We had a lovely room, spotlessly clean(only issue was noise from building work outside our window from early in the morning). The staff were friendly and very helpful. We had a lovely breakfast both mornings, great choices available.

Went for a one night stay, it was amazing. The hotel is fabulous staff are fabulous. it was a real 10 out of 10. The beds were super comfy, so were the pillows, the breakfast which was included in the room rate and made a super full menu, with plentiful breakfast items that wouldn’t disappoint every taste - I cannot find anything that wasn’t first class. We will stay there again for sure.

This place has a lot work to do. Photos are highly doctored and edited to post on Expedia. The reason why this hotel has this many stars is because of the proximity to Eyre Square. Mold in the bathroom, the leg for the bathroom sink was broken, the glass shelf next to the sink was broken, room had absolutely no ventilation which will create a mold breeding ground. I honestly don't understand why in Europe they put 2 twin beds together to make a king; thats like a 2.5 star hotel move or even a motel move. The bed was brick solid hard. You wake up and your entire body hurts and is sore. You feel the grooves between both twin beds and the straps holding the beds together. Quite uncomfortable. The sheets for the beds were the opposite of soft. The sheets were so rough you could grate garlic on them and it would come out minced; what a terrible feeling. The entire bathroom floor gets soaked after showers with the nonesensical half shower door that does not stay in place. I imagine how much of a safety issue that creates. If the management blames the bathroom issues on the cleaning staff, that is what you call unaccountability on managments behalf. Man, the chandelier in the bedroom was not even centered on the plaster. I don't live like this and anyone paying money to stay at a highly rated hotel should not either. Other guests in the hotel were nicer than the staff. Outright appalled and wish I could get a FULL REFUND. I will be back to Ireland but absolutely not this place.

Beautiful room in a beautiful property perfectly located within Galway - right next to the train and bus stations, but quiet enough that you never hear a thing! Also, the best vegan breakfast we had on the trip, and it's not advertised nearly enough. Highly recommended!

Great location .. lovely old hotel but needs some freshening up. Large comfortable rooms, beds and bathrooms but dated and dreary. Good service personnel but front desk personnel need some “hospitality” training. Very quiet and nice even with two weddings and a bachelorette party going on.

The hotel has a very old vibe to it but it’s still very clean and has had updates. It came with a breakfast buffet that was very good. The bed was comfortable but the pillows were hard and as flat as rocks. We did have an issue with the shower. The drain was plugged with hair that caused the shower to overflow into the carpet of the room. We ended up cleaning the hair out of the drain ourselves so it wouldn’t soak the carpet further. It then left a musty smell to the room. I explained the issue at check out and the receptionist just wrote down to clean out the drain on a piece of paper and didn’t offer us any kind of compensation for having to clean a wad of hair out of the drain ourselves. That was what was disappointing. For a hotel that looked like it could be five stars it easily became three in my book.

It is the historic, central hotel in Galway. Right on the city green. Walkable to all Galway neighborhoods. The hotel offers discounted public parking nearby, a plus. The staff was professional and helpful with our questions about getting around. Our bedroom had the grand 19th century high ceilings.

Best look like you belong

Upon arrival there was no where to stop and check in and drop of luggage. When my wife went in she felt that the staff was snooty. Everyone else we dealt with was very hospitable.

An awful stay.
The glory days of the Hardiman are long gone. Room 410 has been ravaged by damp with walls and rhe ceiling visibly damaged.
The toilet seat was loose and the room was like an oven with no aircon.
Forget morning sleep-ins - the building site right outside the window will ensure you are wide awake long before 8am
The Hardiman is vastly overpriced and poor value for money

The bathroom had puddles of water around the sink after washing our hands, brushing our teeth etc. when I told the front desk they needed to fix it they said they’d have someone clean it up (which didn’t resolve the problem). I set my laundry outside the door at 7:45sm after the front desk told me it had to be outside the door by 8sm. I got a phone call from the desk saying they didn’t pick it up in time. (Okay, no problem). However, they didn’t know where the laundry was. I was confused -either you picked it up or you didn’t). After two phone calls and two visits to the front desk they were able to locate it in “the linen room”, and this was after they insisted it was returned to my room (even though they previously said they never picked it up).
I think a 4 star rated hotel shouldn’t have these issues. On a positive note the beds were comfortable and the hotel decor is charming.

