Everything what we wanted to do, we did and enjoyed. Bikes were available at no cost, we enjoyed to be able to bike to other resorts. Every day you had the choice for dinner outside or inside. The location is great, away from the busy San Pedro town, Golf Cart City. Nothing the people in the resort, do all to make your stay perfect.

We had a nice stay at Portofino. The staff were friendly, the location was beautiful - right along the beach. Our room was nice and clean. We loved the corn hole game, delicious libations, and tasty food. The front desk staff were helpful in coordinating a golf-cart for us, as well as a ride to/from the airport. The nature surrounding the property was very peaceful!

This is our second time at Portofino, and it was excellent. Far enough away from the city to be quiet and peaceful. Close enough to get to great restaurants and bars. The staff is friendly and readily available at all times. Accommodations are clean and quaint.

Their dive shop has everything you would want to do to experience the sea life and pristine waters. I recommend a dive or snorkeling adventure with Kris. The fresh coconuts with rum just down the road from Steve and Angel and Roddie’s cocktails at the bar. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The resort was exactly as described. The location and grounds were beautiful. Our cabana was perfect. We walked right onto the soft sand and steps from the pool and sea.

All the staff were super from the hosts, bartenders, restaurant team, ground keepers and security with dog Max. Plus having the charter Carpe Diem on the dock made it so easy to do reef activities and that team was super!

We loved Belize and staying on North side of island where was so chill, but yet many restaurant options nearby. Easy to rent a golf cart to get around island, and fun to go into San Pedro for a day.

We will go back to Belize and Portofino and scuba and snorkel with Chris and ML at Carpe Diem! And highly recommend to anyone looking for more laid back, but beautiful place to stay.

We met many people on our stay at other resorts who would come back in the evening just to dine at Portofino. Or use Carpe Diem for reef activities.

We stayed in Room 2 it was beautiful. The bathroom was behind the bedroom wall with an entry on each side which was nice.
I found it odd that there was no door on the toilet area or curtain on the shower.
even with just my husband and I in the room I would have liked a door and or curtain on those two areas for some privacy.
The restaurant was amazing very good food we ate several meals there breakfast, lunch and dinner and all were delicious.
There were a lot of fly’s and biting red ants under the big Sea Grape Tree where the out door dining tables are. It would be nice if they could do some insect control.
There were some iguanas that would come right up table side looking for food personally I loved it but some might not enjoy that if they are scared of them. I definitely enjoyed my stay.
The staff were very friendly and housekeeping was great.
We were able to run a room tab which was very convenient. I did take a photo of each slip after I signed it to keep track.I did have one bartender ask me to sign one slip twice which I had reminded him that I had already signed the first slip. I was a little uneasy about doing it, but in the end at checkout I went over the bill, they looked it up and he put one slip in for our drinks and the second slip he turned it in as a tip for himself despite me leaving a cash tip on the bar which was very unethical. That does not reflect on Portofino itself. It was the act of one worker. I made the front desk aware and they refunded me.

We loved our VIP suite. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. We only had 1 issue was with the A/C, and it was resolved ASAP. We had air by afternoon.
The staff was super from the shuttle service, reception, and wait staff to the maintenance, it was all fantastic.

The only complaint was on the island itself. The roads were terrible and they need to be maintained.

We had a wonderful time at Portofino and we’re already planning our next stay. The staff were so friendly and helpful. They all know your name by the first day and are genuinely happy to have a conversation with you. The resort was beautiful, the rooms were great sizes and private. We loved hanging out by the pool and walking along the beach. The tour company on the dock was incredible as well and very flexible to your needs and schedule.

We enjoyed the smaller and quieter feel you get when staying up north. The resort is about a 35 minute drive from San Pedro, but that was a plus for us. The hotel offers pick up and drop off to the airport and will help you rent a golf cart or call a taxi. They made it very easy for us to explore and get around the island.

Portofino provided one of the best hospitality experiences we’ve ever had and we can’t wait to return.

