Although the room itself was ok, we felt a bit mislead about certain things.

We arrived late after a long drive on a very bumpy road. Check in was short and no real instructions about the resort were given.

The website says daily housekeeping but that didnt happened. We had to ask for our room to be cleaned half way through our stay. Then was shocked to be charged $20 US for the service, the cost wasnt the issue but all they did was take out the garbage and recycling and swapped out towels, they never restocked toliet paper, dish towels etc.
The room was not clean when we arrived as we found peanuts all over the carpet when we folded up the hid-a-bed in the living room. Had we been instructed as to where to take our garbage and recycleing we would havd gladly taken care of it.

Staff was nonexistent during our stay, hardly seen them and unless you went to find them they were never around.

Trying to lock and unlock our room took sometimes up to 5 minutes to do as the tumblers were so rusted.

We felt like the resort was very unwelcoming to non-owners. Other than a few other guests there was no interactions with people at the resort. No music playing, no atmosphere, very dull. And the bugs were horrendous! We know the resort is not to blame but you could hardly we outside unless the sun was shining, which sadly wasnt much while we were there.

We will say Wilbert at the bar was the highlight of our trip. Restaurant was good.

Although 10 miles on Ambergris Caye is a long travel time, Sapphire beach Resort is worth the drive. The staff is willing to help with accommodations of flights from Belize City, transport from San Pedro to the resort, and renting a golf cart. Being away from San Pedro gives you relaxation when you want it and it is close enough to enjoy the city as well. Would visit again!

It was convenient to scuba dive from this resort, because a local dive shop picks up divers right from the resort’s dock. Food was delicious and the accommodations were very comfortable and beautiful. Super nice staff.

Pool needs paint and advertize cable tv which they don't have only wifi. If you don't subscribe to streaming apps you got no tv. Beach is terrible, you can't swim in it, it's so far from everything you need a car or gulf cart.

Really enjoyed our stay. Food was great onsite but not great value, our server ms Vicki was lovely. limited options nearby. Bar was great when it was open; Wilbur and Edwin were great. Pools and property were clean and meticulously maintained. Loved our single poolside room. The kitchen was well appointed and very clean. It was high sorgrass season on the beach and you’d need a bulldozer to deal with that stuff properly. Definitely rent a cart in town on your way in so you can visit some other beaches. Fishing off the dock was great. We took advantage of the bikes and kayaks on site. Staff were awesome, friendly and attentive. Overall we had a great experience. The beaches in the immediate vicinity north and south were covered in trash - definitely not the resorts fault, but someone should deal with it. The Saturday BBQ is not to be missed! Thanks Sapphire Beach Resort!

You must have a golf cart to get anywhere as it is quite a drive to town but great for spending the day doing something away. This is a great place for relaxing, not a place if you need to stay busy.

Rooms were clean and well maintained. Security (shout out to Marco) was fantastic. He was so helpful and always met us in the parking lot to make sure we got in okay. If you are an animal lover, there are cats and dogs to keep you company. Friendly, but well behaved. Must have golf cart to get around, but the drive is exciting and you notice something new every time! Locals appreciate a drive to or from work if you have room. Very safe.

We enjoyed our time at the property and I personally would live there at the property. :-) The only things that drove me crazy was the grime and rust around the sink and all the mosquitos in the area. Couldn't enjoy the pool because the bugs kept on biting. You are literally attacked by them as soon as you walk out the door. Couldn't swim at the beach because of the seaweed, but there were people attempting to clean it up but you cant control the sea.

Also, the location of the property is located in Mexico Rock and about 45 minutes - 1 hour on a golf cart from the water taxi in san Pedro and depending on the weather conditions. Please take that into account when going.

Secret beach is about 20-30 minutes by golf cart.

Please purchase food in town before coming in as there are no markets and very limited food options in the area.

Overall, I would recommend if you want something quiet, secluded, and away from the hustle of the city.

