Clean large room. Safe didn’t function and no lightbulb in desk lamp. Door card would only function on the 3rd attempt every time. Nice hotel but totally marred by an ‘Anime’ convention which lasted the 2 nights we were there. The hotel never informed us of this before our stay but if they had we would never have booked the accommodation. Noisy and packed with animated dysfunctional young people. We have yet to contact the hotel to raise our huge disappointment!

A real disaster I’m afraid to say. First room the bed had a terrible, very old mattress. The second room I was switched into had an even bigger problem… BED BUGS! I got bitten during the night which was painful and a really unpleasant experience. I got switched into yet another room. So although the location is good, I would serious think twice about booking this hotel. What a shame

The room was cold (I didn’t realise you had to turn the heating on). There was very heavy rain and the noise on a flat roof outside our window was unbearable. We changed rooms at midnight. The following night a Turkish wedding with drums until midnight. Shower great. Beds comfortable. Towels have seen better days. Receptionist very helpful

The room seemed fine at a glance but when we getting settled in we noticed quite a few things that suggest it was not cleaned properly and/or lacks maintenance. The toilet was left \"dirty\" if you get my drift. The mini fridge cabinet had been moved and unplugged and had milk runs down the side of it. One of the chairs had discarded tea and sugar packets left on it in pain view. One of the towels provided had a big hole in it. They clearly have a problem with damp as the you can see the patches of discoloration and cracks on the ceiling, as well as glossy patches where they've just painted over it previously. The windows have secondary double glazing inside as it's an old building with sash windows but the double glazing was missing a pane and otherwise looked like it was from the 90s. You could also see the blackening on the window frames where the condensation is likely rotting the frames. We found the bed to be very firm. It felt like an old standard spring mattress not anything modern with pocket springs and a foam topper etc. The sheets also seemed like they were quite old and had seen better days.

The room was cold, no heating working and remote on television also didn’t work. We were given a second room that was just as bad, finally given a third room that was a little warmer but the heating system still didn’t work in any of the rooms we were given but give up trying in the end. At no point did anyone come to see what the problem was they just kept giving us room keys to try. We spoke to another couple who were also having the same problems and also moved rooms and been offered a blanket by the lady on reception !. At no point did anyone ask if we OK. Such a shame because the hotel itself was OK.

Great location for exploring the city , room was clean and warm (good heating). Bed comfortable. Walls paper thin tho , so had to listen to some party goers loud conversations at 3am. But we were there early Dec when the Christmas parties had kicked off, so bound to happen.

Great hotel, walking distance to all local sights. Second time we've stayed here when visiting Bristol. Ate in the restaurant and the food was amazing, all staff very friendly

Lovely hotel with a stunning dining/ bar area and well kept public areas. Car park is tight, but it’s Bristol city center so it’s just nice to have a car park!
Room was huge but no matter what I did with the aircon remote, it refused to heat up.
Breakfast was pretty poor. Most food was luke warm (beans and black pudding were cold) and toaster only produced very lightly toasted bread (but done just enough that putting it through again would burn it).
I’d stay again but not have breakfast.

We stay here quite often when visiting Bristol for events. The location is nice and central and availability of parking a handy bonus. This time we had a nice room upgrade on arrival with the stay only slightly let down by the nasty smell in the one working lift that permeated the whole of the 3rd floor corridor too. Thankfully no smells in the room.

The room was one of those modern eco bulb room and was like a dark cave it apparently was a four star but the room looked like a 3 star nothing special. Restaurant was all Indian food.

2. Smells of mould in the room
3. Cobwebs in corner of bathrooms walls and floor
4. Mould in the grout of bathtub and sink
5. Flush did not work great on toilet
6. Extractor fan did not work so very humid in the room
7. The willows are awful and bed springs was digging into my back
8. No fridge
9. No wardrobe or any storage
10. The safety deposit box could be picked up and not secured to wall or anything.
Hotel has no gym either which is surprising considering the size.
Overall not a great stay and I definitely will not be coming back.

I was allocated room 408 which is listed as “compact double”. It was freezing when I went in, so I went to close the window. Turns out it was broken and couldn’t be closed. The wood frame was rotting. I tried putting a rolled up towel in front of it but knew this wouldn’t make any useful difference.
I went down to reception who came up to the room and looked at it. He said they were fully booked but I was moved to a larger room on the same floor which was slightly better. The bed was awful - could feel the springs through the mattress and it was not comfortable at all. I was hoping to have a relaxing bath, however, the bath was not in a good state, with enamel peeling off and dirt within this.
When I checked out the next day, I went to my car in the secure car park (which is very windy and extremely narrow spaces) to find my car would not start. I called the RAC but due to the low height on the gate the van would not be able to get in. I spoke to the reception staff as I was in a bit of a state and they were a bit shrugged shoulders about it all. I sat in the lobby of the reception for a couple of hours waiting for the RAC and was ignored unless I went to reception to ask them anything.

Very good stay at the Grand Hotel by Sunday. Very clean room with plenty of space. Suited my purpose of a 1 night stay but could have easily have stayed longer. The hotel is well maintained and almost instant hot water.
One inconvenience was the checking in process. The member of staff on the desk kept having to go to the back after serving each person. However there was a conference on at the same time.

The hotel and room was tired - the bedroom windows were broken (I.e the double glazed windows could nite closed because the hinges had broken. Staff not at their desk on two occasions (once when wishing to check out). Not impressed especially for the cost associated with the stay. Also £17 for breakfast seemed too expensive, so we declined.

Supposed to be a 4 star hotel but more like a 2 star... long queue at checkin, 1 lift working. 1 broken so took ages, thinest duvet ive ever encountered, noisiest air con, tv remote wouldn't turn the tv off, sleeve on electric towel rail off so bare electrics exposed, way too high sink, steam damage to mirror, shower head max height would suit someone very short and im only 5ft 11! Way below a 4 star hotel.
