Nice overnight!!

Trendy hotel - limited dinner menu

Gorgeous hotel! Very comfortable and stylish. Dinner menu was very disappointing though - but apparently we arrived whilst they were revamping the menu. It would’ve been nice to have more choice. Excellent location if you’re attending an event at Koelnmesse.

No cold water and when we informed reception they said they will send someone the following day, we only had a night there and so they literally didn’t care and so we had to use the showers of another room as we we’re travelling together.

We did not have a great time in Dorint an der Messe Köln. First, I did not think that we were assigned to our booked room type. We have booked the superior room, however, the hotel gave us a room that was identical to a comfort room as shown on their website. The staff insisted that a superior room was given to us, but the size of the given room was clearly the same as the comfort room type. In addition, poor hygiene of the hotel restaurant was noticed. We had breakfast in the hotel for four days, in two of the four days, we saw a mouse crossing in the middle of the restaurant. Other customers and even the staff also noticed that. We were truly concerned about the hygiene for the catering area. I would appreciate if there comes any follow-up action for these problems. Thank you.

Have stayed here multiple times on business trips but think this has been my last unfortunately.

Positives:
Good Location for the Messe/trade show hall
Wi-fi was ok
Staff seemed polite

Negatives:
Rooms are really scratched and marked and not cleaned properly, looking really run down.
Small space in the room, bland and boring, no decor.
Terrible soundproofing, can hear everything.
No kettle or coffee machine in the room.
I asked reception if I could take a coffee from the breakfast room even though I hadn't booked breakfast, she said 'sure' implying it would be free but I was charged when leaving.
Area seemed a bit unsafe, lots of unsavoury looking guys hanging around outside.

I booked for 2 nights in the middle of November 2021.

The photo in the booking looks great - the superior room. However, when I arrived at the hotel, the room type I was given looks exactly like the essential room (which is cheaper). The hotel staff was nice enough to check. And checked they did, but told me that the room I was given is indeed the superior room. They only relented and brought me to the correct room type when I showed them photos as marketed on the Expedia page. That was then I was told that there is only one room in the entire hotel that looks like the photo marketed (room 94 on level 1). Everything was well until midnight when I realise that my heating system was not working. That was when I was informed that the hotel does not have heating at night, heating system would only restart the next day. I could not keep warm despite doubling up on the blankets. It was winter when I was at the hotel and I don't think it is appropriate hospitality to make the guests suffer in the cold at night in the middle of winter.

And because I was told I could not check out that night, I requested to check out immediately the next morning and get a refund on my remaining night. However I was then told that I am not able to check out after 1 insufferable night and I would not get a refund on the remaining night I did not spend in the hotel

For travellers who are budget conscious, the nearest train station is a good 20 mins away and the pathway is badly lit and not safe

Trendy and welcoming Hotel in Cologne

The hotel was warm, welcoming, friendly, trendy and clean. My room had a nicely sized \"office\" with desk and chair and the bed was large (not two mattresses together). Room temperature was great and the mini bar was generously stocked. I will definitely stay again!

The rooms are quiet and fairly spacious. The shower was awesome! Unfortunately the biggest disappointment was the front staff. We asked a couple of basic questions....where is there food by us and where is a laundromat. They had no answer for either. We ventured out and found a couple of places to eat not far from us. Then we Googled the closest laundromat and found one right away. These are basic questions a front staff should be able to answer.

I was robbed by the staff. \"They\" Went through my luggage and stoled my GOPRO 7 BLACK, 3 Batteries, dual Charger, Car mount for the GOPRO, 2 MICRO 256GB Cards and a $1000.00 in cash. Hotel's reply was... It's not our problem, should have taken your luggage with you. Really? when I am in a room for 6 days I should pack up my clothing and do what with it while I am gone EACH DAY?

For us it was on the wrong side of the river in not the best area of town - a bit run down area under renewal. Bed was not to our taste and pillows were poor leading to a bad nights sleep. Overall the hotel was defitbwlt acceptable but not enough to bring us back

good stay in 'junior suite'

Stayed 17/08 in a 'junior suite with terrace', at a cost of £173 for the night.

The decor was very nice and a bit different than standard boring hotel rooms, but a little bit scratched/marked in some places. The room was a bit more spacious than average but not huge. Nice terrace balconies that you could see quite a distance, would have made more use of them if it was warmer outside!