The staff at this resort were very rude. And everything was about a money grab. I even had to remind the staff several times About the VIP package which included free breakfast . After having a disagreement with the front desk, employee, Lisandro, he then advised the Staff working at the dining restaurant to charge us for items that we previously were told we were included in the free breakfast package . He had the staff repeatedly come back and charges for different items after the disagreement . They claimed there was 24/7 available for assistance, but when we called for several different issues regarding our room, no one answered the phone until the next day around 10 AM. The air conditioner, and two out of three of the rooms were not working. We asked him to take a look at the toilet that would not flush, they sent a maintenance man who did not look and told us that it was fixed. We then had to ask him to go back and look at the bathroom, which then forced him to actually fix it. These people were rude and unprofessional, and I will not recommend this stay to anyone.
They tried to charge my card without my permission/authorization for an activity that I told them I was not going to partaken and was simply considering it. No written contract, nothing was agreed-upon for this activity, and because they were upset that they could not make that money, they proceeded to charge my card, even after I told them no. As someone who travels quite frequently, this was not great

To remote location, road is not maintained very uncomfortably ride off roading surfaces and must take it to get around.
No water taxis to and from this hotel.
Hotel is in need of maintenance, showers are in need of servicing requested and no change. Water trickles out. No pressure.
pool bottom needs repair paint worn off so gives the effect of algae but actually isn’t.
Tiki bar open when bar tenders shows up. They tell you specific hours but never the same, One day not open at all. So if you want a drink must go to small restaurant on property And that particular day other employee in restaurant does not know how to make drinks. Insufficient supplies. Ran out of pineapple juice and other items on menu.
Be sure to get a golf cart from San Pedro when you land prices can be negotiated to $35us a day weekly rate as at the hotel it is $75us daily and they do not have available carts on property at all times and you may find you ll be stuck without transportation as we did one day.
Taxis are $60us each way.
Recommend if you want to be this remote staying at a location with water taxi service you may pay more rate wise & resort fee includes Transfer back and forth daily. In the end you ll save money ie margarita ville or stay closer to San Pedro.
Caulker cay is suppose to be much nicer smaller easier to get around.

Positive weather was beautiful.
People are friendly.
Water and views amazing.
Next time not a next for me. ✔️ed off list.

Location was perfect - gorgeous beach* and far from the traffic and crowds in town. Reasonable & fun ride (albeit a bit bumpy) to/from town if you wanted to go there.
Pros: full kitchen, in-room bottled water dispenser, decent mattress, bicycles.
Cons: The Cayes have a heartbreaking garbage problem. Piles of single-use plastic litter on beaches, road etc. The hotel employees rake it up from *beach with the sea grass and dump it on neighboring properties. They could be part of the solution by picking out the trash and properly disposing of it. They should also provide trash cans on beach and around property. Saw many visitors/owners trying to do their part!
Bring: bug spray (it is the tropics after all), reusable water bottles, ground coffee, and as many groceries as you can fit. (Food prices in Belize are high, and variety is low). I implore you NOT to buy/accept drinks in plastic bottles - as it will likely wind up in beach or ocean here. (Glad the resort has that dispenser,)

This place's so quiet, which I like. Dark gets so fast, and you can’t hear anything except wind. Beach is beautiful, but you could not swim in the sea because it is dangerous. The facility did not recognise VIP status and didn’t upgrade my room. First, I received the room with no lock on a balcony door at all. I asked to change my room and waited more than 3 hours to get it done. In that room, the blanket had a big bloody stain right on the top. I was completely exhausted to ask a staff for help because they promised and never did. So… I just went to previous rooms and switched blankets. After I got a key for a new room, I realized that it fits for any room, which is not safe. The resort has 3 swimming pools, but one of them was officially closed, and I would never put my foot in another one with dirty water. Third one had a clean water. Be aware those pools are really small. This resort located around 40 minutes driving from town. I did not rent a golf cart for mobility because the road was with huge pedals, and I saw how carts stacked in the middle.

The property is 15km from San Pedro and about a 40min golf cart ride. So if you want peace and quiet, this is the place. I would strongly suggest renting a golf cart for the week(better pricing) to get around. The location has one restaurant on property with friendly staff. Within walking distance is one other beach bar. I cannot say enough good things about the staff at the resort. They were super helpful and responsive to our needs. The two negatives are the location and secondly the Sandflies which were bad while we were there from Jan 5-19. One final note, before leaving San Pedro hit one of the grocery stores to stock up as the units do have a full kitchen. That way you will have some choice to get you started.

Amazing views and the staff were very friendly. Mosquitoes are TERRIBLE! This is not an exaggeration at all, but it felt like I got 100 of bites and people were surprised to see. The location is also very far from the center of town. If you plan to stay at the resort, then the distance won’t be an issue.