Wow, the staff here really go above and beyond to take care of you and make sure you feel pampered.The grounds were beautiful and relaxing, the cabanas were absolutely stunning...rustic vibes but super well kept and premium feeling. The restaurant on site puts out some seriously tasty food. Only drawback is that the property is about 30 min out from San Pedro, so you will need a cart if you want to leave the hotel at all. This property also has it's own dive shop on their pier which is super convenient for booking reef excursions, just be aware that they book up fast and well in advance during the busier months. Loved it here, will most definitely be back!

The staff were very accommodating, kind, and helpful. The first room had a few leaks during our first night after a rainstorm, and we were upgraded to a larger room for 2 nights. The chef was excellent, and each meal was high-quality. Breakfast was amazing - continental was free. We went on two on-site snorkeling trips. Both of these trips were outstanding. The pool was clean and perfect for cooling off and relaxing. On the downside, we came in October. The mosquitoes were vicious. Sitting outside without bug spray after a rain and in the evenings was uncomfortable. The seaweed made the resort beach unusable, and the water did not get clear enough to swim in until you were 100 feet or more offshore. Additionally, the seaweed had an offensive smell that was difficult to get away from. Lastly, the roads to and from the resort were in terrible condition. Giant potholes, runoffs, and standing water made it an uneasy drive to town or the west side of the island in a golf cart. We highly recommend this resort because of its beauty, staff, amenities, and food service. However, double-check with the resort about the best times to come for the cleanest beachfront. The online photos of the beach are deceiving.

The location was very nice but we didn't enjoy the food. It was too pretentious and overpriced. We went in early October, off season, and it was very very empty, probably had 3-4 rooms only rented out. The mosquitoes and no see insects were horrendous. We literally got hundreds of bites on exposed skin even with bug spray.

The resort is average. Upon arriving everything was good until the smell of rotten eggs hit you in face from the seaweed. As they do a good job to keep the beach clean there is no getting in the water here or avoiding the smell. I understand this is out of their control but guest should be more made aware of this. After stomaching the smell for 2 days I had to leave the resort and find a place on the other side the island to stay. The food was good but nothing to write home about and the drinks were average.

This was a beautiful, quiet resort - Perfect for the couple or family that isn't in for a touristy like experience. The bungalows are just fabulous - look out over the pool then the the water. Can't swim in the water due about 6-8 feet of seaweed from the beach into the water - which is very smelly mostly in the mornings. This resort is about a 30 minute golf cart ride away from anything. So if you want a private peaceful getaway, this is it!!

We LOVED our stay here. Perfect for our honeymoon!

We absolutely loved our stay at Portofino. It was so quiet and relaxing and the grounds are so beautiful. We stayed in a cute little thatched room bungalow with a very spacious bathroom. Also loved the huge water dispenser in the rooms that was refilled daily it kept us hydrated! We loved the hammock on the porch and used it often. The complimentary breakfast was simple and so good. We also really liked the lunch menu. The fish and chips were so good. We went to dinner one night but it didn’t have the things we were looking for like ceviche and the delicious Belizean cuisine that we couldn’t get enough of. We loved the drinks from the bar all day at the pool the mojitos were so so good. We also found it so easy to book excursions bc it’s right there on the dock and they are wonderful, you really don’t have to leave!

Only cons are-
if you want to go to downtown often it’s a bit of a drive but you are closer to things like secret beach, truck stop, Pur (one of our fav places) they do have a scheduled boat shuttle that can take you but we didn’t take advantage of that because we found the drive kind of fun and loved stopping at random places

Can’t really do long walks on the beaches. It’s not the Portofino property, it’s the properties around it don’t really keep up their beaches so a path isn’t clear.

We had a wonderful 6 night stay here. The staff was exceptional. The cabanas could use some updating but I wasn't bothered since we didn't spend much time in there. We were the unfortunate guests to stay in Cabana 3. I do not recommend this one... If I ever go back I will specifically request to get a different room. Cabana 3 is LOUD. At night we couldn't fall asleep because the kitchen staff was cleaning... talking loudly and banging pots and pans. Same thing early in the morning. This is my only complaint.

