In the heart of Cologne’s shopping district and a short walk away from the Cathedral, this was an excellent hotel as a base to explore the area. There was a choice of rooms - more quiet at the back of the property or, the one we chose, at the front of the property with a partial view of the Cathedral. It could be noisy in the daytime but, if used as a base, this didn’t impact us. Breakfast was basic continental but plenty of it. Very clean hotel and friendly staff

Clean and charming property, friendly staff, excellent location. We were there during a 3 day heat wave (98°) and were exceptionally happy to have booked a room with air conditioning. The breakfast was wonderful, options of brötchen, wurst, jam, cheese, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, cereal, and coffee. Only item missing was milk, but there was condensed milk packets for tire coffee which was delicious. Would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to be near the Cathedral which is absolutely magnificent, as well as right in the central shopping district. 5 minute walk from the central train station and the Dom.

I'll try not to colour my review with my feelings for the city (was disappointed overall, too many partying tourists saw 13 bachelorette parties on first day, 4 arrests, and loads of police everywhere).

Location was perfect. Turn left and you see the Dom cathedral and walk 5 minutes you're at Köln Hbf. It's almost too good in the sense that outside hotel is the busiest corridor in the city. I'd suggest finding something on outer ring of metro lines.

Older hotel that could use some interior updates. Bathroom was way too tight. Awkward entrance to shower (need to almost step over the toilet) and speaking of toilet good luck. I'm 5'10 (179cm) and sitting on this thing I could create diamonds between my legs, there is no room to manoeuvre. That knocked the review down a point alone.

This hotel was really well located on a busy high street and near the cathedral. Plenty of shops and places to eat near by, a few minutes from the main train station and so easy to walk to all the attractions.

Breakfast was included, it was basic but enough just to line your stomach for a day of sightseeing.

I did read a review that said the walls are thin and that is the case as you can really hear the closing of doors and the people in the neighbouring rooms. My room looked out onto the high street so it did get loud but to be honest none of that really affected me to much as I fell straight asleep most nights so it didn't ruin my sleep.

I would stay in this hotel again if I was to visit Cologne again.

Online photos were a bit deceiving. While location was great and staff was friendly, the hotel is in desperate need of updates. Inconvenient to carry around huge room key and may be a fire hazard since you need to lock yourself in your room at night and need to use the key to exit. Shower was extremely small and while bathroom and bedding appeared to be clean, the rooms smell musty. Hotel did offer a basic breakfast.

The clerk was never at the desk so I was waiting every time I needed him. Also, the door creaked so I told the clerk and he said it was ok. Maybe not to the person trying to sleep when I keep opening the door.

The hotel has nice single rooms with most of the usual hotel conveniences. However, the bedside lamp wouldn’t turn on. The hotel is in the middle of Cologne, which is very convenient, but you might get woken up by all the churches around ringing their bells for mass. Hotel breakfast, although it is buffet, didn’t have a lot of choices, so we went eating outside.

If you have a street facing room you will be woken up many times throughout the night by people shouting, groups singing etc.

This location is incredible! The Cathedral is 2 blocks down the street, with the train station just past that. If you arrive by car, you can reserve parking at several lots in easy walking distance. Plenty of dining and high-end shopping just out the door. The rooms are clean and typical, breakfast was very nice and included, the staff were pleasant. Highly recommended!

Simple hotel in the very center. good for its price. THE ONLY DOWNSIDE - the receptionist is not always there. I arrived late at night, and had to call the guy and wait for him 20 minutes. The same story when I checked out and left my luggage in the hotel to pick up later. At 7p.m. the door was locked and there was no receptionist. And I had to hang out around waiting for the guy to arrive and give me my luggage.

So if you are in rush to get to the airport, keep that in mind... that the door can be locked and you'll nedd to waIT.

Absolutely stunning is the location! 3 min walk to the cathedral and a Museum. The moment you leave the hotel do you enter the very nice highstreet with good quality shops and businesses. Few quality restaurants are close by as well... Staff are extremely friendly and helpful!
The only reason why I did not give full marks is the very nice but rather basic breakfast.
Alltogether: we had 3 lovely days in Köln, also because of the convenient located Hotel

The hotel is a narrow building in the middle of a busy shopping plaza with cobblestone lined streets. The walls are paper thin letting in noise from both inside and outside. There is no air conditioning. It was too hot to close the windows and there were people shouting in the echo chamber created by the stone and narrow alley until around 6am. The hotel would be 'fine' if not for being too loud and hot to actually sleep in. Orbitz refused to issue a refund or provide reasonable compensation for a property that is comparable to a hostel at quadruple the cost.