Wifi was good, parking available outside on the street. Free coffee available at reception in the morning. Very convenient for access to the koelnmesse convention centre, 5 minute walk.

My only negatives were that there is no kettle or coffee machine in the room itself which is annoying, and also that the shower doesn't drain properly and has left a big stain on the floor from all the previous showers over time.

I do recommend this hotel and will stay again, but the price I paid was a bit expensive for the room I received - possibly because I only booked a week before staying.

good quality hotel for a tourist visit

We were a little concerned about the location when we arrived as it was in a housing estate but our stay was good. The hotel was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was about 20 minute walk from the Rhine park and a further 15 minutes to the Cathedral so a good base for sightseeing.

Weekend break

Stayed here for a couple of nights. Lovely hotel and staff were friendly. Shame there was a picture of a naked woman in the room. This is something that I feel strongly about. I wouldn't stay there again because of this. It's called an arts hotel, but a picture of a naked women is not art it's more pornography.

Misleading photographs of rooms.

When reserving this hotel I decided to upgrade to a Deluxe Double Room paying extra to do so. After checking in we were directed to another building outside which surprised me as no mention had previously been made of this. Our room was cold and uninviting with bare concrete floor and cold hard white laminate surfaces. We tried to turn up the heat on the thermostat but it seemed to make no difference. I went to the reception to check if we had been given the correct room and was informed that we had in fact been upgraded to a superior room. I pointed out that the room was not the same as the photographs on our confirmation nor was it the same as the online photographs when I made the reservation. The confirmation showed a room with some soft furnishings (a leather chair, leather covered exercise pommel and a wood appearance floor), the receptionist assured me that our room was better and was in fact 4 star. We travel often and know what to expect from a four star hotel and what we were given was not what we were expecting.

We used it for Gamescon 2018. Just down the road. Parking is excellent and hotel were happy to let us park for the day after checkout. Little bit out of town but you can jump on the train for a 2-3 stops for the centre

Staff kept opening the door, even when I was in the room. There was no “ do not disturb” sign to hang on door. It was very noisy! Hotel was just ok, but with all the other problems, it’s not worth it. There are much better more professional hotels!

Really lovely hotel. Very modern and extremely clean. Bathroom was very nice and wonderful shower that was always hot. However, for me, the bed was way too hard and felt like I was sleeping on concrete - which has left me with a bad, painful back. Also, the hotel is far out the centre and you need to get the tram to be able to get anywhere. Nothing in immediate vicinity of the hotel - very residential. However this did mean it was nice and quiet!

Lovely hotel, nicely decorated. In a residential area however was close to a tram stop. It was also close to a Lidl so easy to buy supplies if necessary. Room was spacious. No tea/coffee making facilities in rooms however free coffee is available in the reception in the morning. Our toilet was blocked on the first day, which we reported and we assume it was resolved whilst we were out as it was fine the next day. Made another minor complaint which was not fully dealt with as I was told the manager was not there to authorise anything, so I am yet to email them. Staff printed our return boarding passes for us which was most helpful.

Nothing more to say. Average + vv rude. Not breakfast team or housekeeping they were terrific. Make receptionist actually yelling at me that was shower was good enough when I asked for bath and offered to pay. I was shocked. Never in Germany. Customer service is usually top.

Hotel is ok to fine but in a high regeneration area for immigrants and housed locals. All ok but hotel and visitors stick out. Only stay here if you know the area

A great hotel in a great location for a great stay

From the moment of our arrival the standard of service was faultless. Everyone who works at Burns has a welcoming smile and are very happy to help. This was our first time staying here and the standard of accommodation was extremely high, the rooms are spacious, clean, light and airy.
The facilities met our need and it was easy to get into the city centre either by walking or taking the tram which is at the end of the street. We would certainly stay here again as the location for us was perfect sooooo peaceful and the comfortable beds make for a good night's sleep. Parking is a bonus and we did not use the car for the duration of our visit as public transport was easy to use.Thank you for a great stay everybody

The worst hotel I have stayed in

Part of a tour around Europe, this was definitely the low spot! Room floor filthy, towels grey and thin, there was a hair in the breakfast milk and a dead fly on the table. It is in a very downtown neighbourhood and didn't feel very safe walking to the hotel from the train. Our toilet blocked and could not be used, although it was dealt with quite quickly. Never again.

