We were greeted with a smile and wonderful service. Parking was available for €7 per night. A lift took us up to the 4th floor. Our room was adequate. Enough space for two large suitcases. All was clean. Very impressed. Breakfast was amazing. All was there for a full breakfast if wanted and the staff were very attentive. The position of the hotel was perfect. About 10 minutes walk from the Dom. Hop on Hop off bus. Restaurants 5 minutes walk. Very pleased with our choice. As all hotel with great service. Highly recommend.

Staff were friendly and helpful. The room had no aircon, very stuffy and after we had a shower it was very hot and humid as there was no extractor fan in the bathroom. Being on the ground floor we did not Feel safe leaving the window open. Very good breakfast with a good selection

Other reviewers said that this hotel is tired and in need of refurbishment. Absolutely true. It OK, but not great. everything looks a little worn out.
Beds are really comfy though, and the shower is excellent. Food is mediocre, unless you only eat fruit - there was a lot of fruit! Staff were friendly, in particular the older man on reception who was really helpful.

Lovely hotel in middle of Cologne. Very cozy with nice breakfast. But note that this hotel does NOT have air conditioner as advertised at Hotels.com They have a parking garage with extra cost but it's worth it.

Best customer service ever!
We stayed for two nights and wish all of the hotels on our 19 day vacation were even half as special. The service provided was exceptional. The lobby was warm and inviting. Fresh fruit : apples, oranges, apricots, and kiwi was there for the taking. The breakfast was included in the very reasonably priced room rate. The buffet included scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, 4 flavors of yogurt, breads, 6 cereals, freshly brewed coffee, and too many to count fruit offerings.
The free parking was across the street in an underground lot not open to the public.
The only drawback was the lack of air conditioning. The weather was hot and humid at night, but opening the window made sleeping possible.

Great little hotel
The rooms were comfortable with one bed. Room was small but cozy, a renovation with new carpet would go a long way. The breakfast was 5 star breakfast in a 3 star hotel. It was excellent!!

Amazing breakfast
We stayed here on our way to Prague to break the drive from the UK. The hotel was basically for a night's sleep, however we walked to the Dom & had dinner in Cologne near the river. The breakfast was one of the best I've ever had in a hotel & was amazing with its choices of juices, smoothies, selection of hot & cold foods.

A wonderful boutique hotel in a great location near the Dom. The lobby and breakfast features bins of fresh fruits.

A real bad experience.
Our stay was really uncomfortable. It's true that we reserved for the economy room, but we got the most horrible room in all the hotel, just behind the reception and with a mirror to the street. On the other hand, somebody in the reception was smoking and we could smell all the cigarette. Also the bed was not good, because apparently is old. The TV does not have any channel in English, so if you do not know German, is impossible to understand. Finally you can wake up very very early because you can hear all the people that starts to breakfast at 7 am.

Hotel is approximately 10 minutes walk from the Koln (Colone) main station and only 2 minutes from underground station.
Staff are very friendly and have a good command of English.

The first room I checked into (late, around 10pm) was the dreaded room 40. It's basically a cupboard right behind reception and is the worst room I think I've ever stayed in. Noisy, hot, cramped, and the only window leads right onto the street, so you can't open it for fear of being robbed in the middle of the night!
The next day some people had checked out and I got a decent room on the 3rd floor that had a fan! Thank you Cerano Hotel for moving me, this made the remaining 5 nights bearable. The room was basic, but the bed was comfy and although the bathroom was almost comically small, I was only there to sleep and shower in the morning, so it was fine.
The hotel offers a complimentary continental breakfast, which is decent - some nice meats and cheeses, and some lovely bread. Their coffee is very good, too.
It really is just a B&B though at the end of the day - no bar, no gym, and no frills. You sleep there, you have breakfast there if you're in a rush, and that's it. On the plus side, the cathedral (the Dom) is no more than a three minute walk from the B&B, and that's where you'll find the main group of bars and restaurants. Oh, and if you fancy something non-German, there's a gem of a British pub called Jameson's about a 2 minute walk from the front door of the Cerano B&B: the air con is working overtime, and the food is fantastic.
Overall: if you need a bed, there can be worse places (like room 40!), but it really is absolutely zero frills.

The hotel looks a bit run down from its appearance. The carpet and wall paper needs some rework. But they have very spacious and spotless bathrooms! The breakfast buffet was huge too. Staff was friendly and attentive.

