I rarely ever write bad reviews; however, in this case I feel that it is warranted. First the good points, the staff, specifically Kibert, Adda and Sara were all wonderful and if it were not for them , our stay would have been worse. So thank you to all of you for your excellent customer service.
The hotel is walking distance to the Plaza which is full of restaurants and bustle. A short walking distance from the Rhine River This hotel is quaint and has a nice breakfast and rooms are cute.
The bad staff, unfortunately, their beds are terrible, like sleeping on a bed when you were 15 years old. We switched rooms and the bed problem was worse!
The air conditioning does not stay on especially at night and it gets really hot. The internet also turns off in the middle of the night so if you listen to music , birds, etc, that can pose a problem. In the shower you have shampoo, conditioner and body all in one so I was not able to untangle my as they did not have conditioner. Their T.V. Has no English channels except BBC. They did offers movies and their HDMI connection did not work.
When I spoke the manager about all this, he was pretty non chalante about the whole thing!
We were travelling to Cologne for a trade show for business and stayed 6 days and had no sleep for 6 stays.
No compensation , no discounts no nothing for
The hotel to compensate our terrible stay.
Would I stay at CityClass Hotel again, Never!

Excellent boutique hotel with access to everything

I was traveling solo all around Germany and chose the CityClass Hotel based on its location. It's just steps from the Rhine riverfront with lots of nice restaurants and shops lining the boardwalk. It's easy to get to the Cologne Cathedral and many other attractions in Cologne. While my rooms was small (based on my selection), it was clean and quaint. The hotel faces a small courtyard and my window opened to it which was nice. I would highly recommend the CityClass Hotel am Heumarkt.

Nice Hotel

It was a bit confusing for us to find because you have to walk into a square but the hotel was lovely and very convenient. Lots of bars, restaurants and shopping nearby and the Christmas market was just around the corner. The parking wasn’t far but you do have to roll your luggage thru cobblestone streets which was a challenge in the rain. Other than that, would definitely stay again.

Fabulous location and beautiful room.

We stayed here on our last night in Europe after 2 weeks of travel. Front desk was super helpful and accommodating. Beautiful family room for all 4 of us and a wonderful way to get a great sleep before our long journey home to U.S. Great location with lots of restaurants and shops and historic cathedral nearby. Note- they no longer have laundry facilities on site. (Hotels.com website outdated). We walked 12 mins to laundromat. Easy to use.

The staff was incredible. When we found out there was a train strike, and would need to stay another night at the hotel unexpectedly on a very busy mostly sold out time, they immediately were able to reserve rooms at their hotel at a discounted rate! Hotel was so comfortable and great location!

Visited Köln for the Christmas markets and the property is pretty central to the markets, nightlife and only 15 mins from the Dom and station.
Friendly welcome on arrival to the property, we were given a map and instructions for times of breakfast, WiFi and also warned of the building works ongoing and it gets noisy from 8 until 3. It’s unavoidable and it’s not like you are going to be wasting time while you are there.
We had a double room that was spacious and clean. The bathroom was clean and of a good size. The shower is great BTW!!!
We opted for breakfast, there is a lot of choice and caters for everyone’s tastes as in our part there was a vegetarian and also someone with a nut and wheat allergy and we were all catered for. Breakfast gets very busy from 8.30-10am and it can be a bit fraught as some guests can be a little entitled. The staff have a lot of patience.
We slept well in the comfortable beds and the duvets were nice and warm and the rooms were quiet.
Check out was easy and there is a room to store your cases if like us you had a later flight.
We had a good stay and would recommend the property and would happily stay again.

It is nice that the room has 5 beds which our kids can have each own bed. All amenities work properly. Great location that we can walk to the Cologne Cathedral. Mark and Mai both receptionists are helpful and friendly. It would be nice if the breakfast was included.

Cologne is a stunning city! Our stay at CityClass Hotel Caprice am Dom was very nice. The front desk staff was so very friendly. The room was a good size, very clean, with a great location in town, close to everything!