Very nice, chic hotel in Deutz area. the suite is really large and comfortable.The room was very nicely decorated. Breakfast was really nice with a huge variety. The only problem the room lacked was a bathtub. I'd very much enjoyed a bathtub in a room taht luxurious. Will definitely stay here if I ever visit Cologne.

Great hotel--just bring your own pillow!

I really do like this hotel--it is in a great location near the Lanxess arena, and the price could not be beat. The parking was great and you can't beat the price--FREE. The only real issue I had was the very uncomfortable bed and pillows in the room. If you are going to this hotel and live close, I would suggest bringing your own pillow. The staff was great, the bar inside was nice, and we had a car to drive to eat at outside locations--you will definitely need this.

The only other issue I have is that they must have been remodeling the rooms above or below us. We were woken up by construction, specifically hammering, at 0830. After a late night out at a concert, this was VERY annoying. We were in a non-smoking room and the workers there were clearly smoking as it wafted through my windows. I finally was so frustrated we ended up leaving a before 10 am just to get back to our homes an hour away to get some real sleep. I would just suggest the hotel limit booking rooms in that area if there is work. Other then that, the staff was great, the hotel was nice, and the price was definitely worth it. I would go back--just not in a room near any inside construction.

We stayed for a weekend in July and were very satisfied with the hotel overall. Reception and hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful and the rooms and hotel overall were very clean and spacious. Breakfast was very extensive enjoyable and the breakfast/bar area was very modern. About a 30-40min walk to the main part of the city and although not the best surrounding area, I would definitely recommend the hotel.

Conveniently near Messe for trade shows

A nice, clean hotel that's easy walking distance to the Messe. Wi-Fi costs an extra per day, and you need a separate password for each day, which was a little inconvenient, but workable, and the English instructions on purchasing it were not translated well in the room. The front desk was quite helpful, though. Breakfast buffet also cost extra but was good.

Won't be Returning. . .

We traveled to Cologne for Holiday - we were a little dissappointed with the hotel - we were placed on the first floor next to the entrance and with there being no airconditioning had our windows open - we heard everything and everyone which didn't allow for a good nights sleep. We requested to move but the hotel was not open to relocating us. Internet was a Euro an hour and required us to go to the front desk each time we wanted to use it to sign up. We would not be interested in staying there again. . . .

What a great hotel. Modern, efficient

What a great hotel. Modern, efficient and customer friendly. Rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable and breakfast was oustanding. The Receptionist was welcoming and extremely helpful.

Although not a problem at all for us, lack of dinner in the evening and lack of any discernable custom in the Bar may be an issue.

For us, it just added to the overall quietness of this out of town location, less than 5 minutes walk from a frequent tram service (routes 3 and 4) into the heart of Cologne.

Superb value for money, a memorable stay, would not hestitate to go back or recommend that others do.

Friendly staff, clean rooms, firm beds and definitely a recommendation for the times without exhibitions going on. The location is great. You can easily walk directly to the Cologne Dom within 30 minutes, crossing the famous Hohenzollernbruecke and to the next tram station is just a 5 minute walk. The only two items we found missing in the hotel room were free wireless internet and a way to boil some water.

When I go back I will stay there again

All in all we were very satisfied with the hotel, it is only 2 stops from the city centre. Very quiet, close to a shop. The staff is very nice, helpful. I really enjoyed the surprise Easter Bunny at our door step. All in all I wwill stay there again when I am in Cologne.

The service at reception was very slow. We ended up being helped by a very helpful guy. But the one who welcomed us was rude and unhelpful, even getting into an argument with another guest about the service level. Everything else about the hotel was great. We didn’t stay for breakfast (booking made me put a score!) but the hotel room smelt nice, the bed was comfortable, the room was well equipped and modern. We were given free parking as we had to wait so long at reception which was really appreciated.

Excellent hotel, comfortable, nice designs, but sadly I experienced a flooding in the bathroom just taking a shower. Arrived Very late, tired and this happened. Phone was not working, rooms in a basement had not network thus I had to go to reception at midnight to ask for help. They gave me another room where the heater was turned on at 32 degrees! So impossible to sleep straight with such heat (even the walls and bed were extremely hot so no time to cool down. The personel tried to help bit couldn't do much, and I was not in the best mood that late to wait at reception.

