The room had bugs, so the occupant (our son) requested a different room. They did comply, but then accused him of damaging the TV. It was not true anyhow, and it then turned out that they accused him before even talking to any others (cleaning and maintenance personnel) who had access to the room. Overall, the facility was dirty and shabby - both rooms, elevator, etc. Overall impression was borderline disastrous, and anyhow the standard of a 4-star hotel was definitely not met. Beware the room damage scam/trap - we recommend taking a pic of your room to document the condition and avoid unfounded accusations!

The hotel was terrible. They changed out rooms three times. The first room was not 3 beds like we requested, the second room bathroom wasn’t working. The shower wasn’t draining and it the bathroom was flooded. Front desk was rude to us. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Spa was very nice, wasn’t prepared for the naked sauna’s though as wasn’t sure whether signage meant swimwear was optional or not allowed, probably an English thing, so avoided. Naked people wasn’t a problem to us but families with children should probably be made more aware.

Hotel was clean and Tidy. 2 entrances to hotel which was a bit awkward as we couldnt get to our room through main entrance due to spa. In moddle of hotel. We done the spa for €10 asnot included in the price whick was fair enough but when leaving hitel we were chatged for robes at €8 each and were not made awarw there was a cost..Rooms were ok fle soze and breakfast basic especially when €20 per head. 4 stars

We didn’t use the spa so can’t comment on that. No garage parking available as they have to festival goers. Was lucky to get a spot up front, but only until 9 the next morning. Went to pay for parking at 9:10 am and already had a parking ticket.

Seedy dated nudist hotel, avoid

Appalling hotel with naked men lounging around in the rooftop bar. Nowhere on the listing or the hotel website does it prepare you for this. I am a professional female solo traveller, I do not want or need to enter a bar for dinner and be greeted by the sight of men with their 'bits' on full display. The hotel is absolutely not 4 star, it's 2 at best. The room itself was cheap, dark, dated and smelled of stale smoke. I booked it for the pool, which is an extra €10 a day PLUS another €8 for the compulsory robes and slippers. I didn't use it after being informed being naked is compulsory. No redeeming features in this hotel at all, avoid at all costs. Hotels.com were not at all interested in the fact their listing doesn't warn of the nudity or the potential safety issues.

The pools and saunas are amazing. Lots of naked folks, and some “textile free” pools and saunas, so if that’s not your jam, maybe go somewhere else. My adult daughters and I had a great (and separate) time however, everyone except the man at the front desk was super nice and no creepy vibes at all.

The pools and saunas are fantastic. Highly recommend this hotel in Cologne. It would have been an ideal stay if it wasn’t for faulty WiFi in my room (for the entire 3 days I was there). Breakfast was a bit sad so I would miss that next time, but definitely stay again.

Rooms are not updated I payed a lot and hotel initially gave me an awful room I asked to change and got a slightly better room. Hotel needs refurb but all is happening is little bits of maintenance here and there rather than fixing the entire old and outdated bathrooms flooring and furniture.

Good for my quick stay.

I did a last minute booking and had a good stay. The staff here are very friendly and willing to help. The rooms, however, do not look like the pictures online. Once I checked in and noticed the difference, I was allowed to see another room but stayed with what I had. I think, for a spa location, I was expecting more bang for the buck. It was, still, a good stay. One thing to note, the spa is co-ed and bathing suits are not allowed in areas other than the pool inside the co-ed spa. (I should have asked more questions but wasn't expecting it.) There is parking that can be purchased. It is for smaller cars. The staff helped me get out. Lol. The breakfast is small but good and it is located near other shops, restaurants, etc.

SCAM! Don’t waste your money at this place!

The only good thing about this Hotel was the overall location. It was walking distance to the Neumarkt ( uBahn).

1. Room was small. Couldn’t access it through regular entrance. Had to walk around the block to get to my room. Which felt super unsafe and sketchy at night time when going to my room.
- That was not included in the description of the hotel or the room.

2. Customer Service
My overall stay plan changed a couple of weeks before my arrival at the hotel. I paid extra $ a day to have flexibible reservation. And I messages the property on the app. App said hotel will contact me directly. They never responded to me.
Talked to the receptionist aa soon I arrived, they couldnt help and advised to talk to reservation person. Didn’t see the reservation person on site for 2 days and gave me a card to email her.

And they denied to give me a refund. I had to pay 500 more euros for the days I didn’t stay. Travellers be aware!!!