I didn't even stay there that night. I reserved a double bed for the night through hotel.com. The worker at the front desk apologized for accidently booking a vacant double bed when there was only a single bed available.

Decent hotel in a good location
For various reasons, I unwittingly ended up scheduled to arrive in Cologne on 11th November, the start of Carnival, which meant that room availability was at a real premium. The Cerano was one of the few places with availability, though extremely overpriced compared to their normal rates. Price aside, it was a pleasant enough hotel - good location an easy walk from the station, friendly staff, and a room that met my requirements. The only downers were that there was no light switch near the bed, the wifi didn't seem to remember the passcode as well as it perhaps should have, and you needed separate wifi passcodes for each device. The breakfast room was also pretty small but that wasn't a problem as there were never more than a handful of people in it when I used it.

Only one night, but wished I'd had longer. It was unexpectedly good for the money. Breakfast excellent and plentiful. Room comfortable and very clean. Staff helpful. 10 min walk to the Cathedral and main centre,museums etc. Car parking at hotel in locked garage (for a fee).I'll go again.

This hotel is in a very good location, the breakfast is really good, the rooms are very very comfortable. It's not a 5 stars hotel but I felt very good with receptionist who didn't speak english but was very very friendly and helpful. Great hotel, I would definitely stay there again.

I wanted to a base to explore the tourist areas of Cologne knowing I would be eating out every night - this was about getting a decent bed and breakfast, close to the main tourist sights, at a competitive price, in a neighbourhood that was safe and quiet - in those respects this hotel was perfect
What made this so good was that the owners obviously cared about their hotel, as an example they offered free fruit and drinks at anytime of day and their breakfast was outstanding in terms of choice and quality.
The hotel is tucked away on a side street but in the business district, it's 10 mins walk to the rail station, river and cathedral. I don't think you could ask for more. I had the windows open all night and there was no noise to speak off - very quiet (I was there at a weekend so maybe it was busier during the week?)

Cerano, Cologne - small but great value
We needed a triple room for our band as a one night stop-gap between England and Berlin. The hotel was very central, about a 5 minute walk to the high street, the parking was secure although not free, the room was big enough for us and very clean. Towels and flannels were provided for all of us and the breakfast was very varied and all fresh.

I mean, beds unmade, trash on the floor, etc. We're pretty laid back and wanted to grab some lunch anyway, so my friends and I told the man at the front desk that the room still needed to be cleaned and that we would be back in a few hours. He said sorry and that it would be no problem.
Imagine our surprise when we get back and the room is exactly how we left it. We went back down and told the man, and he started to call every housecleaner and explain the situation. After waiting for the whole ordeal, he finally just gave us another room, but we did have to wait about 45 minutes , for no reason. We were also not offered anything, and barely got an apology.
Overall, I would probably not stay here again, unless it got cheaper, and it was the only hotel room available again during Karneval...

De kamers zijn wat verouderd, maar het bed is goed, het is schoon, de ontvangst is super vriendelijk. Het ontbijt is uitgebreid en erg goed. Op loopafstand van de Dom, 5 minuten. Parkeren in de garage van het hotel. Zeer goede prijs/kwaliteit.

The rooms are small and a bit outdated. But in return you get a competitive price and a very good breakfast. We even got freshly squeezed orange juice. There was no noise. If you payed attention to it, you could hear the subway. There are lots of parking garages nearby. You will always find a free spot in one of them. The hotel also offers pakings spots, but you can find less expensive if you are willing to walk a few blocks.

Zentrumnahes Hotel in ruhiger Gegend
Für einen Wochenendtrip nach Köln ist das Hotel optimal. Zimmer sehr klein aber ausreichend wenn man sonst unterwegs ist. Gleich gegenüber ist ein Parkhaus mit angemieteten Plätzen gegen Bezahlung. Innerhalb 10 Minuten ist man am Dom. Sehr ruhige Gegend, tolles Frühstück.

Sehr zuvorkommendes Personal. Sehr gutes Frühstück und liebevoll angerichtet mit vielen frischen Säften. Die Lage ist gut und das Vorhandensein einer Tiefgarage ist perfekt zu einem günstigen Preis. Das Hotel ist eher einfach ausgestattet. Das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis ist aber absolut in Ordnung.

