-The room was beautiful and the hotel was close to the city so was able to walk to the places we wanted to go!

- While my partner and I were eating breakfast in the hotel restaurant, we saw a live mouse moving around the dining area where guests were eating. This made the environment feel extremely unhygienic and uncomfortable, especially in a place where food is being served.
We informed a member of staff, who acknowledged that they are aware there are mice in the breakfast area. The only action mentioned was that mouse traps have been placed, and they were unsure where the mice are coming from.
This was very concerning and significantly affected our experience. We would expect much higher hygiene standards in a hotel of this level and hope this issue is addressed urgently.

The location for transport links was good as it was right opposite the tram and next to the S-Bahn. However, our mattress was SO hard I really hurt my back and couldn’t sleep properly due to this and the noise of the constant trains outside our window throughout the night. There is a frosted glass between the bathroom and bedroom which meant you couldn’t turn the light on in the bathroom at night without the light showing brightly through in the bedroom disturbing the other person if you’re sharing. The lock system on the doors also didn’t feel too safe. Handy supermarket across the road!

At check in , was told room I booked and paid for was not available but was offered a lesser room with breakfast as compensation . Also was asked to pay the full amount all over again (500 euro) . It took a while to sort out the fact the room had been paid for in full in advance .

The Dorint am Heumarkt is an excellently located Hotel in the Heumarkt area of Cologne. The Hotel and rooms are spotlessly clean and the beds are very comfortable. A good bar, Bistro and Breakfast restaurant complete the line up.
The only minor gripes we had were a lack of sockets in the bedroom and only being allowed two sachets of tea per day!
Highly recommended for a visit to the Christmas Markets.

We were moved to a Komfort room and it was clean with a good sized bathroom and bedroom. Matresses are on the soft side but comfortable, pillows are too soft, felt like being suffocated as the pillow swallowed my head. Good location to get to all the markets and the river. transport connection right outside the hotel.

What a fantastic hotel! Staff was beyond professional into actually kind service. Restaurant and bar were phenomenal. Our room wasn't cleaned while we were there and there was a restroom on the hall that never did have paper towels while we were there. Our shower head did not work and the sink drained slowly. Nothing was right about this hotel, the staff were unhelpful, we were paying for breakfast and asked for it to be charged to our room. Suddenly as we were in the buffet with food on our plates, a staff member ran after us demanding that we pay you front! We had to leave our breakfast go cold whilst we settled the bill!! Unbelievable!!! We asked for an interconnecting room as we were a family of 4 and we were told \"not possible\". Then when I asked why our room had not been cleaned or our beds made, we were told that the hotel was an \"eco\" hotel and that they didn't make beds/clean rooms daily! I had to ask twice for clean towels! Honestly! This hotel is rubbish and I wouldn't stay here again... actually I paid for a 4 star and I've had much better service in a 3 star!

I’ve been staying at Dorint Heumarkt for many years, the property lobby was renovated few years ago and they also renovated the top floors rooms. I was given a room that smelled very bad due to old carpet and old ventilation. When I requested to change the room for a new one they told me that these rooms are all booked. It was uncomfortable staying in smelly old room.

It was a decent hotel. Pillows are horrible and I didn’t like how they offer the gym as an amenity on the website but you need to pay $20 a day to use it. Pretty ridiculous but besides that location is great to walk around.

Don't be a guest of this hotel during Carnival. The hotel is more concerned about the festival than the hotel business guests. You can not use the bar as it's limited to a \"carnival\" selection of cheap beer and liquor.

Wonderful Hotel Option
All employees were so kind and accommodating. It was my first international solo trip and they answered all of my questions patiently every time. I had three separate stays close in dates (traveling to other cities in between) but it was always a smooth transition checking in and out. Only downsides were flat pillows after you lay on them once, surfaces in rooms could be cleaned better and there was an odd hole in the wall in my 3rd hotel room that made me uncomfortable. Otherwise, I am excited to come back and stay at the Dorint again!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Dorint Hotel. It has a great central location that's walking distance to the train station, cathedral, Rhine river, shops, and great restaurants. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were spacious and clean. I especially loved the large tub in the bathrooms. Would recommend.

We arrived at 5 pm, and after Checkin they told us our room was not ready, so I ask for the upgrade from Expedia gold. Took a couple of minutes but they did, suite was really nice in size, bed was not comfy for my taste but the rest was quite nice also their pool and gym. The hotel room has a sewage smell. Been in 3 other Germany hotel this trip and never had that smell. They could not do anything for me since I booked thru orbitz. The ac did not work like it say it was. Was set to 19C. But felt closer to 23c. Room was always warm. The bed was rock solid was not comfortable and the pillows were flat and no support. Not sure how this was rated a 4 star hotel… this was a 2 star. Maybe a low 3 star, trash stay

The Dorint Hotel and my room at Heumarkt is more beautiful in person than I expected. I enjoyed the views of the DOM from the elevator. The hotel is in a safe location and is nearby the DOM and lots of restaurants and activities. Everything about the hotel is excellent. It was a very good visit.
