Not sure why it’s rated as a 4-star hotel and has really good reviews. It was probably a great hotel 30 years ago but it’s old not really in a charming way and smells a bit musky. I thought I had filtered for hotels with AC and it turned out this hotel only had certain rooms with AC so book wisely. It was terrible when I had booked us there over the 38C heatwave thinking we’re getting a room with AC. Fortunately there was a fan and the windows can be opened wide. Reception staff is indeed very friendly and the location is close to the Hbf

The room was very large and comfortable and had a hotplate, refrigerator and sink and large closet, large tv, full size bed, large windows with blackout shades,provided a large fan. Everything was great and 3 minutes from the main train station. Excellent stay and very friendly staff.

We enjoyed our stay. It was close to the train station and close to attractions. Staff are friendly. I was surprised how everything in the hotel was not updated. The rugs in the elevator and rooms were worn out and outdated, the curtains were very old and the elevator was small.

Im not sure this hotel warrants the star rating the rooms are large and spacious but the decor is so dated and not welcoming. The hotel from the reception, lift to the rooms are old and dark. Saying that the bed was was comfortable for our one night stay. The surrounding area is slightly run down and not inviting.

Stayed 6 nights during a business trip.
Close proximity to Cologne Central Station and Cologne Cathedral - approx 5 minutes on foot. Room was large and spacious. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Some of the furniture and fittings are slightly worn out and could do with a refresh within the next few years. Would also recommend bringing your own toiletries - tooth brush, tooth paste, shampoo.

Ideal for both sightseeing and a stopover near the station. This comfortable hotel with big apartment sized rooms is near enough to walk from the main station - even with luggage. Walk back through the station and you are in the main area of the City with the cathedral, museums, shops and eateries so really convenient for everything.

Spacious and comfortable room. Although the carpet was a little worn in places, the room was spotlessly clean and the mini kitchen very useful. The location was excellent for walking to the major tourist places. Good value for money and we would certainly stay there again. The reception staff were welcoming and helpful.

The location is excellent, next to train station, and very short walk to the Dom. Staff were excellent, very friendly in every interaction. The property is very clean, but dated. The rooms are comfortable, nice mini bar and private baths. The parking option is excellent, private garage spot for a fee, well worth the cost.

Good value near train station

This is a good value hotel and we had a very spacious room. The service was good, staff were friendly, rooms were clean and breakfast was good value. The hotel building has been around for a while and I am not sure about the area around the hotel but seems ok.

This hotel is very well situated close to Cologne Central Station. The rooms are sizable with sofa area. Unfortunately there was no hot water on arrival and the problem was not sorted out until after breakfast the following day.

The hotel was wonderful, had a large area for my baby to Rome around, our room was all ready so we were able to check in early. It was super close to the cathedral which made it easy when we were exhausted from walking to the top. Easy access to the train and only 5 stops to the airport.

We were happy with the Appartel am Dom because it was definitely close to the places we enjoyed seeing. The room was very good but needed the air conditioner on all the time because of the warm weather. This was a bit noisy. The room overlooked the trains but that was quiet because the windows were very well insulated. The hotel staff were very responsive and made us comfortable. We paid for the breakfast and it was fresh and generous.

Hotel is a fairly close walk from the train station in Koln. The place is dated but not run down looking. Our toilet leaked, and they sent someone to take a look quickly. They cleaned up the mess but the toilet continued to leak a little when flushed. The toilet seat came loose and was never fixed, just had to be careful when sitting on it. Overall you can probably do a bit better for a similar price in the area. Staff was super friendly and helpful.

The hotel is well placed for the main tourist sites and in our case for visiting the Christmas markets. A very spacious and clean room with a large king size bed that had all we needed, including a small kitchenette with fridge and cooking rings. Friendly service at reception. We had no time to use it, but the hotel also has a fitness room.

My wife and I were thrilled with our stay here. The front desk staff were very friendly and incredibly helpful. We were upgraded free-of-charge, and our room was wonderful. This hotel is just a few minutes away from the central train station, so it's super convenient to get to. We could walk 5 minutes and get to some excellent restaurants. 5/5 - highly recommended!

Our hotel room was very spacious and comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The position is very handy to the Cologne city centre and the river once you figure out how to get across through the train station. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for good value close to the tourist attractions. The only thing lacking was tea and coffee making facilities in the room but otherwise it was excellent and spotlessly clean.

Less than 5 mins walk to the Cologne Cathedral and the Bahnhof. Despite the building and some amenities being a bit older, the room was immaculately majntained. Really loved the fact that it had an air conditioner in the room.

\"The outside doesn't look any too special....\" I thought to myself when I spied the Appartel am dom hotel as the train pulled into the Koln Hauptbahnhof. Nonetheless, it was an easy walk from the station following the clear directions from the hotel website. Well, looks, as they often are, can be deceiving, and this was a lovely hotel to stay in for my two nights in Cologne. Check in was friendly and easy, the room spacious and spotless, a welcome basket of fruit, candy and cookies, the windows updated (opened easily and provided soundproofing when closed) breakfast delicious and extensive - all in all a great place to call home for a few nights! I found the location great - only a very short distance from the station and through to the cathedral, and within easy walking distance across the bridge to the Koln Triangle where you can ascend to a 28th storey open observation deck called the Panorama and view the entire city (about 1.3km). I would definitely recommend this hotel and return to stay here should I come back to Cologne!

I was at the Dusseldorf K2016, but all the hotels in the area was occupied or overprice, so Cologne was the best options as the fair tickets includes the train and bus transportation on all the territory. As I arrived at the hotel the desk attendant was extremely professional, as the other two that I meet on the subsequent days. I was travelling alone, but I reserved a room for two peoples because I know that the room size can be an issue in Europe, so this one was just fine. The train station is just a few steps from the hotel, but the double windows insulates from any noise. The breakfast was good. I certainly recommend and I will stay again.

Bring your own slippers!

*Note: I was upgraded to a suite so I didn't actually experience the normal rooms.

Got a pleasant surprised when found out I was upgraded to a suite, the room was huge with a separate living area, and the bedroom was massive. Great service by the staff too, and nice location, a less than 5 mins walk from Koln Hbf (you can also walk around 10 mins north to take the trams which is another option).

The only bad thing is that the carpet is quite dirty, when I took off my shoes and socks to walk around the room, the soles of my feet started itching. Not sure if this problem is only applicable to my room or not, but bring your own slippers just in case! Also, the room key is used to both open the door and to lock the door from the inside, there are no sliding locks from the inside so anyone (e.g. staff) with the key can open your door in the middle of the night or if you forget to lock the door with your key when you get into your room.

the hotel is on the opposite side of the Hauptbahnof to the famous Dom, which is much cheaper area. However, I did feel less safe (subjective) to travel there at night. It is just on the corner of the main road, so overall it was ok and justified the price difference to same level hotels on the other side.

This hotel is a completely sufficient property near the main Cologne train station, with easy access to the Cologne Cathedral (10-15 min walk). The hotel is small and located on a dead-end, but adjacent to a busy intersection. With the windows closed, there was little noise penetration into the room. The room was larger than we expected and was clean and comfortable. Paired with the friendly staff and small breakfast service, I would recommend this hotel for anyone not wishing to stay in the larger chains.

quite close to the station. but at night, it feels a little quiet. the room we had was close to the highway. so if we did not close the bathroom window, we can hear cars zooming past first night. then i remembered to close the window.
hotel looks dated i.e. about 20 years old.
the bed makes squeaky noises.
