I read many reviews that said the Air Conditioning was broken, or being fixed. When I checked-in, they told me that only certain room designations had A/C. I pointed to my Superior Room on the App, that indicated A/C and I was told that is not the case. I also pointed out that the hotel on Expedia, indicates it has A/C. Turns out ownership does not like to cool the rooms, just the restaurant and common areas. Will be speaking to Expedia for a refund.

Hot hotel in a bad way...

The air conditioning was out during a European heat wave so it was quite miserable in our room. We were ot informed of this when we checked in and noticed immediately. We had an ill family member that needed to rest, so it was made worse. We requested a fan and were denied rudely by the evening clerk, who also wouldn't open the bar. The hotel was nice, and the breakfast was good, and the day clerk was lovely, but it was a sleepless night.

There was no air conditioning in our room, there was no laundry service, even though it was listed as an amenity, the rooftop lounge was not safe and off-limits, the flooring in the lobby was exposed concrete, maybe renovations? The location was a little questionable walking from the hotel and getting to the train station… Didn’t always feel safe.

Overall it was fine. It was hot though, and the a/c was useless. The front desk person remarked that folks in Germany didn’t like it to be so cold. Thankfully it was cooler in the morning and we had these really cool windows you could open and look over the street below. It did have its charm.

The hotel was easy to find and a 10-15 minute walk from the station. Staff were welcoming and check in was easy. Hotel and room were really clean and bed was comfortable. Only negatives were that there was a noise every hour or so in the vents or hotel that sounded like rubbing metal that kept waking me you and that the shower head attached to the shower pole wouldn't stay up after tightening. So unless you're 4 foot tall, you would have to use the shower like a wand.

Excellent location (7 mins walk from Cathedral) and lots of places to eat nearby. Stayed on the ground floor - very quiet inside and outside the hotel.

Service was outstanding and provided great recommendations for both places to visit and eat/drink.

Excellent shower (power and heat)

Work being undertaken in the lobby but didn't disrupt/impact our stay.

Stored our luggage on the last day.

Would go again.

Unfortunately the property was being renovated meaning no bar and some limited facilities which we were not aware of when booking. It’s clear that when finished the hotel will be quirky and fun. It’s in a good location and was good value for the price. Bathroom was dated but room well lit and large enough for three adults.

This hotel has no laundry on site. There was no restaurant and no bar. When I complained to Expedia they apparently sent them a photo of laundry units (which I know for a fact didn’t exist because I was there, in person, and had multiple hotel staff tell me so). They lied to me, lied to Expedia and then Expedia believes them over their customers.

Looks can be deceiving.

Despite the hotel looking pretty and rooms appearing modern we were disappointed with our stay overall.

Checking in was easy, even though the young lad at the desk very abrupt and not at all welcoming.

Upon entering the room we were initially pleased as it was a very clean and modern looking room but where they have impressed on the look and supplying robes and slippers, they have skimped on the basics.

It was warm in Cologne during our stay and our room felt like a furnace, despite the windows being open a little. There was a control on the wall that looked like it operated the A/C but it didn't work. So I went to reception and was told the A/C broken, in which case the hotel should make provisions for cooling the room by at least providing a fan but they didn't have any.

This meant we had to try and sleep with the windows wide open until around 7am when builders arrived to start working on the lobby renovation with power tools.This was also when we discovered we'd been eaten alive by insects, so a good night sleep was not had during our stay.

For a hotel of this standard I would also expect tea and coffee making facilities, but instead all we had were glasses for the minibar. There was a smart TV but it didn't show any channels and wasn't connected to the internet so was useless.

The Bathroom was basic but the shower temp kept fluctuating and the pressure dropped several times. It's also near impossible not to slam the door due to closing mechanism.

Won't stay again!

A tale of two nights!

