bed took up so much of the room that small plastic night stands had to be used because that is all that would fit in the space. The plastic night stands seemed particularly cheap, and the room overall seemed as if it had attempted to be updated but done so too economically. I included a photo of our 'Junior Suite' to illustrate how it differs from what is shown on the hotel website.

Good choice, great location. Ideal base for seeing Cologne. Hotel not very bright at reception and bar quite small. I got an uprgade to suite so no complaints on the room, very nice. I would certainly use this hotel again on my next visit.

If you want 1.5 jail cells as your accommodations, you're in luck! The paint on the walls is jail cell gray. The carpet is jail cell gray. The curtains are jail cell gray. The size of the room is about 50% larger than a typical American jail cell (so I'm told :) The shower is the size of one you'd find in an RV. It was clean, though! Location is good. Enjoy that twin bed resting nearly on the floor.

Average hotel for Cologne - An honest review!
I came for ISM Fair. The hotel was adequate but not as spectacular as some of the reviews I read led me to believe. My room was on the 6th floor, which required me to drag my luggage up a flight of narrow stairs since the elevator only goes to the 5th floor. My room had a separate room for the toilet and one for the bath, which made things a bit inconvenient since I am used to having both in the same room. The view from the window was of the service roof, nothing to see. It always amazes me how the hotels in Europe have the audacity to charge so much during trade shows but offer so little value in return (this is true for almost all hotels in Cologne, Nuremberg, Paris). But, business people are a captive audience.

We got to the hotel quite late at night. We did park in the wrong parking garage. The front desk gentleman showed us correctly and weoved the car. Room was street front view and very quiet ! The front desk gentleman also upgraded us at no cost to a suite . It was perfect ! He was great dealing with two tired people ! Walking distance to everything!

Booked this hotel for work with two single rooms. On the plus side, as there was a European conference in town, the bar was a great meeting place for others from various countries in our industry, and stayed open well into the morning, even if you had to wait until reception was free to get served. It is located perfectly for the cathedral and the main square , which houses great places to eat and be entertained. The rooms were clean, if possibly the smallest I have ever stayed in!! But TV channels were good and all free, and bathroom as big as the rest of the room, so that helped. There are better hotels at more than twice the price, but I will stay here again, just book a double and not a single..

Had issues with check-in, as the reception couldn't find my reservation. The lady said she was fairly new, so it was probably a one off occasion, but because they couldn't find my booking which was done through hotels.com, they recreated a new reservation for me and got me to forward to them my hotels.com e-mail confirmation. At check-out, this issue resulted in the issue being slow as they wanted to share me for the room when I have already paid for the hotel. In the end, it was solved, so no issue. Just a minor inconvenience. The single room was small, but comfortable and cozy. Overall, I'm happy with the experience.

Do note that if you want to walk from the station to the hotel, you need a bit more time than usual for the short distance, because this is the busiest pedestrian street in Cologne (except on Sunday, when the shops are closed).

This hotel was located at the end of a busy pedestrian shopping street, about a 10 or 15 minute walk from the central train station. The location was very convenient for walking around the city, and the bed was very comfortable. There were only two negatives. First, my room was one of two located on the sixth floor, and the elevator only went to the fifth floor, so I had to lug my suitcase up a tiny staircase. Not a huge inconvenience, but still. Second, the people below me kept coming and going in the middle of the night, and I quickly learned that the rooms weren't soundproofed very well. That aside, I would stay here again if I return to Cologne in the future.