Very quiet resort. Staff was attentive and very personable (Evelyn, Luis, Marco) Service from reception to grounds impressive, always placing guest’s needs first. Food was of high quality, individual portioned and priced relative to other resort dining venues (not bar food).
Only draw back was the amount of seaweed, sargassum, which collects daily on beach. Obviously outside of their control. The staff literally works all day to remove it, yet their efforts is not enough to encourage anyone to use the ocean. Good thing for the pool. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway, don’t mind a little trek on the bumpy dirt road, I highly recommend Portofino.

Portofino Beach Resort meets all the requirements for a peaceful Caribbean vacation. It’s smallish size allows for tranquil relaxation while it includes all the necessary amenities expected in a tropical resort including a beautiful pool centrally located in the resort, a small scale restaurant with all meals available and very tasty food, an indoor/outdoor bar in the reception/pool area, a dock steps away In which you can access water sports, fishing and boat rides, and finally an outdoor spa for satisfying massages. Its location allows for the most breathtaking morning pictures as the sun shines off the Caribbean coast.

What really sets Portiofino apart is the incredibly helpful staff from Vincent the security guard to Captain Mark the boat driver. We appreciated very much the daily breakfasts and transportation to and from the resort that were included. This is especially true for the golf cart pickup at the San Pedro Airport on a rainy, windy night and the Monday, Wednesday and Friday free boat rides to and from San Pedro. Given the location of the resort, we are so very grateful for both of these transportation features and the on-site restaurant. We felt valued and cared for!

The only recommendation we can make is regarding the bed and pillows. Memory foam is not a good option in a humid climate. It is also uncomfortable for most people. The sane is true for foam filled pillows. Improved beds and pillows that are of natural materials is highly recommended.

The resort had a really peaceful feel. It far exceeded our expectations for the write up from the travel books. The food was exceptional at the restaurant and reasonably priced. It was very nice having all the water activities, such as fishing and diving and snorkeling right on the resort pier. The pool was very beautiful and the setting superior with all the wonderful palm trees and beach. The sunflower room was exceptional. Would highly recommend this resort to anybody looking to have a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

The rooms are really nice. The pool was amazing. The staff was incredible. Everyone was so nice and helpful. The food at the restaurant was good every time we ate there. Being able to book our tours through Action Divers Adventures available right there at the resort made things so much easier. Roberto was awesome to work with and Chocolate was the best Divemaster you could ask for! They have their own dock so you can do some tours and you can dive right from the resort. It is a ways out from town. To get there you would need to rent a golf cart and it is a rather bumpy ride. The only thing I can think of that could have been improved was the main part of our room did not have a lot of lighting. It would have been nice if it had been brighter especially for at night. During the day you can open the front curtains for light. Overall our stay was awesome.

The resort offers full service from beautiful food options, in-house massage and guided tours leaving directly from the properties boat ramp. Downtown can be reached via golf cart in about 25 min. Definitely will return.

The look of the property is awesome. The pool is super nice, the rooms are really cute and the staff is so lovely. We stayed in a double room and loved it. After a big rain storm we had a leak and they moved us to The Mansion. I actually liked the double room way more. The beds were nicer there and we didn't need a kitchen. My only real knock is the restaurant. The food isn't great, the prices are high and the menu never changes at all. I think they are seriously missing a profit center here. If they made better food, better portions and changed it up, we would have eaten way more on site. Instead we rented a cart and left as much as possible. The location is about 20-minutes from the closest restaurant and 40-minutes from town.

There was seagrass on the beach, but the pool is great, with outstanding sea views. Our room was clean and spacious. We both got massages, which were very good. We had an awesome time.

The service here was amazing! From when I first booked to the final check out, the service was amazing. The property is well kept and very nice. Secluded and perfect for a babymoon. But it was really the staff that made the trip! Shout out to Orlene, Orlando, Alex, Marlon, Chocolate, Will, Austin, Jerry, Moe, Lorraine, Isadora, Sandra and the gentleman that served us breakfast that I forgot to get his name! Each of them made this trip special!

