Was skeptical about coming with the amount of bad reviews, we checked in Thursday 29th January and the staff was helpful and friendly, we struggled to find the room which was our own fault we did multiple laps of the hotel, we found it was clean , we we just a little outdated but nothing bad at all, the room itself was okay; they was a stain on the carpet , and the window didn’t open but other then that everything was okay, the hotel is in a good location close by to everything , and breakfast was okay we only went once but it was quiet a nice little area and all the staff we saw were friendly and nice, we checked out Saturday - we had an amazing stay and we would definitely come back and we reccomend this hotel! Do not listen to all the bad reviews we was really impressed , such good value for the money!

the breakfast room was full of rats under the food tables and we saw many come out for food when food was dropped on the floor everyday. room was also cold and heating wouldn’t go on any higher. bathroom small and no ventilation and evertime you shower there would be a puddle on the floor

Stairs everywhere, with lifts but only in some places. Not an issue for me to take 5-6 stairs but those with mobility issues should be wary.

The hoel could do with a bit of modernisation, particuarly the radiators. Thankfully the noise of the radiators drowned out most of the sound of some very inconsiderate guests banging on someones door very loudly at 2am. Breakfast was good but some scrambled eggs wouldnt go a miss! Be advised parking is limited and quite expensive

This was an absolutely terrible stay. The room was freezing cold, extremely noisy, dark, and smelled awful — truly disgusting conditions. The breakfast was terrible, and the staff behaved very rudely — waiters were throwing dishes, talking loudly, and even speaking aggressively toward me. The reception staff were unhelpful and unfriendly.

Definitely value for money with nice continental breakfast included. We booked the comfort room on top (5th) floor, comfortable beds, small shower, no air conditioning but the tilt window allows fresh air in, carpet needs replacing, walls freshly painted. Quaint hotel and staff were helpful.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel, it was basic, but clean, the beds were comfy. The rooms were tidied every day and towels replaced, when needed. The included breakfast was adequate. A good mix of fruit, cereal, meat, cheese and eggs. The staff were friendly and helpful. It’s really close to public transport and the shops. The only minor comment is the mixer tap should have a hot water warning sign as it got very hot, very quickly and scolded my hand. Overall a pleasant stay.

The room had absolutely no more than the bare necessities. The beds still had hairs and stains on them from the previous guests, and the hotel as a whole seemed very filthy. I found a used cleaning rag stuffed between my mattress and box spring. The pictures they have posted online look nothing like what the hotel is in person. I understand that hotels want their establishments to look nice, but the differences between online images and in-person experiences are stark and unsightly.

Very good area in very short walking distance (max 250 meters) to kiosks, restaurants, bars. 4.5 km from main Cologne train station, a 10-12 euro by Uber. Great price on BB rate, and excellent value for money. Not luxury, to say this, and maybe in need to change some carpets etc and improve minor details, but spotless clean, at least the room I had and what else we saw during a night stay. It exceeded my expectations after reading the bad reviews, but maybe they had changes in management and personnel. Most glad I would book it again if I need an overnight stay in that area in Cologne (2.5 km from University Hospital of Cologne).

Ruined Family holiday experience
We had the most horrific experience at this hotel. The room was without any form of ventilation. The only available had a sign that it was bad and not to be opened. The radiator was very hot with no temperature regulation. The Tv was not working, the bathroom was despicable with broken shower ( I made a video of it and can add it too if requested). I reported all the issues to the reception, though they saw reasons with me but said that they could do nothing, I requested for a change of room, was rejected but given information on hotel management email contact advised me to complain to about my experience which I did via email but got absolutely no response. We had a ruined family holiday experience.

On Arrival was told by the staff we hadn't paid for our room. produced our receipt for the stay, after 20mins of him being on the phone telling us we couldn't have a room key he someone else turned up and sorted it, (original guy) then swore at me and my husband. room was run down and very worn out, bathroom was very small, and had alot of mould, was extremely loud all day and night.

Check in is at 3pm! Thatnis super late. Upon arrival front desk person was very unprofessional. I was assigned a room that was not what I had reserved. I had reserved a queen size bed and this room had 2 twin beds together with a very thin bigger mattress holding them together. You could easily sink between the two beds. I went back to the front desk and showed that my reservation stated a \"queen size bed\". The front desk lady said she was busy and that she was working alone. She also said that she did not know which rooms had queen size beds bc she was new. I told her to call and ask housekeeping lady. She said she was too bisy and that she had other business she needed tot ake care off. She told.me to wait 20-30 minutes and then she could help me. I demanded her to give me the room I had paid for ASAP. I am a paying costumer that had been traveling for a long time and had to wait till 3pm to be checked in. I was not willing to wait another 30 minutes for her to finish whatever she was working on. After another 15 minutes I was moved to another room. This room was even smaller. Showe was extremely small even for one person. Whater splashes everywhere and floor gets soaked. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anybody. Definitely not worth the price!

