This was a decent overnight stay. It is what it’s advertised a low budget, but clean, safe, and convenient location for a short stay in Koln. No frills, but it had everything I needed for my stay.

We were able to check in earlier than the 3:00 pm The man greeted us warmly and spoke English. He explained everything so thoroughly. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The Worst Portion of our Trip to Cologne
We were not given any instructions, or email on how to check-in, as no one was present and doors were locked two hours prior to check-in closeout. Only way we didn't end up on the streets, as there was no phone number an American phone or Whatsapp could contact, was another tenant aiding us. Room was cramped with pillows little more than pillowcases. Breakfast was facetious at best, as we were instructed that the food laid out wasn't for guests, even though our reservation said so, and one of the ONLY staff scolded us when we just tried being polite and asking questions. Finally we only met a 'reception' on the 2nd day that we were lucky to see, which demanded a city tax of 4% of our total price which for some reason wasn't part of the original booking, and afterwards we were demeaned when we asked how to check out as the owner was in the process of leaving before 1500 and we wanted to be as non-problematic as possible.

Hotel Glockengasse has all you need without any frills. It’s very dated, does not have an elevator, but is clean and has easy access to the center of Koln. If you require perks this isn’t your place. If you need a cheap basic clean room then it’s perfect.

This small hotel is in a quiet, but convenient, area of Cologne. My family of 7 walked to all the sights and restaurants. The rooms are clean and well furnished. I highly recommend the hotel's delicious breakfast.

Quality Budget Hotel in Cologne
Hotel Glockengasse is a centrally located budget hotel in Cologne. It was well worth the reasonable price we paid. Our recently renovated room was clean enough, comfortable enough, and spacious enough. The wifi worked well. Check-in/out was quick and easy. There is a parking garage located 150 meters from the hotel that was a bargain for Cologne at 7 euros/day. In summary, Hotel Glockengasse delivered as expected, providing a quality budget hotel experience.

The staff were nice & helpful - At check in we were shown how to get in after hours, were able to check in for our parents, who were going to be too late, & were provided with a city map marked with things to do. She took the time to talk to us about other recommendations & best forms of transportation (outside of walking, which is perfectly acceptable from this location). They held our bags for the day while we explored the city & even helped bring them out to our car.

Body wash/shampoo were provided, but not conditioner. Each room had a comfortable double bed with 2 individual covers. There was a big window & door - both able to be opened or vented, a fan, but no AC, so it was very hot due to temp >90-100F during our time in Cologne. One of the rooms had noticeably dirty carpet, but was otherwise clean. TV in each room. Wifi was free throughout hotel.
Breakfast was above average for European hotels: eggs & coffee made to order, produce, variety of breads, meats & cheeses, yogurt, granola + toppings, OJ, water, & milk.
The hotel is in a very good & easy location regarding surroundings - easy shopping & sightseeing.
Other than temperature, this little boutique hotel was welcoming and comfortable. I would stay here again.

Hotel Glockengasse was perfect for our visit to Cologne's Christmas markets! The hotel is located in a very convenient part of the city and we were able to walk to five different markets, as well as to the train station. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They made us fresh coffee and eggs to order in the morning. The breakfast spread was very nice and healthy, with lots of fruits. If we visit Cologne again, we will stay at Hotel Glockengasse for sure! The only downside was that the hair dryer did not work, as there was no plug in the bathroom. However, everything else was lovely!

Our only advice is try to install an elevator for senior and/ or feeble guests with full suitcases assigned to rooms on the second floor ( third floor for North Americans) and up.
Hotel staff is always ready to help with a smile.
But that would move them away from front desk... Or guests will have to wait at lobby till staff is free from desk task at hand.
Apart from that long climb of 17x3 steps , a couple of times a day, our stay on the top floor of the hotel was pretty pleasant.

You need to buy new pillows, they are terrible, everything inside is broken together and you sleep like on stones. The mattress is too hard, the bed is uncomfortable, the room is hot and this windmill does not help, the price is too high if there is not even air conditioning.

日本人が思うホテルではなくマンションのワンルームを部屋にしました！みたいな感じ。チェックイン前に荷物を預けていいですか？とメールでやり取りしてて、いつでもいいよ！と言われていたけど10時ぐらいにホテルに行ったら閉まってた。15時から23時までしか受付の人いないよ！的なことが入り口に書いてありました。14時ぐらいにホテルに戻ったら受付の人がいてアーリーチェックインか宿泊税かわからないけど20ユーロ払ってチェックインできました。チェックインした後は部屋の鍵＋ホテル入り口の鍵を渡されるので自由に出入りできます！FKKに行ってて帰るのは深夜2時ぐらいだったけどタクシーで帰ってきて無事入れました！アメニティはタオルとトイレのスリッパぐらい。テレビがあってそこからUSB－Ａ端子で充電できます。コンセントは全てドイツ規格なので他では充電できません。

Ich war ziemlich erstaunt wie das Hotel zu so einer guten Bewertung kommt - vielleicht ist es die Lage in der Kölner Innenstadt? Wir waren zwei Nächte dort und fanden das Zimmer schrecklich - nicht nur das Bett insbesondere Lacken und Kopfkissen waren eine Katastrophe und wir hatten beide danach Nackenschmerzen. Der Frühstücksbereich sieht auch ganz anders aus und viel schlimmer es stinkt nach Zigarettenrauch - im Zimmer haben auch schon Leute geraucht (dafür kann der Betreiber allerdings nichts). Bitte nicht von den Bildern täuschen lassen da sind nur ein paar richtig der Rest ist schlichtweg gelogen oder aus früheren Zeiten. Alles in allem für das Angebot viel zu teuer aber um Nachts zu frieren kann ich auch billiger wohnen und bekomme wahrscheinlich auch eine anständige Hotelrechnung- schade den die Lage ist ziemlich zentral.
