The first thing that I would like to stress is how hardworking, friendly and helpful the staff was in spite of quite clearly being understaffed. I had upgraded from a single bunk to a private room upon arrival as I was quite ill and didn't want to infect others. On my second day there was no wifi available or heating and did contact the manager (owner ) as encouraged to do so with signage in my room. No response at all and it has now been 10 days later. I decided to check out and forfeit my third day's reservation cost. Will not recommend this particular hostel chain. It should be noted that I ran a hostel myself and service and communication were the keys to success.

Very good location, close to trams and underground options. Breakfast is cheap and good options. Our room had a good size, but the toilet was smelling very badly, like sewage, opening the window helped, but every time we were bad the smell was terrible. We were on 4th floor, elevator goes to 3rd floor only, for everyday is fine, for first and last with luggage is hell. On our check in day there was only one person in reception and maybe 20 people trying to check in, it was annoying and stressful, but staff triedo his best, and all staff were very friendly and nice.

The room was basic but perfectly nice, clean, cosy and comfortable.
The biggest problem however was that I needed to checkin through a custom app. The app wasn't secure - my phone refused to load the webpage (as it detected the site wasn't safe) and then as the app wouldn't work through my internet I was forced to join a public network - this is against my company policy so caused major issues on my phone. Why force people to use an app. Have a ipad termal at the front desk - or some backup paper slips. Or at least make your app meet security requirements.

I had to go back to reception twice after check in because my room key did not work, I was staying 3 nights and each day I had to go back to reception because the room key didn’t work. My room was on the 4th floor with the elevator only going to the 3rd floor so slightly inconvenient.
The room was clean but not well maintained, screws in the wall, chipped paint and the corner of the shower where the doors meet was orange with water stain and limescale.
Some loud maintenance works inside the hotel until 19:30 one evening, plus painting of stairwell etc, not a huge bother but no communication from reception or apology for the inconvenience.

It was not mentioned on Expedia that this was a hostel! Arriving with my family at midnight we had no choice but to stay here as arranged, if we had of arrived earlier I would have looked for somewhere else.

The room was so noisy it was impossible to sleep. Being on a main road with no soundproofing you heard every noise.

It had no air conditioning and was hotter than outside so we had no choice but to leave the windows open (the 3 inches that they did open) to allow some air in.

It was not clean and there was a tampon under the bed along with several discarded items, including food, and a lot of dust.

The bunk beds were not made so we had to do this with 2 very tired children who had been in the car for 12 hours.

The bathroom was not clean, it was tiny and the shower did not work properly.

I asked to park the car outside and was told that it was full but there were free spaces. The receptionist reluctantly allowed me to park there, I paid of course.

The property was rundown and dirty.

Overall this was the worse experience of our road trip and I would not return ever.

It was not much cheaper than a nice hotel but the photos looked lovely, and like I said, there was no reference to it being a hostel.

I will be writing to Expedia and complaining about this stay.

The room is simple, but it has all what´s necessary, exception fridge. It does´not mind now (through all my stay it was raining and quite a cold wheather), but it would be really very useful in hot days. This accomodation is entirely good for short, several days visit, for longer stay the room would feel the lack of space for storage personal things. Its localisation is very good for achievement of the historical center and I was satisfied here.

Wouldn’t stay again - dirty, felt unsafe and loud.

Booked a single room but still felt extremely unsafe. Extremely loud at night, with doors banging constantly. My room was on the ground floor and woke up at around 11pm to someone banging on my window and trying to open it. At around 9am, 1 hour before check out, someone with key card access let themselves into my room whilst I was in the shower. I shouted for them to leave and they did. I’m not sure if this was a cleaner etc.

The rooms were dirty, with weeks worth of dust underneath the beds, hairs and stains on the bedding, and dirty walls. Was very cheap but will definitely pay much more next time to sleep feeling safe.