I was nervous about booking this hotel based on the reviews but it far surpassed our expectations. All staff were very helpful, 24 hour reception, extensive free breakfast, lift, clean bedding and room, a safe and hair dryer in the room, very close to transport restaurants and supermarkets.
Only minor downside is no kettle in the room.
I would recommend this hotel to any and would definitely stay here again if I was in the city.

first of all the hotel in in the center of Koln and you have the Dome within a nice stroll. I chose that for a night stop traveling with my family. I know that it was not a luxury hotel but the level is out of the standards of the hotels listed by expedia. the price psyd for one night was indeed 340 euros for three.

They gave away our reserved room. Then they gave us a room that was a single bed which was not equivalent to a kind bed. Then they gave us a better room but had no hot water and the toilet didn’t flush well. Overall I would stay away from here and the reception was rude if you can only speak English.

It is located in a small street, its quiet and clean overall. Its easy to reach, 4 stops by bus from central station, and a 25 mins walk if you choose to do so. In 5-10 mins walking distance, there are a lot good restaurant and bar and grocery store. Will stay here again if visit the city again.

Having used this hotel many times before I emailed well in advance requesting and early check in and room at the front of the hotel which was ignored. When I arrived I was refused an early check in and told I was on the 5th floor and the lift was broken, refused to try and find an alternative room

The room was tired and worn the bed was 2 singles pushed together the light switches were at the head of the bed behind the pillows so when you moved you either switched them on or off.
There was no privacy as the window had to be wide open due to the intense heat the blind was attached to the velux style window so everyone in the building opposite could see in.
Hot water was temperamental. The shower was over a very high sided bath where the shower curtain only covered half so more often than not you flooded the bathroom when taking a shower.
I needed an Elastoplast and asked reception and was just told NO

I booked a three bedroom for me and my two friends between April 6th-11th, we arrived late on April 6th to book in and sue to a slight mistake we had to pay an extra €200 on top of the €421 already charged, this ruined the rest of our break.
Also one day I left the key behind reception to pass on to one of my friends, I told the receptionist his name and he refused to give my friend the key even with ID.

Only 1 receptionist who said hello/good morning others didn’t even acknowledge. Shower not fit for purpose as it flooded the bathroom whichever way it was used. Complimentary coffee in reception always empty. Room was on ground floor with large windows that opened which is a security risk. Wardrobe extremely dusty, toiletries never replenished. I imagine this hotel has changed hands since my other 4 stays.

Wc stank und lavabo war dreckig und am Morgen um 7uhr haben wir das hotel mit aufräumkarte vor der Tür verlassen Zimmer wurde trotzdem nicht geputzt umd sachen wurden auch nicht ausgewechselt

Overall an okay stay. Hotel slightly run down and dated. Rooms could do with a lick of paint and new bathroom suites. My bed sheets were also dirty on arrival. Staff are friendly and helpful. Great location - close enough to walk to the centre but far enough away where it’s quiet.

Old, smelly and not worth the price
Not one to usually leave reviews but feel obliged after my stay. For the price my partner and I paid I would have expected at least a curtain on the window. The room also stunk of stale cigarettes the whole time we stayed and we couldn’t get rid of the smell. It was loud, outdated and everything in there was incredibly basic and old.

While the room and bed linen was clean and that it was close to trams and U ban there was not much else good about the place. We were in room 324 which was really small and cramped.It was basically in the attic and the roof struts made the room even smaller and impossible to stand up straight as you moved about on the outside side of the room. The receptionist had little local knowledge of the area and simply said she was 'not from Cologne'. The lift on our side of the building was not working which meant we had to carry our luggage up 6 flights of stairs. When asked when it would be repaired we were told 'probably tomorrow' but it never happened and I suspect that from the piles of laundry and linen in the lift doorways on all levels it has obviously not been working for sometime and probably wont be repaired in the near future. Bad value for money. Definitely would not stay here again.

Would I return? Never! Why? Urine (pee) smell on bed. Dismissive attitude of staff. Hotel uncared for with minimum spent to keep it going. e.g peeling wall paper. Immediate surroundings uninviting. Good shopping area within walking distance. No security for bicycle storage.