We had 1 horrendous night, and 1 nice night. Being put in a room with with no working air con in 30°C+ weather was totally unacceptable, and despite trying to pretend that it should be working ok, the staff definitely knew the room was a sweat box prior and still left us to endure a shockingly uncomfortable night! For this night we were charged over £200 for a \"Deluxe\" room!
The room change and upgrade for the 2nd night was very much appreciated, and nothing bad to say about this Grand Deluxe room; spacious, clean and best of all Cold!!
Location handy for train station, not the nicest part of town, but fine for what we needed.

This is a hard review to give. The hotel was very clean and close to the train station. That was good. However, check in was not great. We had yo wait while the attendant had to walk the customers in front of us to their room. He returned to check us in. He was pleasant enough so I have no complaints against him. He told us that they were out of room keys so he would have to take us to our room. No key, not a good plan. A key card was needed to keep the lights on. He tried to substitute something else. It lasted about two minutes. We were left in a dark room. My husband tried several credit card type things to no avail. He had to have the attendant come back twice and needed to use a cellphone flashlight to see what he was doing.It was late at night and we were tired. Finally the young man called his supervisor to get permission to use a key card. This whole process took over 45 minutes to have lights that worked. The room was smaller than what I expected or thought I had purchased. We were quite annoyed that a highly rated hotel would have this kind of problem. Thankfully,
The bed was comfortable and the shower was nice.

The only good thing about this hotel was that it was within walking distance of the Cologne Central train station and Cologne Cathedral. We stayed in the \"Triple Room\". It was extremely dated, especially the bathroom. The beds were hard and felt like dorm beds. The room was hot in April, and the A/C didn't make a difference. We didn't open the windows because we were on the ground floor. It was not worth what we paid for it.

The property and the room was superb. Generous space for the room that we booked, walkable to the Cologne Dom and up to Old City and all the nearby Christmas market within 15-20 mins moderate walk. Walkable as well to Schildergrasse shopping street. Variety of foods in that area and very good stay overall.

Weekend in Cologne, Germany

The hotel is conveniently located a few blocks from the Koln Train station downtown. There is some construction around the hotel, but you don't hear it. Our room was not facing Cologne Cathedral but there was a lovely church across the street. Be warned the bells go off at 7AM. Cologne is pretty walkable too, so we didn't use any other form of transportation while we stayed there.

We got the breakfast buffet one morning and I can say, it wasn't worth it. Not many selections for the cost.

Stayed for a few nights and enjoyed the room and location. Close enough to Koln station to be handy, but not right on top of it so means slightly quieter. There are very limited shops close, but this is okay as shops are only a ten minute walk away. The room was nice, spacious, clean, and a well appointed bathroom with great shower. The only negative would be needing to walk up and down stairs and along hallways as my room was in the adjoining building - not major, but there is no guest entrance in the adjoining building so means ups and downs to get in and out each time. Again, not major and overall a great stay and really handy location for a Koln visit.

Although they advertise parking, they had none... They rent out the spaces to locals for overnight I'd say, so at 5pm you have to park somewhere else, at cost, 10min walk away, then next morning get the car from there before you can load bags... Hmmmmm.

Problems starting at checkin to the hotel. Parking lot was full and could not be used. Got to the room after going up and down 2 elevators, turned on the lamp and it it exploded. You could smell something burning. No power in the entire room. Hotel staff came and did something to restore power after over half an hour. TV and the entire wall with outlets was not working. Mini fridge also didn’t work. Tried to take a shower, water flows under the door and pools by the sink and in the room with the toilet. Asked to change rooms to a different one, was told nothing was available. Terrible place. Stay far, far away.

Very disappointing. Paid extra for a superior room but the room was tiny, and the drains in the bathroom stank. The room was stuffy and windows would not stay open.

Checkin was slow. Only a couple person in front of me but it took nearly half an hour because of all unnecessary printing out/ form filling in.

1- The room was too hot. The air-conditioning was not working. Called the receptionist, answered and hang up!! I think they did not speak English!! That was very rude.
2- The price paid for the room was way too high. At least there should be a bottle of water in the room for free!!
3- The room was the bed!! I had a king size bed that i think the room was too small to accommodate it!! no space to move around the bed.
4- Breakfast was acceptable, good choices of food.
5- For the price I was expecting a better quality and service.