The beach was obliterated by the weeds that arrived with every wave. The water was shallow and cloudy. Taking a boat to the reefs was perfect fir seeing fish. The drive from town was long and bumpy. All food in Belize is pretty basic but homemade. There is plenty of local fish and Mennonite grown vegetables. No variety. Weather temperatures were perfect but a strong breeze every day to keep you cool. The beaches on the west side of the island are seaweed free and beautiful.
Sapphire Beach personnel were wonderful. Unit was a little dated and used inside.

3 lovely dipping pools and a really cute Tiki Bar by the pools. The resort hosted a couple of special dinners highlighting Belizean cuisine. We had a beach view unit which was incredible but all the units were nicely situated- plantation style. Unfortunately Belize is far behind environmentally which has nothing to do with the resort. Practically nothing gets recycled. All the staff were amazing. Such kind and friendly people.

It was very relaxing since we were there during the slow season. The food was excellent and the staff was very pleasant and helpful. I would return once the resort adds water taxi service and a small gift shop since we had to walk a mile to get some bug spray (we forgot to bring ours) and would appreciate being able to shop for forgotten items or snacks foods at the resort itself.

The property is beautiful, staff was great (friendly and helpful) and the food was delicious. There were just some minor things that kept me from leaving a 5 star review - (1) we asked for extra towels and soap, as we only had one towel for shower and pool, but I had to ask 3 times and when they brought it, it was only the towels, (2) there was no coffee provided in the room so we had to go to town to buy our own - the problem is this resort is pretty far from everything, so it’s not too easy to do that, (3) the headboard on our bed was loose and hit the wall anytime we moved during our sleep and (4) the beach is beautiful, but they need to work on cleaning the seaweed that accumulates.

Everyone at the Sapphire Resort was wonderful. Emma and Nicki were both awesome and always had a smile on their faces and we really enjoyed visiting with them. We met Eron on his second night of starting the job and he was also very nice and was trying very hard to do a good job - which he did! All of the food we had was great and really enjoyed the daily happy hour!
I had seen people mention the sea grass on reviews before we went but it did not stop us from having a great time. They had people working continuously removing it from the beach and we were still able to get in the water and swim and snorkle. We also enjoyed the kayaks and loved being able to kayak out to the reef and do some snorkeling. To us this place was exactly what we wanted and needed. If you are looking for some place quiet and out of the way to unwind with great staff I would totally recommend it. Thank you Sapphire staff for a great stay!

The resort it’s self is beautiful we had the beach front and it was everything and more. The staff was so friendly and catered to our every need. I would definitely recommend it and I will go back. Just know that it is far away from the San Pedro city and you have to rent a golf cart to get around. The golf cart rode to the city center is about 45 minutes. The roads are unpaved to its a very bumpy ride. But even with all that I would do it all over again.

The sapphire beach resort is a laid back vacation spot. It’s not a partying location, but great for couples or families. Unit 18 was charming, clean and everything we expected and needed. The staff was very helpful. The beach had sargasso seaweed, which made it unpleasant to swim in, but the kayaks and
paddle boards . The on-site Gem restaurant was very good and there are other beaches and restaurants within a 10-30 minute golf cart ride. It is approximately 45 minutes to San Pedro, so if’s that's were you want to be most times, sapphire may not be for you.

Rooms and food was good. Property is way too far from all the entertainment 50 mins from water taxi. Roads are terrible to locations too much seaweed in the water. Sapphire Resort is a beautiful property to stay at while in Belize.

Although there is still lots of constructions taking place Im the resort grounds, much of the property is kept in great order with garden beds, several pools and a gorgeous ocean/beach view.

The best part that I enjoyed the most while staying at Sapphire was the staff. They were extremely transparent with everything and were three steps ahead of the game when it came to scheduling room cleanings (COVID-19) as well as arranging for transports, assisting with activities, and even renting out a golf cart with gas that’s included.

I’ve had absolutely no complaints about this location at all but one should truly do research before booking as it is extremely far north of the actual town which can make for very long trips to/from.

The roads leading up to the resort are not paved; they are dirt roads with a massive amount of large potholes which makes your cart ride very bumpy and long as you have to continuously slow down and stop.

If you want to come to Belize and get away while on the busy island of San Pedro, this is the place for you. It’s quiet and reserved with a very nice tiki bar and restaurant. It’s very close (15 min drive) to the Secret Beach which is a local gem.

Enjoy your stay. You will not be disappointed.

