My room was spacious. However, the bed was not comfortable and the pillows are horrible. I woke up with severe pain in my right shoulder and neck due to the pillow not giving support. Went to an urgent care and rhey gave me a pinched nerve diagnosis.

The WiFi there is the worst I have ever experienced. My room was also street facing. There are several nighclubs across the street so the street noise was loud and I had to use ear plugs.

Lastly, no housekeeping. Inwas jnformed I have to order it. Inwas not informed of this during check in. Would not recommend.

Convenience, from the Central Station you take Train #5 two short stops and then hotel a 3 minute walk, and a great supermarket . Once in the hotel , very stylish. They give you bottles of water for the room,still or with bubbles.
The one disappointment, which happens frequently, is that they have next door another property with a gym/spa and as seein in the photo of the entrance where the word HOTEL is, thats a doorway you don;t use but its likely a home for the homeless or just where they go and urinate. They are unable to do anything about this, and they don;t think to wash the area daily.

Unsafe. Was assaulted right outside of the hotel, right before walking into the hotel entrance. The the front desk clerk refused to help and said it wasn’t his problem, so police was called. I was injured with visible blood on me and staff receptionist just said I can go back into my hotel room to clean up and said they won’t be doing anything about the incident. I gave police my information and from my understanding a police report was filed. Furthermore, this hotel lacks basic security like anyone can walk inside the hotel, access the elevator, and get right up to the guest rooms. The area around the hotel is full of broken glass.

There are multiple stairs before you get to the lobby. If you have a lot of luggage it is very difficult to get your luggage up. The staff member at reception who was doing nothing saw me struggling and didn’t even offer to help. He was also quite rude. And even though two of us had checked in, there was only one towel for the two of us in the bathroom. Besides that the only available parking is across a very busy street and that is not listed when you’re looking the property up. The parking situation is terrible.

Great service at the front desk, they recommended some local restaurants and pubs to try during my stay. Room was very cool! A bit of a maze to get to, but it had a lovely view and was very cozy. I wish I could’ve stayed longer!

The hotel is in a great location for bars and restaurants. Brauhaus Paeffgen (a favourite) is minutes away. The Dom and Hbf are a 15-20 minute walk away.
The hotel is clean, our room was spacious, though some of the decor is a little tired.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was tasty.
I would stay again.

It was a horrible experience. The picture what I booked and what I have been offered was completely different. The room for about 172€ (tourist tax) should not be that outdated and if you book a non-smoking room then the room should not smell that level. I could not sleep entire night. Smell was just terrible. I didnt pay to get horrible Cologne holiday. I hope Expedia will take serious actions. I believe Expedia cares for its customers.

4star is a stretch - 3star at best. Location was good (20min walk from central station) and service was friendly enough. Room and decor is very tired. Room had a balcony, but not clean enough to use. Room had no bottled water or tea/coffee making facilities as advertised. Air conditioning was not really effective and room was uncomfortably warm at night. Hotel bar was not in use and we did not use the restaurant so cannot comment on that. Well situated for downtown and Belgian quarter, plenty of food/drink options. Additional local tax was charged on checkout, despite being included on the Expedia invoice. Was a last minute booking, and fair value, but wouldn't stay again.

Reasonably priced hotel located about 15/20 minutes from the Dom. Very friendly and helpful guy on reception. Helped us book a Covid test and was generally very professional. Room was spacious, a little dated in decor but no problem there. Didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment on that. Overall an enjoyable stay.

Lovely friendly hotel in central area. Very near metro but also walkable to city. Breakfast excellent value, staff friendly. Bar is quiet but with many bars nearby there is no need.

Ascot is a hotel in a good location for us, as we needed to be near Im Mediapark. Lots of eating and drinking places nearby. The service was good. Sascha was amazing, and gave us fantastic recommendations for Koln. We felt at home. Thanks Sascha!

House keeper was rude, kept knocking on door and did not tidy up room the first day, the 2nd day, she did not refill toilet and tissue paper and threw away my contact lenses and shower cap.

