Unfortunately the hotel was undergoing some major work to the lobby, bar and restaurant areas along with fitting new carpets in the hallways. It’s a good hotel and we will be back but as a small hotel, work in communal areas have a big knock on impact on our enjoyment of the hotel.

Upon arrival we didn't receive a friendly welcome from the lady behind the desk however the location and the cleanliness was impressive. The biggest issue that I reported yet was not dealt with was the horrendous noise coming from the drainage keeping us awake on both nights. The other issues were the lumpy pillows and the fact that room service insist on walking in the rooms when we hadn't even checked out, why don't they check if the room has checked out before doing so.. The hotel looks well but if you can't sleep at night due to the noise then what's the point in sleeping there, very frustrating that's this was reported to the hotel and Hotels.com yet nothing done.

Had a lovely stay everything was nice walkable distance to shops. Room was stuffy at times and air con took a while to cool me down as it was quite sunny weather conditions. Bed was huge was expecting a single but it was king sized so that was ok. TV had BBC and itv channels so I could even watch Match of the Day! Stay was good only minor detractors and these are extremely minor I may add were the lack of coffee in room and reception. Although when asked I was allowed to use the breakfast coffee machine which was lovely. Also when cleaners came round I was in an out all day and they only got to my room when I got back did give me some coffee though so that was a bonus. There was also so small bleachy staining to corridor carpet. This is being extremely nit picky had a lovely stay easy to check in after a stressful journey just wanted to eat in the hotel restaurant but it was not available that would have made my night a lot less challenging as my daughter was upset at having to go out for food on top of all the stresses of a first foreign visit and flight.

The room was lovely with a large shower. YouTube was available on the TV. I loved the art in the room, especially the mural on the shower.

I liked the location of the hotel. Most attractions can be reached on foot from the hotel. It’s right on the Rhine too, which was lovely to look out onto every day. Breakfast and the service was excellent. Great choice of continental or cooked breakfasts. Staff on reception were always friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend.

Got downgraded on arrival despite paying in advance. Reception said they couldn’t refund difference. Got 2 free drinks at the bar as compensation.

This is a great hotel, very convenient for visiting the Christmas markets. We enjoyed their touch of coffee and water available and some gluhwein occasionally. Only complaint was our room description- 1 bedroom suite in every other hotel we’ve stayed in has meant a separate room for sleeping and this is what we expected as we were travelling with 2 older teen boys. In fact, it was just a single room. The only difference being a sleeper couch at the end of the bed for the boys. So, all a bit crowded but we made it work for the few days of our stay. One lift out of order meant long lines for the lifts daily. Luckily we were on the first floor so used the stairs where we could. We didn’t have breakfast included so visited local bakeries to buy breakfast most days. But we did treat ourselves to breakfast one day and the food was fresh, plentiful and varied. Underground car park was useful and convenient. Would stay again.

The only advantage of this hotel is the location. But trust me, you are better off elsewhere. The hotel advertises they have parking. They don’t. They are located in proximity to the busiest parking lot that they advertise as their own. This means your chances of parking even remotely close to the hotel are literally nil. Moreover, they don’t even have a proper space to unload suitcases out of the car. Property is completely mismanaged. Staff is underpaid and spends their time on the phone or smoking. Getting help is next to impossible. Random things go missing from a room. Not valuables, just random stuff. Two tiny elevators for the entire hotel with only one functioning. A person in a wheelchair was waiting for more than 30 minutes to get downstairs. In short don’t let the convenient location and attractive price fool you. Your stay will be ruined.

I would not recommend the hotel however, the proximity to town was good. They should replace everyone who works here.

This hotel was amazing. The views were great from our room of the Rhine river and Cologne itself. The staff were incredible and so welcoming. The hotel was clean and looks amazing inside and out. The accessibility for wheelchairs is great. Getting to each floor is easy, in room accessibility was great and accessible shower was brilliant. There is a button on the outside of the door near the main entrance where you can press it and someone will come out and meet you and activate the lift for you. The drinks service was also great but can't comment on food as we didn't eat there.