We loved our stay! It’s a beautiful resort! Rent a golf cart and explore as you are further north, but the location for us was perfect!

Things I wished they had in the rooms, better lighting in bathroom and more hooks. These are small items but would def improve the overall stay.

The property itself is beautiful. Staff is fantastic, everyone learns your first name and refers to you by such. The room was cozy and fairly clean, although there is absolutely no water pressure in the shower. There is a bar on site, drinks weren't watered down BUT you will pay for it. $22US for two mixed drinks was what we paid. That was enough for us to go to town and buy a couple six packs in lieu of hitting the bar. The restaurant was decent quality but again, EXPENSIVE. A couple of steak dinners with tip came out to $100 US. $45 for nails, $150 each for the snorkeling, $95 each for the massage etc. All US prices. After eating a nice, pricey meal, we went down to the beach to enjoy the peaceful view. Moments after sitting down with our expensive drinks, our peaceful evening was interrupted by two teenagers rolling down the beach in a golf cart. Doing cookies, speeding up and down the dock, all feet away from where we were. Needless to say it was not what we had in mind for a peaceful evening. To make matters worse, we later found out one of the juveniles was the son of the owner of the property. The next few nights of our stay, we opted to rent a golf cart and hit the town. In town you will find some of the best tasting food for more than reasonable prices. To give you an idea, we paid $8bz which is $4US for two fully loaded fried jacks in town. About $20US bought us 5 tacos and a chicken fajita at another place.

The staff were very nice. Orlene was awesome! The accommodations were just as pictured which was a nice surprise. I selected the King Suite and couldn’t be happier. It was so incredibly spacious and you felt like you had an entire apartment to yourself. The bed was comfortable, the water pressure was great, hot/cold water worked well and the AC was good. It was more humid than normal during our stay so having an extra fan in the room was well needed. I even took advantage of the hammock on our porch. The room came equipped with a mini fridge, room safe and an Amazon fire stick for Netflix etc.
there’s no microwave or telephone which makes it less convenient to order food from the restaurant or to contact the front desk.
The pool was clean and just steps from our room. We swam almost daily. There was ample lounge chairs and the set up was thoughtful. The restaurant served good food and other than the times we went into town we ate at the Green Iguana
for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was delicious and prepared well. After being there for 6 days I wished for more variety.
That would be my only complaint. Be prepared with bringing snacks for your room since there isn’t a market close by and nothing is sold on the grounds other than the 3 meals. You’d have to rent a golf cart which is really convenient and cost about $60 for the whole day. Take advantage of massages on the beach-Andrea is AMAZING! Overall…the stay was Magical. We were truly in PARADISE!

Great hotel

Overall we had a great time at Portofino. The staff were very attentive and helpful. They added extra special touches, like providing a card and decorating our room for my birthday.
One thing to note, it is a bit of a drive to get into town. However, the drive itself can be an adventure, one night we ended up seeing a croc in the middle of the road.
Would recommend it if you're looking for a nice quiet escape.

This place was absolutely amazing. A little far out from town, but that was ok as it was super peaceful! The staff were amazing and the lower mansion definitely exceeded our expectations! Will 100% stay at Portofino again! Thank you!!

We just spent 5 days at Portofino Beach Resort and it exceeded our expectations! The resort itself is very clean and the entire staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed talking with Brandon & Justin at the bar and Orlene was so organized and made our stay easy & enjoyable. She scheduled an onsite nurse to administer our Covid test right in our room, which was super convenient! Orlando in the restaurant was a true professional and a very hard worker! Roberto and his staff planned a great snorkeling trip and we enjoyed our massage by the beach, too. I have already recommended Portofino to several friends and we hope to make it back someday soon! Truly the most relaxing vacation of my life!

The staff was so amazing and friendly! It's a small resort so they make everything super personal - we even remember everyone's names! Brandon, Justin, and Orlando are the best bartenders! It's a little drive from town so I suggest renting a golf cart & the food was very hit or miss so even though we had all-inclusive - we ate outside of the resort almost every day.