Friendly and helpful staff. Walking distance to shopping, restaurants and bars. The furnishings is hideous in the way it's so out of date. And I don't understand why they had like 200 oranges in the lobby? But we could laugh about it. Breakfast was alright, they had all the basic stuff, but everything was room temperature: yogurt, fruit, butter, scrambled eggs etc. Nothing was heated or chilled. Lots of fruit flies. Room was decent size and okay clean, some spider web in the ceiling but bedlinen and towels were clean. The hotel really should get an update. The location, the size and the staff is worth it but is dragged down by the oh so worn hotel. I will probably try another hotel next time I'm in Cologne. I won't recommend this hotel, but I would definitely not dissuade anyone either. It's nothing wrong really, it's just not a \"nice hotel\".

Überraschend ruhiges Zimmer quasi neben dem Dom. Zimmer selbst sauber, wenn auch (baulich bedingt) relativ klein. Gutes Frühstück mit viel Liebe zum Detail. Freundliches / hilfsbereites Personal. bei nächsten Stop in Köln gern wieder.

Nettes, kleines Hotel (kurzer Weg zum Dom) in zentraler Lage (gebührenpflichtige Tiefgarage auch für größere PKW geeignet) mit sehr freundlichem und hilfsbereitem Personal. Die komfortablen Zimmer sind nicht sehr groß aber gemütlich. Unglaublich nette Dame kümmert sich um ein perfektes, liebevoll gestaltetes, großartiges Frühstücksbuffet (mit ausgesprochener guter reichhaltiger Auswahl, Mini Smoothies, kleinen Schüsseln mit Früchten, alle Varianten von Joghurt und Müsli, Gebäck, Brotvarianten, Käse, Wurst, Rühreier mit Schinken, Speck, Spiegeleier, gebratene Würstchen, Früchte und vieles mehr - von Ananas bis zur Olive ... ). Für einen Köln-Besuch sehr gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis.

Die Bilder auf der Internetseite von den Zimmern entsprechen nicht annähernd der Realität. Wir hatten ein Doppelzimmer gebucht,welches ca. 8 Quadratmeter hatte. 3m lang und 2,5m breit !!!! Ich würde sagen in dem Zimmer wird nach einer Belegung grob gesaugt und die Betten bezogen. Unterm Bett ungelogen 2 cm Staub,genauso auf Telefon und Fernseher,sodass man darauf schreiben konnte. Die Zahnputzbecher klebten auf der Glasablage fest und es gab, sage und schreibe 3 Kosmetiktücher!!!!! Das Servicepersonal war sehr freundlich. Beim Frühstück gab es alles was man möchte,allerdings müsste einiges kühl gestellt werden,denn Joghurt oder Fruchtsäfte sind warm nicht so lecker.

Vi ville ha ett billigt hotell eftersom vi skulle anlända på eftermiddagen och åka vidare tidigt på morgonen dagen efter.
Det var frukt överallt tom i hela lobbyn i och med var det också fruktflugor överallt. Vi hade ett rum som låg mellan receptionen och hissen. Det var 35 grader ute men man kunde inte ha fönstret öppet pga. att det var på markplan (alla som går förbi på trottoaren kan se in i rummet). Så eftersom det var så lyhört så var det som att sova i en tältsäng direkt i lobbyn(eller på trottoaren.. valfritt).
Det var väldigt solkigt i badrummet och rummet var så litet så det knappt fick plats en dubbelsäng ändå hade de klämt in ett stort bord i hörnet. Dock var sängen mjuk men kändes inte värst fräsch. Frukosten var hysterisk, det yrde av flugor när man lyfte på något. Man blev tilldelad en egen kaffekanna vilket är trevligt. Men kaffet var så blaskigt att det var odrickbart. Det var trevligt med fruktsallad och olika typer av yogurths men mjölkprodukterna stod lite här och där i olika ikeahyllor hela morgonen utan någon kylanordning.

Super tolle Betten, man hatte das Gefühl auf den Wolken zu schweben. Das Frühstück war auch klasse und die ganzen Früchte zum mitnehmen waren eine tolle Geste. Der Service war super nett und die Lage ist klasse. Man ist direkt im Geschehen aber trotzdem sehr ruhig gelegen in einer Seitenstraße. Einfach klasse. Das nächste Mal kommen wir wieder. Vielen Dank.