The photos for this place looked great, however, the room we got was apparently not updated like the rooms on the website. The decor was totally different and the bed frame had holes in it where something had apparently been screwed in but had fallen off. The night stand had a front wooden piece that fell apart at the touch. When we checked in we received a key card, only to get to our room and find a lock that required a regular key. The original key card lock had been removed and an older door knob was in its place. The room was ugly, the place was loud from other people, and the street was loud outside too. It comfortable enough if you’re in town on business and are a heavy sleeper but it’s nothing special.

This was an OK hotel because i had the minimums required for the two-day days in köln. I was extremely disappointed with the wi-Fi as it was limited sake mate thats god awful...second there werent no fridge in the hotel mate I have been in hostel that have had a fridge, were we in the 16th century Ascot? ...ok well my rant is over just like my stay...

I have nothing bad to say about this hotel. Great staff, always ready to accommodate, no matter what we were asking for. Wonderfully comfortable beds, clean air-conditioned rooms. This hotel is conveniently situated: it's close enough to the train station, and only a 9 minutes walk from the city center. Wonderful restaurants in the area, all less than 7 minutes away.

The hotel is in a perfect location. You can walk almost everywhere if you want to stay in the city. I stayed for two nights and every morning someone was trying to get to my room the first morning it was technical guys and the second it was cleaners at 8am. I complained about the first night and another morning I had the cleaners. I feel like they are a bit disorganized. Also there is a weird smell in the hallway. I visited this hotel because I was at a fair and the prices were far too high for what you get but I guess it's a normal price during this busy time in Cologne. Would I come back? Probably no. The room was clear and comfortable but not very warm.

The hotel is in a great location, near Friesenplatz, and close to dozens of restaurants and bars. Great night life in the surrounding area. A 2-minute walk from the Friesenplatz U-Bahn, which is directly connected to HBF (Central Station) by U-Line 5.
The hotel looks grand from the outside. The room was a bit small but I guess that's standard for most European hotels.
The front desk personnel were nice and friendly.

It was so so. Very friendly reception. But the cable connecting to TV was not connected so no TV signal. The receptionist said to wait until the next day for technician to fix it. But my stay was for only one night. My room was facing street so very noisy with the the bars open until 3-4am in the morning.

Not worth what they charge at all.

the room was on a main roads with lots of clubs so noisy all the time. The room wasn't clean, there were blobs of dried food on the coffee table. They gave you one super thin pillow, mine had a mysterious stain on. The downstairs lobby was decorated nicely but the room felt shabby, lots of random holes in the walls. They didn't replace towels/toilet roll we had to keep calling to ask.

There was a guy at reception who just wasn't very friendly he just gave us our keys and pointed no offer of a map or wifi or info on breakfast etc.

Location was good for getting round but is definitely stay somewhere else in that area next time.

There is a night club directly across the street. Depending on the luck of the draw, you might be awoken by police or ambulance vehicles (with their siren) coming to the night club at 3AM. Otherwise this is a fine hotel.

In Cologne to see Queen + Adam Lambert at the RheinEnergie Stadium. The hotel staff were very friendly particularly the first young lady I met at reception. Helped sort trams and directions to the stadium. So helpful. I had to spend quite a bit of time in the room and the one major complaint was that for a hotel which has international guests there was only one tv channel in English and that was the US channel CNBC which is just news!

I went to this hotel for a 3 night stay while I visited tourist attractions in Colonge.
I was very happy with the hotel, the staff where friendly and approachable, all spoke very good English which was good for me as I quickly found out my German wasn't as good as assumed it was!
I found the hotel was in a convenient location, I guess older people might have difficulty walking into the old town area from their, but they cN probably afford a taxi, or hop on the near by underground station. The breakfast at the Hotel was really nice, I enjoyed the good choice on offer and I was entirely satified with it.
My only slight grumble was that the wifi didn't seem all that great but that's only compared to my super fast fiber wifi at home.

It is not right next to the centre (if you class this as the cathedral) but is a nice walk down to it. However those who can't walk far couldnt stay in this hotel (though we didn't test the public transport within in the city). Receptionists all spoke very good English and we're very friendly and helpful.