I was unpleasantly surprised that all the rooms in the highest floor are not accessible by lift, only by stairs (walk up and downstairs make me a little problem). The room was extremely small, has no storage space (no wardrobe or cabinet, for 2 people only 2 pegs on the wall and 2 hangers...),no chair or other place to seat, along 2 beds there was fast not possible to squeeze to the window.... but positive - it was very clean and staff was friendly.

Hotel location is in city center. Which is good and bad. Price quality ratio is OK. Room cleanest is fine same as good stuff which was helpful. However I had with my family the worst night ever. The room was facing the street/patio. Because of the very close proximity of one of the main streets in Vienna we had no chance to sleep at all. It was so loud. Even if we closed the window it didnt change anything. We stayed there for a night while traveling to Italy from Warsaw and we were completely wasted next day. Another thing disgusting smell on the patio, entrance to reception and paid parking. We were not able to breath normally. They store in the corner trash with who knows what in there as well. Generally we will never stay there again.

The property is well situated and my single room was nice. The only issue I had is that I stayed 4 nights and not once did I receive clean towels, toilet paper refill or garbage emptying. I had to go to the desk after night 3 to ask for clean towels for my final night. I was told they only replace them if they are on the floor to which I replied that my room had to be entered to see that they were. The person at the desk was very kind and apologetic though.

Staff very rude; check-in staff member tried to charge me again when I had already paid, then gave me a key card that didn’t work. He never apologised and I was made to feel that this was my fault. Room was small, stuffy and uncomfortable, with a very loud bed. The pics are very deceptive and you have to leave the window wide open to get any air flow/cooling at all. At check-out the staff carried on having a conversation about rooms for five mins until they finally deigned to serve me. Overall, not recommended. The one at Wien Hbf is better.

Overall, this is a high-value hostel. Great linens, friendly and helpful staff, generally clean place, nice bar area. My only issue was the noise on the front side of the property, as it is on a very busy street. The windows have to stay open for air circulation in the summer, so you definitely need ear plugs if you are planning to get any sleep. Still a bargain, all things considered. The location is very convenient for those who are using public transportation or the fabulous Citybike system. You can also walk to the Museum quarter from here.

It was very very noisy! Guests and Staff stand outside talking loudly and smoking at all hours of the night. Very hard to sleep. There is no conditioner in the room so we had to sleep with the window open, so cigarette smoke was coming into our room and people were very loud. Also, the hotel is next to a busy street and the U-bahn which also has a lot of noise at all hours. Rooms and section doors close very loudly as well. Housekeeping was inconsistent, sometimes not cleaning, sometimes didn't replace used toilet paper rolls and tissues.

I night I heard distrubing voices from outside and people are coming and knocking doors repeatedly. So my advice is better to avoid this hotel if you plan with your family.

Cheap accommodation for family, clean enough

The hotel is definitely very basic but we booked it because the price in Vienna (about 50 EUR p/n for a 4-bed family room) is unbeatable. That being said, the location isn't the best for families, with sex shops down the road, and not good for people traveling on the underground with luggages and bad knees with so many changes from Wien Mitte/ other major Vienna stations to get to the hotel. The maids change sheets every other day, but the room is clean. There are thin walls so you can hear things around the room, but it is not so bad as all families are grouped together. The girl doing our check in was very rude, but aside from her all other staff were great so she was really an exception. Overall, it's very basic and if you are looking to save, it is a good bet but you will get what you pay for.

I wasn't happy that I picked this hostel!

I picked this hostel because it was the cheapest and because it was located between two metro stops that made it very accessible and easy to travel to the main BUS stop, with no connection required.

However, I did not like many things about this hostel (some items are beyond the hostel's control, but I will include them so that other travelers keep this in mind when booking at this location):

1. I booked a shared room, which I do often, but I didn't feel comfortable with my roomies. An older guy walked around his underwear the entire time because it was \"Hot.\" 2. There was no a/c or even a fan in the room, or ANYWHERE, not even in the lobby or surrounding areas. And some of the windows in the bar area didn't open! 3. There was a group of about 30 tweens staying on-site. They were so loud, throwing things around and running around the ‘game area’ without adult supervision. I had to work one evening and it was very hard to focus. 4. There was a 12€ charge for sheets (7€) and a towel (5€)!! I have traveled the world and never have I ever had to pay for sheets! 5. The \"mattress\" was just a blue wrestling-type mat cushion-like material.

