Great location and very quiet for being so close to the train station and cathedral. Room was small but comfortable and very clean. The breakfast buffet had lots of great quality options including made to order eggs.
Our only issue was not realizing that the front desk closes at 8pm, which isn’t really a thing that happens in Canada. This would have been fine if our train was on time, but we were delayed several hours and when we showed up late at night there was no way to get into our hotel so we ended up having to pay for a room at second hotel. The hotel staff the next morning insisted we received an email with directions for a code to get in but I did not receive any such email. So, mostly our responsibility for not reading the fine print but make sure you arrange late check in if you are going to arrive after 8pm.

Very close to train station and cathedral. Room was in attic up some very high stairs. There was a lot of noise from adjoining room due to closeness. Breakfast was good with freshly cooked eggs and lots of choice. Very friendly staff. Check in was unusual with using ipad and getting a code. Ideally placed for old town.

Hotel itself is showing its age, needs paint and repairs, staff not the most helpful. Good luck if you are bigger getting into the bathroom as sink and door make a tight squeeze to get into and weird 2 inch steps in places that make tripping easy.

This is not the most modern hotel, but the staff are the friendliest and most helpful I have come across from the check in to the breakfast service to the checking out procedure. The bathroom may have been a little small, but the welcoming nature of the place outweighed any slight hassles.

The room was very quiet although I did hear the TV in the neighboring room for about an hour, which was slightly annoying. Luckily it stopped at around the time I went to bed. Breakfast buffet was very good.

This hotel is disgusting, smelly, old, not maintained properly, only 1 socket in the room, the bathroom has very bad smell. the room is wretched. Does not worth the cost at all. I stayed 2 hours in the hope to get refund , and I left the room and ordered a taxi and went to stay at Hilton Koln, since it was impossible to remain in this room, and I hope to get refund. Although they refuse.
I think you are responsible for what you offer to clients and this hotel is horrible, although it gets some good reviews from clients, its not the truth. GO and check!
I expect to be refunded!

Unfortunately, upon my arrival I was told the hotel was overbooked and I was being sent to the hotel across the road. This would have been fine as I was still in the same location but I was assured it was “just as nice” and it certainly wasn’t. The hotel I was put it was not to the same standard or value as the hotel domspitzen so I feel I lost the value of what I paid for. I was told to return to the hotel for breakfast which was nice and the staff were lovely. However, overall I was extremely disappointed and was not happy at all with the hotel I was essentially dumped into

The breakfast alone is worth a visit.

The number one thing I would say about this hotel is the excellent breakfast they provide. It is like they have a Michelin chef working there with all of the unique options that are available. I would stay at this hotel again just for the breakfast.

When I initially arrived, they told me they would hold my luggage, and when I came back later, all of the luggage was in a pile in the lobby, which seemed a little odd, but they were able to get me checked in fairly quickly and into my room, which was very well decorated and comfortable. The location near the train station was very convenient.

We choose this hotel for the location , proximity to the Koln Dom and the railway station . The hotel is in an older building and our room was quite small. It doesn’t have air conditioning and it happened that during our stay in May 12-15 Koln experienced a heat wave of 26-27 degrees Celsius.
Staff was very attentive and helpful responding to our questions. Buffet breakfast was included and was excellent , so were all the restaurant staff.
Highlights of our stay in Koln : visiting the amazing gothic cathedral , including the Treasure museum under the Dom, visit at Ludwig museum of Modern Art , walks along the promenade of Rhine River .
PS. In our way by train from Belgium to Koln we stoped to see Aachen with the famous chapel built by Charlemagne. From Koln we also had a day trip to Bonn

The room is clean, breakfast is good and the location of the hotel is excellent. No safe, no amenities and the room smells of humidity and food when they are cooking in the kitchen.
Ceiling lamp not available only table lamps and the wall plug was not working we had to remove the tv plug to charge our laptops.
Reception staff not friendly at all.

Great city centre stay

We have stayed at the Dom Spitzen before because it is so convenient for the train station and cathedral centre. The staff are lovely and the breakfast selection excellent. My only wish would be for a downstairs lounge area, as there are just a couple of chairs in the reception area. If you struggle with stairs ask to be on the right hand side of the hotel because the left has no lift.