Lovely hotel conveniently located

This is a lovely historical building right on Eyre Square. The staff are all very friendly and my room was comfortable. I had a nice view of the square on 3rd floor and the room was mostly very quiet. My only quibble, and this is common among hotels in Ireland, is the bathing option. It is a very deep tub with a half door of glass. This is not suitable for those with mobility issues and I'm in great physical shape and it was a pain for me. The shower is in the tub so the water floods the bathroom floor as a half door isn't adequate. This is a recipe for an accident. While a deep tub is luxurious for those who like baths, it's difficult to get in and out of. That said, the hotel is lovely and they offer a plethora of breakfast options which are mostly good. I don't recommend the scrambled eggs on the buffet. In addition, i was thrilled to see a smoothie among the selections, but unfortunately it was grainy and very sour. These are all fixable issues and i hope the hotel is listening.

The Hardiman is a lovely gem of a hotel in the heart of Galway. Very walkable. The decor, staff, pub, and breakfast were all phenomenal. Room & bathroom were large and comfortable. My only gripe with this hotel was the parking. We had a rental car and did not expect the challenges we faced with parking. The check-in/drop-off car pull-in area is very small - it only fits 3-4 cars/taxis and was full everytime we drove by. There is no signage outside the hotel directing you where to go for parking. The website did mention an off-site carpark that they offered discount parking at, so we routed there. I was surprised to see how far from the hotel it was but luckily, we didn't have much luggage. Other than the parking situation, I had a lovely experience with this hotel. Even the parking wasn't all that bad as the discount was generous and easy to use. It was just a little far and was not advertised well.

Great breakfast, clutch valet parking, clean, quiet room, and fantastic location. Classy, but super friendly staff. Not cheap, but reasonable, and great value. Stay here when you are in Galway!

We had a lovely 2 nights stay in the Hardiman the day after storm Eowyn so it was understaffed but the staff that were in attendance were excellent! The food was exceptional, 10/10
Our only gripe would be that the bedrooms are quite dated and could do with some modernisation, but the foyer and the rest of the hotel were very nice and comfortable! Well located for walking around the city, would stay again !

Despite the issues at the hotel where there was total loss of water staff tried to maintain service unfortunately there was no contingency plans to provide temporary water supplies for sanitation and hygiene issues which forced customers to use facilities external to the hotel. This did taint our trip and it was a full 48 Hours before some service were restored.
The hotel has agreed to a full reimbursement for our stay but this process is still ongoing.

Room was very large however bathroom sinks did not drain and there was a sulphuric small coming from drains. There were no mirrors to blow dry or curl hair with accessible plugs. What an incredible experience! The hotel is absolutely beautiful with clean and spacious rooms. The mattress was very comfortable for our liking and I would recommend to anyone traveling to Galway to stay here! Many bars/shops within a 5 minute walking distance. In our opinion the perfect place to stay!

If there was one negative it would be the parking. The parking area is about 500 meters away (per the receptionist). When checking in just pull up in front of the hotel to get checked in. Then decide if you want to go to the hassle of finding the parking garage or just valet park. We had the valet park for us. Self parking is 11 euro a night and valet is 30 euro.

We were really looking forward to our stay but were really disappointed. Firstly, it’s great location and staff are nice (tbh, it’s Ireland - everyone is lovely anywhere you go). But everything else was not good. From the reception confusion around our booking - they deactivated our room key mid stay and gave our room key to my family who were checking in - to a room which had poor ventilation, tiny toilets, no drainage in the bathroom, and not good breakfast. I’d probably say, find somewhere else to stay.

Great location opposite Eyre Park and near all the bars and restaurants. Parking in multi-storey near by. They have reserved areas for the hotel and reduced rates but wasn’t told about reserved areas when booking in which would of helped.

Breakfast is included and is a great buffet…but you can also order items from a menu at no additional charge.

For me, food was great, I slept really well,staff were awesome, and location is fantastic. All I could hope for!!!

Very pretty hotel on Eyre Square!

Great location, parking is not particularly close and it is paid. The room layouts cause for quite a long walk with your luggage up various stairs and down long hallways to get to some of the rooms. Besides that, very pretty hotel, nice rooms, and unbeatable location for Galway.

The hotel’s location is perfect for seeing the heart of Galway and close to all transportation options. It’s just steps from the train station.

The rooms are somewhat dated and could use an update — primarily the bathroom. The staff is very friendly and check in was quick. I appreciate their kindness in merging two separate reservations I’d made (for consecutive nights) and keeping us the same room while also upgrading our stay to include breakfast. The view from our room overlooking the park was beautiful.

But what excelled was the restaurant. Breakfast was wonderful every morning. Great food options, all fresh, and the staff is working non-stop to make sure you have everything you need. I also had dinner one night at the restaurant and thought it was amazing. The dessert was one of the best I might have ever had.

I would stay here again without hesitation for the location and the dining experience at the hotel.

The Hardiman is excellent location wise as it sits right beside the Galway train station and beside Eyre Square. Staff and cleanliness are exceptional but there are two problems as well. As the hotel is older, there was no soundproofing between rooms. Second, the gym has been out of service for a few years.