Eigentlich ein gutes Hotel, das ich gebucht hatte, weil laut Expedia-Seite täglich ab 6:30 Uhr Frühstück angeboten wird. Da ich um 7 Uhr abreisen musste, hätte das gepasst. Tatsächlich gibt es allerdings erst ab 7 Uhr Frühstück! Ich habe also ein relativ teures Frühstück gebucht und bezahlt, das ich dann nicht bekommen habe. Als ich um 7 Uhr auschecken wollte, war niemand an der Rezeption. Die Servicekraft vom Frühstück sagte, die Kollegin sei vielleicht auf dem Klo... naja. Nach geschlagenen 10 Minuten kam die Mitarbeiterin. Ich hatte es mittlerweile sichtlich eilig, habe noch einmal erwähnt, dass ich die Geschichte mit dem Frühstück nicht in Ordnung fand. Die Mitarbeiterin sagte, das wäre wohl ein Missverständnis (was kann man an einer angegeben Uhrzeit \"täglich ab 6:30 Uhr missverstehen?). Darauf wurde mit angeboten, dass die Kollegen mir jetzt noch etwas zusammenpacken könnten, das dauere nur 5 Minuten. Als ich sagte, dass ich es eilig habe, wurde mir noch angeboten, ein Taxi für mich zu rufen... während meine Bahn jeden Moment eeg war.
Das Zimmer war groß, sauber, ruhig und schön, der Mitarbeiter beim Empfang auch sehr freundlich. Schade, dass hier falsche Infos vorliegen und der Aufenthalt dadurch getrübt wird. Dafür ist es dann auch zu teuer.

Unser Buchung wurde vor Ort storniert, mit der Begründung das Hotel sei bereits ausgebucht und es hätte ein „Systemfehler“ bei unsere Buchung gegeben. Die Reservierung hätte aus dem Grund gar nicht stattfinden dürfen. Sowas hab ich noch nie erlebt.
Das Hotel hat uns auf eine 15 min. entfernten Hotel einen Zimmer gebucht. Taxikosten und Parkgebühren würden sie übernehmen, laut Mitarbeiter an der Rezeption. Nichts davon ist geschehen. Daher kann ich diesen Hotel definitiv nicht empfehlen! Nie wieder!

Wir waren eine Nacht für eine Veranstaltung in der Arena und im Bootshaus in diesem Hotel. Die Lage und das Personal sind wirklich super. Das Standard Doppelzimmer allerdings recht klein, es hat sehr feucht/ muffig gerochen und die Sauberkeit hat etwas zu wünschen übrig gelassen. Vielleicht hatten wir hier aber auch einfach nur Pech mit unserem Zimmer.

Super Hotel für eine Übernachtung in Köln , wenn man ein Konzert in der LANXESS Arena besuchen will. Straßenbahn direkt 200m runter. Man kommt mit der Straßenbahn überall hin kann aber auch die 2 Stationen zur LANXESS Arena fahren und von dort aus auch über den Dom in die City laufen. Alles leicht erreichbar.

Überdurchschnittlich gutes Hotel! Wir hatten ehrlich gesagt keine Erwartungen, da das Zimmer für Kölner Verhältnisse ziemlich billig war. Als wir ankamen, sahen wir eine unfassbar schöne Bar, sehr freundliche Mitarbeiter und pure Sauberkeit. Das Zimmer war TOP, Handtücher da, keine Fusel und sehr gute Seife :D! Das einzige was mir gefehlt hätte wäre ein Föhn, ist aber nicht weiter schlimm. Gehweg bis zur U-Bahn ca 5min und ansonsten TOP Lage! Sehr gerne wieder

Seit 12/2022 geschlossen

Als wir an der Adresse ankamen und kein aktives Hotel wahrnehmbar war, riefen wir bei der in der Buchungsbestätigung angegebenen Telefonnummer an. Dort wurde uns mitgeteilt, dass das Hotel schon seit Dezember 2022 nicht mehr existiert und wir eigentlich eine Benachrichtigung hätten erhalten sollen. Dies war jedoch leider nicht der Fall. Zum Glück sagte uns die Dame am Telefon dann jedoch, dass wir in das Dorint am Heumarkt umgebucht wurden. Dort war es wirklich super und wir waren mit allem sehr zufrieden. Der anfängliche Schock war somit schnell vergessen.

Der Fön war kaputt, es gab keine Wattestäbchen auf dem Zimmer, es hat bei Ankunft im Zimmer stark nach Zigarette gerochen, nach kurzem Lüften war der Geruch zum Glück verschwunden.
