The room was nice and clean and the staff was ok to me. But my friend that had room facing the back alley could not sleep because of all the noise upp until 3 at night. She asked for a new room the following day, but the staff said that she had to pay for a hole day at a new room extra for this.
I work my self as a resepsjonist at Best Western and have never herd of this or would never treat any of our guests like this. As long as there is rooms available as it was in this case, you just charge the room, no charge.
We will not be going back to this hotel, and we are not recommending it.

We loved staying at this hotel in November for the Christmas markets! The rooms were very cool looking, on the smaller side but nice and cozy! We also loved the location. Right on the water and about 4 markets were within 10 minutes of walking. They also had free coffee and pastries in the morning as well which was a bonus to our stay. Highly recommend!!

Our family if 5 arrived in Cologne after a 20 hour nightmare travel situation on 3 planes and a train in which the airline lost our bags. Hassan at the front desk was a light in a storm, making us feel welcome. His colleague ( I am so sorry I forgot her name! She’s great! Red-ish hair, glasses, super helpful!) immediately got a map and helped us find a place to buy clothes and toiletries. We were able to get clothing and pjs and had a wonderful stay at the Rhein Hotel St. Martin. The beds were super comfortable, the room was spotless, the attention to detail was wonderful and we had a great stay! And the Christmas markets are fantastic!!

Room 106 was clean but very cold. The termostat for the heating/ air conditioner did next to nothing. The other room we booked (107) was warm.

All windows were left open by the cleaners one day, likely due to condensation from the room being cold.

There was a \"bee boop\" sound going off somewhere, no idea if it was from outside the hotel or not.

The towels provided were quite small but were replaced each day at least.

There was one incident of our keycard for 106 not working causing mild panic after a long day.

Overall we enjoyed our stay very much.

We had a great time at this hotel. The view was amazing and the staff were pleasant and always friendly. We enjoyed these facilities and the balcony/window we had was lovely. We loved the breakfast that was complimentary in the morning and we loved the ability to connect our phone to the TV to watch Netflix etc. The location was amazing and the food & drink in the immediate area was lovely. We will be back for sure!

The room is quite small, which may be due to the hotel being in an older area. The advertisement for lift accessibility is only partly accurate, as my room could not be fully accessed by lift and required using stairs, which is a major inconvenience when carrying large luggage. However, the staff were very friendly, and the hotel is located close to the Old Town.

This should 100% NOT be listed as a 4-star hotel. Hotel layout was HUGE inconvenience (having to travel to 4th floor and walk back down narrow stairs with big heavy bags to the 3rd is not ideal). Rooms have an American motel room vibe and the 'breakfast' is a 2-tier tray of apples and stale pastries left out the night before in the restaurant nextdoor, which of course had no light nor any plates, napkins, or cups.

Not recommended. Was wrongfully listed as a 4-star hotel on Google when I booked

The hotel looks lovely and is clean. However the plumbing had some situation during our 3 night stay. We kept the windows open overnight to not get overwhelmed by the sewer gas from the bathroom which was awful however there was a bar that is open until 3 am on Friday night and Saturday nights which was very loud, there was a fight Friday and police called saturday.Had there been no plumbing situation, this would have been a great stay because it was close to many sights to see and we could of kept the windows closed.

Rooms are very small, beds are situated so that one person has to climb over the other to get out of bed, not ideal in the middle of the night. We were travelling with family and our daughters bathroom was so tiny that her husband had to sit diagonally on the toilet.
On the plus side, very clean, fridge in room which is always handy and hotel is situated along the river and within easy walking distance of most attractions.

The hotel location was perfect. 10 min from the Cathedral and shops and restaurants downstairs. My only complaint was getting to our room was a little bit difficult with our luggage’s with the steep stairs.

Cozy and convenient hotel. We really enjoyed our stay here, very close to the cathedral, main station and lots of beer houses! Great amenities including coupons for a restaurant next door. The staff was welcoming and friendly.
Our only issue was an alarm going off at 3am and we could not turn it off. Staff informed us the next morning that CO2 can build up if the windows are closed for too long; would have been a bit more useful to know before interrupting our sleep.

Small but well appointed room. Firm bed. Very small bathroom with an interesting shower. The streets surrounding the hotel are cobblestone, so it made walking there with roller luggage a bit difficult. The hotel is along the river with lots of dining options nearby. Very close to Cologne Cathedral. The area around the hotel felt safe.

The room was clean. The breakfast and coffee were good. Some downsides: The room was small (smaller than I figured from the pictures). It was a room for two, but I would have only found the room comfortable if (a) it was just me, (b) I had only brought a small bag, and (c) if I had just used the room for sleeping. It is hard to find the space to do things like eat or work. The air conditioning did not work well. We had better results opening the window, which we could not do at night because it was too loud outside.

We had booked 2 rooms at the same price in the same class of room and they were very different- one much bigger than the other and one with a tablet and one without. We spoke to reception and he said not to worry they are the same class of room! But that is not the point - one room was clearly better than the other and they should NOT be in the same class or the same price. Neither room looked anything like the photos on the website either!
The bed was comfortable, the pillows were not, the shower awkward and was impossible not to get the whole bathroom floor wet. The windows were not sound proof and as the location was excellent with lots of bars around - it was noisy!
The buffet breakfast was not a buffet breakfast! There was a coffee machine that was good - but a couple of pastries left out in a very hot room with no cover were not good.