Overall, I would not recommend this place to others just because of the inconveniences. Location is good, but that's about it.

Awful! I requested and was given a female only dorm. However, on the first night I came back to find a man in the room. I went downstairs to ask about it and they checked and told me it was a mistake but the man refused to leave and I would have to move dorms. I have so many problems with this situation. A man refusing to leave a female dorm should have sent up all kinds of red flags with management, but they just shrugged it off. They are supposed to be running the place, it should be up to them who stays were. I can't help but feel that if I had been accidentally assigned to a male only dorm I would not have been allowed to stay despite objections from other guests. Another girl in the dorm told me they had been putting men in there all week and didn't care when anyone objected. She said she had simply given up on having a female room. Everyday I worried I would come back to a room full of men and would have move again.
Even if a female only dorm isn't a concern for you, I would still recommend avoiding this place. If they will carelessly disregard this rule, there is no telling what they will do. The room itself was fine; but the hallway had a weird smell the entire time I was there. They also charge extra for EVERYTHING. The great rate you see on the listing is just a teaser, read carefully so you can anticipate the other charges.

I was placed in a room with four, forty something smoking Romanians who were there to look for jobs. When I checked in the receptionist said I would have one night with a couple of older gentlemen and then after they checked out a group of girls would be in the room for the remaining two days. However, when I first arrived to the room it stank of cigarette smoke and I made a point of saying that the smoke makes me sick. Each night one of the guys had a different women sleep over and on the last night I was there they kept smoking in the room as I was going to sleep. Every half hour I would open the window to let fresh air in so I could breath. The pictures online do not show how sad the place really is, just spent a extra couple of dollars and stay near Westbahnhof.

We stayed two nights on a short trip to Vienna. The hostel is a good option for short stays, with easy reach to city centre, public transport and train station. Room was okay, quite small though but comfortable for the length of stay. Best deal is the breakfast, with all you can eat for very good price. Hotel staff was nice, and helpful.

The staff were friendly & helpful (score for service should be higher, but don't want to boost average score), and it's cheap. That's the good over with.
I've stayed in A&O hotels before, so know what to normally expect. This is a bad example:

The room - dirty (various stains of unknown origin on the walls); cleaning (non-existent bar emptying of bin); the floor would probably be more comfy than the bed, the cable tv is all in German, and I have been BITTEN by, well I dread to think.

The neighbourhood - it's on a major ring road, so there's lots of traffic noise. The locals congregate on the street corners in their masses talking loudly, playing loud music on car stereos, and racing round the streets into the early hours. Good look sleeping!

Then there's the advertised services on A&O's website. I booked this hotel, over more convenient more centrally located hotels, for the beer garden and cellar bar. But in reality these things don't exist, or at least never open according to staff.

So all in all I'm incredibly dissatisfied!!!

The hotel and the room is exatly as advertised, great location, clean spacious room. Of corse AC wasn't listed as an accessory, so there was none. It would have not been an issue, if there was no constant 36-38 C heat and the window would have not opened to the busy (and loud) street. Again, nothing else to expect, but perhaps a good consideration if you are going in summer.

Conveniently located

Hotel staff excellent. Breakfast well supplied. Without air conditioning, it is not a good idea to stay there during temperatures well above 33 Celsius.
Too close to traffic - very noisy during the night.

the hotel has kitchen in the room. Supermarket is across the street. You can easily buy your grocery and cook your home style dinner.

Very good location

Good location, at distance of around 300m from the metro and bus stop. The room was neat and clean and so was the bathroom. The staff at the front desk was friendly, helpful and fluent in English. The spread provided in the morning breakfast was decent. Value for money!

Great place to stay

Great place! Has parking that is a bit cheaper than other places. Quick access to the metro. Helpful staff. Large rooms that are pretty comfy. I would definitely recommend staying here. Free wifi, towels and linen included.