I recently stayed at a hotel that exceeded all of my expectations! From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly kind and attentive to my needs. They went out of their way to ensure that I was comfortable and had everything I needed for my stay.

The room was extremely comfortable and had all the amenities I needed for a business trip, including a desk and reliable Wi-Fi.

The location of the hotel was also top-notch. It was situated in a great area with plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance, which made it easy to get around and explore the city.

One of the things that really stood out to me about this hotel was the staff's willingness to go above and beyond to help guests. They even took care of some boxes that I had sent to the hotel in advance, and even kept my crate for days until UPS came to pick it up. This level of service is truly exceptional and made my stay even more enjoyable.

Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient stay, especially for business trips. The staff, cleanliness, comfort, and location all exceeded my expectations and made for a fantastic experience.

Check-in staff were very rude and unhelpful. Asian lady and another guy, unsmiling, unkind. First they said I didn't have a booking.
They mucked me around for ages even though I had already prepaid online then they wanted me to unpack my bags and get a physical credit card (wouldn't accept tap and pay). Then they made me fill out pages of details on paper with a pen. (All the same details they already had)
They had a very unkind, awful attitude. Very cold and anti-customer. Not nice at all. Apart from that the hotel was clean and newly fitted out.

Poor water pressure in shower, no mini-fridge (so we had to switch rooms).

Aircon was poor. Lowest temp was 21c and it was loud and intermittent. We had to buy a handheld fan to sleep.

Parking was a bit expensive but good.

We have to take two lifts and walk along a passage to get in/out. The hotel seems to be under construction in some areas.

The good thing is there aren’t many rooms/guests so the lift was usually available straight away.

Location was good. Very close to the Cathedral.

We stayed for one night in a deluxe room. 19/08 The room would of been fine apart from the lack of air conditioning the room on arrival was unbearable. We had opened the patio door which didn’t really have much afffect The temperature outside was 27 degrees so not as hot as it has been thankfully. The pillows also had an unpleasant smell not the pillow cases as the linen was clean but the pillows. Thankfully one night was enough and bearable. If staying here do not stay in the summer

Management is horrible. We arrived a day late due to a major Europe-wide storm that brought flights and trains to a standstill. Despite this being in all the news and affecting ALL transportation modes, AND having called ahead, our rooms were not ready. After not charging us for the missed night, they managers called me incessantly, in my room and in my brother's room, looking to get me to pay for the first night that they themselves had comped. They not only had obviously sold my room to another guest for that night, they also charged me and were quite rude about it. The rooms are a bit over the top gold and velvet, the decor trying oh so hard to be hip, but underneath all that is are frayed carpets and LOTS of construction going on. The breakfast is pretty dull compared to most German breakfasts, with stale bread and canned fruit. Will never stay here again simply due to the rudeness of the management (which did not extend to the poor front desk people who were also being harassed to harass me every time I walked in or out of the hotel. They had my credit card on file, there was simply no reason to ruin my few days there with constant badgering. Someone needs to go back to hospitality school for some retraining.

This place was amazing! It was a seven minute walk from the main train station and was in a quiet location. We were in the annex building which is under construction but our room was quite spacious and the bed was the most comfortable I've ever slept on anywhere in Europe. The room had great lighting, lots of space for clothes and luggage, extra seating and the bathroom was fantastic. I will definitely stay here again!

Very Good

Very central a 5 min walk from the Cathedral (Dom) and Main Train Station (Hauptbahnhof) in Koln. Rooms very spacious and beds very large and soft. Very clean. Only downside was bar is very small and no public toilets on ground floor but I think they are building new foyer so hopefully this will be rectified. Lots of restaurants nearby Indian food, Italian etc. Quiet street. Good hotel.
From Cologne Bonn Airport take the S13 or S19 to Koln HBF

There are middle of construction trying to get ready in time for Anurga whilst the new building is nice also there was no heating and was cold September to get to the main building you need to walk outside not ideal when raining.
