Our room had no AC but it wasn’t a major downfall

The hotel had parking but on a first come first serve basis at 20 euros a night, parking on the street come at 16 euros for 4 hours but there was a secure parking facility 3 mins away from the accommodation at 30 euros for 24 hours which was the best option for us

staff we’re super friendly
catherdal and city centre was only a 25 minute walk so all in all it’s defiantly a recommended place to stay

This is a bit of a walk out of town, particularly if you’re carrying luggage from the station. However, it’s well-priced and really has everything you could need. The bathroom is small but has everything you need and the actual bed room is well laid out with plenty of space.

Conveniently located close to Altstadt, lots of dining options, university. Parking can be challenging. 4 bedroom dorm worked well for family with private bathroom, very clean. Hallways have old carpets, poor ventilation, gets hot and stuffy in summertime. Window only opens a tiny bit. Budget accommodation for 3 nights sleep worked well enough for us. Cooking area in common kitchen is very small.

I asked the hotel is we could transfer our reservation to another one of THEIR hotels in a location closer to the train station. They advised to book and provide the confirmation number from their other property. I did this and after we checked in they sent a message that they would not cancel the reservation at their other hotel. So we paid for two hotels for one night. I felt very deceived by the hotel.

Great Location, Some Drawbacks

During our official trip, we had a stop in Cologne and arrived earlier than the designated check-in time. Although we requested a parking spot 14 days in advance, we were informed that no parking was available for us and were given three alternative parking options. Unfortunately, the two recommended garages were closed due to the Pride events, which resulted in us spending over 20 minutes searching for an available parking area.

The front desk staff, however, were exceptionally professional and accommodating. They assisted us in storing our luggage while we explored the city to pass the time and return after the official check-in time. When we came back, we were promptly given the keys. Our room was located on the first floor.

Upon entering the hallway, we were immediately hit by an overwhelming odor, almost making us feel sick. Fortunately, once inside our room, the smell from the hallway dissipated completely. The room, beds, and bathrooms were spacious and very clean. However, the room lacked air conditioning, so we opened the windows for ventilation. Unfortunately, heat and external noises all night made it difficult to get a restful sleep.

Overall, the staff's helpfulness and the cleanliness of the room were positives, but addressing the hallway odor, improving cooling options for the hotter seasons, and establishing quiet hours could significantly enhance the guest experience.

It's just a hostel and NOT a hotel

This is not a Hotel as advertised, this is a HOSTEL. Probably a good hostel but we booked a hotel and was advertised as a hotel. We also didn't get the room that we booked and paid for as was showing on the pictures, we were put in a less comfortable cheap room. Bed wasn't done, ear swabs around. Dark room, double bunk beds for a family and we did reserve the room 2 months earlier. We booked and paid for a hotel room and not for a hostel, so we feel deceived, misled. For similar money I could have a real hotel.

I liked the safe feel of the premises. Unfortunately upon arrival to our room we found toenail clippings on the floor. Also, it is required you fit your own mattress with provided sheet, pillowcase, and duvet cover. Beds are not pre-made for you.This may be just their protocol, don't expect all hostels to provide the same level of service.

Their contactless food/drink ordering with QR code menu is not reliable. We ordered coffee and waited 15 minutes until I went up to the counter to inquire if they received our order. The employee was unaware of the online order I placed and paid for until they reviewed their computer monitor. I even had to physically show my phone on the online ordering that I paid for the coffees. There seems to be a delay in communication between the online ordering and the employee.

Quick and easy check-out. It was okay.

Really friendly helpful staff, very clean and modern hotel and room. We travelled with children and the rooms are really family friendly and they are given a really cute kids pack when arriving. Really nice breakfast and dinner and the bar area has loads to do. Literally only downside to the hotel was that the walls to the hallways are quite thin so it can be quite loud when people are walking allong the hallway, especially if they're drunk!

Lucky there is a multi-storey parking very close for 20 euro a day. The only thing that bothered me was people slamming doors very late a night and very early in the morning, and people yelling in the street at night.

Great option, good value budget hostel, lovely reception area with bar, coffee machines, snacks and live music on the Saturday evening. Friendly reception area staff. Good location for the Christmas markets. We booked a private quad room with private shower & toilet. The room had 2 bunk beds, not easy to get in the top bunks but comfortable sleeping once settled down. Room was too hot and window opening was minimal due to it being 2nd floor. Found a dirty bath towel left on one of the beds. There were no clean towels in the room, just a small bath mat. Beds were unmade, just a bare mattress so we had to make up our beds before unpacking, last thing you need after a long journey. But I’m guessing that’s what hostels are like (it’s the first time I have stayed in one) Overall the A&O Hostel was great, but we felt the housekeeping let it down.