The Callas Hotel is a small tourist class hotel in the center of Cologne. The location is good , right on the main shopping street and near the great cathedral. The location is the best part of this accommodation. That said, I can go over the pros and cons as I experienced them.
The staff is friendly and check I was quick . The hotel has an elevator to get you up to the rooms. This 4 story hotel is well equipped for a short stay. The rooms have comfortable beds and are clean. The linens are fresh and bathroom was immaculate. The hair dryer was a plus. The room had large windows facing out to the street and with a stretch you could see the cathedral towers. Breakfast was simple and I loved the sliced salmon. What a treat!
The cons
There is no lobby and the rooms are quite small. This is the first time I stayed in a place where I could hear everything the neighbors said and every door opening and closing. I thought someone was at my door constantly because I could hear all noises in the corridor. The small bathroom had only a diskette of soap and a squeeze bottle of liquid hair/ body cleanser mounted on the wall and a roll of tissue.
Curtains were very poor although blocking out light did not help with the street noises.
I never got the tv to work and WiFi only allowed for my laptop to sign in but not a second device.
The serve yourself breakfast was a bit too simple and the staff was absent. It is always nice to have a chat with the server and feel you are welcome

Be careful

Be careful about the 5% \"city tax\" that I was not aware of when I reserve. I was charged without any notice. I double check that the city tax can be waved if the purpose is for business travel. When I realize, I emailed them about the situation for three emails, they do not reply me. Very rude.

The location of this hotel is excellent - a 2 minute walk to the Cathedral and 5 minute walk to Cologne Central train station. At check-in I was offered the choice of a quiet or street view room. The quiet room lived up to its promise! The room was well-designed, the bathroom was good - shower bigger than expected and powerful! The bed was alright, not great but it made do. A good selection of TV channels, mainly German, only two in English (CNBC and Bloomberg). Breakfast was basic but nice. Check-in and check-out was easy with friendly service. My only negative is that the walls were thin - I could hear muffled conversation and the toilet flushing in the room next door. Overall though, I was really happy with my stay here and felt it was excellent value for money. I would definitely consider staying here again if I returned to Cologne!

This is the most convenient location for seeing the sights. It is a short walk from the train station and even closer to the Cathedral and the Gaffel am Dom restaurant where you can get the best Kolsch in town. The hotel itself is located on a busy pedestrian street which can be noisy, but once you're inside, it is completely quiet so you can get a good night's sleep and wake up to a fine breakfast buffet.

The breakfast was good, and the reception was friendly and helpful.

The location is in a congested shopping street, so narrow stairways, and the very old elevator was tiny. The rooms were basic, although they had heating radiators, the bathroom didn't have any and was very cold, and the bathroom door was not fully covering this. So the room was also cold during the night.
The walls were thin, and noises from other guests TVs were clearly heard.
Somehow it felt the pictures on the website are much better than the actual room (this is common, but this time it felt more).

Overall it's an OK hotel to stay a night.

In the middle of the altstadt, close to everything

Great little place, our host was absolutely lovely. My only complaint is we didn't know it was in a mall and inaccessible by car with no parking so we drove around and around trying to reach the street for over an hour. The nearest parking was quite expensive but the only choice really. Also the room had no air and no fans, very stuffy in Summer so we didn't sleep well at all. Other than that, lovely host, very central to everything, clean and very friendly

OK hotel in centre of town

This hotel is immediately above shops on the main high street in Cologne. It is rather a basic hotel, but if only staying for one night then it is sufficient for sleeping. Shame the pillows were wafer thin, but the bed was comfortable. Walls very thin too so I was disturbed by the neighbouring room having their tv on loudly all night - I had to leave the bathroom fan on all night in order to try to drown the tv noise out.
Breakfast was lovely.
I would recommend this hotel for a short stay and if you need quick access to the main train station.

Visit on the Christmas Market and Cathedral.

I stayed at this hotel for it's location close to the Cathedral and to the Christmas markets. The room was a single, one bed and desk. small very compact room. The bathroom was small as well, but very clean. The problem I had since I'm a larger person was with the toilet. It was so close to the shower that I had problems and discomfort in using it. I would suggest for larger type people to get a room that is a double. The breakfast was excellent and fresh products. Nice and relaxing breakfast room. Overall I liked this hotel, but for me the toilet issue stood out. Staff was very friendly and helpful and understood English. The location was on the shopping strip of a pedestrian zone,so no traffic noises. I'd suggest this hotel for the solo traveler, pricing was fair for the location and better than most.