Front checkin very efficient on arrival. However would have liked assistane with bags up steps at front of hotel. Damp smell in room on arrival. On second night returned late to find silverfish crawling on bed and in bathroom. Room was not serviced on first morning and was told this was because we had not requested it. No handwash in bathroom. Carpets in corridor leading to room and in room filthy with heavy staining. Breakfast buffet and staff in dining room very good. However my partner has dietary requirements and had omelette for breakfast on three mornings. However it was not available to order on the final day. The stay was a gift from our children and on arrival we settled our local taxes bill. When we arrived back to our room on the third evening our keycard was not working. I went to reception and obtained a replacement. However when I arrived back at the room, I was told that I immediately needed to go to reception and settle my local taxes bill of €60.00. I explained that I had discharged it on arrival. The caller said that I had to immediately go there and the manager insisted it settled immediately. When I got there the first person said I owed €60.00 for an upgrade and the manager said it was €60 per night total €240!! As I could not contact my family immediately, I had to pay or I could not access my room. The manager put his hands in the air and left me with the receptionist to pay. I paid but was very disappointed with the overall cost of over €1600.00.

The cleaners of our room weren’t great, we had empty glasses from the bar that were just left for 3 days and used coffee cups weren’t replaced.

The only reason I did not give this property 5 stars is because both times I have stayed there in summer, their air conditioning system is not even worth running, it does not cool down the rooms at all. It was very hot and humid making it very difficult to sleep comfortably, in fact on some days the room was hotter inside with the air conditioner going that it was outside.

Disabled Parking Nightmare!!!
I contacted the hotel prior to our stay, to inform them I would require disabled parking, the lady was very helpful and explained that although parking is normally 25euros per day (for the public and guests), it is free for those who provide a disabled badge. Upon arrival at the hotel we presented our disabled badge, and explained we were ready to book in, the man at desk insisted we park in the car park before getting booked in, he said we would have to phone the front desk whenever we wish to enter or leave the car park. (the foyer was empty at this point). We got parked then returned to the front desk to book in, a queue of 4 groups had formed, although we attempted to get served first, as we had already been there, the staff insisted we go to the back of the queue and wait. Throughout our stay there was constant mis-communication about the parking arrangements, which meant waiting for extended periods of time to enter the car park, inadvertently blocking drivers coming and going and being told we needed to pay by members of staff who had not been updated on the hotel policy. This constant frustration really ruined what should have been a relaxed time away, especially as two of my party suffer with disabilities. I wouldn't describe this hotel as \"disabled friendly\". Upon arriving in our room I found a small silver fish bug crawling on the wall above the bed and the facia of there toilet flush button was hanging off but still functioned. Overall the room quality was fine.

Originally given a double room when a twin was booked, told by staff I hadn't booked a double (when I had), though it was dealt with it was made to feel like a massive inconvenience for the member or staff. Conveniently located next to the harbour and an easy walk to everywhere in the city. Only down side was the hotel parking garage was full so we had to park else where in the city.

Just stayed at the artòtel for 2 nights with a group of 18 of us visiting the Christmas markets. Great hotel, centrally located to the town (10 /15 min walk) and a visit to the cathedral is a must. Great facilities at the hotel, fantastic breakfast and the rooms were very clean and spacious. I was given an upgrade due to the celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary ao that was a nice touch. Overall a great experience and would definitely recommend. Oh and the boat ride on the River is a must which is easily accessible around a 100 yards down from the hotel.

Above and beyond is what I have to say. I had trouble with my excessively large rental car and Julia from reception literally got in the vehicle and helped me navigate through the city and park it. She was so kind and helpful, I was very grateful for her empathy and willingness to help. The rest of the reception and hotel staff were very kind and courteous, and I received help from reception the next day to exchange my rental vehicle. It is a nice and clean hotel, with lovely views, and I had a great stay.

My room was not ready at the time of check-in, being that it was almost 6 pm. Parking was a mess, it was off-property, although on-site parking was advertised. Moreover, on the second day, no one cleaned my room, not even clean towels. When I went to the front desk, they only offered me two drinks, as if that made up for what I paid for the room. The hotel is very beautiful and the staff is friendly. However, hotel logistics need to be improved.

Smart, clean, convenient hotel opposite the Chocolate Museum and on the banks of the Rhine. The staff are friendly, efficient and attentive. The rooms are spacious, modern and clean. The only quibble is that the sink is outside the bathroom - I don’t know why because the room is large enough to have a bigger bathroom? A very good choice of hotel if you don’t mind a 10-15 minute walk into the centre, but the walk does take you along the river front. A very enjoyable weekend at this hotel in a great city.