What to expect from the Ascot

Located in the party district of cologne, it had many things to do within walking distance.
The room had EXCELLENT noise blocking windows.
Breakfast was very good with both local and standard foods.
Conveniently located to the subway and a small market right across the street.
NO Irons! But they did have a \"trouser press\"......not so good there.
The room was small, but comfortable. Fridge, TV worked fine. There was a wardrobe for clothes and the Bathroom was clean, bright and functional.
The single room I had saw small, but they say to expect that from European hotels.

Overall, I could be picky about the Ascot, but the staff made up the difference.

A Comfy Little Place to Stay in Köln

Two subway stops away from the train station, right on a main line - and only a few hundred feet from the door. Plenty to do in the immediate area: plenty of nice restaurants, bars, cafes, etc. Very easy to get everywhere else you'd want to be in the city.

That being said, be forewarned: this is an old-school, small, European hotel. If you want hot and cold running service and an all-day restaurant and bar ... go elsewhere. The rooms are cozy and pleasant, breakfast is very good (but it's a German breakfast ... just fair warning to Americans who can't tolerate anything that isn't American), and overall it's a quiet and pleasant place to stay.

Nice quiet hotel in the middle of the night life.

I was just visiting for the weekend. It was close to many restaurants and bars. There are parking garages across the street from the hotel. 16 euros per day. I looked at the workout room but I didn't get a chance to use it. It had a good selection of equipment. The hotel staff speak English and were very friendly and helpful. The only problem I had was that the wifi didn't work on the second day of my stay. Room was large, bed was conformable, and the bathroom was very nice and modern. Great hotel for the price.

I primarily selected this hotel for its convenient location on the Ring. There are lots of bars, restaurants in this area. The hotel lies a relatively short (5 minutes max) walk from the Friesenplatz U-Bahn station. The staff are friendly and polite. The rooms have a horse racing themed decor to them (hence the name of the hotel), which comes off quite well - although is a little dated. The rooms are clean.

Ideal location for Christmas Markets

This hotel is located very centrally. It was especially convenient to get to by the underground system, just two stops from the main station. The rooms are a lovely size, and well equipped with coffee making facilities and even a minibar! The one downside was the breakfast, which on a Saturday did not have any fruit or cereal. Even so, there are plenty of kiosks and bakeries around so lots of choice for food. Highly recommend this hotel

Lovely atmosphere and super clean. There was nothing that I missed. There were even 'The White Company' products in the bathroom, whihc was a lovely touch. I did not have breakfast at the hotel so could not comment. Yes, it is in a busy area, but this is after all what Cologne is about and just what I was looking for. So if you would like to stay in a lovely hotel surrounded by plenty of cafes, restaurants and bars around you, this hotel is for you! Only 2 mins from public transport as well. I will definitely return.

We stayed at the Hotel Ameron for 2 nights in December on a trip to see the Christmas markets. We were at first a little apprehensive as it is on a main road and we were at the front, but we found there to be very little road noise and at only a 5 minute walk from the underground and around 25 minutes from the cathedral it was certainly convenient. The room was very spacious, we couldn't believe it when we found we had the second smallest! The beds were soft but not a problem with fresh linen every day and a good sized, very clean bathroom. They put on a continental breakfast in the morning with a wide selections of breads, meats, cheeses and pastries. We arrived hours before check-in and had a late flight out but they were more than happy to store our luggage for us, and allow us to sit for an hour in the lobby after check-out just to get out of the rain! Would thoroughly recommend.

Ameron Hotel Ascot

My mother and I stayed here for a pre-Christmas break. The room was large and clean with a a large and clean bathroom, including a bath. We liked the toiletries and tea chest. The staff were unfailingly helpful and provided us with extra pillows on request. Breakfast was excellent with a good range and friendly staff.
Yes, some parts of the decor could do with refurbishment, but it is clear work is being done to improve things.
The location was good with many restaurants nearby. Bars too, which we liked, but we imagine could get very noisy of a weekend. We visited Monday to Thursday, however, and after bed time had no complaints about street noise.
All in all, a good budget hotel which we recommend thoroughly.