Downfalls: the hot water did not work it was lukewarm, I know there was a 9 pm curfew, but the restaurant closed at 6 pm. And it is a hour ride in a golf cart from town. There was a full kitchen which if we would of been staying more than 2 days was nice.

The weather was unfortunately not cooperative while on our trip. The wind was very strong and it was cloudy with rain on some days. Because of this web we're unable to really enjoy the beach. I think if the weather was better we would have enjoyed our trip more. Our room was nice though and the view was outstanding! The condos are individually owned so this is more of a vbro thing. The adults only pool and some of the thatched rooms could use some updating. The staff was very friendly though! If you're planning on staying awhile I'd suggest getting a golf cart because there's not much around.

Everything here exceeded expectations! Our room had an ocean view, a pool steps away and it was immaculately kept. The restaurant was fabulous, the bartender at the pool bar was outstanding, and I was really glad the adventure desk was able to provide fun safe activities so I could work off a little indulgence! We will return!

Is too far from the town, no lights on the street to get to the hotel and it is about 30 minutes drive in the golf car.
Beach is not good at this resort.

We arrived and were greeted with Rum Punch, and a smile! The staff would greet us as they passed by during the day, and remembered our likes/dislikes at the bar and restaurant. The housekeeping staff were all friendly, and respectful. We were lounging in our room a few times, and really didn't need cleaning, so they would chat a bit, and leave us alone. Perfect, relaxing, quiet (for the most part, it was a holiday weekend!). They had activities on Fri/Sat/Sun- a movie night, a BBQ, a pig roast! We were able to easily rent a golf cart, and drive into town for a few hours. We stayed in 3C, perfect for the cost of a pool view, but has a 'secret' beach view out the back patio! The only issue was the hot water heater- we asked them to look at it, and they did- but the water was cool, not even tepid, and we had cold showers.

I would never go back...

Hotel not worth the money; a/c didn’t work, toilet didn’t work well, room for 4 but very uncomfortable sofa bed, they would only give us one towel per day. Spotty water didn’t always work and power went off and didn’t go back on, maybe till after we left. Food was excellent; seems like it could have been a great hotel years ago.

This property’s Location is very far away from the center of town. It requires You to take a 30 minute water taxi every time You need to go out even to a store. The service staff at restaurants and bars are very slow and inattentive. Expensive Too. My room had no TV cable access , and the WiFi was very bad..

Wonderful condo, 3 little pools, tiki bar, bikes to ride, dock for water taxi. Snorkel trip from resort was incredible fun! Quiet location far from town so renting a golf cart to explore or taking a water taxi was needed. Overall a wonder relaxing vacation!

The property is far from the main town and getting there is $50 by 45 min car or 25 min water taxi which only runs every other hr and service ends at 8:30 pm
Rooms were nice but beach has tons of seaweed
Not much to do at the hotel no tv or phone and internet sketchy. Food a bit pricy and service is super slow. Scuba shop not very knowledgeable and seemed to only care about $$ sorry to say

The setting was idyllic, but nature brought the sargassum so beach was not usable. Two of the three pools were open and kept immaculately. Being low season I'd expect maintenance, so not that shocking or disappointing. The staff were awesome! Without a doubt a most friendly and accommodating group of people. I hated my room door...the handle/lock was difficult to manage, even for the housekeeping staff. The one restaurant on site, Gem, was run by Emma & Tony who were a fabulous team. The food was delicious and always with a lovely presentation. I will visit again. This time outside of the sargassum season.

Far away from home

The facility was clean, the staff friendly and very attentive. The restaurant food was very good. The down side are there is no cable TV. Is far from town and the roads are ruff. The beach on the property is unusable due to the massive amounts of seagrass.

Hidden Island Gem

This hotel is approximately 45 min (drive) from town, but well worth the distance/travel time. Tucked away in a private setting, accommodations are impeccable, staff is warm, friendly and helpful, and amenities surpassed expectations. Bartender Emma is amazing and personable. Would definitely stay here again.

The staff was incredibly helpful. The GM, Ari went out of his way to help make our trip enjoyable. We initially rented a house in town that was grossly misstated in the description. Our time at Sapphire made our trip memorable. Although this is a bit out of town, with a golf cart & water taxi you have the benefit of being somewhere quite and can easily access activities around the area. Thank you Ari and staff!