It’s within easy walking distance of the Köln Hbf station and the Dom. It is ideal for visiting the Christmas markets. Having the train virtually on the doorstep it’s a breeze for going to other places such as Aaken etc.
The staff are very friendly and helpful and the choices at breakfast are able to suit every diet or taste and set you up for the day

While I reserved this hotel I was given a room in another hotel one block away but with breakfast in this hotel. The reception was also in the other hotel. Rooms were not automatically serviced either. The disappointment was compounded by having an energy tax in addition to a 'city tax' sprung on me when I checked in. There was no warning in advance about this. I understand that the energy tax is a government initiative but I found it offputting and it has put me off returning to Germany. All in all i wouldn't recommend booking this hotel.

the staff are all very nice. the whole hotel gives a cosy family hotel vibe and are very friendly to foreign visitors. Even though we made a mistake of late check in due to reservation issue, the staff are still very patient in handling it and we appreciate that a lot.

This property is very close to the Cologne Hbf (main train station) and was very easy to locate. It's walkable to the Dom cathedral and the river front. The staff at the desk was very welcoming and even arranged food for us when we checked out before breakfast. The lift is very small (one person, maybe one suitcase) and there are a lot of stairs. Our room was simple and comfortable, and we even went out onto the roof-top terrace to watch the sunset. We would stay here again if we return!

Good location, great breakfast

Hotels in Cologne are very expensive and the rooms seem to be very small. The room we were assigned to was on the top floor (chambre de bonne) and the bathroom was very tiny (we are slim ladies and we had barely any room to move around without bumping into things). The best part of our stay was complimentary breakfast service at the hotel. The layout was neat with just the right amount and kinds of breakfast foods. The kitchen also cooks eggs and bacon to your liking. Staff members were very kind and helpful as well. Hotel is located right across from the Central Train Station and is walking distance to Cologne Cathedral.

I was not happy and I dont think my needs were met - the staff were nice and accomodating but they either could give me a part of what I needed: either an ensuite bathroom (for Euro10 extra) without wifi or no ensuite and wifi! A challenge if you are there for work and have to use the dining room to work in. The place does need a refurbishment and ideally with some soundproofing or air conditioning. I did stay in a hotel 50 metres from this one before with all these facilities including coffee maker in the room and no real difference in price. Domspitzen was my choice I accept that but I would not go back and I am bemused at the high scores it gets.

Hotel's location is excellent - easy access to train station and the cathedral. The breakfast is the best we've had on this trip, even includes made to order omelets. The staff are particularly helpful and friendly. Though the room was small, it was charmingly appointed and the beds were comfortable.

Staff's service mind can't be poorer, they don't want to help you with anything
Just ask for the water at breakfast and got nothing except his back walking away
In my all hotels I've ever stayed this is the worst one of all

If someone would like to stay around there
I suggest pay a little bit more or less to stay at other hotels
There are tons of better hotel around there

Liked the place. Breakfast (as many others have said) was top hole. Good location, very friendly and helpful staff. Only complaint: tea/coffee making faculty in room would be really handy - don't know if it's a British thing but nice to have a hot drink before you get dressed (or go to bed).

I brought cheese from Amserdam and wanted to keep it cold for my diration of stay... Mr. Stefan was happy to keep it in the hotel's refrigerator. Bf is sufficient w yoir choice of eggs. Other staffs were equally pleasant to deal with... .Will return here to stay.

Look no further when in Cologne

This a wonderful hotel that I would heartily recommend. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was amazing. Nice variety and eggs cooked to order. Great location near Cathedral and private parking nearby. The hotel manager saw that I was a \"senior\" and moved us to a lower room without my asking, thank you! We could not have asked for more at this price. We will be back for sure.

Good location and breakfast, but small room

Hotel is close to train station and walkable to the sights, good breakfast, friendly staff. However, the room was very very small and the bathroom even smaller. The toilet was literally right under the sink! Don't know how a larger person would be able to use it... also no storage for luggage and it was quite loud (from the hallways and the street).

The hotel stay was very pleasant, the staff does everything to make your stay pleasant.
The hotel's location is excellent, a 2-minute walk from the main train station and close to the other tourist attractions of the city.
What is missing is that the opinion will be perfect. There is no air conditioning in the rooms, so you sleep with an open window that allows the mosquitoes to enter the room and make a party on you.

Tiniest Bathroom in the World!

some rooms do not have access by lift. Our didn't and it was 52 steps up. There are other rooms even higher, 78 steps to them.
Our en-suite bathroom was the tiniest I have ever seen.

Great for a few days away

The hotel was in a great location right next to the train station, the room was a good size and clean, there was a great variety of breakfasts and the staff could not have been more helpful, even preparing a lunch bag for us as we missed breakfast due to an early flight. Bathroom might need updating and for double duvets on the double bed instead of single duvets, but I really enjoyed my stay.