Ameron Hotel Ascot - Cologne.

Very good hotel which is ideally placed for the Christmas Markets - being within walking distance of all of them. Friendly, knowledgeable staff and a pleasant ambience. Rooms are spacious with good facilities. Breakfast was excellent. HOWEVER, there are several night clubs very close by with the drumming beat and attendant noisy clientele from 6pm to 7am. Police sirens are a regular feature of the night. Whilst the hotel have done their best with double glazing, thick curtains and air conditioning, sleeping with any window even slightly open is impossible. My wife & I are heavy sleepers!!! Overall, an excellent hotel spoilt by the noisy environment, unless, of course, you are a lover of night clubs!

Good location in terms of closeness to the old town etc but very close to a couple of nightclubs so I'd recommend getting a room at the back if you can - though probably impossible at Karneval time when we were there! Otherwise, good clean spacious rooms (though the tvs need upgrading!) and friendly service with a top breakfast.

This hotel is very out dated; every steps, strange hallways you have to go through; room not good. Woudl not recommend.

Best Western Hotel Ascot

Nice large rooms for a European hotel. Our room had 2 small single beds. Our friends' room was a double bed which consisted of 2 single beds pushed together. Bathrooms were a nice size as well. Street side rooms were a bit noisy but it was easily drowned out by turning on the AC. Windows were double-paned glass. Request a room on the back side if you want to be assured of a totally quiet night. Breakfast was substantial and included eggs. Staff was very helpful with directions. Wireless internet could be slow. Hotel was very clean and well maintained. Good location for shopping and eating. Easy access to public transit.

Nice but noisy rooms at front of hotel.

This hotel was recommended to us by my brother who has stayed twice. We asked for a room at the back of the hotel as we were told front rooms were noisy but none was available. The room we were given was a lovely room but sadly the noise of the traffic and revellers kept us awake.

Der denkmalgeschützte Altbau ist liebenswert und familiär, das Personal äußerst zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit. Aber alles andere müsste dringend renoviert werden, vom desolaten Bad über die viel zu schweren Türen bis hin zum schweißtreibenden Bettzeug. Leider keine Empfehlung, es tut mir wirklich sehr leid!

Hotel sehr in die Jahre gekommen. Kein Wasserkocher oder eine Kaffeemaschine auf dem Zimmer.
Eingangsbeleuchtung im Zimmer defekt. Badbeleuchtung mangelhaft. Griff an der Duschtür innen fehlte.
Am Wochenende extrem laut. Nur mit geschlossenen Fenstern erträglich.
Gegenüber sind viele Nachtetablisments und entsprechend das Publikum. \"Zeigen\" gern \"ihre\" lauten V8- bis V12-Motoren bis in die Nacht.

Hurtig nem indtjekning, fik vores værelse 3 timer før oprindeligt indtjekning. Dog havde rengøringspersonalet glemt at tømme køleskabet fra tidligere gæster. Overordnet set et dejligt rummeligt og æstetisk værelse.

We chose this hotel be wise it was listed as pet friendly and with parking. Upon arrival we are told there is no parking and instructed to use a public parking one block away. The rooms are clean but shabby and in need of an update, lacking any kind of amenities apart from a bed, tv and bathroom. The next morning we are greeted by a female member of staff telling us we cannot bring our dog to the breakfast room. We ask her for a solution and after a while she agrees to us having breakfast in the bar next to the reception desk. Feeling quite disappointed in the situation, we raised the matter with the lady behind the reception desk. The lady proceeded to tell us the hotel “allows pets” but is not pet friendly, she also added we were not staying in a pet friendly room- not sure why. All in all the staff seemed pretty u professional and lacking in basic hospitality. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Siisti ja tilava huone. Kadun äänet ja viereinen yökerho kuului todella häiritsevästi sisälle ja vaikeutti unta. Kylpyhuoneen lamppu reistaili ja tv kaukosäädin ei toiminut. Sänky oli hyvä ja aamupala ok.
