There are a lot of reviews online about the 500 euro charge for cooking in the room. They are very clear on check in what you can and can not do. I didn't even bother cooking in my room so it wasn't a problem for me.

There were some minor issues:

1. The shower only had a body wash/shampoo combo and it was empty. I had to get more from the front desk.

2. Hand soap was also empty.

3. Weird bed set up - two twin duvets on a full bed. No top sheet.

4. Beds are not fully wrapped, which, given the previous comment about bedbugs should be done. My bed did not have bugs, but was hard as the floor.

The breakfast is wildly over priced. With several cafes in the area, just go out.

Good location, only a 13 min walk to the Markt and touristy areas. Room included a kitchen with appliances and fridge. Hotel does not have AC, only heating - which was easily fixed by opening the windows to let the room cool down. Just felt a bit muggy overnight when we had the windows closed. Nice flooring in the rooms (no carpet yay!). Staff held our luggage free of charge after checkout. Free coffee and tea and water 24/7.

Our room was small but typical for Europe. It still slept 4 in separate rooms, plus kitchen. Everything super clean. Lobby has coffee/tea/water machine plus breakfast (if you pay extra).

3 minute walk to supermarket, 5 to shops, 20 to cathedral.

Would stay again.

My family and I enjoyed our stay at Aparthotel Adagio Köln City. The room satisfied our needs as a family of four, and the kitchenette and large fridge/freezer were appreciated. The room was clean, and although daily room service wasn't included, fresh towels and toilet paper etc. were available upon request. There were coffee/tea amenities available, as well as toddler toys etc. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room was very warm (December) and we were able to walk to many of Cologne's amazing Christmas Markets. There is a laundry that includes a washer and dryer; make sure you put your money in after choosing your washing program (not before), otherwise it does not register and the hotel are unable to refund the money.

The apartments are very well located, only 10 minutes' walk from Heumarkt and a 5-minute walk from Poststraße U-bahn station. The apartment itself was fairly basic and a bit dusty in some areas, but comfortable and spacious enough for two people, with TVs in the living room and bedroom. The bathroom was clean and the shower was very good. The free coffee machine and cakes in the lobby were much appreciated, although a bit more coffee in the apartment would be nice. Overall, an enjoyable stay and I would happily book again.

This is truly a 3 star hotel not 4 stars. The property is a bit run-down (our apartment walls were damaged and everything was a little old and run-down). NOT clean (found hair in sink, lots of little black fuzz on our bedding. They also do not communicate with Expedia messaging. Lastly, the apartment is very tiny and the bathroom is tiny as well. It is like a nice 2-star aparthotel but definitely not 4 stars.

Proximity to the train station was good. Everything else is below average: breakfast was below basic, just very poor! It’s not worthy paying for breakfast. The room was so dirty and cramped and you feel boxed in a small hole. The hallway and lift smells damped and dirty. I am trying hard to find positives but I just can’t find any.

The man at the reception definitely could you use some social skills. Property was quite old- parking is very expensive (25 euro with no multiple entry) but it is expensive in Cologne in general. The underground parking is good but its not owned by them but they have a dedicated area assigned. If you just want to spend a day then its fine.

Checkin associates were great. Hotel areas are very warm. The room was too hot it was difficult to sleep and the AC did not work to cool it off, thankfully we got a breeze with the doors open in the evening
If you want to do laundry we suggest using the laundromat across the street as the machines at the hotel are expensive and require $10 euros in $1 euro coins to wash&dry

This was a very well situated hotel in a lovely city. The hotel is very comfy and the staff were all keen to make sure we had a good time. The free tea and coffee was a nice touch.

Staying in an apartment/hotel meant we could have three of us in the same place much more conveniently than if we were in two different hotel rooms.

Loved this hotel! We couldn't get the temperature of the room quite right and ended up a bit hot at night but overall the amenities in the room were great.