Absolutely loved this hotel situated so close to the railway station and Cologne Catgedral in a clean and quiet road , a real haven from the hustle and bustle of the city .
All the Staff were amazingly professional , helpful and friendly to include checking me in with efficiency and a smile after my late arrival past midnight .
The room was sparkling clean and of good size with a very comfortable bed.There were a number of stairs to 4th floor but a very efficient lift next to reception on the ground floor which was perfectly situated for carrying my luggage .
Breakfast was fresh ,very varied and delicious .
I thought the hotel was good value for money considering it's great location, cosy decor with lots of attention to detail and great staff .I would definately stay there again.

Hotel used as overnight stop conveniently close to Cologne main railway station. Reception quick and easy with good recommendation for somewhere to eat. Excellent English spoken. Room was small and basic but clean and ok for overnight stay. Breakfast was included in the rate and was excellent. Overall good and would use again.

the hotel is just minutes away walk from Koln hbf. Although the interior is more or less dated, the service is really good, all the receptionist are friendly and helpful. Surprisingly the wifi was quite good and fast! Would stay again next time in Koln.

I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived at this hotel. I don't often book 3 stars but booked this based on reviews. I loved it here. The staff were so nice. As I was travelling alone, I did get that single room through the restaurant that others have complained about but I didn't mind. The wifi was bad but I was told this when I checked in. The room was big and clean and it has such nice touches. The breakfast was so amazingly good. They take a lot of care and everything was clean and tasty. Eggs to order is a great idea and the selection is huge. The location was great for me, near the Dom and the main station. Great stay here.

Nice hotel in the city centre

Lovely hotel with friendly staff in a very convenient area. I booked a single room and was pleasantly surprised by its size. My room was comfortable and quiet except for a little morning noise from the (delicious) included breakfast. Nothing a pair of earplugs can't help if you're a late/light sleeper. My only minor complaint is that Wi-Fi was spotty. Overall, though, I enjoyed the hotel and would both recommend it and stay there on a return visit to the city.

The people are nice there.
The room was horrible paying 1800 euro for 4 nights.Even if I was paying 100 euro for four nights the room is horrible.
The door could not open and close as I had to turn the key 10 to 15 times as it was broken.They knew about this problem and have done nothing.They were just smiling and saying about the magic key.It was really very funny. I think this room was a storage or WC (sorry) and they have changed it to a tiny room. Getting in the room you had to walk to the corner to turn on the lights. I have never had such bad experience. People were nice, the breakfast was pretty good but the room was like staying in a terrible hostel or student room.

Basic but central Base for sightseeing

Very close to station,single room was simple but more than suitable for a couple of nights. Very close to cathedral and museums.Good WiFi,excellent European breakfast. Had to wait for the key several times but not a big deal.
If you are a tourist get a Cologne Card. 8 museums totally for free over two days (and Ludwig has some great paintings and cafe) and free transport for one day. Beats the he'll out of other cities museum cards. Especially Vienna! Got mine from the Romans museum ticket desk.

Fab Hotel - shame about the neighbourhood.

We stayed for two nights, very central hotel, ideal for our needs.
Breakfasts were brilliant with a delightful and extensive buffet selection plus cooked bacon, eggs, tomatoe. Room on the front a little noisy, but we were right i the heart of the city. If we had air con' we could have closed the windows cutting out noise and smells.

Nice hotel, handly location, friendly staff!

Myself and 8 friends were over in Cologne to catch some football, beer and food! The hotel is 5 mins walk from the central station so very handy. My room was small but perfectly clean plus nice and quiet. Breakfast was good, lots of variety plus the eggs were cooked to order.

There's a terrace with cold beers available on a 'trust' basis, which is a nice touch. Overall, thoroughly recommended.

Not near Schiphol Airport

The hotel is new and everything is new. It has great amenities: HD TV, heated floor in bath room, about 5 electrical outlets.

On the down side: (1) The pillows are foam rubber and too big to sleep on. I ended up putting the pillow slip cover on the throw cushion. This was still too big but better than the bed pillows. (2) We did not receive the 8 AM wakeup call we left on the night before we departed until 8:10 AM. They need to work on that. (3)We already knew they had no alcohol license, so no beer.