Mediocre but private hotel far from town

We had an OK experience here. The hotel is very far from town, so we had to take about an hour car ride on the bumpiest road imaginable from the water taxi. The room itself was very nice, with a fully stocked kitchen and a huge bed. Three tiny pools with a decent poolside bar. It was nice that it was right on the beach, though the water is rather dirty. We had good experience with the excursions, though they were quite pricey. Some of the hotel staff were very nice and accommodating, but a few of them in particular were rather rude and unhelpful. Overall, we probably would not recommend you stay here. If you're going to go to San Pedro it would be better to stay closer to town.

Sapphire was a very nice resort. The only downside was it was difficult to get into town. I also felt the bed could be better and the shower could have had more water pressure. The resort staff was top notch and the food and drinks were really good.

Worst experience of my life

My husband and I were on our honeymoon and the taxi driver we got to take us to the hotel took us in to the jungle and left us stranded. After numerous attempts to get in contact with hotel to ask for help and well as the U.S. embassy and police department we were left to out the middle of literally no where until the next morning. The hotel is saying that I was a no show for not showing up. Being unable to reach the hotel due to the fact that you are stranded and no one is able to get to you and no-showing to the hotel are two very different situations. I’m completely appalled and unhappy and would never recommend this resort.

Place to relax and recharge.

This is a very beautiful place with everything you need and wonderful attentive staff. Road to get there is terrible but you can get there by water taxi quite comfortably. It’s great for relaxation. If you want more action this isn’t for you.

Secluded place to get away. Definitely a little ways out of town. With a couple stops, took us 25 minutes to get into San Pedro by water taxi from the hotel. We were greeted at the dock and given complementary drinks during check in. Everyone was real friendly, including the other guests. For dinner, I had the BBQ fish which was excellent. The Happy Hour specials were the best I had in Belize. Even though we left at the crack of dawn, one of the guys working stopped us and carried our bags. The hotel is nothing fancy but it's comfortable and pleasant.

Beautiful resort and beach...

Spent a week at the Sapphire Resort. The staff was very helpful and the resort is one of the cleanest and most beautiful places I've ever had the opportunity to stay at. The water is crystal clear and the beach and pools are very nice.

Be sure to use coconut oil or baby oil if it's been raining. Sand fleas are brutal.

Overall would recommend this place and will be going back.

Honeymoon Getaway from NYC

Stayed for 9 days 8 nights. Beautiful island and resort. Felt very secluded.. honestly my wife and I wish we were back there than being home in nyc. Beaches, animals, great food, friendly locals, plenty of pools, amazing views and scenery.

Whats not stated on this website is that you need to take either a cab to a ferry ( additional costs ) to get to the island and take another cab or rent a golf cart (rented the cart and it was delivered to resort for us same day) or take another plane or boat to the island since its not the mainland. Cab to the ferry is 25 US. Ferry roundtrip to San Pedro is 70 US for 2 ppl and the cart i rented for 300 US for the time there (10 US for gas fills a cart)

The excursions and tours you pay for as you go. Cheaper if you plan them yourself rather than on the resort because you're paying for their transportation.

Decently maintained resort with terrible service

Extremely far north of San Pedro town. 40 minute golf cart ride on mainly unmaintained dirt roads. The resort was relatively well maintained, probably the only plus.

The service was not the greatest, aside from the general manager who was extremely accommodating. We made reservations for a scuba tour and was supposed to meet at 8:45 am. We decided to try breakfast at the resort and was told that they opened at 7:30 am. When we went to the restaurant at 7:45 am, they were closed, with nobody in sight. We had to take a trip to another resort nearby for breakfast, which was a 15 minute golf cart ride.

The next day, we decided on making reservations for dinner at another resort. We told the front desk to request a water taxi for us at 7:15. We waited at the dock till about 7:30 pm, no taxi. Tried to contact someone at the front desk and they were closed! With the help of the general manager who kindly gave us a ride to our reservation, about an hour late.

Lastly, mosquitos galore. We were getting bit up and down in our room, far less than walking outdoors in town.

Aside from the general manager, the service at the resort is less than mediocre. The location is well too far from town, unless you don't plan on going into town, then I guess this is the place for you. I would not stay here again and unfortunately could not recommend it to anyone else.

Enjoyed Family vacation

This resort is clean and the staff is extremely friendly and attentive to your needs. Unfortunately the shower and water from faucets are salty. There are no telephones in rooms. Not even for emergencies. Overall I enjoyed my stay spending quality time with my family.