3. Shower had black residues from the caulking when water hits.

Tiny room, horrible customer service. Don’t book flexible room with this hotel, it would be a waste of money and they would not be flexble and wont respond to you and charge you extra. Such a scam!!!

Overall a VERY good hotel. Was nice to have an actual bed for the 3rd person (daughter). Breakfast was all you could ask for, 20euro. I'd recommend it, but 2 things were not ideal. The spa is fully nude. Not really a problem for me but if your visiting with your kid, maybe a little awkward. My wife would also refuse to go. Our room was facing the pool, which is open until 1130pm and not well sound insulated (big window , which I suspect was single pane). We were there in the winter so it was manageable, but I don't think I'd like it in the summer due to people in the pool. To be clear, I would recommend it and will stay here again (location is great), just insist I not be facing the pool (street is quiet)

Corruption in the spa

The hotel itself is great for a few days, tge problem is the spa area, there is a corrupt man working there selling cheap tickets to go in the spa. The first night i was there i was offered a half price ticket for cash only.

The man works in the spa and lets all his friends in. He is white and uses the facilities when he is supposed to be working. Monday 04th Nov approx 6pm he was working there, the hotel need to fix this man.

Lovely Hotel. Sadly, we had a room from 3 adults shared . Entrance to our room facility was back outside and around the other side of the hotel which has a bit of a back alley feel to it( compared to the main entrance); Never felt part of the Hotel as there was no internal access . Room and space was excellent inside though, which was such a shame. Our room was also on the ground level where the window ledge attracted empty drink bottles from only god knows who…so couldn’t have a window open. i would stay there agin, but would book 2 double rooms instead (just to hopefully be in the main part of the hotel .

Our second time here - it’s an old school great German spa hotel, with the exceptional sauna complex (which includes rituals every hour from 13.00). It’s dated at parts but that’s compensated with the very fair value.

The breakfast was plenty, the service kind and welcoming and the room large and clean. We will come back.

Had a good stay at Mauritius. Enjoyed the breakfast selection. The layout of the hotel is quite strange so takes some getting used to. Quite a basic room and covers not that comfortable. Good facilities such as the gym and spa. It is recommended to go nude in sauna and in pools so slight culture shock if not not used to it. I think for the price it’s pretty good value

You need to walk in the rain to go to your room. At least 600 feet. Parking directions are lousy and manager was rude when ask for proper directions to the parking. To reach restaurant you need to go outside walk another 600 feet same for lobby, no fun when it rains. Would not recommend this hotel.

They claim to have “Parking”- but only 10 spaces.
So if u are the 11th guest- u have to use public parking.
There was no wash towel, no complementary shampoo, conditioner, water, coffee or tea.
They have a spa- but must get in using their bath robe which they charge for bath robe.
For the price they charge, they should be a bit more generous.

We stayed 2 nights as part of a tour of Germany. The hotel is well located and the therme spa was excellent. The breakfast has a good choice and the staff we very helpful, We had rooms that had to be access from the back of the hotel which wasn’t very convenient. The room was good size and comfortable. The major downside was not air con, this meant we had to have the windows open and it was extremely noisy. An English group had parked their car outside and played their music at full volume and took drugs until the early morning - luckily they only stayed one night but it meant we didn’t get any sleep. We would have cancelled the following nights stay if we could.

Homeless people were camped outside my room smoking and vomiting into the late evening. Staff did nothing. Hotel is rated a 4 star yet doesn't have AC, when the temperature was in the 90s in the day and 80s at night. Truly unbearable.

The spa was excellent, however the biggest surprise was the proximity to the church and the bells ringing. It is to be expected on a Sunday, but surprised at the 7.30 awakening on Monday.
The room was comfortable but too warm as there was no temperature control other than being able to open the window, which directly relates to previous point.
The final surprise was that my room never got serviced during the 3 days I was there. Again a little surprising, as the least I would have expected was fresh towels each day. Maybe it was part of there environmental programme, but considering the amount of laundry they must go through as a spa resort, fresh towels for guests, shouldn't effect their footprint dramatically.

Overall very disappointing, I wouldn’t recommend it. I wished I went for my alternative option.

The hotel had a strange atmosphere and the customer service at check in was severely lacking. My room key did not work but no apology given despite it being inconvenient coming back down from the 5th floor and back up again. I didn’t feel like enough information was given about the hotel itself and the use of the spa. I was told by guests in the spa that you have to go into the sauna naked but this wasn’t explained at reception and quite an important thing to mention! I found it bizarre that I had to keep asking questions and information wasn’t volunteered.