A little bit underwhelmed to be honest. The best thing about the hotel was it's location. Perfectly situated for the river front and the old town.
The rooms were ok. Beds extremely comfortable. One of our rooms was spacious, the other very cramped. One had a nice view of the street, the other had no view.
Now for the negatives. The whole building smelled fusty. The reception staff were abrupt. We didn't get the advertised free daily water or a refill of the coffee pods until we complained. The so called free coffee and pastries between 7 and 10am were a waste of time. There were no pastries left just out of date apples and a few oranges.
Would I stay there again? Probably not, I expected more for the price we paid.

The staff were excellent in customer care. My husband i thought the room was excellent.
There is only one thing. I booked 319 for the view, but you have to go to the fourth floor by lift and walk two floor down by a spiral stair case down to the 3rd floor. With luggage it was something i never expected. Also we took a taxi from the railway station cost 20 euros and we could not get to hotel as its for walking only. So again we had to walk with luggage part of the way. Would i stay at the hotel again yes without luggage.

I foolishly posted a review of how badly management handled a temporary evacuation the day before we left. When we went to checkout the next morning the manager took one look at us and bolted out to the street without a word. We asked the clerk to call a taxi for us to go to the train station - we are in our seventies with leg and back problems and didn’t want to walk the six to eight blocks of cobblestone streets, all uphill.

She picked up the phone and after a minute said the taxi would be three minutes. At the time I thought it strange because I hadn’t heard her say anything but chaulked it up to an error on my part.

After waiting ten minutes we asked her to call again. She walked out of earshot and used her phone, coming back and saying the cab was on the way but stuck behind a loading truck a block away. We should just walk to the taxi. So we started. Before long it was clear there were no trucks blocking roads and no taxis coming. I realized after a block that taxis were not even allowed on those streets in the old town. So we walked all the way. Just like she intended.

In forty years of travel in hundreds of hotels, that is the worst treatment I have ever been subject. The hotel is fine. Service, not so much. And if you ever have an issue where you want management help, forget it.

We were given the key to our room, the room was dirty and still had other people’s bed sheets and towels on the floor, we were then given a smaller room which isn’t what we paid for so asked to just wait for the initial one but we were then given a room that was supposedly the same as our original but was smaller, the shower gel holder kept falling off the wall, the shower head wouldn’t stay in the holder, and the toilet roll holder came off the wall when ever it was used. Bed advertised as king is two singles put together, so you spend most your time climbing out the gap in the middle. Really disappointed.
There isn’t any parking as advertised, it’s in a private car park seperate to the hotel and not really close by, overall, we wouldn’t have spent the money we did if we’d have known.

Lage des Hotel ist wunderbar.

Die Sauberkeit des Hotels war unterirdisch.
Wir mussten erst mal das Bad putzen dieses war bei Ankunft nicht gereinigt. Haare im vergilbten Waschbecken,auf dem Boden Zahnpastareste und die Dusche war einfach nur eklig.
Schimmel am Duschschlauch und an der Handbrause.
Die Glastüren noch mit Schampoo verschmiert.
Im Zimmer eine verfleckte und zerrissene Tagesdecke auf dem Bette. Alles zugesaubt.
Die Kaffeemaschiene und Wasserkocher klebrig und zugestaubt.
Nach der Beschwerde am nächsten Morgen, wurde das Zimmer überhaupt nicht gereinigt.
Netterweise hat uns der Rezeptionist wenigstens neue
Handtücher gebracht.
Wir haben dann nach 2 übernachtungen nicht verlängert und sind in ein anderes Hotel.
Die zugesagten 50% für das Parkhaus haben auch nicht funktioniert. Da der gegebene Barcode nicht einlösbar war.

Alles sehr ärgerlich
Wir hatten uns auf die guten Bewertungen verlassen.
Diese kommen wohl nur zu stande durch die Aufforderungen der Rezeption seine Bewertung zu schreiben und vorzuzeigen, dann gibt es auch einen Gratis Cocktail.

Bei der Abreise wurde uns erzählt viele hätten sich beschwert, und ja man müsse was ändern.
Trotzdem werden wir dieses Hotel nicht mehr besuchen.

We loved our stay at the Rhein Hotel. Rooms are gorgeous and the location is amazing, it’s right on the River. There’s a restaurant and bar under the hotel which is great. It’s very close to the city centre and there lots of restaurants and bars in walking distance. The main train station is a 10 minute walk. A lovely buffet breakfast is offered two doors down at the Lowenbrau hotel. An extensive range of hot and cold food. We would definitely stay again.

This is the second but last time I stay at this hotel.

First of all, we had to wait 15 minutes at 7:30pm on Monday evening for someone to come to the reception and do the check in.

We had 6 rooms, each for 2 nights and paid around 370 Euros per room per night. Still, the rooms and bathrooms were barely cleaned, the rooms were not tidied up after the night (pics attached) and one of the guest requested that no one enters his room during the day found that his request was not kept. When we complained, there was practically no response other than “will report it”.

As of now, 15 hours after checking out, I still have not received my invoice by email.

Service is extremely poor and this hotel is not to be recommended.