The hotel is not near the airport. It is an 8 block walk to the train station that goes to the airport. We arrived at Schiphol airport about 11 pm by train from Frankfurt. We took a taxi thinking the hotel was near the airport. It turns out, the hotel in west Amsterdam. It cost us 40 euro to take a taxi. The train we were on stopped at Amsterdam Central train station on the way to Schiphol. If we had good information about where the hotel is, we could have gotten off the train at Amsterdam Central. From Amsterdam Central we could have taken the tram which stops across the street in front of the hotel

Great hotel!

This place is great and really cute. My room was on the 5th floor (no wifi up there) so that's really my only issue. Everything else was fantastic, GREAT service, wonderful staff. If you're looking for super modern, this is not your hotel, but it's perfect for a weekend trip.

Hotel Domspitzen - very convenient station/centre

Single room was small, but comfortable, clean, with excellent bathroom. Comfortable bed. The winning feature of this hotel is the excellence of the staff. Very good assistance and friendly attitude at Reception.
Excellent breakfast. It is very handy indeed for the station and the centre, and there are good restaurants and cafes in the local area.

Really excellent front desk staff were most welcoming, personable and helpful - made all the difference. Hotel is really well located and room appeared recently updated and was very comfortable. Excellent value for money. And Koln is a really visitor friendly city. Particularly enjoyed cycling along bike path next to Rhein.

Great location by the train station. I got to the hotel at 9:30am after a 9 hour flight and they had a room open at their sister hotel a block down the street. It was very nice of them to allow me to check in so early and get some sleep. Great staff and nice room.

Excellent staff and breakfast

We stayed for 2 nights and found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. The room was very clean, the bed comfortable and as we were at the back of the hotel, very quiet. There was a downside, our room was at the top of the stairs to reception and we could hear people talking and then noisy and heavy footed people climbing the stairs. It's not a disaster but might not please everyone. The breskfat was outstanding, a great selection of bread, meat, cheese and fruit as well as eggs on request.
The hotel is located across the road from the Hauptbahnhof which is only 15-20 minutes from the airport.

Excellent service and breakfast, slightly tired rm

The rooms were a little tired but the helpful staff and excellent breakfast makeup for it. Minor gripe - room 15 (a suite) is close to reception and the door is paper thin so you hear every person that checks in (all through the night).

Excellent fresh breakfast, quiet location

We stayed here our first night in Germany after 20 hrs of flight travel and a 9 hour time change. We arrived completely exhausted to a cheerful and helpful smiling woman at the front desk who checked with the cleaning staff if our room could be ready early and it was. I am sure we got lucky on the early check in but we appreciated the effort in trying to accommodate us. After a quick nap and a shower we were off to the cathedral in the city center which is just a quick walk through the train station that is right across the street from the hotel. Plenty of cute little restaurants right nearby. Our two favorite things about the hotel were the quiet back street it is situated on ( mind you we were here on a Sunday night so the bar across the street may be loud late on weekend nights ) the best thing was a great fresh breakfast with many choices savory tarts, cereals great meats and cheeses what a great way to start the morning. Many friendly faces coming out of the kitchen to great you as well. On the room we were on the top floor twin double room was a little on the small side ( this is common for many mid priced hotels in Europe) so expect a small shower, cramped bathroom and tiny elevator. Building is older but well kept. Parking is available on block away in a secure garage for 10 euro/ day. WiFi is free and fast enough but not super fast. All in all we really enjoyed our quick stay here. Should we be back in Cologne we will definitely be staying here again.

Hotel Domspitzen Köln

I had the room from the other side, I guess it was the old side. I had had lot of time to spend in my room but it served it's purpose. It was bit chilly and I tried to adjust the heaters which made it better. Bathroom was very small but I didn't mind as I wasn't staying so long. Fitted carpet gave the room very old and shabby feeling. Some noise from the other rooms and corridor could be heard inside the room. Staff was very polite and helpfull. Breakfast was avarage. If you are vegetarian there are not lot for you. I can't eat food that has any parts of milk and it made the choises at the breakfast very limited. Hotel is situated very conviniently. i used the trains a lot so the vicinity of the railwaystation was important to me.

Das Hotel liegt sehr in der Nähe des Bahnhofes (Rückseite) und ist daher extrem gut mit dem Zug erreichbar. Ich hatte ein Zimmer mit separaten Bad, es war das günstigste. Wenn man nachts häufiger raus müsste, wär es sicher nicht das richtige. Hervorzuheben ist das gute Frühstück.

Lovely receptionist at check-in (a man), really rude at check-out: the lady clearly wasn't happy that I could speak German.
The bed was way too soft.
The room was sparkling clear, nicely decorated and very quiet.