I had a massage booked at the hotel and as a massage therapist myself, I found it again very disappointing. There was no consultation to ask about medical conditions (standard protocol), the massage room was cold and the massage itself was really bad.

The hotel room was basic and just ok. The bathroom was clean. The bedroom carpet needs a deep clean, there were hairs, dust and a bottle under the bed from previous person so obviously hadn’t hoovered underneath. The room was cold and unfortunately the radiator didn’t work. I called down to reception but they were unhelpful. The bed was comfortable enough but the pillow was flat and the duvet did not fit the bed, it was oddly too small. Check out was at 12 but the cleaner started hoovering at 10am on my floor which doesn’t allow for a restful morning or a lie-in.

Excellent spa services although not everyone followed the naked steam room, sauna policy.

Hotel needs Air Con although a fan was provided but had to close windows due to street noise and tram noise but nothing could drown out the church bell. I was in room 209 which was at the front opposite the church.

Well situated near Neumarkt for shops and local nightlife.

Staff were very helpful.

Stayed for 3 nights and would stay again, maybe in cooler months to negate lack of aircon.

Restaurant and Bar are in same room, right by Spa entrance. It seemed a bit strange seeing people having a beer/drink at the bar in a bath robe whilst people were eating feet away in the Restaurant. In fact, you could have a meal in your bath robe in the restaurant. This is just probably a picky English point although I know my wife would have been a bit put off if she had been travelling with me.

It was nice to have the sauna, spa and massage services availble. We participated in the massage and it was enjoyable. The downfall of this property is that there is no air conditioner and the ventilation in the rooms were not good. There are no screens on the windows so if you open them, it lets a lot of bugs in. We were so hot in our room even though it was 17C 63F degrees outside.

Major downside is no aircon. There was thankfully a fan.
Following other comments regarding reception, everyone I spoke with was lovely. Very accommodating and the bits of German I struggled to understand they were really kind and repeated in English.

All saunas required no swimsuits, having so many and not one available for those that don’t want to get naked isn’t great.
The pool area is nice , outside heated pool is very relaxing when quiet.
No drinks after 11 in the bar.

Great wellness area and value-for-money

I've stayed at this hotel several times and it's always a pleasure. The wellness area is wonderful and the main reason to visit. There are so many different facilities there and it's very well-maintained. Nice breakfast buffet and modern, stylish rooms. I can't think of a better value-for-money option in Köln. (Only one negative aspect: The reception didn't recognize Hotels.com VIP benefits at check-in and blamed it on their systems/Expedia, so you can't be sure they'll honor guaranteed late check-out nor possible room upgrade.)

I wanted to say more but ran out of space!

Mauritius Hotel is lovely, definitely a 4 star establishment. However, there are areas that let it down. The receptionist when we checked in we feel was not sufficiently trained in aspects of the hotel. On booking the hotel, we had requested a quiet room - having had nightmares with room location on more than one occasion in other hotels - and the receptionist asked us to confirm this, which we did. We ended up with a room that immediately backed onto the spa area - which does not shut until midnight - with all the chatter and accompanying noises that you associate with people using a naked spa area up to midnight! That was also aside from the fact that we had to leave the hotel to walk 150 metres around the corner to access our room. Unfortunately for us, it was raining and while I appreciate inclement weather is not the fault of the hotel, it does begs the question as to why a separate corridor or covered walkway is not available for guests if the hotel do not want you to walk through the naked spa area!
The next morning at about 11am, when we were reported the noise and requested a change of room - there had been no answer at reception when we tried to call at 1130pm - we were given short strift and told we should have reported it first thing in the morning!!
I will add that we were moved to a lovely suite on the 2nd floor (still a walk away from the main hotel). We enjoyed the rest of our stay; the lady that served us in the bar on Friday was really nice and smiley.

Fantastic Stay for the family.

What a fabulous Hotel and Spa.
I booked for my daughter's 30th Birthday. We had a family room which was beyond expectation. Two floors great Tv. Fabulous Bathroom and useful mini fridge.
Room cleaned each day with fresh towels. Lovely clean bedding and comfy beds.
Location ideal near to all districts and only 20 min walk to centre of Cologne and the cafes alongside the Rhine.
Service was excellent at check in and we managed to check in early.
The roof terrace was lovely being able to relax in the beautiful weather.
The Spa facilities were outstanding including the indoor pool.
Only one thing to be aware of is the residents or locals using the Spa do so naked. They sunbath naked also on the terrace. Not a problem for my grandson as just 7 but could be a little awkward for older children.