Great beachfront room

We had a good time overall. Only minor issue we had was with noisy neighbors stomping around at 5 in the morning. If you can, get an upstairs room! Other than that, it was a great little place.

The staff were outstanding, very friendly and eager to be helpful, yet not intrusive. When I arrived I tripped getting out of the boat and the woman greeting us, Daniela, happened to be a nursing student. She patched me up very professionally. The pool was gorgeous. We did not ride bikes or kayak but both were available. Our snorkeling guide was top notch and very attentive. The menu in the restaurant was extensive for every meal. So, if you were there a week or more, there was plenty of variety. The food was quite good. I loved that there were several varieties of fish and seafood.

Nice but remote resort

A nice resort in a bit of a remote location on Ambergris Caye (about a 20 minute golf cart ride to Secret Beach; 40 to town on a bumpy road). The cabanas are cute and clean, the staff is generally friendly, the restaurant is fine. The small activities shop offers lovely tours to Caye Caulker, as well as some nearby snorkeling and diving, which we highly recommend! Having now stayed on the island, we would recommend something a bit closer to the action, as when there is bad weather, you can be a bit \"trapped\" here without much to do, but overall, a perfectly nice choice.

We loved this resort! Everyone was so friendly. The property is clean and well kept. Very quite, that is what we loved the most. Views are amazing. The only down fall is it is a distance from town and top floor rooms don't have a lot of water pressure and with long hair that was a long shower. Definitely recommend and will return. Thank you!

This property is located north of the island which is very quiet compared to the mid-south. The resort has a great location, food and service. The water activities can be scheduled right at the property. I would stay here again.

Wonderful Experience - highly recommend

Great service, great comfort, great food - wonderful spot north of San Pedro. Would highly recommend and I do plan on coming back - everything was a thumbs up except for two things: seaweed washing up on the beach (it's the whole island so not much they can do), and the pricing on somethings (food/golf cart rentals) were a little on the high side in comparison, not a deal breaker but noticeable. The attached dive shop was excellent for local diving and snorkeling and make the process super easy. Overall after driving by almost all the other resorts on the island and drinking at several, it was the best choice hands down. You won't regret choosing this spot for your vacation/honeymoon.

The customer service level was sub-par. Overall, not a genuinely friendly staff. Some of the staff is plain rude, almost annoyed they need to serve you. The entire staff needs a lesson in customer service and some staff just needs to be replaced. In all fairness, some of the staff is really great.

It feels like they have just given up on the resort in some ways. Windows do not open in the rooms, bizarre. I was told they sealed them all when they put in AC. Hot tub broke and they “did not fix b/c parts were expensive,” so now it’s just another pool. Morning coffee setup is a total crap show.

No pool service, bartender missing from bar 50% of the time, really strange menu after 4 PM only a dinner entree menu is an option (period), drinks and breakfast are extremely overpriced, unused items just sort of stashed around the property.

All of this is very unfortunate b/c the property is awesome where it sits, just a little run down and clearly mis-managed.

The property has character and charm, which we liked. The problem is it's so far from town. You either have to pay for a water taxi or rent a golf cart. Or ride a bike like we did one day (took us 50 minutes). The on-site restaurant is okay for breakfast and lunch, but their dinners weren't that good. I wish they would stick to local food and not try to make Italian food (which wasn't very good). The road to town is about 6 miles and about 3 miles of it is unpaved (muddy and full of pot holes) - not easy with a golf cart or bike. The cabana we stayed in (#2) was right next to bar. On the last night we were there the owners kids were playing right behind our cabana and the owners were in the bar until at least 10 at night, somewhat loud themselves

The service was excellent and the staff was very kind and helpful. The food was very good also. The grounds were beautiful. Only drawback was it was 6 miles from San Pedro. Either go buy water taxi or rent a golf cart. The only road into town was awful!

Fun resort with thatch roof ambiance. Staff friendly and helpful with lots of water activities. Guides were great leading snorkeling tours, ensuring everyone was safe and saw as much of the coral reefs and species from mantarays to nurse sharks to turtles and much more. I'd come back!