Free hot drinks & occasionally snacks downstairs which was an added bonus. Supermarket a couple of minutes walk around the corner. Thai over the road is fantastic!

The studio was very clean, spacious, well equipped and in average condition. It was convenient to have access to a fridge, a microwave and a laundry room just in case. There is also a collapsible laundry rack in the room. The breakfast was simple but good. The pet fee was extremely reasonable if you’re bringing a dog or cat. There were some board games, a foosball table and a piano in the lobby to help pass the time. The location was quiet and away from tourist traffic but still within walking distance of attractions such as the chocolate museum. It is also right around the corner from a Rewe grocery store. My only complaint was the front desk. They were understaffed so check in ended up taking 40 mins. In addition they were not always very responsive when it came to requests for new sheets or towels.

Excellent: Dog-friendly and close to the city center and reasonable price
Good: Quiet (probably depends on the room roadside or opposite), bus tab, parking fee is every 24 hours cycle so you can enjoy city central after check-out.
Not bad or good: A card key was not working properly (can be exchanged), breakfast was equal or less than average, it was a sofa bed and was too soft, some staffs were very kind and friendly and some staffs were not. Probably no air conditioning (heating only).
Overall: I will stay here again if I have a chance to travel to this city again.

Stayed here in 2017 when the hotel was new lovely hotel and friendly staff

Return this year to the opposite and was greeted by unfriendly receptionist who was very unhelpful refused to check me in early explained that she was waiting for customer s to check out
Arrived at 1245pm offered to pay for early check in but she explained she was waiting for guest to check out.
Sat in lobby for 1hr 45mins no one checked out !
Then observed a person want to move rooms due bad smell in bathroom room swap was done

I then asked if I could check in was told no no rooms free untill 3pm I then challenged the day shift female and she stated 3pm was Checkin time I said it's now 230pm surely I can check in but she refused and said I would have to Wait
but a helpful late turn receptionist came on duty gave me the form to fill out and checked me in with out any issues

Standards have dropped including room maintenance and cleaning

Perfect Hotel With a Small Flaw

Great hotel! Or should I say Aparthotel S its properly called. Upon arrival my family and I was shocked, in a good way! We couldn't believe that we've practically gotten an entire mini apartment for ourselves, kitchen and all.

Considering the price, we didnt expect sk much but were happily overwhelmed. However, theres one big flaw about this hotel that I've never experienced until this hotel... theres no service!

My wife and I were mildly disappointed when we found out there's no daily service like most hotels. I mean the daily cleaning of your room, the change of sheets and fresh towels, garbage bags, ect. It was then when we found out why the price was so cheap, theres no service included!

However, despite that, its a great hotel and still a great bang for your buck.

Cleaning standards need to be stepped up, especially with a pandemic in full swing. Stuff from previous guests were still in the room after we’d checked in — not good!

The hotel pillows were so uncomfortable, and the sound system needs updating. It works only on iPhone 3

one of the room ac is not working. We are all woke up in the middle of the night cause feeling so hot. And very bad service in reception ( when check out ), the person who was at the reception when we checked out was very annoying, I asked the clerk who was on my floor what if we were late checkout and he said it was okay. but when we check out in receptionist, the receptionist scolded us, we got annoyed and had a fight at the reception. if as customers are wrong, tell us, no need to scold us, he also mentioned about having to pay, just say how much we will pay. and he kept looking for our mistakes by parking, he threatened to get us out in 10 minutes. I will no longer stay here & will not recommend anyone, thank you

The hotel is a 10 minute walk to Cologne old town and cathedral. A grocery store is 1 minute away and the hotel has a stove, microwave, silverware, cooking tools and refrigerator. The staff is very patient and friendly. If you are looking for daily housekeeping, you might consider staying somewhere else. Our family of 2 adults and 2 children were able to clean up after ourselves and simply request new toiletries/towels as needed. We staying in a one bedroom which has a full bed in the bedroom and pull out bed sofa in the living room that worked for the kids. Great hotel and perfect location.