My wife, daughter and I visited Cologne during the first week of December. This hotel is in the perfect location in the Hohe Strasse pedestrianised precinct with all the main shops including Lego, Pandora, Jack Wolfskin and other major brands, where prices are significantly better than in the UK. Just around the corner is the market at the Cathedral (Dom) which is magical, especially after a few gluhwein, reibekuchen (fried potato cakes) (and applesauce) and champignons (mushrooms de Paris) (and garlic sauce). Many bars nearby supply large portions of hearty German food consisting of wurst, mashed potato and sauerkraut, washed down with the local speciality beer Kolsch in branded 0.2l glasses.
At this time of the year there are 7 Christmas markets in the central Cologne area, so it is easy to get \"marketed out\" so a visit to the Senf (mustard) museum and Lindt museum / factory are a must.
So back to the hotel, for those who have driven, is just around the corner from the convenient Music Store multi-storey carpark offering secure parking for 15 euros a day. The front desk of the hotel is staffed 24 hours by courteous staff who always greet with a smile. The hotel is very quiet considering its location. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The breakfast is the highlight offering anything from cereals to boiled eggs, cheese, cold meats and smoked salmon, with endless filter coffee, fruit juices and many types of tea.

The location of the hotel is very good as it is a walking distance from the train station. With no car we have also access to the main tourist spots of the city.
We enjoy the room with terrace on the last floor and it was great.

The hotel room (and ensuite) was comfortable and nicely decorated and in good condition. It had a fridge - useful in the hot weather. Our room consisted of two adjoining rooms which was good as our party consisted of one adult and two children. We were on the top floor with a balcony with flowers and chairs and a table outside. The included breakfast was good and plentiful and the staff were friendly and helpful at all times. The only drawback was that our room, which faced onto the street was very noisy all day and only quietened down late at night. If the room had been air-conditioned, or at least had an electric fan, we could have closed the windows, as it was very hot while we were there. The biggest advantage was that the hotel, as well as being good value for money, was very central, near the station and within easy reach of all the many wonderful sights of the city.

This hotel has a very convenient location a five minute walk from the train station and a two minute walk from the Cathedral. The staff is also very nice, and the breakfast is excellent. The main problem is that the reviews remarking on the street noise and the heat in summer are very accurate. My room faced directly onto the main street, and crowd noise went well past midnight. It is possible that internal rooms would be better. As for the heat in summer, I would strongly recommend that the hotel at least provide rooms with an electric fan. The windows in my room did not stay open, and even if they did, the street noise would have been worse with them open.

Nice hotel. Close to all tourist attractions.

Nice small hotel. The room was very nice. It was quiet even though on the main shopping street. The complimentary breakfast was very nice. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.

2 problems with the rooms, but location is perfect

Two problems with the rooms: it wasn't safe at all and there was NO frige or mini-bar in the room. It was very uncomfortable. You have to carry everywhere with you all the documents, valuables, money...Even in the office was not any safe. If you stay for a few days as we done, it's a real problem. You can not leave valuable things so unsafe when strangers come freely for cleaning your room in your absence.
But location is perfect. Very close to the Cathedral (Dom) and all the tourist attractions.

comfortable but...

Stayed for 1 night with a dog. We booked double room but somehow the room was twin. The room was small but clean. In the bathroom, water was leaking under the basin. Breakfast was fine. Very near by the cathedral and shopping street.
We saw few receptionists while our stay, but one guy wasn't nice at all. My husband went to ask for wifi connection and he said something in other language as if he was making fun of my husband... And after we checked out, as we leave, we said \"thanks!\" and he ignored... Other staff seemed fine though.

Nice hotel very central in Pedestrian area.

The hotel ,. rooms clean. Young Lady Receptionist could not do enough for us. The Owner/Manger ! Very RUDE attitude to clients. The Tap in Bathroom Broke on our Last Day. so could not turn it off (hot Water) he said we had Broke it. it had not been very good all the time we where there. Bedroom could do with a chair he did get us one on evening of second day.

The hotel is in a convenient location in the center of Cologne. The service is good. The rooms have good furniture. However, it is noisy because you can hear your neighbors. It's scary unpleasant early morning and late evening.