The apartment was very spacious, clean, and modern with a large seating area and separate bedrooms We were very happy with the room. A more comfortable seating area would improve it (only 2 chairs for a room with 4 beds) but that is a small complaint. I did not care for the dark entrance around the back of the building, away from the main hotel lobby. Also, a coffee or tea station would be welcome.

I probably should have read alll 85k reviews. Since i only read the first 30 or so, i didn't see where it stated that the pool was really for nude swimming and our 13 yr old daughter was mortified. I should have known being in Germany that would be te case.
It really hot worse from there. Were in a room directly above the front entrance, normally no big deal except this was where everyone in the hotel went to smoke and the smoke came right into our open window. It was warm so we couldn't close the windows, but the vagrants sleeping out on the steps of the church within spitting distance from the entrance of this hotel didn't mind if they bothered us. They were drinking, shouting and arguing for several hours both nights we were there. I actual thought there was going to be a knifing or worse at one point. Hell at one point I was hoping that might happen because then they might have shut up. Breakfast buffet was nice, if you looked past the fact that it was adjacent to the pool/spaa area, and people were eating breakfast in their robes, nude underneath, with everything hanging out, loud and proud. There is no dresser to put your things into, so if you like living out of your suitcase, this is the place for you. In all fairness the staff were really nice, and the room was pretty clean but smelled like ciggy smoke.

Nice place to relax

This is a very nice hotel. I came here for a business trip. I chose the hotel mostly because of the location and reviews. I was very satisfied. The service is great, the hotel is clean and modern and they cafeteria provides anything that you need. When I booked it I didn't know about the Spa area, I ended up using it a lot! It is big, with two pools, many kind of saunas and steam rooms and so on. I would definitively come back here.

Only problem is that they give you wifi for only one device. That is not ok.

Great Hotel and well Located but no AC

Stay was fine, hotel is good and well located with a good spa. However the rooms did not have Air Conditioning. I was provided with a fan but really not enough in this extremely hot summer.

Disappointing

The hotel room was clean and spacious but otherwise than that there is no other pleasing thing about this place. The staff were not accommodating although nice enough. They didn’t make us feel like guests. Our check in was horrible. Very dissatisfied with the whole experience. It would have made up for it had the hotel been close to most things but it’s too far from the Rhein n the Dom.

Our stay at the hotel was fine. Our room was clean but very cold when we arrived as they had not left the heaters on but it soon warmed up. The room was clean and spacious-for a weekend of Christmas markets we were not after anything fancy. Good location for what we needed but in a somewhat rundown area of Cologne.

Unfortunately we were part of a group and the other room booked was in a separate part of the hotel which was a 5 minute walk outside to the main reception.

mixed experience in great location

i stayed here with my family - the naked germans in the therme spa were the highlight of the trip.
Seriously the spa and sauna facilities were great - what let it down was the attitude of the reception staff who were unhelpful and quite rude
I stayed in a very nice suite room - accessible only from an outside walk of about 100 yds, room was good but the restaurant was over priced and awful for the kids - no menu for them and what came out they could not eat - I don't think this is! a hotel where children should be staying -
that said - it you are over 18 and in that kind of frame - this is an amazing sauna spa hotel with multiple pools and saunas - naturists enjoy!!

Very meh. The room smelled so bad. Soooo bad the entire time. It's very far from the city center. Two stops via the subway but the subway is suppppper crowded, so difficult to do with kids. Not a lot to eat around it. Clothing is optional in pool area so couldn't do that as my kids didn't want to see everyone's stuff. :/

Fun if you have time to the spa

They have 2 buildings which are seperated by the spa.The Spa in the place is great but if you are located in the remote building you have to walk to the other building from the outside and it is 300-400m. It happened for me to be rainy...
Romm was basic and blanket rate is for me 4 out of 10. Breakfast was great.
Parking is away about 500m from the hotel.

Nice hotel to stay at after a long working day. Good to relax in the very big spa area (€1/day additional charge). Parking a bit complicated (fairly residential with local parking permit and extremely expensive €2/20min fares). However, special fare at local parking 5min walk from the hotel (€14/day). 5-10 min walk from bars/restaurants so plenty to do in the surroundings.

Forth of July in Cologne

I visited Cologne on July 4th and I had a good stay at this hotel. There were only two things that bothered me, first, the room that we got was facing the church and the church bells rang at 7:30 am each morning . Annoying .. The second complain, I did not like the smell in the room. It was musty.