A very pleasant stay

I was worried about booking an aparthotel - took a chance based on the pics and reviews online. No regrets! The check-in was easy, the stafff was very helpful and knowledgeable about the area and what’s happening (Xmas markets).

The room itself was big enough for the 4 of us. It was clean as was the bathroom. We had a view of the Main Street and we were a 15 min walk to the shopping area and cathedral. Will definitely recommend to family and friends.

Hotel is in good location just a short walk from centre and cathedral, rooms spacious, great shower.
Microwave, stove, kettle, nespresso coffee machine (bring your own capsules) and fridge in room, plus enough crockery and utensils.
Bed is basically a sofa bed but surprisingly comfortable.
The only negative is if you are staying for a few days you might want to take your own iron as the ones they provide are dry irons (not steam) and a nightmare to iron with.
We had a very unpleasant early morning fire alarm whilst we were there (rude awakening) but I’m not sure we can blame the hotel for that.

My check in was a bit chaotic. I have booked for two two-room apartments but was given one only and a double room. I could only get the apartment that matches with my booking after 3 attempts at the reception as the communication wasn't very clear. The reception explained that something went wrong in their system. In general there were not enough staff at the reception. The apartments are very well equipped with good deal and location is fine.

The hotel imposes lots of conditions, such as a high deposit, that you get back within two weeks after paying it cash in advance, they have conditions on cooking and you have to sign up all that stuff. More trudt in the gurdt would be fine.

We had a really nice stay at the Adagio. The guy who checked us in spoke English and was very friendly and helpful. The apartment was very clean and great for a family with a large sofa bed in the lounge and a separate bedroom. The common area downstairs was nice for relaxing and offered complimentary coffee and juice. The hotel was an easy walk to the centre of Cologne. Would definitely stay again.

Was undergoing renovation in reception and dining area but we were informed of this on arrival. At times very warm in apt and too noisy outside to have windows open at night..but a very welcoming hotel which would happily stay again.
Breakfast included for our booking and was basic and fruit selection poor but we enjoyed what we had and excellent opening times (up to 10.30am).
Storage good. Kitchenette just enough but we were on holiday so didn't cook.
Staff friendly and helped with maps and directions for travelling.
All in all a very pleasing stay

The hotel is conveniently located for the centre of Cologne. Having a kitchen area was great as we could cook breakfast and buy food for lunch. The kitchen would have benefited from smaller pans as the ones supplied were far too big for two people and didn’t fit into the dishwasher properly. Also a chopping board would have been useful. But overall we were impressed and thought it to be good value. Would recommend.

Great location, about 15 minutes from the main central station. And about a 10 minute walk from the Old Town. Area was completely safe and secure. Hotel check in was quick. Room was big and although we didn’t spend much time in it, had everything we needed. Bed was a bit uncomfortable as the mattress was quite thin. Not a major issue however. Nice and quiet area, not a lot of traffic on the roads outside, and we were on the 3rd floor.

Convenient, clean and friendly

Good place for just a night or two. Location is pretty good though a bit farther from town center/cathedral area than anticipated. It was about 15-20 min walk.
Most magical town for Christmas and their market express train that take you to the Christmas Markets!

great stay

great place to stay in cologne, room was brilliant, clean,fresh and modern. it was a little cool in the room so we reported it to reception, however it did not improve much. kitchen was good and it was nice to have a fridge etc. we normally stay in hotels but this apartment was very good. would reccommend.

Untidy and dirty

Overall cleanliness needs massive improvement. Hall ways and rooms were dirty, markings on walls and bedding had blood stains.

Very disappointing, will certainly not recommend this hotel.

About 20min walk from main station.
Very convenient for Christmas markets and major sites.
Good facilities and easy to self cater, but remember that supermarkets are all closed on Sundays!