Very helpful and friendly reception staff. Room a little on the small side. Great bathroom with rainforest head. WiFi also good. Comfortable and clean. Excellent location for old town, cathedral etc. Parking reduced rate at Neumarket public parking (underground) €12 per night. Would stay again highly recommended

Great hotel, but don’t count on wifi of TV

The property is well located in the city center. Just a few minutes walk from the Dom. We loved the balconies and the breakfast was delicious. Front desk staff wasn’t exactly willing to go out of their way to help. Our TV didn’t work. Wifi was weak at best when it worked. We gave up on it. The room and bathroom were beautiful, but when we used the rainshower shower head, the bathroom flooded. So we used the towels we had to clean up the mess. We left the towels on the floor hoping that they would be replaced with clean towels. Nope, the maid hung the dirty towels up and that’s what we had for the rest of our stay. We were shocked.

Because of the location and aesthetic, we wanted to be able to recommend this place to family and friends. We also wanted to return again. But, no TV and no wifi may be a deal breaker.

We only staid 1 night but the location right in the middle of everything my only complaint was for breakfast we paid for breakfast and there was barely any food and nothing to drink the staff kept walking by and looking at the empty containers

Great Option in Old Town Cologne!

Nice modern hotel with great location in the middle of Cologne, but tucked away on a quaint and quiet internal plaza. The bed was surprisingly comfortable by European standards and the staff super affable.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! WORSE service, no one smiled even once. Smell of rotten cheese at area. Exprience was like in alt hostel from 80s. Rooms are tiny also soooo old deco.

The hotel location is very good, checkin was quick and easy, the service was all over the day.
However, the air condition was not good at all, so for staying there in August was too hot during the night. Also the bed and the pillow was not comfortable although it was big enough for two. The WiFi was awful. It connects but no service.

Renovated rooms in good location

Recently renovated room that was comfortable and quiet. Mini fridge was stocked with free sparkling. Hotel is on a nice square in the Old Town, so location was great. Only issue was the bathroom smelled a bit moldy / foul. Otherwise room was very clean and service was very friendly.

This property was situated in a very convenient area for tourists interested in the Christmas markets in Cologne. It was right in the old historic area, but there are some party streets very close by which resulted in loud revellers walking by the hotel on Friday night which you can hear from the lower floor rooms. The room we stayed in was very small, and had a weird bathroom configuration that resulted in the whole bathroom floor being covered in water when you wanted to take a shower, as there was no shower door, just a simple wall dividing the shower from the toilet. The bathroom included wall-mounted soap and shampoo dispenser, no conditioner. The room was for two people, so it was two twin-sized beds pushed together with two duvet covers, the duvets were pretty linty. Pillows were inadequate, the fill was not very comfortable. The hotel has a tiny elevator which felt very claustrophobic. The breakfast selection was decent but not very exciting. It included staples like eggs, bacon, sausage, cold cuts and cheese, cereals, fruit, milk and coffee, etc. Staff were friendly and spoke English. Overall, I don't think I got the value for my money, though I appreciated the convenient location.

Nice Hotel in great location

The hotel is situated in a small quiet square off Heumarkt which gives quick and easy access to both the riverside and bars in the city. Even with a ground floor room, it was very quiet.

Perfect location for Christmas markets

Walking down from the station I was a little nervous as it felr like we were going to the middle of nowhere. However, once we checked in, to a fantastic room, we went to find old town market and it was on our doorstep! A perfect location for a christmas market break. We would go there again!

Best christmas markets in Germany.

Excellent location for christmas markets. Hotel revamp is very good. 2 not so good points. No free drinks facilities eg kettle in room or complimentary drinks machine. Bathroom revamp is hopeless when you have a shower. Everthing is wet through even the toilet paper. So make sure you go before your shower. Breakfast though is excellent for cereals,juices,pastries and fryup.