Customer service was SPOT ON! The beds comfy, room was hot! Cools with window cracked, but VERY NOISY. I recommend to ASK FOR FAN , which we learned at check out. Great hostel for younger travelers or low maintenance. Laundry on site. Downstairs bar. Breakfast available for add'l money. Close to local eateries and walkable to train station and old town. Note: Quiet hours are 10pm to 6am, but we didn't find guests respecting it.

We visited the a&o the second time this year and the condition of the hostel has immensely worsened. First we were in a room where the shower was destroyed. When we got a new room there was a visible patch of the door where someone had appearantly punched through the bathroom door. Walking by, we also saw a room door where the lock mechanism was exposed and wood chipped away. The caulk in the bathrooms was moldy and the cleaning must have suffered for a while.
While some of the staff was friendly, others (especially the older lady down at the breakfast) couldn't communicate in English or German and was impudent when asked for anything.
Hidden costs: upon arrival you will be asked to pay for bedsheets (3.50 a person).

Location of the property was good. Shower area was tiny, dirty and mouldy. Unfortunately the light was not working and the staff could only fix it the next day. Service is non-existent but I guess that is the standard in hostels. Beds must be made by yourself. No amenities in room such as fridge, kettle, etc. A no frills stay but price is not cheap during peak periods.

OK if on a tight budget

Everything was 'fine', rooms aren't the nicest or cleanest, but we needed a decent place to stay as cheap as possible for a budget trip. A little far out from the cathedral and central station, about 20 minute walk but fairly close to another station, Kiln Sud. Ok if it's the cheapest option for your dates but would pay a little more for a more central.location next time.

Dissapointing. Not cheap for what you actually get. Very small room (2 people cannot pass each other) and no air conditioning so very hot. No towels in the room so have to ask at reception. No bed sheets - they charge extra for that which was not made clear upon booking or arrival. Staff were moody and not particularly helpful, i.e. didnt give us towels, didnt tell us about bedsheets, couldn't/didnt want to give us any advice on where to go or what to do.

No frills, and that's ok.

You get what you pay for in these hotels, and that's not a bad thing. You need a place to sleep, shower and that's it? Done. No frills, no extras, no problems. A little noisy with guests slamming doors and checking out super early, coming in super late, but that's part of the deal. Inexpensive and clean, so you can't really ask for more than that for the price.

The hostel was great! Clean, enough space, lobby was nice but it was HOT and there is no A/C. The window cracks a tiny bit and there was no cross breeze. I'm not sure if this is normal weather in Cologne in June but we were miserable in the room because it was so hot and the beds were very hard.

Unfassbar laut durch betrunkene Jugendliche die mitten in der Nacht auf den Fluren grölen und mit den Türen knallen. Es wird mit Fäusten an die Türen gehämmert, obwohl der Aufenthalt mit einem Kind war. Die Nacht war purer Horror für uns. Für uns ganz klar eine Einmalige Sache und würden wir auf keine Fall empfehlen. Zimmer unfassbar klein und an der Decke oben klebten undefinierbare Substanzen. Lacken mit Löchern und sauber war es auf keinen Fall. Wenn wir könnten, hätten wir minus 5 Sterne gegeben. Und für den Preis, absolute Frechheit!

アメニティはタオル大中各1枚に、ハンドソープ、ボディ&ヘッドソープがついていた。

Eine unserer schlechtesten Hotelerfahrungen, zugegeben haben wir als Familie einfach das falsche Hotel gebucht. Als Familie mit kleinen Kindern sollte man woanders suchen. Betten abgerockt und Katastrophe. Zimmer runtergekommen überall Farbe ab, nicht richtig sauber, überall Spinnweben und Staub aus den letzen Jahren, Bad aus den 90ern... und vor allem keine Klima. Wir hatten im Sommer 32 Grad in unserem Zimmer und konnten nicht schlafen, von den Kindern ganz zu schweigen.

Meine persönlichen Sachen wurden im
Hotelzimmer von jemanden durchwühlt. Diese Personen haben meine Bankdaten fotografiert und nutzten diese nach meinem Check-out, um mehrere hundert Euro abzubuchen. Das Geld bekomme ich von meiner Bank zurück, aber schade, dass das Hotel hier nicht weiter nachforscht wer unerlaubt an meine Sachen geht. Sicherheit ist für mich etwas anderes.

Positive Erfahrung, jederzeit wieder gerne.

Frühstück war ausreichend und ok. Der Frühstücksraum ist leider im UG. Zimmer war neu renoviert und sauber. Wir hatten für 3 Personen ein 4- Bett-Zimmer. Super-Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis.
Personal war extrem nett und gechillt.
Wir konnten einen Parkplatz buchen, einziges Manko waren die engen Parkplätze, als es Samstags voll war.
