Fine, entirely avoidable negative first impression

Fine overall. Good breakfast.

Rubbish first impression to get in the room and there’s bottle of water right next to the bed… and a price tag on it. Best check they’re not going to charge me for shower water or provision of clean air.

Delightful hotel. Minimalistic but with all comforts. Clean ,lovely staff, very good breakfast, short walk to Dom. Near to restaurants locally.
One suggestion ,bath towels could be a little larger !

Quiet and clean hotel. Friendly staff and lovely breakfast. Close enough to the train station to easily get there, far enough to be away from annoying elements. My only issue was that I kept hitting my arm against the wall at night when turning because the single bed was placed along the wall XD

We went there for a long weekend with friends and it was great. The hotel is very clean, they follow all safety measures, friendly staff and most important the breakfast is fabulous (that’s my fav thing about the hotel). It’s 10min walk to the main attractions. Thank you!

It was small and clean property to stay. There was not much amenities to use, but the location was close to all cologne site-seeing places. Only complain about my room was hot water in shower wouldn't get so hot (in comparison to the hot water from the sink). Breakfast was good too.

Great place to stay for the markets, close enough to walk. 10 minutes max to the station and the cathedral. Where one of the main Christmas market is.
But lovely and quite. Only down side was the speed of the WiFi, very slow!

I liked the room, the staff at the front desk and the excellent breakfast. My dislikes were that the location was a long walk from things I wanted to do, and that when the elevator stopped working and I had to carry my luggage down two flights of stairs, the staff acted like this was normal.

Convenient quiet location in central area; plenty of restaurants nearby. Welcoming staff and very comfortable room. It was very warm in Cologne but the air- con was very effective. Price included breakfast which had a very wide selection of food.
The staff were polite and helpful.

Very good, modern hotel. Staff very friendly Rooms clean & well appointed Breakfast excellent with full hot & cold choice. Would stay again and recommend.
Two quirks we found -
1. Guest face flannels provided in room at check in but, as we had used them, they were taken away and never replaced during the 5 days we we there. Bizarre!
2. 68? TV channels shown on room listings including BBC Europe and other English language but some (8?) of the channels were not receiving any signal ie no English except Bloomberg (weather not kind so needed TV). Reported to staff who checked that the problem was not confined to the TV in our room, so there was nothing that could be done. Problem with one TV= fixable. Problem with all TVs in hotel = not fixable.Getting TV service provider to fix problem was outside of their remit.

Lovely hotel but spoilt for us.

We found the hotel very clean and the staff very helpful and friendly.
There are three reasons we would sadly not stay there again.
1. We could not make tea in the bedroom....very important to me. When I enquired I was told they would bring it to the room but I would have to pay. Not acceptable.
2. The breakfast room was much too dark. I am partially sighted and found it very hard to get around comfortably.
3. I objected to the picture of a woman pushing her breasts together in our room (214) and to the picture of a half-naked woman hanging next to the lift. I found these offensive and unnecessary.

Good except for the taxi booked for our return to the airport. IIt was booked for 12.40 but did not arrive until 1.05 by which time we were calling a taxi. When it arrived there was neither explanation or apology.
My wife was getting worried that we might miss our flight.

A disappointing end to what otherwise was a good trip.

Good hotel within easy 6-7 minute walk from the Dom and main station. Generally good service, although very slow check-in due to technical problem. Good-sized room but big problem not being able to control room temperature left us far too hot at night. We even had to open a window, which was not ideal as we then had traffic noise early morning. Coffee machine a ‘plus’ but only weak coffee available. Spacious bathroom with good toiletries but no shower cap! Flannels removed and not replaced. Bed a little too hard for our liking. NO BBC World or CNN so no English speaking channels apart from France24 ironically. Breakfast quite good but coffee very weak. Unusual in Germany. Had lovely meal at Brucken, about a 5 minute walk away.

Hotel Santo is in a wonderful location - close to cathedral, train station, and shopping.
The buffet breakfast was excellent. Staff recommendations for restaurants were superb. The internet however was a bit unreliable at times.

Great hotel but AC doesn't work

The included breakfast has great variety and is of good quality. The room and bathroom are clean and bed is comfortable. However the the AC was not working properly and couldn't cool the room. Wanted to leave the window open but on the 2nd floor there was too much road noise from cars and motorcycles. When I called downstairs to tell them about the AC issue they were not helpful at all. All he said was it should work. I had to prompt him to see if another room was available and he said that all rooms have the same AC. Wasn't helpful or concerned at all. What a terrible experience because we couldn't get a good nights rest.

The hotel was only a few minute walk from everything we wanted to see. It was clean, very comfortable, reasonably priced and the concierge was very helpful. Everything we needed to allow us to focus on having fun was at the Hotel Santo !

Problem 1: False smoke alarm at 4 am that went on for about 10 minutes long and worse of it all is they locked the front door of the building so if there was an actual fire then I wouldn't be here. Problem 2: we got food poisoning and most likely it was from this hotel's breakfast based on the timing of the symptoms that started appearing 9 hours after we had the breakfast (6-10 hours is the normal window for viral infections from mishandling food preparations). Problem 3: the pillows are almost useless, way too fluffy (most people prefer moderately firm). I was happy mostly about nice the bathroom was and the wifi was very fast even though it's supposedly limited to 2 GB of data usage per night or something like that. I was also glad for the room being very clean and it was quiet except when the smoke alarm went off.

A Great Find!

Loved our stay at Hotel Santo. We walked to everything and was given good advice from the staff on where to eat, tours, and even found us an extra electric converter for another phone. The breakfast was excellent. Would definitely stay there again, good price too!

Great, apart from the hotel description saying most rooms had air-con-----ours didnt and room was warmer than expected for cool,cloudy weather.
There was a good coffee machine in the room, but would have liked a tea/hot choc option too, as I dont drink coffee!
Bucks fizz at breakfast was the ultimate luxury however.

Very clean, modern hotel and room. Internet connection was solid. Good location, just a 5-10 minute walk through a very quiet neighborhood to the main train station and then the activities just beyond. The breakfast was very nice, easy, quick and much better than expected (and would probably be the main reason I would come back). The staff was very friendly. My room was very small which made it feel even more cramped after 7 nights, but comfortable and the overhead \"rain\" shower was a blessing in the morning.

Comfortable Stay in Cologne

Parking is available adjacent to the hotel but the parking bays are movable racks and very tight. The women responsible for opening the garage was most impatient (clearly it wasn't her car). The room was a little on the small side. The breakfast was good and location is about a 400 metre walk to the Cathedral. The assistant unlocking the garage when we were leaving could not have been more cooperative. The location of the hotel was in a safe neighbourhood.
